But I really wanted to see Folsom and while on the way to Folsom Lake State Recreation Area with friends, we noticed a sign for the Folsom Prison Museum. Naturally, curiosity won out and we took a much desired detour. Despite having checked online and learning the museum is closed for the foreseeable future (likely budget related), we still decided to drive onto the prison campus anyway to at least see the outside. Mission accomplished! Not only did we find the museum and snap a bunch of fun photos but we also ended up meeting two of the friendliest prison guards imaginable (please note: they're also the only prison guards I've ever met, but still!). They generously took the time to share stories about the prison's history, current conditions, and even fun trivia like the fact that all California license plates are made here at Folsom. Incredible! Oh! I also got a Junior Correctional Officer sticker, how fun!!! Their kindness and willingness to chat really made the stop worthwhile, even without stepping inside the museum. Which, by the way, the museum is the old warden's residence! While I'd love to return if the museum ever reopens, I'll definitely pass on the chance to spend a night here as an official guest. Still, for a quick, quirky, and historic stop, Folsom Prison delivered.

Considering the vast amount of friends, colleagues, family, and coworkers that are required to…read morereport for Jury Duty, I guess you can say that I am one of the LUCKY ones. Meaning that since I've moved to Sacramento back in 2001, I have never had to serve on a jury. If my memory serves correct, I've received a summons for standby over multiple occasions (2006, 2013, 2022, and recently, 2025). However, this time around, my number was ON the list where I had to report on Monday morning, bright and early at 8:00am. This takes me to the morning of Monday 3/24/2025. After making the drive to Downtown Sacramento (which thankfully I am quite familiar with), I ended up parking my vehicle in the dedicated "juror parking lot" which is located at the corner of G and 8th St's. As long as you display your parking pass (on the drivers' side of the dashboard), you should not have any issues with security giving you a citation. Since I got there at 7:30am, I wanted to make sure I had time to park and make the walk across the street to the "Sacramento County Superior Court" building since I hate rushing and that fear of being late for something as important as this. As many other reviewers have stated, this place is old, dilapidated, and in dire need of repairs. From what I was told, they will be building a brand new courthouse in 2026-27 with far more luxurious amenities. Because being in here is like a time warp back to the 1970's; uncomfortable vinyl chairs, outdated linoleum flooring, everything screams nostalgia and not in a good way. However upon entering (as there are two different entrances) , you are required to put your belongings (keys, phone, jewelry, belt) in a metal detector while the armed officers will check you in. Once you go to the Jury Commissioners Office (located on the 2nd floor), they give you a roll-call similar to going to school on your first day of class. My name was selected for courtroom #29 (on the 4th floor) and I was one of 48 jurors for a criminal case. This courthouse handles both criminal and civil cases on a regular basis. This is what got frustrating and those that know how slowly the government gets things done, they move at a snails pace. We did not get seated inside the actual courtroom until 11:15am and by the time noon came around, it was time for lunch (from 12-1:30pm). When you combine the recess breaks with the judge, bailiffs, prosecutors, district attorney, and lawyers, the whole process can drag on for what seems like an eternity. I came back on Day 2; Tuesday 3/25/2025 where we didn't have to report to the courthouse until 9:00am. Since there were 12 primary jurors, come find out that I ended up being selected as an 'alternate' juror (which are numbered 13-18) and I was 18th on that list. Oh lucky me! After answering all the required and valid questions that the judge asked each and every one of us (such as "do you know anyone present?", "are you comfortable in being a juror in this case?", etc.), I ended up being excused around 3:30pm on my 2nd day. Whew! I feel the time and process can be quite lengthy but also beneficial if you are not familiar with the justice system and had I stayed for the actual trial, finding factual evidence to reach a verdict. Guity or not guilty. When it comes down to it, I support and respect our justice system as a whole. I have friends that are attorneys as well as colleagues that do this line of work. Getting into this as a career takes the right motivation, courage, and mindset as you have to dissect and brainstorm various scenarios to reach a verdict of a case. But I also feel that in this day and age, not everyone should be selected to go to jury duty; especially ones that rely on their business/job as their primary source of income. I work for county government so I am taken care of through my department. But for others, its more of a challenge where the Jury Commissioners Office as a whole can do a lot better. With that said and done, I am giving the "Sacramento County Superior Court" just a two-star rating.

OR LISTENING TO THE FULL STORY OF WHAT HAPPENED. CAUSING MORE HARM. This statement details the events surrounding a vehicle purchase from MS Auto Sales, located at 1908 El Camino, which involve criminal acts of theft, fraud, and forgery. My wife and I traveled from the Bay Area to Sacramento via Amtrak to purchase a vehicle from this Used Car Dealership. I had previously negotiated a purchase price of $9,000 for the vehicle with the owner, Jumanji. I found the vehicle on Craigslist. Upon our arrival at the dealership, finance manager and owner Sammy Solomeh, delayed us until closing time. At that point he came and ask for the down-payment, Sammy Solomeh, presented me with a stack of documents to sign. Mr. Solomeh controlled the entire signing process by presenting one document at a time, directing me exactly where to sign, and then immediately removing the document before I could review it. My wife asked him, "Are you going to explain what he is signing?" Mr. Solomon replied, "Yes, but they're only regular car buying documents." He stated that once I finished signing everything, he would "be right back to explain everything." This did not happen. AS I WENT TO THE VEHICLE TO LOOK OVER IT, I saw Sammy Solomeh, leaving the premises driving away. After shouting Sam's name, another salesman who was closing the steel doors handed me an envelope with documents inside and said, "Thanks for doing business with us." I asked him, "What about Sam? He was supposed to explain the documents he got me to sign." The salesman responded, "Well, you're gonna have to deal with Sam tomorrow." I gave a $5,000 down payment for the vehicle. I later discovered that this $5,000 was never applied toward the negotiated $9,000 sale price. The documents that Mr. Solomon rushed me to sign also included charges for unknown add-ons that I never agreed to purchase. Furthermore, I have discovered a Law 553 finance contract with my name forged on it. I was never presented with this contract, I never signed it, and I had no knowledge of its existence until after the transaction. There were also significant discrepancies with the vehicle's condition which were not disclosed or stated on the Carfax report provided by the dealership. I have attempted to file a police report with the Sacramento Police Department regarding these matters. However, every officer I have spoken with has immediately dismissed my complaint as a "civil matter" without conducting any investigation or hearing the full details of the incident. I believe the acts of forgery, fraudulent inducement, and theft by deception constitute a criminal case that warrants a full investigation.

I came here recently to support a friend who was going to have a hearing for a restraining order and it was the first time I myself ever came to this courthouse. Background Checks, Rapbacks and Sex Offender Registry - DOJ Hits It On All Pistons…read more SITREP My job functions as an investigator trainer or legal policy research project coordinator involves working with the California Department of Justice (DOJ). SETUP Among the many sections in the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) where I work, there is the Caregiver Background Check Bureau (CBCB). In this section, we manage background check process for licensed caregivers, their employees, specified volunteers and non-client adults residing in a facility. CBCB Functions Individuals who want to work in Community Care Licensed facilities will submit their fingerprints to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) via livescan - a digital hand-scanning process. All licensing categories (Adult Care, Child Care, Elderly, etc.) require a California Criminal History and a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) check. If an individual is associated to any facility serving children then a Child Abuse Central Index (CACI) check is also performed. So bottomline: before individual can obtain a community care license, provide services, work or reside in any of our licensed-facilities, they must receive a criminal record clearance or an exemption from the clearance provisions governed by statutes, regulations and CCLD's own internal policies. TRUSTLINE Trustline is a service the State of California provides to parents and family members who want to know if a potential caregiver for their child or disabled relative has a criminal background. These are situations where they have chosen not to use licensed care but still want their nanny, IHSS provider, etc fingerprinted and cleared through DOJ and CCL. If they are cleared the name is put on a Trustline Registry. So again - as in licensed care - in these exempt-care scenarios, if they have a criminal history such that no clearance is granted then the agencies that maintain a Trustline Registry for child care and/or the local entities that administer employment clearances for IHSS workers are notified. LEGISLATIVE & REGULATORY INITIATIVES DOJ is a significant partner in my own work interests and those of my department in meeting the public demands and the resulting legislative mandates that upgrade and enhance the background check process. Their expertise and guidance in the criminal background check process is critical to our own department's success, and for that I am grateful. THE LOWDOWN The DOJ provides us with the critical background information we need to make sure that the facilities we license and the people that work their will protect the health & safety of clients in care, and not themselves pose harm to those clients.

Sexual Scumbags Ruin Lives. Protect our little angels. Please visit this site and tell your family, friends and neighbors to do so. * * * Beware of this too...PLEASE do your homework before sending your children to businesses/programs that cater to children such as Martial Arts, Gymnastics, etc. Sadly, many predators choose those professions for a reason.
