Love the library and how many free community services it offers - from magazines for my mom, to a seed library and switch games to borrow - as well as adult arts and craft activities! This June they also serve free lunches to youth 18 and under. Please visit your library more often!!

Some xlnt movies from the 90s and a much more recently published book that I hope teaches me a few things lol

Scooped up some great movies from the 1990s this afternoon. Due to the covid19 situation going on, only curbside pick-up is available. But I'm thankful for that! This review is strictly on this experience. Haven't been inside yet. To get your materials, browse the catalog online. Use your library card # and pin # to reserve material. You select the library location where you want to pick-up your materials. It took about 4 days to transit currently shelved materials from within Sacramento Public Library. Not bad, I have plenty to do! When the materials arrive you'll receive an email with a deadline for when to pick-up. It's generous at 19 days. The email gives you instructions for picking up. Either text from your car in the parking lot and wait in your car until ready, or call and talk with a person if you don't text. Pick-up hours are currently Tuesday - Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The DVDs are normally 7 day loans. I'm thankful it's more than that at this time, it's currently 6 weeks. Same for books. Will get some laughs from the DVDs and I hope to learn something from the book (The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck). Lord help me. lol!

This library's remodel is beautiful. The children's area is nicer, friendly, and fun! The seating cubbies are absolutely adorable. I love how the toys are exploratory and engaging. (Note: Sensory play is more for children on the spectrum, however I found the toys they had for that were great for all ages.) There seems to be a lot more board books stocked here frequently compared to the Fair Oaks location. Sometimes they'd have little to none. We've been here a few times and there's always a couple shelves full each time. I just saw a woman checking out at least 20 books and there's still a ton left for the rest of us! Eight computers are available for children to play on for a limit of 25 minutes (if a kid can read, they'll learn to surpass that time). Plenty of seating is available for kids to sit and read or play at. I almost feel like the place is bigger than before the remodel! The reason for the loss of one star is the homeless people. One was sitting in the kids section for the outlets and a few others hang around outside. I'm not a fan, but they've all kept to themselves or be polite.

    The hours posted

They aren't open when they say they will be on the sign outside. And even when you show them it's 5 minutes past they don't open the door. Then she comes back and says they don't open until 12. I ask why and she shrugs. Aren't librarians supposed to have information on all kinds of things? I would assume that they would know about their own locations hours. Or have a reason to open up two hours late with staff inside and no signs to indicate the hours for today given to all the people who are currently inside. Here's a tip, next time you're closed, look closed. Don't let people show up and don't turn on all your lights. That indicates that you are closed since that's the only way to find out.

Really uncomfortable at what is being taught to these children here. Would not recommended bringing kids to this environment.

My go to library location for years, when my kids were little after getting our books we would go to the park next door and look for the bunnies.

Adj: informative and sufficiently comprehensive…read more An older branch of the Roseville libraries, but a good one! I've been here once before a couple of years ago, but recently, we wanted to stop by again. The library is NOT part of the Placer County library system, which was pointed out to me (I already knew, but it was good to be reminded) as I signed up for a Roseville library card! Did you know that as a CA resident that you can sign up for a library card at locations NOT in your county/city of residence? Yup, you do have to return physical items to one of the branches of whatever library system you borrow from, BUT if you were just using their e-materials like Libby or Hoopla, then it's NO problem! So I decided I wanted another library card, so I quickly applied online (short form) and then went up to the information desk and the librarian/assistant attentively helped me right away and gave me an overview of Roseville's library offerings as well as rules and regulations (and fees/fines). Unlike many other library systems, they DO have late fees here, but I don't plan to borrow physical books or any other kinds of tangible materials, so I won't have to worry about that. Onto the library itself. One side is books for adults (I hesitate to write adult books lest people misunderstand, lol) and there are many shelves of grown up books, so their collection seems quite comprehensive. Next, there's a shelf of Friends of the Library books for sale, not a whole lot, but a respectable amount. Then there's the kids section on the opposite side of the library, and there's a good amount of book stacks on shorter shelves that do not block the view of kids which I finally noticed is the case at like all libraries, lol. Not sure why I never made that connection before. It's a smaller children's area than other libraries, but they tried to make it more cheerful w/more colorful furniture and decorations/posters on the walls. There are also kids' computers that only kids can use so that's good. Finally, there's a community room that's pretty big for meetings and if you want to have a private event or party, it seems you can rent it for reasonable rates (see pics). Outside of that room, there's a courtyard, but I didn't see a way to get out there as the door leading out was locked, maybe it's only for staff to hang out and eat lunch in? I'm not sure, but that meeting room has a lot of nice natural light streaming in b/c of the floor to ceiling windows. Overall, this is an older, but well maintained and kind of quaint library next to Maidu Community Center which is inside the Maidu Regional Park (which I've not yet explore, maybe next time). PS - obligatory bathroom visit: clean, but older, some rust on the metal doors/walls, could use an update on some of the facilities, but everything was functional.

Pretty solid public library in Roseville next to the Maidu Community Center. We came up to attend…read morean event and decided to check out this library. IIRC, we've been here before, but it's been a while. This is an older library from the looks of it, but it's pretty well kept up. It's clean and quite open inside. The bathrooms at near the entrance and they were ok, my kid says it's a little messy inside probably from inconsiderate patrons, but it's still overall clean. Once you enter the library, you'll see the front desk / information desk. The wife had some questions and the staff was helpful to provide the info. Meanwhile, I wandered around a bit. On the left side of the library is the adult section with many rows of book shelves, there's also 1 long wall of books for sale by the Friends of the Library. Not a huge selection, but they had a nice variety for kids and adults alike. The kids area is on the right side of the library, not very big, but good enough. There are also about half a dozen computers dedicated for the kids to use. Towards the back there's a community room you can rent by the half-hour, guess you can't just reserve it for free. You're allowed to use it if no one else is occupying it and it's not being rented out, but for your own event, guess you have to rent it. All in all, this library isn't very big, but it's good-sized enough for the community as there are 2 other libraries operated by the City of Roseville, this library is not part of the Placer County library system, so it's important not to mix them up in case you do check out books from both systems. The look of the library is definitely dated, but it's kept clean and organized and it's nicely set inside the Maidu Regional Park so it feels safe and it's surrounded by nature, we'll definitely visit again.

Few days ago, although I was so exhausted but my little ones needed to borrow books no matter how tired I had to put on that mommy energy and get them here. I sat next to the window, watched through the window cars passing and enjoyed the outdoor lush beauty. There was a magic, no phones, library silence, row of books that stand like silent companions and each holding a world within the spine of books. At least the books are silent not like manager's, they don't ask how fast can you work on this. I feel library is a safe space, read, wander with imaginations, crave for more and eager to read next book from the series and let your brain learn new words or emotions through the book. Growing up, I was happy whenever the library trailer book bus came to our school. We never had library while growing up, so I looked forward to borrow book's when the library bus came. I clearly remember one time, my favorite book was dinosaur book. I renewed twice because the story was my favorite. And I'm glad my kids enjoy reading and thanks to the public library, we've borrowed thousands of books. And without the library, this wouldn't be possible without breaking the bank. And thanks to the library, we can borrow from different branches. They make it possible for kids to read and grow. All I want to say, thank you! You are making a big difference in our lives.
