I am an old time thrift shopper. I have been in many stores over the years. The Hamilton Goodwill…read morestore impresses me. Not only are the prices right but the Personnel are great and friendly. I always like to shop in a clean store and Hamilton Goodwill stands out as an example to other stores. Although I gave a 4-star rating I think they are moving rapidly to five star. I recommend them highly.

I'm on a fixed income so I shop at Goodwill very regularly. Today I watched as two young boys were…read moreplaying kick ball in the toy aisle. They were crashing into the lowest shelves and yelling as they played. I was about to talk to an employee, because who lets children behave that way in a shopping center, when another shopper told the boys they should be careful because of all of the glass on the end caps, that they could break things or get hurt. I was relieved. The next thing I witness is the mother of the boys, with a baby on her hip, go up to the shopper and stick her finger in her face and yell at her. The mother said the most offensive and obscene things I've ever heard in a public space including calling the shopper a "f-word b-word" and then she called her a "see you next Tuesday" with a BABY IN HER ARMS, while the boys watched and heard! The mother was upset that this shopper had even spoken to her children but it was obvious that she was embarrassed that someone had made it known that those boys were unsupervised and frankly out of control. (My own mother would've dragged me out of any store by the skin of my neck if I had ever behaved that way.) The shopper could be heard trying to explain that it takes a village to raise children and that she was trying to keep them safe, and that she could've been mean to the boys but hadn't. The mother was joined by two other young women that appeared to know her who joined in on the verbal assault of the shopper. I looked around for an employee and even though the exchange had escalated to yelling no employees were diffusing the situation. It was heartbreaking to see this shopper who obviously only had the best interests of the children and the store itself in mind be treated in such a fashion. I was in such shock at this abhorrent scene that I didn't come to her aid and I regret that. I'm also a senior and none of the people in that group, in my opinion of degenerates, acted as if they would heed my interference well. I quietly watched as the shopper made her way to the checkout counter then leave while the group stood in a large circle continuing to make snide and rude remarks. I was so upset that nothing had been done about those boys or their mother that I left without making a purchase. I found that my vehicle was parked next to the shoppers vehicle as she was just sitting there behind her wheel. I slowly approached her car and after a little wave she rolled down her window and I asked her if she was alright. The shopper thanked me for my concern, I told her how sorry I was that no one had come to her aid and that I sympathized with what she had done, and then she shared with me that she had just got off of the phone with the manager whose name I believe is Jonas but she could have said Jonah, who had told her that her only recourse was to call the police. She and I couldn't believe that this group of unruly and dangerous people weren't going to be trespassed! As a former business owner that's the least I would've done for a customer in that situation but obviously neither the manager nor the staff were going to take or had taken any actions. The shopper told me that she may pursue some kind of legal action but she most certainly was never returning to this Goodwill ever again, and neither am I. SHAME on the manager and the staff for not only not protecting the merchandise from unsupervised and neglected children but mostly for letting that mother and her troupe of miscreants say such horrendous things to someone who was only looking out for the safety of unaccompanied minors.
