I've been coming here for about half a year now ever since the dental office I usually went to shut down. It's been an absolutely amazing experience every single time. I first want to shoutout all the amazing dental hygienists at this location who do a very thorough job cleaning my teeth as well as clearly explaining steps I can take to reduce plaque buildup and help manage my early periodontitis. Furthermore, I want to shoutout Dr. Jiang. He's probably the nicest and most welcoming dentist I've ever been to in my life. He immediately makes you feel comfortable as soon as you sit down and explains complex dental treatments and recommendations in a simple yet concise manner. He's extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of dentistry and seems to always have the patient's best interests at heart. I've never walked away after an appointment feeling like his recommendations were unnecessary or convoluted. I wholeheartedly recommend RPQ Dentistry and specifically Dr. Jiang if you're looking for a new dentist to go to or just happen to decide to finally take care of your teeth! read more

Okay so I wish I would have read the reviews on Yelp cuz this is a more accurate. I went in today to basically get a teeth cleaning they said I needed x-rays which normally you do at least once a year. So I was also told I needed a crown replaced and a deep cleaning. Now my last dentist I was told none of these and the only reason I don't go to that dentist anymore is because they don't take my insurance anymore. So I basically didn't want to do anything right now I told them because I want to wait maybe get a second opinion because I think it's odd that all of a sudden I have all these issues. I said I did still want to get a regular cleaning and they're like well yeah but it's not going to do the deep cleaning that you really need and I'm like I understand I just want an actual cleaning. And then they basically said that we can do a courtesy cleaning and I'm thinking this is part of what I get done anyway .So they gave me an estimate of the work they want to do and when they gave me the estimate they basically said oh if you donate to some type of Charity $30 then you will get $100 off the work that I need done but you need to do it in the month of April. I just thought that was the strangest thing and my gut just told me that get my cleaning and go. I really felt like if I didn't push to get my normal cleaning done that they would have not done it and it sounds like it just based on whatever the people are saying on here Oh ya and they did a floride treatment very quickly that my insurance is to cover. Everyone was nice enough but definitely a young group and felt pressure plus they made me feel like I couldn't come back unless I got the deep cleaning because it would be on them. read more

Amazing first experience and the second was even better. I had to leave my longtime dentist and searching for a new dentist with proving difficult. I went to three different dentist that felt like they were out to just make as much money as possible, as quickly as possible. A trusted coworker recommended Dr. Zhao so I made my first appointment. I immediately felt like they cared. The staff is warm, attentive, and clearly love working there. After a typical first visit of gathering information (x-rays and such), I made my second appointment to replace a filling. They also said they were getting me a quote for a deep clean. On my second visit, I expressed confusion on why the quote was so high but two different staff members, including Dr. Zhao, patiently walked me through the recommended procedures and what my insurance covered and what my options were. The conversation ended with me feeling like they were truly looking out for my best dental health and that they wanted me to be happy. My feelings from the first visit were more than confirmed on my second. So happy to have found my new dentist! read more

I went in for a cleaning and was given x-rays I did not need, an estimate for $6k, and did not have my teeth cleaned. Left immediately and received a second opinion from the Chief of Dentistry at Radys in her private practice. The second opinion was my teeth were great and out of pocket expense was $200. I feel deeply that this practice is focused on profit and not patient care. I have initiated an investigation with my insurance company for the unnecessary and clinically non-presenting use of a full-scan panoramic x-ray (which was not covered - the necessary bite wings were). I'm super happy I went with my gut and got a second opinion! read more

Be warned -- this place is a total scam. I came in for a simple routine cleaning, and they tried to push a $13,000 treatment plan on me out of nowhere. On top of that, they billed my insurance for a deep cleaning I never even got -- just a regular cleaning. The whole experience felt like a money grab. I recently went to Rancho Penasquitos Dentistry for a dental crown. Dr. Zhao was gentle, thorough, and the procedure was painless. The office has modern tech/equipment and the whole procedure took about two hours. I am very pleased with my dental crown. As a new patient I was incredibly impressed with the Rancho penasquitos dentistry team and the overall service they were able to provide. I came for a check-up and the staff here was great . I started coming here because of a change in my insurance providers, and was hesitant because I had gone to the same dentist for decades. I took a chance and was pleasantly surprised! I feel completely comfortable with Dr. Jiang doing my procedures; he's skilled and efficient and makes you feel cared for. I was reading their Google reviews & thought it was a great place. However, when I went in they quoted me $1000 for a CADD made crown (CEREC)!!! I asked if they could do a lab crown since my insurance mostly covers its (max copay $225 for porcelain) but they never called me back. It sounds like they will look at the most expensive items that your insurance won't cover WITHOUT giving you other options or working with you on different materials. It was super shady because they also said the code was D2740 for porcelain/ceramic yet quoted me $1000. They do get 2 starts because the staff is extremely nice. I think this is a management decision, I get it everyone has to pay bills. But if you decide to go just look at your quote & the dental codes from your insurance/copays. Because they will try to trick you into paying it. Another thing I noticed is that their Google reviews are great. I think they pay people to write them reviews. Having been to many dentists all my life, I would say this is the best dentistry I've been to...ever. The highlight of my visit here was being treated with the greatest hospitality. Shoutout to Yige for being SO so kind to me during my first visit. Everyone expressed such positivity and it was so harmonious. The staff was extremely empathetic, and willing to help and cheer me up when I was feeling down about my health. The whole team here were unlike the other dentistry places I've been to. I've had other dentists/staff yell at me for not flossing, scorn me for not getting my cleanings often, using hard bristles, etc etc. That alone was enough to keep me away from dentists for quite some time. However, I have a health condition that directed the attention to my teeth. I was beginning to notice changes in the appearance of my teeth. So we begin my journey at RPD, in nursing my teeth and gums back to health. The first visit wasn't as pleasant as it was suggested to do tooth scaling and a deep-clean. Me, nervous and sweating bricks, Yige saw my anxiety begin to ensue, so she offered and gave me a blanket. I felt instant relief, and assured me that everything should go swiftly, and so it did! Yige even taught me how to floss correctly! It's frightening to know that I was flossing my whole life the wrong way. This little thing matters. And I value the great advice given to me at such an age. If I had to say anything about waiting times, there was little to no waiting. You do a mobile check-in, if applicable, and was instantly called right away the moment I sat down waiting to be called. If you're an extremely busy person, the staff here do things extremely efficient that it feels like you've never been to the dentist at all. I had a regular follow up clean with my hygienist Caitlyn and she's SO amazing! Appointment at 8, and was out by 9am! Caitlyn is so lovable! Dr. Zhao is wonderful but her staff is unfortunately awful. I suffer from claustrophobia and it especially difficult with dental procedures. At one point during a filling, before drilling had begun, I started to feel panic arise and i asked to take a break. After a few minutes to regather myself, I finished the procedure. One of the dental assistants shamed me and said, "ok we're all done. You did...okay, I guess." She said this with a flat tone and flat facial expression. I'm certain she wasn't being playful or joking. The first time I was seen by one of her hygienists, Charlene, she was very unfriendly and sped through my cleaning as if she wanted to get done as soon as possible. I would've considered staying at this office of the staff were better. If you don't care about things like that, they're fine and get the job done. read more

I have been going to this Dentistry for almost 4 years and the reason I keep coming back is not only the great work they do on my teeth, but because of the people who work there. They are attentive to my needs, extremely informative, and personal people. I don't trust any other dentistry other than Rancho Penasquitos Dentistry. Charlene Yambao has been cleaning my teeth every 3 months and when I come in, I know I am being taken care of. Dr.Zhao has also worked on my teeth and the amount of knowledge she has while not being pushy is why I continue to stay with her. Dr. Yige Zhao comes off as a caring and educated professional so it is very telling that she fills her office with willfully ignorant staff. I have been in a billing disagreement with the office for 4 months with my contracted in-network insurance stating they have overcharged me for both bundled services as well as services that were deemed not my responsibility per the submitted clinical data. Two entirely different staff members, Taylor and Colima, will give the same rehearsed runaround while still somehow acknowledging that they do not have all the information in front of them. Instead of doing their due diligence and actually researching the claims, they will continue to tell you they do not see anything on their end, but rest assured, "everything is in alignment with your estimate." My insurance has sent numerous copies of their denial as well as 2 levels of official complaints re the overcharge, and we have also had a 3-way call where an insurance representative read the denial letter verbatim to them and provided the dates the correspondence were sent and they still choose to lie, gaslight and withhold my money. I was even able to confirm with my insurance company that an appeal was never even submitted by them even after this was all brought to their attention which to me is all the proof I need to see that they have no respect for their patients time, competence and money as long as they get paid. read more

This dental practice makes it extremely difficult to get an itemized receipt . Every time I need a receipt, I have to call multiple times or go into the office to get a detailed receipt. They won't provide anything beyond a basic credit card type receipt when you check out. Most corporate healthcare reimbursement accounts (FSAs) do not accept generic credit card receipts- details are required when spending hundreds or thousands of dollars. I don't understand why they can't provide the receipts that patients need. They certainly take the money quickly enough. Isn't this a basic requirement to run a business? read more

Dr. Zhao is the best and kindest dentist out there. She treats you like family - not even kidding. The dental office is new so don't expect the usual gloomy, dark and super old dentistry that make you and the kids scared to even step in the door. The office is modern with new equipment and furniture with excellent lighting. There is plenty of space and seats in the waiting area. You can make yourself a coffee while you wait. Oh, and the little ones can play in the game area which is the first dentistry that I've seen that has one. Parking is fairly easy too. Look no further for your dental needs. The dentist and assistants were great BUT they quoted me a price then mid work they said they made a mistake and the actual price was $300 more. I was quoted a price for a two day procedure, they printed the quote out for me. I went in the first day for the work and they said nothing about the price change. I went in the second day and that is when they said they made a mistake and it was going to be $300 more. 1- they told me mid procedure, not much I could do then. 2- they did not honor their printed quote price I won't be returning. As a new patient with Delta Dental insurance, I had a great experience at Rancho Penasquitos Dentistry. I let them know ahead of time that I only wanted what was covered by my insurance. Dr. Jiang and the staff were wonderful. They did thorough ex-rays, exam, and a teeth cleaning. Suggested a replacement filling to solve a gap between teeth issue, that I may have done in the future. They were willingly respectful of staying with in my insurance coverage. I look forward to continuing as a patient in this office far into the future. read more

They claim that they accept "Delta Dental" insurance. I went for crowns but they refused to use the the material Porcelain) that Delta covers. My share for Porcelain crown with Delta ins. is $396. These crooks claim that porcelain is out dated and they only use Zirconia now. $1250 !!! Delta does not cover Zirconia. STAY AWAY!!!! read more

Everything from unpleasant surprises and shock by the cost of normal procedures (such as routine cleanings, even fillings) with dental insurance. Finding a new dentist can be stressful. Rancho PQ dentist is awesome. The entire staff was friendly and very helpful and really put you at ease. They explain everything and show costs from what insurance picks up and out of pocket expenses. They have very modern equipment and the building is super clean inside and out. Dr Yige Zhao refused to treat me because I attempted to get informed consent about X-rays. I had a great experience at Bay Park Smiles, so when I moved here I stayed within this dental provider company, figuring the quality of care would be similar. First, Zhao attempted to obtain a 3D xray- after telling me 3D is once every 5 years and digital is once a year. I asked her to view the 2021 3D X-rays she had access to in my chart from Bay Park Smiles. She accessed them and then changed her attempt to obtain 3D X-rays to the annual digital X-rays. The xray tech had me in a full lead vest from waist to neck and we were almost done with the series of digital X-rays typical of a routine dental exam. I've had these X-rays many times, so when the tech pointed the xray scope close to my eye and pointing downward. I said I've never had the scope this close to my eye during X-rays before. She consulted with Zhao who said I could forgo the top X-rays. I asked Dr Zhao if I could complete the X-rays without having the scope (not the device but actual scope) so close to my eye. Zhao replied, "I don't think it was close to your eye." I asked to complete the X-rays and have her observe what i was trying to explain- which is part of the informed consent process. She refused to have her tech complete the X-rays and observe my concern, despite me being the only one in the office and she was just waiting for her tech to xray me before moving forward with the rest of my routine exam. Not only did she say she wouldn't observe the scope placement I was attempting to explain, but she also stated, "we are not a good fit." When I asked why she replied "you gave my staff a hard time." She is obligated to provide informed consent- which is not only a signed paper but also a discussion. Refusing to treat a patient because they attempt to engage their dentist in the process (discussion) of informed consent is unethical and illegal. I was assertive but not hostile. Yet Zhao resorted to exploitation of a power dynamic. Patients are not giving anyone a "hard time" if they attempt to discuss informed consent. Refusing to treat me, accusing me of lying about the scope placement- while refusing to observe the scope placement, and accusing me of giving people a "hard time" relative to informed consent violates requirements the Dental Board outlines. I asked numerous times for her license number, which is legally required to be visible to patients when they are in the office. I was provided a business card that did not have her license number. The office manager replied, "it's public information; you can look it up." So because Zhao refuses to treat and develops untruthful narratives about patient behavior when patients attempt to discuss matters of informed consent (illegal and unethical) and she does not display her license number to patients (Board requirement) I am reporting her to the CA Dental Board. read more

Just got dental insurance and was surprised by the estimate given to me. What I did not realize at the time is they included $960 as an additional fee. This charge was not submitted thru the insurance company though was charged to me directly. Before leaving I told Dr Dawson that the crown was very rough feeling. She told me to give it a couple days and it would smooth out. I mentioned this to her two times. Well I left with a rough feeling crown just to come back and have them sand and finish the crown. I went on my dental insurance portal and could see they charged my insurance company $90 for a post op visit. They should never have charged the insurance company since it was their bad workmanship. Had quite a similar experience with a few of other one star reviewers, I am very disappointed with this dentistry. It seems that they are just money grabbers. I made a new patient appointment with Dr. Yige Zhao for a deep teeth cleaning, but once I got there they decided to quote me with a lengthy procedure that cost an extra $3000+ on top of my insurance coverage. Fortunately, I am very well educated in dental care and up to date with my own condition, so i knew exactly what I need- just the regular deep cleaning and I knew she had quote me unnecessary repeating services. So I insisted on only having the deep teeth cleaning procedure. But they tried to force me into either taking the whole procedure costing $3000+ on top of my insurance or refusing to help me at all. After FOUR hours of excruciating negotiation, Dr. Zhao finally agreed to only clean my teeth on this visit. Then her office staff immediately increased the copay amount for deep cleaning on the spot since I only want that one service. I asked why did my copay spontaneously increase, because the copay amount is always consistent even between providers and does not randomly increase. They tried to reason saying they made a mistake in pricing. Ok. Maybe some people don't care about the money, then let's talk about the facility, the doctor's skill and their service. First, I was shocked by how filthy the operating room floor is. Second, the supposedly sanitized and sealed dental tools were rusty. Third, she overdosed me with anesthesia in the left side of my mouth, my throat was numbed and I could not close my throat properly. This is a huge problem because normally when a dentist is cleaning your teeth there are all kinds of nasty things collecting in your mouth like cleaning solution, plaque, tartar pieces, blood etc. Obviously and consciously we know not to swallow it and allow the dentist to suck those all out. Now imagine not being able to block those out of your throat, that's what happened to me. I swallowed a lot of that nasty combination. My nostril was also numbed and I can't breath through my it. This never happened with my other dentists under the same procedure. Fourth, before we started, she told me she would only do half of my mouth, but then she changed the agreement while cleaning my teeth and told me she will deep clean my whole mouth. This is very unprofessional, now instead of a copay for a half mouth cleaning, I have to copay for the full mouth cleaning. If my condition is as "bad" as what she described, she should had cleaned my mouth in quarters over 4 visits. Most dentists would at most clean half of your mouth so that you can still use the other half of your mouth to eat normally. But because she cleaned my whole mouth I was left with sore gums for 2 weeks and unable to eat probably. Five, After suffering those 2 weeks, I feel the gums around a few teeth were still inflamed. So I went back to my old dentist (2+ hours away) to check, and he was able to finish her shoddy work by removing even more tatar. And he confirmed me that those quoted procedures were not necessary. So it was a 4 hour visit resulting only in half an hour of actual cleaning and that was not even done properly. I will never come again. The only one star Dr. Zhao might "deserve" is because she remained speaking softly, played innocent and caring in talking to her patient, She instructed her staff to be rude, forceful, and manipulate you to make you feel bad. She and her staff employ the "good cop and bad cop" strategy. What a con artist! read more

There are two problems here. One is the dental practice and the other is my dental plan. I submitted an inquiry to Rancho Panasquitos Dentristy via their web site. I asked if they would really work with my dental plan. My previous dentist said they would work with my plan but then didn't. They charged me more than the plan specifies and then they left the network. So I was asking for assurance from RP Dentistry that they wouldn't do the same. (BTW, my dental plan is DeltaCare USA.) RP Dentistry never responded. Even after a second inquiry. I think the deal is that DeltaCare USA is a bad plan. I think dentists can't make a living working with that plan. But the dentists don't want to admit that. They do want to advertise that they work with that plan because it brings in more patients. Once you are in they just ignore the plan, charge higher fees, and hope you don't check. I think they didn't respond to my inquiry because that is what they are doing and any response would have given it away. read more

After having several crowns there I found out that they are poorly made and not zirconium. They shattered into pieces within a year or 2 after my visits and they said I chew to hard. One was eating boneless chicken and another eating a blueberry tart. They told me I needed 2 extractions 3 implants and would cost e $18,000. I contacted 2 dentists in Puerto Vallarta Mexico as I used to live there. Both said that work might not be necessary but they needed to see it first. So I went to PV got fantastic work done. No extractions, no implants and was finished in 3 days with a $1600 bill. They drilled into an old root canal, installed a fiberglass post built a tooth around it and I was done. Never get a same day crown they will not and do not hold up. These people are scam and con artists that know hoe to rip you off. There staff is only educated in how to take your money and not save your teeth. n DO NOT GO HERE. read more

On my trip to SD, I was checking out some breweries in Miramar and noticed that my crown chipped. I was able to find an appointment on a Friday at Rancho Penaquitos Dentistry and they explained my different options. I decided to replace the crown and was able to get that done all in the same visit. The office is in a great location and the staff there were friendly and really explained all of my options. I'm thankful to be able to get that scare out of the way and enjoy the rest of my trip. read more

From the first moment the staff at Rancho Penasquitos Dentistry were warm and professional , easy to talk to and quick to explain everything they were doing. They were very accommodating to my comfort levels and pain on certain procedures. On top of that their facility and equipment is very new, and the results from xrays and imaging looked amazing. They request payment to be sent to their Irvine address but don't post payments in a timely manner in their computer system and send the bill out for collection very quickly even though they already cashed the check. They don't care if they ruin their patients' credit rating. They also don't let the patient know when the account is credited. Then I called because I was in pain and in need of a root canal that could not wait any longer. From the moment I walked In Dr. Zhao and her team put me at complete ease! I have never felt so much peace and care from a dentist and her team -ever! It was still very hard for me anxiety wise but because of Dr. Zhao and the team I was actually able to finally get my work done and I feel like that was a huge milestone in my recovery with anxiety and dental Care!
