I found Doctor Pickworth through my health insurance company. I'm a resident of Holmdel and her office was very close by. I had read the office reviews on google and decided I'd give their office a try (once I worked up my bravery). The office is extremely clean (which is a huge plus especially during times of covid-19). The staff? Welcoming, kind, understanding, professional, and never once made me feel badly for letting my teeth go for as long as I had. I expressed I live with anxiety and they were sure to explain every step throughout the process and prior to them doing anything. Pro-tip : I asked to wear the x-ray radiation protector blanket while having my teeth cleaned as it's just like a weighted blanket and helped to calm my nerves. The hygienist, Leann, was so gentle that having my teeth cleaned was almost a pleasure. She is very detailed in her work and no stone (or tooth, as it were) was left unturned. Doctor Pickworth is very kind, understanding, and thorough. I went to see her a day before my cleaning for a consultation. Because of the state of my teeth, I will need to have several procedures done and, oddly enough, I'm almost looking forward to them. She found that two previous fillings I had weren't done correctly and recommended we redo them to avoid further decay. The plan included two root canals, multiple crowns, extractions, bone grafts, a bridge, and sedation dentistry, yet the only services ever performed were one cleaning and one root canal. Throughout treatment we received contradictory information from different dentists: one said a second root canal was needed, another said it was not; one said the office offered sedation, another said they did not; and they disagreed on how many extractions were needed. Ashley, the office manager, repeatedly stated that the total cost would remain the same regardless of changes to the plan or the removal of major procedures. We experienced many broken promises from her, and during the last two visits nothing was done; one visit was canceled because they "didn't have time," and at the final visit, when extractions were supposed to occur, the dentist spent the time trying to convince our son to see a surgeon, saying they could not perform the procedure there with sedation. They also disagree on how many wisdom teeth needed to be removed. Due to these issues, we notified the office on September 29, 2025, that we were stopping treatment and requesting a refund; we followed up again on October 9 and October 20. In our last meeting, Ashley said we had an $8,000 credit, but later texted that it was $7,827.40. We sent certified letters on October 28 and November 11. Ashley then claimed a refund check was "mailed on November 3rd" but provided no proof of mailing, tracking, copy of the check, or confirmation of the address used, and refused to stop payment or reissue it. Her latest message said they were "awaiting their accountant to ensure the check has not processed," which is not credible since we never received a check. Despite repeated written requests, certified letters, emails, and texts, no refund has been issued as of November 22, 2025. Please check the other reviews, where you will see that other patients have reported similar experiences with this office. We have hard, verifiable evidence of everything we've described, including, but not limited to, payments, timelines, and certified letters. Since they continue to avoid resolving this matter and have still not refunded our money, the situation is only escalating and will become public to a larger number of consumers very soon. Now Ashley is requesting that we remove our review. This makes us wonder how many other patients may have been pressured into removing their honest reviews as well.
