The last time I had to put my dog down and when it was over I came out and they hit me with a very large bill before leaving. So there I am paying in tears feeling like I just payed a hitman to take out my dog. It is a memory I will likely neve forget.

We have officially switched vets and couldn't be happier! This place was recommended to us, and I'm…read moreso glad it was! We brought our husky in to get her up to date on her vaccines and get info on getting her spayed. The staff is so friendly and kind. They made the whole experience wonderfully easy! First they asked if they could take her photo. They even ask if they can share pics of your pet on social media which I thought was considerate and pretty cool. Next they brought out a bandana and said they usually give pets a bandana and spray it with something that helps minimize anxiety. They ask before just putting it on, but seriously I just love the thought and care they put into doing something as small as this. The rest of our experience was just as wonderful. I know the bandana must have helped (we ended up getting some for the house to help with our pups separation anxiety) but the staff did as well. Our girl isn't one to take to people quickly but she handled the whole visit like a champ. We can't wait to bring our other 2 dogs in. This place will be our "home" from now on!

This is the vet for you. 2. If you prefer to understand the care your pet is receiving, its costs, and the impact on their health outcomes? Look elsewhere. My dog has been battling ear infections for years--untreatable even with the priciest allergy prevention measures available. You can imagine my hopes when visiting this clinic. But, oh, what a ride. First, let's talk about the vet himself. The man is efficient, I'll give him that, but discussing pricing? Nope. That's for his minimum-wage staff to handle, while he spends 15 minutes laser-focused on "healthcare." Smart strategy? Maybe. But shouldn't cost be part of care? I understand the need to focus, but come on--I'm not buying a luxury car; I'm trying to keep my pet healthy. Unfortunately, it was a rough ride for both me and my furry companion, thanks to a newly-hired vet tech. Sweet girl, genuinely tried her best, but she was clearly new to the accounting game. Here's where it gets "fun"--the prices changed every time I asked for clarity on treatment options. When she tried to consult the vet, his reaction was anything but professional: pure frustration directed at her. When I stepped in to voice my confusion, I was hit with the "infathomable blow" of: "YOU WANTED THE BEST." Translation? "You're not a good pet parent." Wow. Classy. Nine years of recurring ear infections, always treated the same way, but suddenly there's a "new and improved" treatment option at twice the price, with half the explanation. When I pointed out that "the best" to me means balancing cost, care, and minimizing return visits for chronic issues, I was met with silence--followed by a profanity-laden outburst from the vet himself, in the hallway no less (and this is a man who touts being 'a man of God'). He stormed out and refused to return. I recorded the whole exchange with my glasses, and yes, it's heading to YouTube soon.

I would give 100 stars!! My girl, Tillie had a CCL tear and I looked high and low at vets in my…read morearea to schedule surgery. I could not find available appointments until months out and quotes for the surgery were anywhere between 4000 and 6000k, not including, x-rays, meds, and followup visits. I called VCA for the surgery even though it meant I would have to drive 2.5 hours from Syracuse for the appointments and surgery. Dr. Anderson was spot on. He was knowledgeable and thorough. Went over everything with me before the first appointment. Talked about payment and what was included (everything) and the very specific requirements for recovery and limitations. Surgery went well, I was updated and given x-rays with before and after the operation. The vet was in constant contact either by email or texts - sometimes calls. Every visit was scheduled with our travel distance in mind and our time was completely respected; we never had to wait and were often taken early. Dr Anderson is a pro at these surgeries and his knowledge and experience were apparent. He put my mind at ease and helped us navigate a very big surgery. The recovery and care for a dog after CCL surgery is extensive and time consuming, but it was SO SO worth it. My Tillie girl was unable to run and play and was in constant pain. To see her running, wrestling and playing with her dog friends made it all worth it. Thank you Dr. Anderson and everyone at VCA at Ballston Spa - from Tillie Amyot and her family!

The vet that was available for an urgent visit for a hot spot was unhelpful and rushed, and left me with more questions and answers. She also seemed afraid of my dog (my dog has no history of human aggression or reactivity). Overall, the location is well run and clean, the actual service depends on the vet that you see.
