She only wanted free help and not consulting support from all the people that were in her presence as parents. Due to the sale of the school and the lack of interest for 8th grade the upper school was closed. We moved our daughter to Windham Middle School and if it was not for a full-time tutor she would have failed math. This was actually "taught" by Lyn's daughter and another instructor within HA. Core concepts were never taught but lots of photocopies of old textbooks were used as teaching materials and homework. This would explain why people used outside math teachers while their children were enrolled. In 1st grade we had 29 students and by 7th grade we had less than 10 and of the 10 only 5 were from the 1st grade class. They should be ashamed of themselves for charging what they did with the level of education being so low that back to basics was required to survive in another schools system. Keep in mind my daughter achieved high grades at HA and even made Honor Roll and High Honors. Yet, outside of here she was failing. Waste of 7 years of education and money. A NH teacher of the year has left as well so they could even keep a few of the gems that they had on staff.

These classes are generally three hour hands on workshops held in the college's downtown Haverhill culinary school kitchens. Faculty have been friendly, knowledgable and helpful, and the food always delicious. Each instructor has the flexibility to teach their own way so it's always a new experience. Most recently I did a Thai Street food class in which our instructor, Ploy, walked us through making a rainbow salad (with carrots, apples and a variety seasonings), Thai corn fritters, red curry with chicken (served with white rice), and a fun color changing butterfly pea limeade. Our instructor was super professional and balanced learning and the practicalities or working with non-professionals just right. Other classes I've enjoyed include Empanadas, Vietnamese street food, Indian appetizers, and chinese buns. The variety offered is amazing, and you can pick either weeknights or Saturday 10am-1pm.

I felt like I got no real support from them they they didn't give me a chance to learn a lot of the basics that an RN should know by graduation. There was one Carol Nash, person, one of the instructors who was extremely unfair to me. She even admitted that she just didn't like me as a person so she decided not to give me a chance when there was an opportunity to learn; she would never let me partake in the interesting observations or learning experiences and that went on throughout the entire time. The instructors were poor quality not very fair markers, they would have their favorites. If I wasn't highly motivated to get my RN I would have never made it. And to top it off at the very end of the last semester when I was just about to graduate one of the instructors decided me and this one other student did not have good isolation technique The entire time we were in school they never said anything about that but then the last week of school they threatened not graduate me and this one other student because the instructor didn't like my technique. So in order for us to pass we both had to pay a special tutor $100 and at the time that was a lot of money in '86 $100 a piece .Yet the tutor said that both of our sterile technique was good. They tried everything just to trip me up and few other people. I wasn't the only one who was treated poorly in that school.

UNH, DEMN Nursing Program…read more My best friend's experience as a graduate nursing student at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) Direct Entry Master of Science Nursing(DEMN) was deeply disappointing and marked by a pervasive sense of discrimination and unfair treatment. From the outset, she felt unsupported and singled out by the faculty, particularly in the Fundamentals of Nursing course. Despite her best efforts and a passing GPA, she was denied the help she needed to succeed and ultimately forced to withdraw from the program. This lack of support was not an isolated incident. Throughout her time at UNH, she witnessed a disturbing pattern of neglect and discouragement towards struggling students. Professors, like Deborah Simonton, the Director Of Nursing, and the Dean of Graduate School showed NO interest in helping students improve and instead encouraged them to quit. This created a hostile and unwelcoming environment, particularly for those without prior healthcare experience. Furthermore, she encountered numerous instances of discrimination outside the classroom. She was subjected to inappropriate and demeaning comments by staff members, and her concerns about her living conditions were repeatedly ignored. These experiences left her feeling isolated and devalued, and they contributed to a significant decline in her mental and emotional well-being. Overall, my best friend's time at UNH was a profoundly negative experience. The university's lack of support for struggling students, combined with a pervasive culture of discrimination, created a hostile and unwelcoming environment. I would strongly caution prospective students, particularly those from diverse backgrounds or without prior healthcare experience, against attending this institution. UNH's failure to uphold its stated values of diversity and inclusion is a serious issue that needs to be addressed.

Harmony is a beautiful, Waldorf style learning center and preschool. The rooms are curated with thoughtful, open ended toys that are rotated in and out weekly leaving the kids with hours of entertainment. The entire facility is calming, from the color choices of the rooms, toys, lighting and music, all the way to every staff member. Even on the busiest days I've been here all the kids are quiet, respectful and calm because of the environment that Amy and Chrissy have created. They have a huge outdoor space as well including an acre of land that they take the preschool kids for walk on. They have a sweet little garden and a few chickens, as well as a pretty awesome mud kitchen area. Harmony offers open play for kids under three, parent child classes in five developmental stages for kids up to 3 1/2, as well as transitional preschool and regular preschool. Katie leads all of the parent child classes and she is wonderful. She has such a lovely energy, is always so happy to see the kids, and has a wonderful way of working with the kids. Honestly I loved her before we had even really met her. Though my son hasn't gone to the preschool program yet I look forward to when he does. And Amy, oh boy, we LOVE Amy. On days where I'm having a rough morning sometimes I go to Harmony just so see Amy as I walk in the door. She is so welcoming, and warm. As far as indoor play spaces go Harmony is by far my favorite. We're here 2-3 times a week for open play and for parent child class and I don't see us slowing down any time soon.

The administration seems to be trying to preserve the reputation of the school instead of just doing the next right thing. It's also not necessarily a good place for every smart kid. It's designed to support the superstar kids, and that's not a bad thing. It's easily the smartest and most talented collection of people I've ever been around. Amazing people who've started schools, won Tonys, written academic masterpieces, and that just a couple people in my own class. If you think you're one of those superstars, this could be the place for you. But it's easy to fall through the cracks when you're not in the top 10% of the class. You need to be able to make your own schedule and have a sense of who you are. This is not for immature kids! Bottom line: expensive school, worth every penny if you're self-motivated and ambitious. Plenty of financial aid to deserving kids who could not otherwise afford it. Or you can be the scion of a family that can afford its own jet. These are the best ways to get through. The rest of us do well, and we have really cool friends 30 years later.
