Attorney Hellen J. Hernandez , is very respectful and meets deadlines . I was previously represented by another attorney who lost my paperwork and had me remind them of deadlines . This was very concerning to me. But, once I met Hellen , I knew she was the one . She's very honest , and expects the same from her client. If you're looking for someone who is dishonest then don't hire her . She's an advocate for children , although you might be her client she will focus on the children's well-being . She will always put the best interest for the children before yours . Also , don't let experience or family certification fool you . She has all the qualities anyone would want for their case. She doesn't play , she's great at reading people . She's the kind of attorney you wouldn't want to be against . She's , busy and may take time to respond at times ( if your sending multiple emails ) , but that only means that it can wait . If it's crucial believe me she will be quick to reply . But , If you want a response right away I recommend you call instead , because she will take your call for sure . Her office , is so pretty and clean and huge which can let you know that she's very organized . Her staff is so nice and thoughtful. I don't know how my case will end , but I know for sure that Hellen will give it her all . FYI : no one knows your case more than you. Be honest, remember everything will be known . read more

After making a difficult decision to end my 11 year marriage in 2017, I sought out the help of a professional mediator to assist in my divorce and help avoid a costly and unnecessary court battle. While my marriage was long-term, it was not complicated, as we have 2 kids with the desire to share custody, owned 1 home, 2 cars, no businesses or retirement accounts and pretty straight forward finances. After a great initial meeting with Michael Jonsson I felt we had found a person that could help us see this through. Unfortunately, the initial meeting is where the help stopped. While not a happy occasion, when my now ex-wife and I initially stepped in together for the consult we were amicable, able to sit together for a conversation, and weren't far off on what we both wanted. This quickly ended and I believe that Mr. Jonsson played a substantial part in causing this to happen. He introduced the idea of "separate" mediation where he would communicate with each one of us and then go back and forth between the two. I truly believe this was not in our best interest and was simply a ploy, as it now allowed him to charge double by having a conversation with one (billed), then going back and sharing what info he decided necessary with the other party so they could formulate a response (billed) that he could then take back to the initial party to discuss (billed). And so it went for roughly 6 months, back and forth, back and forth, between individual phone calls and emails between parties and each month I would get a hefty bill. After 6 months, numerous emails and phones calls between parties, we had discussed exactly ZERO terms of our divorce at a cost of over $5000. The only thing ever discussed is how we were to communicate, which all went through him, for a cost. In the end, my ex-wife terminated Mr. Jonsson's services and sought out an attorney. One Mr. Jonsson himself recommended to her and which led to a very lengthy, and costly legal battle between two people that were not far off to start. In the end, we have 50/50 custody, sold and split the house, each took a car, and equally split what was left in our accounts. A resolution that could have, and should have easily been made with a truly professional mediator that actually cared about helping people. Sadly that is not what we got with the services of Mr. Jonsson. The only ones that ended up coming out ahead was the "business of divorce" which includes people like Mr. Jonsson and the lawyers he works with and recommends after forcing them to opposite ends and keeping the disputes rolling. read more

If there's anything to be said about divorce... it sucks. In so many ways! But choosing Michael Jonsson as my mediator was the absolute best choice I could have made. In comparing other folks' experiences through the divorce process, I mentioned to my ex time and time again how lucky we were to have fallen into such capable hands. We agreed on that. And through divorce proceedings!!!! How often do divorcing folks agree on things? Right? Beyond the technical knowledge Michael possesses and his expertise in children as a child advocate, he taught me a lot about how to communicate to the man I had been with for almost 17 years. Both in and out of the mediation office. I believe we both benefited and came out much stronger thanks to the work we did in those hours of work at the Sacramento Divorce Solutions office. The coaching I was able to receive individually was priceless. Keep in mind, some mediators will not communicate AT ALL without both parties present. I cannot phantom working like that. There were times I needed to be talked off the ledge, angry emails exchanged that needed dissecting and Michael was there though it all. With understanding and compassion - and a gentle kick in the pants when I needed it. In conclusion, I don't believe I'd be as happy and strong as I am right now without this process having been handled the way it did. Note: I read the two star review by Bron H. and, I'll agree the process can use better administrative support. But that was my ONLY frustration with the whole thing so, if that's the only thing I have to offer as feedback after having to dissolve a marriage of almost 15 years, I would choose them again ANY TIME! (not that I'm planning to do this again... lol). I considered removing a star, as, after all, it was frustrating at times, but knowing what I know of the outcome and how painlessly this was resolved compared to other horror stories I've heard from other divorcees, I could not remove a star for something that can be so easily fixed. And... The folks I've recommended to this office thank me for the referral every time I see them ... That's saying something! read more

I hired Hellen Hernandez to handle a family law/child support issue. She is extremely thorough and kept me informed the entire process. She follows through beautifully to be sure nothing is unresolved. I highly recommend her for your family law needs. Update 8/5/19 - I had an unfortunate family law matter I needed to address again and went to Hellen again to help me with a custody issue. She was able to help me resolve a very stressful situation very quickly. The upfront and honest advice she gave me was on point. She is compassionate, assertive and an extremely knowledgeable attorney. She explains things thoroughly and clearly. I am very picky and have had nothing but superb experiences with Mrs. Hernandez. Warning--DO NOT use Sacramento Divorce Solutions for your divorce mediation services. Michael Jonsson is extremely arrogant, controlling and money hungry. The website claims that he is competent in Family Law but he made a huge error in the most obvious Family Law Code issues that then sent us on a horrible trajectory forward. He is not worth the $375/hour rate (a fee often way more than more competent mediators who actually practice law alongside their mediation practice). Michael responds faster to a perceived attack on his ego than he does to multiple requests for information required to move forward. The office as a whole overbooks and then actually complains to the paying client that you will have to wait weeks to get another useless meeting with him. Vanessa also makes mistakes on the most important filing forms required, takes far too long to process them and no one in the office has any grace, humility or professionalism around these snafus they created. It's a mess over there and you will get sucked into a money sink vortex if you are not careful. read more

Mike was a good counselor, but good counselors are available at a third of what he charges. The legal information provided was routinely contradicted by further research. We wound up getting more accurate and useful legal information from the free office hours offered by the county family law attorney. read more

I have nothing but respect and gratitude for how Michael and his staff handled my divorce mediation. Our process spanned a considerable amount of time (for personal reasons not due to any delay from SDS) and Michael stuck with us every incremental step of they way. He provided comprehensive information and education about our options while serving as a compassionate and egalitarian communicator for both my ex-spouse and myself. We ended with a creative marital settlement agreement and our communication as co-parents in tact. I was also especially impressed with the professionalism of Vanessa, his legal assistant. Divorce is messy, both financially and emotionally. Mike was exceptionally knowledgeable, patient and fair. Unlike other reviewers, I found that Mike and his staff were always very quick to respond and answer any questions. He meets with the clients both together and separately, and tailors the process accordingly. My ex-spouse and I have strong personalities and entered the process with a lot of hurt feelings, which carried into our negotiations. Mike was very good about keeping us focused on the bigger picture and finding solutions rather than more to fight about. He did not hesitate to say when I was being unreasonable and to provide me with a thorough explanation of why I was being unreasonable. For example, I thought a compromise suggested by Mike was totally unfair, but once he explained it all to me it made a lot of sense for our situation. In the end, through the mediation process my spouse and I ended our marriage with dignity and respect for one another - something I didn't think would happen when we entered mediation. read more
