Great camping place just a few miles away from Carmel and Monterey. Smaller than the other campsites we've been to, but very nice. Bathrooms are very clean, and they have a hiking trail just off the camp with great views of the hills. read more

It felt so magical here! Saddle Mountain Ranch is secluded enough to feel like you're in the wilderness, but it also has like a hard-core glamping vibe. Like, I wish I had taken pics of the bathrooms and showers you guys...it was more beautiful and clean than most HOTELS I've been to! This is the kind of place you come to when you want to camp, but you are also high-maintenance and need to stay clean, connected, and have a nice place to hang out at all times. Due to covid-19, unfortunately the pool was closed and some of the other general public seating areas, recreational areas etc, but that's not their fault. As for the accommodations: you can choose to rent a cabin, park your RV, or camp (there are lux tents you can book through them or just bring your own tent). We went with the absolute cheapest option which was called "walk-in" camping. You park in a lot that's really not far away at all, then walk to your assigned spot and set up your tent. The assigned areas are very spacious and they all come with their own picnic table which I was very pleased to see...it makes it so much easier in terms of setting your stuff up and eating. They also have something called "drive-in" camping which is a little more secluded from the rest of the grounds, but that's what many people are looking for...plus, the views from there are supposed to be gorgeous. They cost like $10 or $20 more though, and this time we were on a budget. When I called to book this, the customer service was great and she even set me up with a tent spot that had a beautiful view, even though I was very last-minute (I was literally coming in like 1 hour haha). Tbh I had contemplated giving 4 stars instead of 5 due to the price. I paid $60 for one night (summer prices are higher than winter, i think you can get it for like $35 in winter). Being that this is one of the nicest campgrounds I've seen, I really didn't mind paying more than a "usual" campground, but considering most places you pay $15-20, I'm still a little torn on whether I'd pay that again. But I'm just trying to think in terms of quality, and this place really does deserve 5 stars :) read more

We had booked their luxury tent for one night and it was a good 'glamping' experience. Saddle Mountain Ranch is a short drive from Carmel-by-the sea, and the drive is beautiful. We had to sign-in at the office and we were given a map and information on the tent location. Our tent had an assigned parking spot across the tent which was convenient. The tent had a queen bed with heated blankets, towels and a table lamp. There was a fireplace with chairs outside the tent and there were cute string lights on the tree. There was a switch to control the tree lights, so we were able to switch them off at night. The showers and toilets were a very short walk across the tents and they were spotless. There is a steep staircase to get to the showers/toilet and may be an issue for some people. The showers were huge and had hot water and place to change/hang clothes. The pool was open when we visited in August and everyone were trying to maintain social distancing rules, but we did not use the pool. The kids playground was beautiful with swings, slides, climbing structures, toys, Ball etc. Our daughter had a great time here. There was a huge tree in the middle,with lights around its trunk. I am sure it would look amazing at night when it lights up, but we did not go near the playground at night. We had a nice time walking around the campsite and sitting at the fire pit at night. There was some issue with the fire pit battery/propane cylinder and the staff were quick to come and bring us new batteries and help us get the fire going. It was not too cold at night, but the heated blankets made us feel cozy and warm. The bed was comfortable. Pros:Beautiful views and very peaceful. Close to the town and beaches. - Everything is very clean including the pool, showers, toilets. - The staff were friendly during our visit. Cons: It is a bit pricey for a tent, but they are marketing as 'glamping' so we were prepared that even though it has most of the luxuries, it is still not a hotel with full amenities. We are paying for the 'experience' and the views. - The RV sites did seem narrow and small. - You can hear the next door folks if they are loud but there is a quiet time after 10pm and it wasn't a major issue for us. read more

My friend and I take a girls trip every year and this year we decided to bring her 3 year old with us as we were going to the aquarium. 20 minutes to Monterey, 15 to Carmel, not a bad drive. I don't know how you get an RV up the hill with the narrow one lane roads, but we rented a cabin. Cabin 7 has a full kitchen, 1 bathroom and a bedroom downstairs and the loft has a queen and two twins. The loft was tall enough for the 3 year old to stand up for reference. The beds upstairs were very comfortable, the one downstairs was lumpy and squeaked when simply rolling over. This place was a hit because of the playground and the pool. Sadly a pit bull (friendly) jumped on the 3 year old to try and kick her to death and scared her. No owner to be found. Just running through the pool area and the playground. The front desk staff took the dog and gave her an ice cream sandwich, which saved the day. It's a nice getaway from the fog. A nice way to relax by the pool, though expect it to be packed with kids. This one star is for the camping sites only - we didn't stay long enough to explore the rest of the grounds. We're experienced campers and don't expect a glamorous site, but the website photos and descriptions are very misleading and we were really disappointed. I wish I had snapped some photos, but we left right away. The place was packed and the camping sites are very close together and on really dry dirt that kicks up loads of powdery dust whenever you move or someone walks right by your site, which is often. Our throats were sore within minutes of breathing in the dust and it was going to create a lot of filth on our gear so we left within 5 minutes of arrival. I emailed to let them know we left and requested at least a partial refund given how misleading the website is, but they only offered a discount on future visits. Also no one was wearing a mask in the crowded bathrooms which felt unsafe during covid. This is a simple problem to solve by adding some gravel to the sites, but the management doesn't seem to care - they keep insisting that the website is accurate, but it's really not. Lol.. it's just BAD. Our campsite, #46, was 3 feet from our neighbor's with zero privacy in between. The walk-up sites are basically just a ton of people crammed on a dirt hill with cinderblock steps between them. We chose not to stay and were told we wouldn't be refunded because we already checked in (however, you only find out where your site is and what it looks like after you check in). Highly suggest to stay somewhere else!! read more

We came for the Big Sur Marathon and stayed in one of the cabins. We could not have imagined how beautiful the location is. The private trail is great with some awesome vistas. There were multiple burst water pipes during our stay which resulted in no water to our cabin. Unfortunately it was the night before the marathon, which was kind of a drag. We went down to the communal showers and toilets during this time, so I guess just be heads up that that can happen. Otherwise, a pretty nice place. read more

I saw a bunch of negative reviews so my expectations were really low. But this rv campground was a delight. Super quaint, very clean and beautiful view of the valley. The road to get there is steep and narrow, so if you are not used to maneuvering your trailer while backing up.. this place is probably not for you. Also, our travel trailer is 23 feet and you really don't want to be any bigger for this park. We saw someone pull in with a 25-28 foot trailer and they really couldn't fit in the spaces and had to move on: this is not a place you can push the size restriction. Most RV campgrounds can accommodate larger rigs and maybe those are the folks complaining? We loved it. It is super comfortable and will be back! read more

This has become a new family favorite and tradition to celebrate the end of summer before the kids go back to school- we've stayed at several different camping spots now and enjoyed them all for different reasons. Camping spots further up the mountain are closer to the amazing hiking trail- don't miss this opportunity- early morning is the best and you will be rewarded by scenic views of the valley, you will have to work for it though- steep inclines will get your heart rate up! The best spot to take a break and a picture is what we call the "enchanted forest" where dangling spanish moss gives you a magical feeling. The spots closer to the middle have easy access to steps that lead you down to the pool area-- plenty of space to spread out, bring your water floaties for the kiddos. We spent our days by the pool- using the wooden sauna, and playing ping pong as a family. Bring a cooler and a picnic. By night we'd be at our campsite- making dinner, s'mores, and playing games. No firewood here so you'll want to bring a camping stove. You can burn fire logs but not ideal for warmth- bring layers and binoculars. Full showers & bathrooms- and sink to wash dishes. Easy trips to the nearby grocery store or day trips around the peninsula can mix up the camping experience. We haven't tried the glamping spots but have pitched a tent in an RV spot when availability was limited. The only bad part of our last experience in July was the customer service- it can be something to work around in the moment when you are able to avoid the front office but disappointing overall. Employees should be trained in this area since it can negatively impact a guests experience. read more

My family and I stayed one night in one of the cabins here (Cabin 8). Prior to our arrival, we received a message that the office had to close early due to some unforeseen circumstance, so we checked in unassisted. The cabin was extremely cold with no heat running. I tried to turn the central heat on via the wall mounted thermostat but it would not come on. My daughter noticed a 12" space heater near the floor I the kitchen, so we turned that on while I continued to try to figure out the central heat. We attempted to contact the office by calling the "after hours" phone number (which is oddly the same phone number as the normal business hours line) and got no answer. We tried to contact them via email and a Google search for more phone numbers. Still no contact. Meanwhile, I managed to get the cabin up to about 57° by using the tiny space heater and igniting the stove burners for a few minutes every hour or so. I even resorted to walking around the cabins outside in the dark and cold to see if there was a fuse box or something else to explain the central heat not working. It was a miserable night. My wife and kids managed to rest a little but I was up all Nighy igniting the stove evert hour. The next morning, when they opened, I explained the situation to the office employee. She seems completely apathetic, but walked with me to the cabin as she explained that the central heat had been disconnected because it was too noisy. She then pointed out a second 12" space heater mounted to the wall near the floor of the downstairs bedroom. It was 100% hidden behind a chair and table. There is no way anyone would ever know it existed without moving furniture around and who does that?! I said all of this to the employee and got a blank stare. My wife contacted Airbnb to try to get a refund. They later replied that a refund was denied because the staff at this place said we never contacted them to try to resolve the issue. My subsequent email to Saddle Mountain seeking a refund was also denied because our complaint "doesn't qualify for a refund." As I explained to them, this is not entirely a money issue. This is about their complete lack of honesty and integrity. They flat out lied to Airbnb when they claimed we never tried to contact them. Their staff was completely apathetic. And their direct response to our complaint was basically that it was our fault we didn't redecorate the cabin and accidentally find a second heater that would have been of no benefit to the upstairs rooms at all. Do not stay at this place unless you prefer this kind of treatment. Note: Airbnb felt like something needed to be done, so they refunded part of our fees when Saddle Mountain would not. read more

We had such a lovely experience in one of the cozy little cabins (3). This particular one has a parking spot right out front. They thought about all the necessities you'd need if you lived there. The staff was so friendly and even helped us with a few complications we had with Air B & B, they went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience! Read the reviews, the good and the bad. I have to say, I did not experience the negativity others may have experienced. This place is nice. We rolled in with our 30ft RV. Easy check in process. They have a pool, kids playground, adult games such as Cornhole and horseshoes. The pool was closed due to COVID19 but everything else was open. We brought our bikes with us. They have a great 4 mile private hiking trail to the top of a mountain and back. We rode our bikes to the too where you can see the Carmel Valley. Carmel, Monterey, and 17 Mike Drive are within a 10 minute drive. If you want to experience this area in an RV, Saddle Mountain Ranch is the place to set up. See you next time. Gorgeous view! There's a pool, sauna, playground for the kiddos, basketball, corn-hole, & more. They have everything set up so perfect. Now for the RV part it's a bit tricky. First of all it's scary going up a narrow 1way road. So your hoping you're the only one with the RV on the road. Also, the parking lot is where all the RVs go. I will say, it is extremely tight to backup the RV. Thankfully, We came in with a class C motor home & stayed in spot 16 which was easy to back into. We were right across the clean bathroom and shower. There's one stall for each gender. Also, they have a few fire pits throughout the park. I can't wait to come back to this RV park. read more

We stayed at Saddle Mountain Ranch recently and it was absolutely amazing! The employees were welcoming and happy to answer any questions. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. It was so nice to be able to get away for a trip and still feel like our health and safety were important. This is definitely our new favorite camping space and our family will definitely be back. I wanted to find a place near the Monterey Bay Aquarium so I found Saddle Mountain Ranch. I did a lot of research and watched You Tube videos. LOL My daughter and I thought we were getting lost because we were going through the residential area and the long road led us up the hill to Saddle Mountain Ranch. Check in was easy. The office sold bag of ice and firewood. Btw, you're only allowed to use Duraflame wood. They sell it there too. If not, just drive 10 minutes towards the hwy 1 and there's the Lucky supermarket. We didn't get to choose the tent site or the glamping site. Since it was the 2 days after Thanksgiving, it wasn't crowded at all. We got to experience tent camping and glamping. The tent site was too open and had no privacy. The bathroom and shower near the office was super clean!!! They had a communal sink with hot water outside too. The tent site had a bench and a fireplace. We loved the glamping experience!!! The location was perfect, overlooking the valley. The area had a bbq grill and a fireplace. The canvas tent had a full size bed with an electric blanket. Kept us warm all night as the temperature dropped. They had amenities like the pool area, basketball area, and an outdoor lounge area. The pool was closed, not heated. It was very nice to go here during the colder season, less people. The staff also said they have a hiking trail on the premises too! I definitely wanna come back here sometime in the future. Dogs are allowed in the tent camping areas but not in the glamping canvas tents or the cabins. Don't forget to leave tip for the housekeeping staff! Happy Campers!!! read more

The people here are so utterly rude and awful! They are mean to children as well in returning any money for issues during your stay for anything. They are greedy and not very nice people. It's just a horrible atmosphere and I do not recommend staying here with your children or family it's not a safe environment at all for a family especially with little kids in mind. We stayed in one of the tent cabins and thought it was okay. The tent cabin itself was nice, trying to be luxury, with a price to match that, but it just misses the mark. At one point the restroom did not have toilet paper or paper towels and no one around to ask for assistance. Everything is just dirty and the property doesn't seem cared for. The tent cabins are also very close together so you can hear everything going on in the tents close by. read more

I read the reviews before coming here. I'd like to call myself a camping expert. My friend and booked this place for a large group, which she mentioned to the lady whom she spoke to when she reserved the site. That lady told her that she was going to put us up higher so that we don't disturb other campsites. We stayed 2 nights and 3 days there. Upon getting there, I found that it was odd on how the sites were placed. I didn't like it much but I wanted to have a good time and did the best we could with what we had. It's nice that they provide showers and toilets. The garbage is loose trash only and bagged trash is to be taken to the dumpster. They have really nice hiking trails about the mountain. I think we saw a deer. I guess you can get married there too. There was like a ceremony place up there. On our first night it was super fun! We were enjoying ourselves having a good time. We could hear music down the mountain that was louder than ours. It sounded like line dancing but it made the camp sites lively. On our last night, we wanted to have the same fun too. We weren't as loud and we were just talking about how we were about to start playing games when this lady comes to our campsite telling us to shut the fuck up and turn the music off because she could hear everything we were saying. We told her we would put the music down and she said that on the website, it wasn't allowed. She definitely put a damper on our camper. Before making our move, we put the music lower, checked the website and it only mentioned that after 10 pm, it was quiet time. It doesn't specify, that you must either be sitting looking at each other not saying anything or MUST BE ASLEEP BY 10. It does not say on the website that this location is meant for old people who go to bed early. It does not SPECIFY on the website that there is no music after ten. IT LEAVES IT OPEN TO INTERPRETATION. As we were discussing the website rules, a camp host or PARTY POOPER yells at us from down below, because she didn't want to walk all the way up the hill to speak with us and tells us pretty much to go to bed. She's tells us that their campsites are known for being dead. Silent. When you stay there. We go on to tell her that we told the person we were going to be a big group and that's why they put us up here and she kept telling us to check the reviews because it's what they are known for. EXCUSE ME? I felt like I was in jail. This campsite likes to treat its place as if you have walls in between each campsite to prevent ANY noise from disturbing other campers. If you are planning on just coming here to sleep, because apparently that's all campers do, or are mute this is the place for you! read more

DON'T STAY HERE. I had items stolen from inside my luxury tent while we were gone during the day. All of our items were zipped up and secure inside our bags, and the front of our tent was zipped and velcroed. When we returned in the evening, the entrance to the tent was not how we had left it, and my toiletry bag filled with all my personal items and medications was missing. Saddle Mountain Ranch denied that any sort of theft happens. They neither took accountability or fulfilled my request to refund my stay. Saddle Mountain Ranch said they conducted a full investigation, but did not provide any video footage or proof justifying said "investigation." It is highly unlikely there is any camera footage capturing anything given how our luxury tent was recessed and hidden from the main road. Since we had another week of traveling, I needed to replace close to $200 worth of items and reorder medications. Furthermore, my TUMI toiletry bag that I've had for years which I love is no longer being made, so I cannot even replace that. I travel very frequently and would never recommend Saddle Mountain Ranch or similar properties to anyone. Just a warning for folks considering Saddle Mountain Ranch- theft IS an issue here, and they will not take accountability or rectify the situation to make it right for you. Saddle Mountain Ranch does not care about their customers or ensuring a safe environment for their patrons/belongings. This 2-night stay in a simple tent ended up costing me over $800 and ruined our vacation. read more

Do not go here! The worst customer service! Why do people take jobs in the service industry when they are unable to smile or communicate? The sites are too small and maneuverability much too difficult. People were hitting their rigs all over the place. The damages done while we were there was unbelievable, but not one time did the workers acknowledge the accidents. However the manager was always around to yell at people. Had a family reunion here -- had 3 RV's, gave them sizes in advance, they put first arrivals in wrong space, then yelled at me when I arrived "why didn't you tell her where she was supposed to go"!! Also, rented pool house, smoke alarm chirped entire weekend, keeping ppl awake, asked several times to have fixed, was never done. Had service dog with us, was rudely yelled at by staff about dog (small one) not being in pool area. By law, this dog should be able to accompany its owner. Staff was consistently rude to members of our family. The spaces are INCREDIBLY TIGHT and no less than 4 RV's Jack-knifed, either hit objects or took out tail lights, they take much larger RV's than they really should. We heard about 4 large crunches/crashes over course of two days. Beautiful spot, they've GOT to get their customer service together - and most definitely STOP taking larger RV's. The photos on their site are very misleading. It is not a spacious venue by any means. A lot is stuffed into a limited amount of space. The setting is nice but is better suited for cabin rentals or tent camping. I WOULD NOT ADVISE IT for RV's at all! I only have a 25 ft Winnebago-Mercedes class A and it was a treacherous drive in. The single lane narrow road up a very steep hill is falling apart and has crumbled off in several locations. Also, although the small entrance road is supposed to be a one way in, we encountered two vehicles coming at us going the wrong way and there are no turn offs. The one way exit road was a little better, but not by much. The two small roads on a steep densely wooded mountain side were a cause of conern for me. I couldn't help but look around at the millions of dried trees and wonder how all the campers could get out in case of a fire. An issue we must all think of now. The other issue is the several hidden expenses which are not always discussed. For instance, I told the person I spoke to when making my reservations, my granddaughter might be able to join us later in the day if she could get away from college. I was told there would be an additional $10.00 per day for her. I was not told there would be an additional vehicle fee of $30.00 even though I later confirmed, by email, she would be joining us and provided the make, the year, the vin number and license plate of her car. I sent this information 8 days prior to my arrival and was never notified about the additional fee. It was only at check in I was informed of the additional fees for the vehicle. The gentleman checking us in said that part is in the small print on the lengthy contract they sent with the confirmation. I pointed out we had a verbal contract listing all expenses. The young man then threatened to call a tow truck and have my granddaughter's car towed if I didn't agree to pay the additional $30.00. He ended up telling us we'd have to settle this with the manager the next morning. Needless anxiety was created. We waited for the manager to arrive the next day. It was only after much back and forth that it was finally settled and we would pay only that to which we had verbally agreed when making the reservations. Additionally, when we arrived we were told about the wonderful hiking trail and beautiful swimming pool which was open until 9:00 PM and we were encouraged to use them. No additional fees were spoken of. We did not use the hiking trail but did use the swimming pool. On the way out from the pool area I saw a sign which stated use of the hiking trail and the swimming pool was available for an additional $15.00 per person per day. Unfortunately, the whole experience over the numerous fees and seeing what the venue really is ruined that part of a celebratory birthday camping trip. read more

Been doing the RV thing for almost two years now and this is probably the least-enjoyed place I've stayed so far - which is ironic since it's also the most expensive. The road there and back is very narrow. On our way out we had a face off and had to back the trailer up the hill so the other vehicle could get past. The RV area is like a small square parking lot - all spots are narrow back-ins that will test your trailering skills. The place didn't feel near as naturey as I anticipated. Sites are uneven and too small to accommodate both your Travel trailer and your vehicle. Worst of all - not enough parking spots for how many guests they have - so you find yourself not wanting to leave and give up your spot (if you're lucky enough to get one in the first place). Also, the hookups only include 1 water spigot (most places have two: one for water and one to flush black tank). Furthermore, the staff isn't particularly rude, but not warm and welcoming either. I'd say mostly indifferent. A couple times I overheard the staff talking negatively about their present and future guests, which I found distasteful. All in all, I was surprised at some of the great reviews vs. the actual experience. I'm wondering if tent or cabin rentals may be the way to go if you visit this place. read more

This RV park is awesome! We stayed here for 5 nights in our trailer in Site 6 (full hookup). Everyone was so friendly. The shared fire pits scattered throughout the park were awesome and we got to meet some very nice people. Our only complaint is no cable tv. We find that to be a nice touch when we are on holidays. Hiking/biking trails right from the campsite to the top of Saddle Mountain. We had a blast with our electric bikes. Free showers, lots of poolside chairs, friendly staff, awesome grounds! I saw this place here on Yelp, with all the pretty pictures, and was looking forward to it. Definitely had us all fooled. I'm sure the luxury tent sites are nice, but the RV sites are in a parking lot. We are literally "camping" in a parking lot, and not even a nice parking lot. The spots are so close together and so hard to maneuver into. My husband is very experienced with a trailer and had an awful time trying to get into some tiny little spot. No wonder they don't give you a site assignment until you get there--if we had any clue what we were getting into, we damn sure wouldn't have come. We stayed because we paid, and traveled a couple of hours to get there, but we definitely won't be back, and I don't recommend it. read more

Great setting, close to everything Carmel and Monterey, gateway to Big Sur. Bathrooms were clean. The vibe is chill. I really wanted to love it. However, the tree branches over our tent were dead. It was unsafe and I thought about leaving, but it was already late at night when we arrived. I tried to switch sites, but they said that they were full. I remember being here two years ago and almost all the sites had dead branches hanging over them. I brought it to management's attention then and they agreed that they should be trimmed. This is a true serious hazard. Also, and less important, there are no fire pits. They must be rented for $10. Plus logs. After paying $70/night, it's a bit chinsy to charge more for something that is basic at every other campsite that I have been to. read more

Booked 2 nights stay in our RV for April 8 and 9 to attend a wedding. On April 4th I called to cancel due to my mother in law's imminent passing. She died on April 9, Easter Sunday. I left a voicemail on the 4th at 2:06 PM and made the cancellation request and advised of the circumstances. This was 4 days prior to reservation start date, outside of their 48 hour cancellation window. I did not receive a call back advising me of any fees, so expected that the reservation was canceled. My credit card statement showed the charges, but no refund. I called and couldn't get through to a person or voicemail, so emailed. Email response was that they only accept cancellations via email. They had 4 days to respond to my voicemail, when they could have simply told me that I had to send an email to cancel, which is unlike other commercial RV parks that I've dealt with over 24 years of RVing--phone cancellations were never an issue. They are refusing to refund a penny. You'd think under the circumstances of calling as soon as I knew about my mother in law, 4 days before arrival, they could have amended their email only policy or called me back when they received the voicemail. I don't understand businesses that don't return phone calls or amend unreasonable, nonsensical business policies. I thought businesses were supposed to serve the customer, not the other way around? They charged the balance due long before the reservation date, even though they had a 50% deposit. That was unusual for an RV park. At this point, since the death of my wife's mother didn't cause them to amend their policy of cancellations via email only, I can only imagine their inflexibility and callousness about any and all other customer service issues. I have to conclude that avarice and greed is their business model instead of hospitality towards travelers. We had stayed here previously. Never again. read more

My husband and I read every Yelp, Trip Advisor review, watched every you-tube video campers have posted, changed our cabin 3 times before settling into the final decision which was cabin 9 Cypress Point & e-mailing the campground several times asking questions about the cabins prior to coming here 4the of July weekend, 2021. We took our compact car due to the reviews stating very narrow coming up to the campsite. The road is very narrow for about 1/4 mile or less as you approach the campground and yes, it is ONE WAY ONLY! luckily we never had to back up for another car or vice versa. We did leave a few times and there was no issue and in fact we would of been comfortable taking our Ford Explorer. The cabin was exactly what we thought it would be after looking at the pictures a million times. Cabin 9 is about 300 sq ft. The "bedroom" with bunkbeds is NOT a bedroom. Its a room they built bunkbeds in you cannot even put a luggage bag on the floor. We didn't use that "room" since it was the 2 of us. The actual room is a good size with 2 night stands, a small desk and plenty of room to put your luggage bags. Our opinion this cabin is only good for 2 adults and 1 small child. The bathroom only one person can be in it at a time just to get an idea of size. Overall its a nice, small, cozy cabin for 2. oh! The patio is very narrow like maybe 6 ftt. My chair was so close to the other cabin's bathroom window, little uncomfortable. It seems no matter how you rearrange the chairs you're still close to the other cabin whether it be their bathroom window or their front door. The campground itself was ok. There is no leisure walking on this campground. I can walk outside the cabin 30 feet to the office, pool, playground, R.V. site and up a very steep hill towards the tent camping and that's about it for leisure morning walks. We did hike Saddle Mountain ( hiking trail on the campground) to the very TOP!! To the top many people are mistaken where the top is. Its NOT at the wedding ceremony spot. Its about 2 1/2 miles from the beginning all the way to the top. You know when you're at the top when its a dead end and you're eye level with clouds and the hawks flying. It took us about 1 1/2 hour to get the top and 35 minutes to go down. So, that tells you a how steep this mountain is. What I didn't care for is the cabin pictures are extremely deceiving. For instance Jacks Peak Cabin that empty lot next to it is not for the cabin to utilize. Its a R.V. spot about 2 feet away from the cabin!!!!! The R.V. spots are in a PARKING LOT ON ASPHALT THAT THEY SHARE WITH THE CAMPGROUND OFFICE AND EACH SPOT IS ABOUT 3 FEET AWAY FROM EACH OTHER AND THE SPOTS ARE SO NARROW AND THERE IS NO GRASS/DIRT. HOW IS THAT CAMPING???? I have no idea how these R.V.'s maneuver getting into such tight spots. Personally I would be livid if I drove my R.V. to this location and this is what it is, a parking lot!!!!! Not to mention that narrow road. They should NOT of converted this parking lot into a R.V. campground and squeezed a R.V. spot next to a cabin. However, I do appreciate the campground responding to my emails prior regarding the size of the cabins, etc and being so accommodating after we changed cabin's 3 times. Changing cabin's is because they will NOT tell you the approx size, balcony, cabin size, nothing. They just told me look at the pictures so this made it a little difficult to pick the right cabin. The "laundry list" of things to do when leaving the cabin that I read on a yelp review. That list was probably 8 things half of them are common sense like return keys to office, check all drawers that you have all personal items, put furniture back in its place if you moved it. We did NOT like the tip envelope for housekeeping we find that extremely tacky especially after being charged $100 for cleaning. We did however leave a tip its not housekeeping fault. We would stay here again due to location but never ever would we tent or R.V. camp here only cabin. They also need to have designated signs for cabin parking/ reserved for cabin #. Parking by the cabin's is first come first serve. read more

Visited on July 4th weekend. Let's preface this with saying I am NOT a camper, this was my first 2 night trip. Free hot showers, a nice pool with clean lounge chairs, beautiful views and friendly staff made this a wonderful camping experience! I cannot explain how much I despise waking up with the smell of campfire/bonfire hair, so I loved that they do not allow fires! There is poison oak literally on all sides of each site, so watch your step and watch your dogs (which by the way are only a $5 fee each). All of the sites down below are for RV's, then up the hill are tent sites where you can park nearby and carry all your stuff in. We were in an SUV with a rooftop tent, so I am very glad I called to reserve a specific spot (extra $5 fee to reserve a specific site) and paid the higher price for a premium drive in tent site, otherwise we would not have had space to set up. But for someone in a normal tent, definitely go the cheaper route. read more

We came here tent camping Presidents weekend/Valentines weekend for 2 nights This was kind of a last minute decision, which I always have the best of luck when planning things a few days before. We had a nice time. This time of year, the full campground isn't opened. We had camp site 38 I believe. Campsites are pretty close to each other but on a hill, so we had ppl above us and below us, it was a small site too. 1 tent only, no fire pts unless you bring your own pit and with duraflames.(which we are not use to non wood fires). You can probably set up a tent in an open area right behind the campsite if not in use(it technically isnt a camp spot, but looks like an overflow tent spot. The bathrooms were extremely clean. OMG. I have never seen such clean restrooms/showers(yes hot showers too) at a campground before. and free to use, first cme first serve. They looked new. ( the one above 38/39 at the turn of the road. We really like this time of year as its off season so not completely packed, but for a holiday weekend and our gorgeous weather we have been having, they were full. But it was quiet in the night and early morning, which is great. 70's during day, low 40's at night. We did wine tasting one day and bike riding at Fort Ord the other day. Perfect weekend and not too far from the SC mtns. We will be back again. Loved it. We paid $35 a night. read more

WOW! this place is a 5 star on ALL levels! First let me start with the staff - WHOA - they are the most accommodating, chill, laid back team EVER. They clearly like what they do and trust their customers all the way - it's truly appreciated! Then moving on to the facility - WHOA - first - I drive a 26' RV with a Smart Car in tow - and I can't imagine driving anything bigger up the long, narrow entrance - but I did it and was able to manuver my way around. We were in spot 24 - which was the BEST! across from the pool - just down from the restrooms - and had a Astroturf pad on the hill with a beautiful trumpet vine. The hiking was spectacular - and it's SUPER dog friendly. I highly recommend Saddle Mountain Ranch - it's a rare jewel! read more

Yay! What a wonderful gem! SMR was our first stop on our coastal trip from San Diego! We arrived to a smiling face at about 4 pm. Our kids ran straight to the pool. There was so much to do there!! It was absolutely adorable. The grounds are picturesque. It was so sweet and quiet. We decided to stop in Monterey because we wanted to visit the Aquarium. It was just down the hill, super close! It was wonderful to jump in the pool after our long day. The amenities are awesome! The restrooms are immaculate! I highly recommend this campsite for families and couples! It's great!! read more

We stayed in the deluxe luxury tent with 2 queen beds site 41 for my daughters birthday weekend. The tent was very clean and adorable. The beds were very comfortable and had nice heated blankets. The deck was nice with a gas BBQ and fire pit. We enjoyed the pool as well. We enjoyed near by wineries and restaurants. The only down side is the bathroom situation. During the day the walk to the bathrooms is fine, but at night it is very inconvenient. You have to either walk up a steep dirt/steps to a bathroom or down a semi steep dirt/cobblestone path. Also the parking is not close to the tent so you have to haul your cooler and bags to the tent. This was not an inexpensive place to stay. If the bathroom situation was better and they offered some check in assistance with heavy items this would be a 5 star rating. Nice Carmel get away. read more

The campground is clean and the staff are friendly. The tent sites look amazing -we stayed in an RV site. The RV sites have full hookups with a bathroom and shower a few feet away. The lounging area has propane fire pits and comfortable seating as well. They have badminton, horseshoes, and other fun activities for the family including a heated pool. There's also a small but well equipped playground for kids of all ages. Unfortunately, the heated pool was cold enough for a young man who dared enter to exclaim "IT'S COLD!!!" loud enough to be heard from several hundred yards away. WiFi is available, but you won't be able to do more than check your email with the available connection, ie. don't plan on getting any work done on the road -or streaming Netflix for the kiddos. However, there are several Starbucks within a short drive with WiFi if you truly need it. Since most of us remain tethered to our smartphones these days, I'll note we had 1-2 bars of LTE service from Verizon at our site. read more
