This library is great. I used to come here to get tutored for my calc 2 class. Great facility very clean. After we're done here I will be going to a park with my mom. I'm definitely working up an appetite! I'm buying a couple books so I don't have to worry about bringing them back. read more

This place is amazing! I always enjoy coming here with my family. It's not just a place to borrow books, but also a space where kids can find a lot of interesting things. It feels like home with its cozy, comfortable atmosphere and wonderfully responsive staff. I especially love that you can print any document, access the internet, and find any information you need. It's also great that you can borrow game console discs and board games. Every visit makes you want to come back again. read more

Everything is good only wish they were open everyday especially Sunday . However , I would never use the rest room because of the unhoused who always use it to wash and other things like filling water bottles . read more

We love it here. Back in 2012 I used to sit at a table every week to study for the CPA exam. Nowadays, I roll in with three rambunctious kids nerding out over books because it's a rare fun treat in this pandemic. We did curbside all summer but they're open now, with limited occupancy and 1 hour time limit. Just mask up and prepare for no seating. It's very clean inside and everyone's always so helpful and kind. The children's section is seems larger than a few other local libraries I've visited. Even my picky little pessimist doubted he would find something interesting and ended up outnumbering his sisters at checkout! read more

-1 Star. After visiting this location a handful of times, I can report that it has its pros but it has also its cons. The layout is great where the adult side is separated from the "the teen and children" section so that for the most part the sound level is controlled. Out of the 3 public libraries in the area (Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Rancho Cordova) Carmichael is the most decent location, or so I thought. Couple things I noticed more recently is the number of transient people that come in to "read." They sit on the lounge chairs, put on their sun glasses and "read." They aren't reading, they are sleeping! One dude today was snoring so loud and no one did anything about it, until I mentioned it to a worker putting books away. Unlike other people, I actually utilize the library to study in its quiet environment. I also noticed some random people just walking around; at this point it felt like they were trying to find unattended stuff to steal - they had this weird vibe. *NOTE: DO NOT leave your stuff unattended! I always take my things even when I go to the restroom, just doesn't feel safe to leave out. As I was leaving two women sat on the lounge chairs towards the back and practically took a nap. I literally heard one of them say, keep a look out, I'll take my nap first.. smh! This library needs to have a security guard at the front door and walking around, because this is just ridiculous! Idk exact library etiquette but I'm pretty sure you aren't allowed to sleep in the library!!! read more

I came in today to check out some more library books for my toddler and bring back some DVDS I had checked out. Unfortunately lately whenever I check out a DVD it seems to skip and their are smudges or scratches. I spoke to a librarian about the issue and he mentioned they never check their DVDs for scratches, they only check to make sure the DVD is in the case. I personally think they should have a tv and DVD player in the back to see if disks have been damaged, instead of waiting for a customer to complain. Since that's the only time they will send the disks in to be repaired. I will not be checking out DVDS from this location again, but I still think it's a beautiful library and they do have a great selection of books and magazines to check out. So I will continue to come here, but only for books and magazines. read more

Busy Sacramento county library is large and has all the usual services for patrons. I love to hang out and catch up on magazines while visiting here. They carry a couple knit and crochet magazines, with current and back issues, so I can get my fill of wooly fiber goodness! I also use their digital library, thru zinio to read several of my favorite magazines. I receive an email when the new issues are posted. Staff are helpful, although this visit I checked out at the self service counter with my library card. Plenty of parking, easy to visit this library. read more

I really love the library everything from the way it smells brings me back to my childhood I used to read a lot when I was very young and when I had my daughter I read to her when she was five months old and we never stopped reading from that point on and she became an avid reader just like myself we were bookworms or we are both worms I noticed that That they had story time there and it brought me back to the days when I used to bring my children there very good memories for me I recommend all the libraries from Roseville to Sacramento and they're all amazing! I've been coming to this library since I was a kid. I still enjoy coming here but I get frustrated because many of the patrons are inconsiderate. I shouldn't have to be the one to alert the staff that someone is snoring, talking loud, letting their kids scream, etc. This isn't a cafe, daycare or rest home. Have some respect and be quiet! read more

The Puppet Show on December 19 was simply spectacular. The children were 100% into the activity, and there were also jokes for the parent-level! This presenter did a wonderful job of both telling the Frosty story, and showing many different magic and puppet sides. He engaged all the kids-- I didn't see an inattentive face in the whole room! (and, yes, that means parents too!) THANK YOU Carmichael Library for such a treat! read more

Love this library! Very nicely remodeled. The amount of music CD's here is much more than your average library. There are plenty of comfortable places to sit and relax and read to listen to music. I liked how the adult and kids section was separate and there was a nice area for self-check out. There are plenty of long table as well for studying or to meet a tutor and do some work. Great section about Sacramento historical facts. Nice travel area. There is a multipurpose room that the last time I was there had Hawaiian dancers and music. People were flocking in to enjoy this special show, very nice to see. The library is a gold-mine full of untapped resources. Get in there today! read more

I come to this library often and the reason for the 5 stars is because it is close and convenient and OPEN on SUNDAYS!! I order the books online and they pull and put on the hold shelf I can be in and out in 5 min or less. The new check out is awesome you only have to stack your books on the mat and they computer reads the barcodes automatically (and most times this works fine) I have gotten a stack of 10 or more books and as long as I count them first I know if everything was scanned. Occasionally there is a book the isn't in the system and I have had to go to the counter and ask but turns out they said it wasn't in the system and after I turned it back in I saw it on the for sale shelf. If you want to hang out or look around, I always find this location to be relaxing and quiet. They also have books for sale cheap in the front lobby. Got some romance novels for my mother in law for only .25 a book! Not a lot of shade in the parking lot and they can get busy but overall I like this location and the hours are pretty good. read more

Earlier I mentioned how much I enjoy this library. And compared to some others, it still gets A's in most catagories except noise levels, that have worsened since I moved into the area in March. There is way too much talking, even by staff members that is starting to compete with the Central Library circus downtown. read more

One of the Best Libraries around! Convenient Parking! Staff is extremely knowledgeable especially when it comes to their huge computer lab. Hardly any waiting even late in the Day! Last week I had to complete 2 lengthy exams for work that required concentration and long time on computer, complete with printing of certificates. It was nice and quiet, people were respectful and talked softly! Had some major issues with a program during a test and BRUCE came to my rescue immediately! He was beyond pleasant and very calming. Actually all the staff are excellent. Can't wait to come visit again for some relaxing leisure time. Thank You for this Library it's the BEST!!! read more

Finally got to check out this library tonight when picking up my reserved books. It's awesome! My books were ready for me to grab and get on my way. The librarians were extremely helpful and there is lots of space for studying. I will definitely be a regular here :) read more

It's a shame that this library has become overrun with the homeless and reeks like urine and is covered in trash. The "security guard" is useless, as he is friends with the people who loiter out front and smokes and jokes around with them, making them feel welcome. They fight and litter, and it's a very sad situation. read more

A friendly, well organized library with an improved layout, wonderful community room, and lots of computers. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Lots of books & magazines available to buy to support the Friends of the Library and their great "Lucky Day" program - the FotL purchase current books for their library branch, and since these books don't circulate, it's always exciting to see what's there! It's right next to the library's selection of new books, near the entrance. And that's adjacent to their selection of DVD's. And the community room events - they include authors, an animal wrangler that brought in his Kangaroo, Owl, and other animals, a bird adoption fair where they had dozens of beautiful birds looking for homes - and all these events were FREE! This is more of a relative review as opposed to an absolute review. In other words, this library used to be a HUGE dump. I mean, literally, everytime I drove past this place I couldn't help but think how badly aged the architecture looked. I mean, I could almost see kids walking out of this place with bell-bottoms flaring, ugly flower-power shirts, and all to the tune of an AM radio station. It was bad. But that was then and this is now. Recently, they renovated this place and it's really worked itself up the food chain when it comes to public libraries. They have a good number of large desks for studying, computers, and chairs to rest/read. If there's one thing that hasn't changed though it is that at 3:00, this place turns into a zoo. So many kids come by and it's almost impossible to get anything done. But I guess you can't expect it to be quite when schools out. Other than that, I really am a fan. read more
