If you are self representing in family law court due to financial circumstances, trying to do everything yourself as far as paperwork and filings can be very challenging and intimidating and can trigger anxiety especially since going to court is already nerve racking as it is. I chose Kat to use for document prep services for my divorce given the great reviews. I did read through the negatives as well but it was a small portion so I didn't pay it any mind. Kat was initially very responsive via text and email; polite and answered all our questions. I signed the contract on 1/24/2024 around 9am and sent over the $425 requested. By 9pm though, it was determined legal prep wasn't the right route for me and I sent an email to cancel the contract - well within the 24 hour cancellation window. I didn't hear back so I texted her the morning of 1/25/2024. When I didn't get a response in about 40 minutes - when she was previously responding within minutes - I gave her a call and got her voicemail. I left a message regarding the cancellation and about 30 minutes later, she emailed me back that she didn't see my cancellation email from the night before and had prepared the documents that morning and sent it over. I requested a full refund as I had abided by the cancellation policy and notified her within 24-hours but she only refunded half, stating she did the work and wanted to be paid for her time. When I re-read her email, I noticed she said she prepared the documents that morning - well after I sent the cancellation email and her reasoning was that she didn't see it as she gets a lot of emails. When she checks her emails is NOT a client's responsibility. Based on her stating she prepared the documents on the morning on 1/25/2024, I reached out today for a refund of the remaining balance. She refused, stating half is fair and reasonable and she didn't want to spend more time on this. When I asked for proof that documents were prepped before the cancellation email was sent, she blocked me. I did make a comment about the responsiveness changing, since that was a similar experience other people had once payment was sent. While I understand parenthood is busy, responding to clients in a timely manner is also needed. Particularly when previous interactions were very immediate or near immediate but once there's an issue, lack of response. I've attached screenshots of our emails/text thread. I would not recommend her services based on my own experience and would highly recommend reading through the other reviews as well. And if you're iffy about services, pay with a credit card and request no work to be done before the 24-hour cancellation period so you don't lose your deposit if you cancel. Based on the policy, it's very much not in the client's favor. Update: I did get a full refund - AFTER I posted this review, so no, I could not have included it in my original review because it was not sent at that time. Trying to make it seem like I intentionally left that part out is dishonest. Blaming what occurred on emotions is pitiful. Screenshots of the exchange I've had are available for others to see. Unfortunately, the service I received from Kat was inadequate and I would not recommend her to any of my contacts or friends. Interestingly, Kat represented both my ex-wife and myself after my ex-wife insisted that we use her. My ex-wife posted a favorable review on this YELP site on 1/16/25 filled with lies. Kat's service is to process legal documents and not give legal advice. However, I have an email from my ex-wife that states the advice that Kat gave her in regards to asking for spousal support and a few other topics. This is highly unprofessional and I believe could be against rules/laws in the state of California. Just for clarity the advice given to my ex-wife was NOT business advice it was legal advice. I should have read all the reviews on Kat's service before I agreed to contract with her. I paid my fees to her and once she had them it would take days with numerous phone calls (that would go unanswered), multiple text messages and emails to get a response. Once when I finally reached Kat in Oct 2024 to ask did she have my ex-wife's signed papers - she replied yes. My ex-wife originally emailed Kat that she wanted the divorce finalized in 2024 so it was important to have the papers filed at court no later than Nov 15, 2024 to close that year. Surprisingly, my ex-wife after signing the legal agreement came back and tried to get more money and used closing in 2024 as a deadline she would halt. When I finally reached Kat again to understand how a document that she had told me was received and signed was now not signed and not submitted to the court - she said she never received my ex-wife's documents. So I thought why did Kat email me that she did have my ex-wife's documents? Honestly, it seemed like they were working together from the beginning and Kat was not performing in a fair and unbiased capacity. While I was waiting for the judgement to finalize I emailed Kat asking for a complete paper copy set of ALL DOCUMENTS filed. Her response was once I have them back from the court I will send them to you. Once my divorce was finalized Kat mailed my ex-wife a complete set of the documents to my house. When I called after waiting 4 weeks to receive my hard copy, Kat replied "I sent you an email with the file attached". I shared with her that I needed a paper copy of all the documents and she replied basically "I'm very busy so you'll have to wait". I've been waiting since Feb 9, 2025 and still no documents. Kat sent my ex-wife her documents within 10 days after the divorce finalized but couldn't send me mine at the same time. Favoritism towards the ex? Apparently so! However, Kat didn't hesitate taking my money. This is not the place to receive equal and fair treatment nor unbiassed support. UPDATED RESPONSE: Kat you did not send me a complete hard copy of the legal documents. I haven't received documents or communications from you since 2/9/25 - which is typical for your service. I also explained why I needed a hard copy not just an email. Why did you send a hard copy to my ex-wife but not to me? As to the claim you don't give legal advice please see the photo attached of an email from my ex-wife to me during the proceedings that clearly communicate the advice you gave her. I'm not sure why you would advise someone to go for half their spouse's worth when they were married less than 2 years. Why didn't you also tell her that the property from her first marriage, which she didn't claim in the paperwork was also up for consideration? There is still no response from you as to why you told me you had her signed documents in October but when my ex-wife spoke to you about not submitting them to the court you told me you DID NOT have her documents yet. Isn't the timing interesting that when my ex-wife said she wanted to go after more money that you didn't have her documents? I have the timing and the emails of that exchange between you and myself to prove what I'm stating here. So one more time I request that you send to my address with SIGNATURE REQUIRED a complete set of my court documents, especially since I ALREADY PAID for them. UPDATED REQUEST: The judgement states no spousal required because you advised my ex-wife to get a lump sum and a car. Based on your input she received $50k and a car. As usual you don't respond to the questions. Please stop this back and forth and send my hard copy of all the court documents. Since you claim you sent them - use SIGNATURE REQUIRED this time so we know they make it to my address. read more

Great service - No Responsive - No Reliable - No Katherine did a horrible job on my case. It's a shocker. I hired her purely based on Yelp reviews. Perhaps things have changed or I simply slip thru as an exception In my experience thus far, she was sloppy, constant mistakes, dismissive and unreliable. She doesn't check or read her emails for completing important information on your case. Impossible to reach. She doesn't give updates. She cannot be reached on the phone. She wants to explain nothing to you voluntarily, and she wants to whip up your paperwork carelessly and has done so evidently. Because your case is unimportant compared to her other work, and for $1000 quote to do your divorce case, despite higher than the market rate, you still get a total under rated sub services. It is a disappointing experience. Chasing her repeatedly, reminding her by playing her secretary, and correcting all her mistakes on the application and helping her finding her emails by sending same information 3 times repeatedly is not condusive to the reasons why that one hired a paralegal for. I do not recommend her to anyone. I paid $500 to start on my application, it's merely filling out forms, and yet the experience has been pure hell. I could've done it myself saving $500 and with less headache. I'd not be paying her another $500 to complete the case. She is completely unworthy and unprofessional. Not only did she snapped and yelled at me for unwilling to do her job of basic communications, such as just one phone call during the whole duration of my case is simply a huge burden to her, and that it even took days to set that up; but also she complained 10-15 min of her call time is unreasonable for the asking to start. You would think that her highness way, non responsive and difficult personality along with unprofessional attitude would give you stellar paperwork, since a few hours making $500 is a pretty good deal, yet the paperwork is incredibly sloppy. She put down dates wrong & doesn't even check off stipulation check boxes. It's clear that the application took her an hour only, and she doesn't give a damn about filling it out correctly, nor does she read your emails for it. I had to send her my waiver 3 times and then had to babysit her thru it. This is absolutely horrid. Save your sanity, do not hire her. Worth noting... How she tries to appear to be grateful and polite in her Yelp responses is completely double faced. The reality is exactly the opposite. She's very dismissive, impatient and rude. Total of 2 calls I had with her, one is calling as an inquiry from the yelp page, 2nd is just that one call on my case after hiring her that was simply impossible to set up. Working usewith her is very painful and I consider it a total waste of money. I deserve a refund to be honest. I have green filing for e-filing court documents and have written many my own motions on my civil case. Hiring a paralegal to fill out forms is supposed to reduce some stress from my life, yet it did absolutely nothing for it, plus being rude to getting yelled at also totally killed it. Update /// In our contract of $1500 of divorce and QDRO, the first $500 is application including serving. Me not continuing the judgement phase does not give her the right to do only partial service on the 1st $500. This is dishonorable. She stated that I'm out to get her in her response below, which is despicable. Who in the world going through a divorce would have the mind and time to ruin a paralegal's life for fun? As the other reviewer said, it didn't take a few days, it took many weeks. My issue is never time, but the total lack of professionalism. This is needless stress as well as unacceptable service. As for "working for free" per her argument is utter nonsense. $100 server fee needs to be refunded if not provided. Also, a partial refund request for inferior service was demanded which she also denied. Basically bait & switch, double faced, and then now just cunning & manipulative. I just finalized a 3 year divorce, and in the beginning I had some money for legal fees, and so I could afford an attorney, but after the first year, I had to defend myself in the divorce, because the money was just gone. My divorce was probably one of the most complicated divorces I have personally witnessed, because there was DV and because we owned a music licensing business together. All kinds of ridiculous things took place. My music was sold away without my permission and so, I used Kat for some very difficult things. We subpoenaed 2 Publishers, a Trust that my ex never told me about, and of course his bank statements. Kat made an already difficult situation even more complicated by not following up and communicating in a timely manner. Once you pay her, Kat is nearly impossible to get ahold of. She does not keep her word on any of the dates she gives. She made several errors on the paperwork that I had to catch. She was paid to draft an agreement and committed to a date. Once she was paid, she would not respond to calls, texts or emails. When she finally drafted the agreement (a week and a half late) the other party had changed their mind.
