As I continue to encounter unnecessary roadblocks while trying to arrange deposition services, I will continue documenting and reporting my experiences so that the public can determine whether there is a pattern of poor communication and lack of follow-through. In my view, no response is still a response. One star due to the company's failure to acknowledge or follow up on my inquiry.

I guess we've never used this company before after 20 years in business locally and it seems we…read morenever will. I tried to hire them for a judgment debtor exam. When the debtor shows up for such an appearance, and they often don't, the exam might take an hour at most and the court reporter fee might be several hundred dollars. But because we are their new customer, they demanded an astonishing 1500 dollars as a prepaid deposit. I'm amazed they have any customers with that policy. Perhaps they just don't want new customers or perhaps they treat different firms differently. Never heard of such a thing from any court reporter service or any service for that matter to require a customer to prepay a sum that is likely three times what the cost will be. I'm not sure who in my office found them but it must have been someone new.

A Certified Woman Owned Company would be sensitive to the needs of victims. Not so here. Despite the police report and record clearly showing that the cops tried to kill me not once, not twice, but at least 3 times, the deposition was produced with a different name, only one copy was provided, and this was after repeated discussions about these issues. There were two weeks to provide the deposition and return it, however, all copies were left on a front porch for dogs to destroy. The deposition reports are destroyed and covered in urine and saliva. There are NO ACCIDENTS- these actions are intentional. Hahn and Bowersock intentionally violate section 18 of the US code prohibiting the deprivation of rights under color of authority via failure to follow the law for clients that are victims of police brutality, male, and or perceived as mentally ill.

I'm having a horrible experience with CalDepo which is so regrettable because i really enjoyed…read moreworking with Eddy from that office. I am filing a complaint with the LA Superior Court about this matter. This was a scam committed by them and possibly the purported independent court reporter. In the meantime, I want to warn others about what happened to me. I had an 8:30 a.m. appearance in Santa Monica this month. The afternoon before the hearing, I learned that the other side was bringing witnesses to testify at the hearing. Accordingly, we needed a court reporter to take down that testimony. Our office called CalDepo. Eddy explained that it was last minute but he'd give it a try. Santa Monica does not allow remote court reporters. The morning of the hearing, no court reporter showed up for my case which was no. 11 on the calendar. There were 2 court reporters in the courtroom for other cases; they both denied being there for my case and/or for CalDepo. I asked the first court reporter if she could cover my hearing and she said I'd have to contact her service company. The hearing was about to start so I asked the second court reporter in the court room and she said sure, she'd do it, and that she was an independent court reporter. She gave me her homemade business card reflecting that she was there as an independent court reporter. I asked if she wanted me to pay then but she said she had my contact info. from the pleading that I gave her and would bill me. She was there for case no. 16 on the calendar. So she was just sitting in the courtroom waiting for hers to start. After hiring her, I received an email from Eddy that he was unable to find a court reporter for my case but maybe I could stall so he could keep trying. We immediately told him that we had hired another court reporter that was in the courtroom. The independent court reporter transcribed my hearing but did not prepare a transcript. The hearing was approximately 15 minutes long as not witnesses were allowed to testify. On the way home from the hearing, Eddy sort of apologized for not having a court reporter there and noted that it was a "tall order" to find a court reporter on such notice. Completely understood. One week later, I received a bill from CalDepo for $3,000 and no transcript!! I thought that there must have been an error. I explained that I had hired an independent not someone from CalDepo. What saddens me the most about this matter is the dishonesty and nastiness from CalDepo in insisting that they had sent the independent court reporter and that she was "theirs." I can take mistakes, misunderstandings, etc. But I cannot tolerate dishonesty. I predict they'll write a response to this review claiming they sent the independent contractor to the courthouse for my case. I can tell you unequivocally that they did not and that any such response is further confirmation of their dishonest practice. I have no idea how they layered themselves in. Frightening.
