On February 3, 2026, I had a tooth extraction performed by Dr. Kelly J. Hwang, DDS at Sabre Springs. The tooth was described to me as large, cracked, and presented as an emergency requiring immediate extraction. I trusted this recommendation and proceeded with treatment. In hindsight, I felt pressured to move forward urgently and later questioned whether immediate extraction was necessary. Following the extraction, I experienced significant and persistent pain that felt more severe than expected. I was instructed to take ibuprofen for pain control. After taking it as directed, I developed severe burning stomach pain and gastrointestinal distress, including symptoms consistent with gastritis and diarrhea. The pain interfered with my ability to eat, sleep, and recover. When I contacted the office and explained the medication was causing serious stomach distress, I was told to continue taking ibuprofen and was told that these types of reactions do not occur. This response was concerning because gastrointestinal irritation, including stomach pain and diarrhea, are recognized potential side effects of ibuprofen. I felt dismissed and unsafe because my physical symptoms were not acknowledged, and I was not provided alternative pain management guidance. Because my pain continued and felt abnormal, I returned to the office for follow-up care. I was physically exhausted, emotionally distressed, and frightened something was wrong with my healing. During the visit, I was informed that food was present in the extraction socket. The provider rinsed the socket and mentioned antibiotics might be prescribed. I attempted to explain the severity of my pain and asked questions about possible complications. When I referenced information I had researched to understand my symptoms, I was told my information was incorrect. I explained that I did not have a primary dentist for follow-up care and was seeking help because I did not know where else to go. I was told that this was not the office's problem, which made me feel abandoned while experiencing post-surgical pain. The interaction escalated when multiple staff members became involved simultaneously. Their tone and presence felt overwhelming and intimidating while I was already in pain and emotionally distressed. I felt outnumbered, unheard, and increasingly anxious. I was then asked to leave the office. Being asked to leave while still in severe pain and without guidance was frightening and upsetting. I left feeling physically unwell, emotionally shaken, and unsure how to safely care for a surgical wound without professional support. I left the appointment without receiving: * Clear post-operative instructions * A confirmed treatment plan * Prescribed medication that had been mentioned * Guidance for managing ongoing pain * Follow-up care or referral instructions * Alternative pain management after reporting medication side effects I am concerned that dismissing a patient reporting post-surgical complications, medication intolerance, and unresolved pain without providing discharge instructions or continuity of care places patients at risk. I respectfully request a review of whether appropriate standards of care, patient communication, medication counseling, and follow-up obligations were met. read more

Walking around with same gloves on and opening your mouth with said gloves and now I've got a fungus or a virus or something else that seeming can't be cured or takes forever while I'm suffering read more

I was a mess when I started going to this dentist. They have done several root canals, and crowns for me. My former dentist wanted to pull them out. I'm so glad I found Dr. Kelly Huang. The office runs so smoothly and you never have a long wait before your appointment. I used to wait up to an hour at the last place. They explain the plan and carry it out. they are nice but a couple of problems they worked on 2 teeth prior to working on the broken tooth i wanted them to fix but i went along with it bc they are the professionals. But by the time they worked on the broken tooth it broke again, now i have a crown that will only last 5 yrs instead of 20 yrs. They also have dropped my replacement tooth on the floor a few times. They don't always listen or understand what I am concerned about. Like I said they are nice they for the most part do good work but those have been some of my issues. Also they get real upset if you need to reschedule on the same day of your appointment. Enough that if you complain they won't serve you anymore. read more

This is an added update. I went to their website to get some information and then read this statement: We aim to exceed your highest expectations. They failed completely. I have yet again started my journey once again to find a new and final dentist to make me an upper denture and a lower partial. This place could care less what it has been like living with an ill-fitting denture. It seems when you tell a dentist you have Denti-cal you get less than par service. The problem with this place is that they did not send in all the proper paperwork resulting in my already approved treatment plan expiring. If I have to go as far as writing a complaint to the dental board now I will do so along with the other dentists I saw who abandoned treatment. My dental care is a complex one now and the dentists who turned me away for various reasons, only tell me they are not competent enough and or do not do many dentures. read more

My wife and I highly recommend Dr. Hwang. We were so happy to find her after having gone to A+ Family Dentistry (Dr. Tran) in Poway for over 10 years and having progressively poor experiences there. Dr. Hwang is very kind, compassionate and communicative - she's a great dentist! I just noticed that everyone who has posted about her shares our view. Had a good appointment. Dr. Kelly is very compassionate to the situation if you're a bit nervous about getting a filling and very excited to have my daughter in when she turns one year old. The biggest thing with the feeling is this is the first time that I've had no pain afterwards because they gave me a special medication doing that. Also, since the feeling wasn't done perfect, which is very hard when your mouth is numb, she saw me the next day to correct that. read more

I have been going to this dental office for a very long time. Maybe 8 plus years. Dr. Habibian has treated me and all of my family. I had the most difficult implant that needed work. It was not easy to fix or repair. I am fortunate I had Dr. Habibian to work on my teeth. I am really so lucky. I wish I could show you a picture of my tooth. Dr. Habibian did an outstanding job on it. I always play games with my friends and have them try to guess which tooth I had replaced. She did such a fabulous job. She is so critical about her work. I love it. I drive about 10 miles to see her. Please put her in your top list of dentists. I tried this new dentist a couple months ago and was not happy with it. I went in for a standard cleaning but instead of doing the cleaning they just did an exam of my teeth and made me come back for the cleaning. I've never had that before. When I came back they cleaned my teeth in like six minutes. They didn't even scrape my teeth and didn't even floss my teeth. I've been to multiple dentists before and never have I had my teeth cleaned so fast and not even use floss. My previous dentists would scrape for at least 25 minutes each time. I feel like I could have just brushed my teeth at home for six minutes and gotten the same effect. The dentist herself is very nice and personable and the equipment all looks very new and current, but since I only get a teeth cleaning every 6 months I want it done well next time. read more

Dr. Kelly Hwang D.D.S. Is Simply the Most skilled empathetic dentist I've ever seen. I have severe sleep apnea that led to very dry mouth causing multiple cavities. 3 dentist told me my bottom molars were beyond repair and must be pulled. I waited too long and was in agonizing pain. Even she thought an expensive specialist was likely but knowing I am disabled and could not afford it she persisted and endeavored to patiently and compassionately save my teeth. She's not just a dentist she's a deeply caring and highly skilled professional with an innate ability to sense the first sign of discomfort and pain and put the patients needs first. This office seems extremely hesistant to work with new clients. We chose this office through our insurance plan for the outstanding doctor credentials and reviews, so this review is not a reflection of the doctors capability, but moreso her incompetant and extremely rude staff; specifically Loretta. My wife first called the doctors office after receiving an authorization to be seen early (before our plan was transferred to this office) because she was experiencing an extreme amount of pain from a cavity filling from our previous dentist. She called on March 9th to schedule an appt at 2:47pm (yes, we have the call logs to prove it) and was given an appointment for today, March 16th at 4pm. Although this was such a great amount of time for her to go through her dental pain, the doctors credentials seemed worthwhile. Well fast forward to today, not only was Loretta extremely rude and unaccomodating on the phone, but she did not have any record of my wife's call or appointment. I tried to make an appointment stressing the amount of pain my wife is in, and still there was no attempt to accomodate us reasonably. Furthermore, After a small argument about them failing to schedule the appointment hte first time, I tried calling back and was forwarded to voicemail six times.. SIX TIMES.. I tried calling from my office phone and was immediately answered. Clearly, they were ignoring my calls. Still, the soonest they would see my wife is 1 week at a time we almost cannot meet due to work requirements and thus we will be going elsewhere. Again, this is not a reflection of Dr. Habibian, but moreso her extremely rude clerk Loretta. They were very unwilling to work with us and argued with me on the phone over an appointment which I had details for because they had failed to perform their jobs properly and schedule it. If they had handled the situation differently, I would not be writing this review. She tells you what you need to be doing, praises you when you do it and never recommends over treatment which is nice on my mouth and my wallet. I hate the dentist.. My kids hate the dentist...Everytime we go, and we have been to at least 5 different dentists in the area, we either are told that our insurance is sub par, or they can do the minimum requirement but if we want really good dental work it's going to cost $XXXXXX OR getting screamed at about how badly our teeth are. Needless to say no one wants to go the dentist ever. This is not the case here. The staff is professional and friendly, Dr. Habibaban is kind and upfront about the work that has to be done. Dr. Habibian has been my dentist for 3 years now. I called her emergency number over the weekend because a front tooth had come out. She returned my call within a couple of hours and was able to schedule me an appointment the very next day. The tooth she made for me looks so natural I am very happy with it. More recently she made me a Night-guard to protect my teeth when I clench, it it so comfortable! I appreciate the way she goes over my care step by step at each visit. She cares about her clients and it shows. I am hesitant to give 5 stars because like another reviewer, I feel my experiences with the office staff have been somewhat frustrating. When my insurance changed to cover my Night-guard Loretta told me it was not covered before she had researched it. She was later able to find the needed information and told me I was correct, so it was just a matter of her needing to do her due diligence. I have also requested that she contact my husband to confirm his appointments but I continue to get voice mails on my line to confirm his appointments. read more
