I had a terrible experience here. I went just to have the piercing changed in my nose to go back to a threadless post. He roughly jammed it into my nose and it felt sore right away, but I thought maybe it was a bigger gauge and stretched it out a bit. Two days later, my nose was really sore and getting red around the piercing because I realized the post he used was way too short and tight. I had to find someone else to replace it because my nose was already infected... there was pus and blood when she took out the post he put in because it didn't fit. Would not recommend and will never go back there. read more

I came here to get some piercings after having a great experience with a tattoo touch-up. The Tragus and rook piercings were way too deep, and have had lots of trouble healing due to this. The Tragus had too small a gem on top and was reabsorbing into my ear causing a lot of pain. I went back in two days later to get help with it, the experience was super painful and he put a really long bar in there that caused lots of discomfort the next couple months. Visited a knowledgeable piercer from another shop and they advised me to remove the Tragus permanently because it is too deep and too angled to ever heal correctly. Had my industrial pierced here back in late April and the piercing itself was not only pierced too shallow which caused almost immediate rejection but also pierced with too small of a gauge which made it that much easier to reject. Wasted $75 on a piercing that could have easily been done correctly if closer attention had been paid. For this being my 17th piercing, I'm not new when it comes to aftercare or piercer screw ups. I honestly can not believe how little people and communication skills Theresa had -- took over ten minutes to describe my simple tattoo to her (the idea was an x with a line, like x_____) and was over 40 minutes to describe my friend's simple quote. She refused to even try the font we described to her -- which was Times New Roman , by the way, easily accessible on any MS or Google doc --- and proceeded to hide in the back room like a literal 5 year old and manager told us she was "frustrated". I've got my rook pierced here and have also had some tattoos done by Jen. I have been impressed by their service and quality and highly recommend. I don't have much exposure to what a normal charge for tattoos can cost, but do feel they offer very fair pricing (although that can differ based on artist). I am from Boise, ID but was in Bozeman to visit family this summer. While we were there my boyfriend had an old tattoo worked on and I decided to get a tattoo that I have been wanting for a while now. I chose to get a small Dory on my wrist and Paul did a great job on it. It is a beautiful tattoo and I get compliments on it all the time. He is not only a great artist but great to chat with and very professional. The shop environment is nice and cozy and clean. Tanner is an AMAZING piercer! Got my nostril pierced in October and waited to review until my piercing had healed a bit--so far I've had no issues or scarring. Tanner told me all about how to keep it clean and was really friendly and made me feel comfortable. I'm a pretty queasy person when it comes to piercings (passed out from an ear piercing once) and the piercing was so fast I didn't feel sick at all!! My first tattoo is a Celtic serenity loop to celebrate my moms' sobriety and remind us of her (and my) journey through alcoholism and recovery. As someone with a long and loving relationship with body mods, and being a recent transplant to Bozeman, I asked around before choosing sacred images for my tragus piercing. Last year while still in VA I had my right tragus pierced with almost no pain (I didn't even realize he'd done it, I thought he'd just clamped with me forceps) and was done in minutes. Since I wanted to be able to sleep I waited for that to heal before getting the other done. My boyfriend and I walked in. The shop was cute and organized. We had to wait a few minutes to be taken downstairs to the piercing area. A note about that, the piercing room and what appeared to be the massage area were in the basement. This is fine, but it was exceptionally cold, so cold the piercer had a space heater in the room. For piercings not so much of an issue, but I wouldn't want to be that cold for a massage. The piercer Mike was very nice. He thoroughly explained what he was going to do, having been getting various bits pierced for the past 17 years I already knew all the details. He was going to use a receiving needle vs forceps. I choose the exact same size jewelry and placement as my right tragus. The initial piercing was fine but he couldn't get the jewelry to follow the needle, so much so that he would pull the needle through without the jewelry! Then I felt him run the needle through again. When that didn't work he switched to a tapering needle which he AGAIN ran through my ear two more times. I consider myself to have a decent pain threshold but by this time I was sitting on my hands and I couldn't stop my eyes from watering. It wasn't just the four passes with the needle, it was also the pressure of him fumbling with my ear after each pass trying to get the jewelry through. As you can imagine, any area pierced and messed with four separate times in succession over 14 mins (after my boyfriend started to become concerned and started timing it) would be excruciating. I knew he had pierced me multiple times and was trying to be understanding but after the fourth time I had to ask how many times he'd pierced me and if he was nearly done as I couldn't see what he was doing. He said twice but I knew that was a lie, I confirmed the number with my boyfriend after. He had ran the non tapered needle twice and the tapered needle twice. I actually felt bad for the guy, the final insult being once the jewelry was finally in he dropped the captive bead on the floor. Two months later and it's not healing well at all. I don't doubt the sanitary conditions of the shop or piercer, but I can't help but think the trauma has adversely affected the healing. All in all the piercer Mike was VERY nice and the shop was clean. I hate leaving a review that could negatively effect someone's livelihood but I felt I had to. I don't know if he just had an off day or if he didn't have much exp with tragus piercings. I do know that the exp traumatized me so much I had to self soothe with a milkshake after. :( read more

Out of the 6 piercings my friend and I got at once from them, 3 fell out, and we were charged when we didn't have the original earring (it fell out randomly, I didn't even know it was gone until I looked). Went in last Saturday with a friend to get our noses pierced, had a great experience! We actually tried going somewhere else first, but the place was closed like three hours early, so we decided on Sacred Image instead! I've been here quite a few times for piercings and Tanner is awesome. He's super knowledgable and doesn't make me feel like I ask stupid questions, and really knows what he is doing. All my piercings from him have healed perfectly and he guarantees his work so if you don't like how its healing he will try to fix it for free! Repeat after me: do not go to Sacred Images. I'll say it again: do NOT go to Sacred Images. I am a fool, and I know it, because I had work done by not one, not two, but three of the artists here in addition to their piercer, and I can tell you from experience that they are NOT worth the time or the money for the visit. And you may think I'm a moron for making more than one visit to an establishment that I have ultimately deemed a nasty blemish on the face of or, even better, a raging hemorrhoid around the asshole of, the local body mod scene - I might be that moron. But I am writing this in the hope that someone else will read it and take their business elsewhere. Why is it so bad? I know you're asking that. If you live in the area and have any interest in tattoos at all you have surely heard some local rant and rave about Sacred Images, and I think these people are such staunch fans because they have never had anything better. The staff is unprofessional and shockingly untalented as artists considering they tattoo for a living. None of them displayed an ounce of creativity when I went to them to design tattoos, each of them in turn using the computer to print out the most basic shapes (i got a heart with an arrow through it; Doug, the OWNER and chief tattoo artist, had too google a heart, print it, and than trace it in order to create a suitable tattoo. The line work, especially from Ben, is SHOCKINGLY (YES I'LL SAY IT AGAIN IN CAPS BECAUSE I CANT BELIEVE HOW BAD IT IS) SHOCKINGLY BAD. I had a small piece done by him and he couldn't manage to color inside his own lines, let alone create straight ones to color inside. He assured me that he wasn't "fucked up": "I mean I won't lie of course I've tatted some people fucked up before or drunk or whatever but I don't do that anymore". I didn't ask if he was intoxicated, I think he just knew how badly he was doing. The other artist I haven't mentioned is Paul. Paul's work also isn't worth money. I have since visited another shop to have the work I got there retouched or redone. This shop is also in Bozeman and significantly more expensive but it's the difference between a t-bone steak with a jacket potato or a big mac with fries. I would not recommend anyone take their business here unless they want a watered down, disappointing version of the beautiful tattoo they've got pictured in their mind, because that is the only kind of quality these guys deliver. read more

I went to Bengt to get a very sentimental tattoo that I designed myself on my upper thigh. All he had to do was trace it. About 30 minutes into the tattoo while he was still just outlining in black, he stops and looks at what he was working on for like 5 minutes. He didn't say a word. I got more and more concerned and asked what happened. He said nothing and then continued. I was laying in a weird position so I couldn't see what was happening. 4 hours later, my tattoo was finally finished. I looked at it in the mirror and finally saw what he was looking at when he stopped. He messed up really bad on the line work and lied to me. This was the tattoo I'd waited for my whole life and now I'm embarrassed to show it in public. It's probably the size of an orange, and not too intricate. He wanted $450 for it even after I showed him where he messed up, which he denied. Here's the kicker. It took him 4 hours because he took a "bathroom" break about 10 times while I was getting tattooed. He would come back in shaking a little and sniffling. I don't know what he was on but it was the worst tattoo experience of my life. read more
