So much to say. My experience with SHCC: met in musty basement of a church. Dismal. But the worst part was being counseled by someone who only seemed to have one line: "Flip the script." I've been in therapy since my 20's, and have, as such, seen about 5 therapists in the last 35+ years. This particular therapist was inept at searching for the core issues. Pretty much, I ran the sessions. There wasn't much useful input from the therapist. I stayed too long with her. SHCC is one of very few companies that take my insurance. If you or your family need help during divorce, do not go near this place. They hire inexperienced staff, who are looking to build a resume and hours. My divorce was a high conflict with established parental alienation divorce. Reunification therapy was ordered for my older two daughters, by the court. The counselors did not know how to deal with the situation or understand the complexity of the situation. They did nothing to help the situation, in fact they made it worse. It took over a full year after my kids stopped meeting with Safe Harbor for me to make any relationship progress. Only after my oldest graduated high school and moved out of the alienating parents home was I able to begin rebuilding a relationship with them. Safe Harbor was neither helpful, professional, nor Christian in their approach. The counselors hired to help the situation scheduled one Zoom call with my children and me in 8 months! They allowed the alienating parent to direct the interactions and conversations prior to therapy and they allowed them to direct the kids away from attempted/scheduled reunification meetings. They filed a fraudulent claim to my insurance saying they did an assessment that never occurred. Thankfully I cancelled the credit card I had on file or im sure they would have tried to bill that as well. NP Fru was a no show to an appt and then I rescheduled with NP Victoria Mojibola who yelled at me because my disabled son was talking to me during the session. When I defended my sons presence she hung up on me (wasn't even in the call five minutes). I filed a complaint with the state of MD and my insurance for fraud. Avoid. My counselor was very welcoming and a great person to speak with. However, the company as a whole should be shut down. I was charged $90 to my card and when I called they told me it was because I no showed a virtual visit, I was able to prove I had the visit and my counselor even agreed that I had it, every time I called to dispute the charges, the financial manger was "out of the office," I tried calling for two weeks all at different times of day. I gave up on trying to get my money back. I then requested records three times and have yet to be responded to. The counselors seem to be great, but the company shouldn't be interacted with. I have the best counselor but was charged today $60 fee without any notice. I rescheduled my appointment with my counselor but was told I missed it . I reached out to the billing department and they informed me that after speaking with management that they will not waive the fee. This is terrible business. One the fee is extremely high when I pay a third of that for my counseling sessions, Two if I contacted my counselor before my session to reschedule and she does so how is that a missed appointment. After reading the comments I see I am not alone and they really need to be blasted for this. This is so unfair. read more

My counselor was lovely but the company has very unfriendly policies for cancellations. I think a $60 cancellation fee is excessive, especially when it was because my daycare had to close 2 hours before my session because of a covid exposure. Completely out of my control, I notified them immediatelty, had no history of no shows and could provide written proof of the last minute daycare closure. Very unfortunate. read more

I called them to make an appointment. Got a computer that told me they might not be able to schedule me, because they were busy, but would try. Got a text giving me a number to call. Called the number and left a message. Waited a week called again... nothing. They never even tried to reach out to tell me they weren't available, now I've wasted almost a month that I could have spent trying to get someone to help me. read more

I would not recommend Safe Harbor to anyone. I sought out Safe Harbor because there were several occasions of domestic abuse in which my wife lost control and attacked me. During one of our sessions our counselor, Charlene, informed me that it was my fault my wife abused me because I pushed her buttons. She also told my wife she would hate to see her in jail for abuse because of something I said to her. When I called safe harbor to request a different counselor I was asked if I could try to make it work with Charlene which I was open to but then received a phone call an hour later stating Charlene did not wish to be our counselor any longer and was not offered any other options through Safe Harbor for counseling. read more

I pick this counseling service because of it"s tittle but found not a christian encounter. I feel that dealing with the counselor I had made me more depressed than when I started. It was an experience of disorganization and inaccurate summary/ information. I requested summary of visit and actually contacted counselor and inquired about the possibility of the mixture of my visit with someone else. The counselor got agitated after inquiring; to which we cease the call. I contacted the patient relation on numerous occasion to which no one appears to have record off whom I spoke to previously; in fact the follow up that they claim to do never happen as of yet. I terminated the sessions after realizing that my counselor was ineffective. I did not choose to attend Safe Harbor to feel worse than when I started. I do not recommend and will research next counseling service thoroughly and not base choice on name and credentials. My counselor Wanda was not a good match and her summaries of sessions were inaccurate and never revealed her diagnose until I ask her after requesting my notes and when question about diagnose; I was told that she put the diagnose as she did because She had meet requirement of Tricare. So is it a matter of getting paid or actually helping patient or clients and informing them of any diagnosis. I found out about my diagnosis of depression from a case worker at Tricare initially. One last thing just receive a letter from Safe harbor with a rewrite of inaccurate summary again and a claim that the Locke Wallace Relationship sale was completed and this is not true.
