I really wish I'd read reviews like this one before I booked. Safe Ship picked up my furniture for an interstate move. About two weeks later -- the same day I signed my new lease -- I sent them my destination address and move-in date. And then... nothing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called. I called again. I kept calling for over a week before anyone bothered to respond.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Meanwhile I'm sitting in an empty apartment I'm paying rent on, with no idea where my stuff is or when it's coming. The driver calls me the day before to say I owe hundreds of dollars extra because the truck they loaded my stuff onto is too big for the streets at my destination, so they have to transfer everything to a smaller one. I gave them this address weeks earlier. Weeks to look at a map. Instead they wait until I have literally no choice but to pay whatever they ask. It's been a while since our move from Texas to Colorado but I feel that I need to warn my fellow Americans of how awful these people were. It all began with a phone call. Now my husband made the initial call and arrangements with Safe Ship. They didn't come to the house, simply wanted an inventory over the phone. ADVICE: Use a company who will come into the house and do the inventory for you. This cost us greatly later. They After getting bids from three companies, my husband opted for Safe Ship. He also added on packing services. He had to leave and go out of town so I handled the follow up call. They verified the inventory over the phone. Moving Day arrives. I had packed up actually a fair bit of stuff and I am glad I did. They showed up very late. They looked around and said "you have more stuff than we thought". And demanded a cashier's check in the amount of $3000 or they turn around. We were dumbfounded. Seeing little option we went to the bank and got the check. They took it and went to work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The men were not very nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The "packing" was abhorrent. My KitchenAid stand mixer was "padded" with my glass tumblers. My paintings were stuck face to face together (destroyed). So many things were broken. And they used this awful brown tape that, to this day, I still have to look at because I cannot take the residue off. The following day a new crew arrive. They are angry because the first crew didn't get as much done as needed (well, yeah, they were 6 hours late). Of course our items arrive super late (no surprise there). Follow up: This experience only became more frustrating during their attempt to resolve the situation. Safe Ship had the third-party moving company send me a settlement document to sign that contained contradictory and confusing language. Before signing, I had the document reviewed and was advised not to sign it unless several provisions were revised. I submitted my requested changes, but they refused to modify any of the language. Shortly afterward, Safe Ship emailed me stating they had done everything in their power to help resolve the issue. That was not consistent with my experience. No meaningful effort was made to address my concerns or negotiate reasonable revisions to the document. Based on the legal advice I received, signing the document as written could have exposed me to unnecessary legal risk. I did not believe it fairly reflected the circumstances or adequately protected my interests. I hired Safe Ship to coordinate my move, and I believe they should have taken responsibility for resolving the problems and issuing an appropriate refund without requiring me to sign a document that I was advised not to accept. Overall, I felt misled throughout this process, from the initial promises to the attempted resolution. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage others to carefully review all paperwork and consider other moving companies before choosing Safe Ship. read more

Do not use this company. They use bait and switch tactics to greatly increase the amounts they charge for services. After your initial quote they book your move at a low figure. Then, two days before the date of your move they call again to "verify" your items. At this point the size and type of items you are moving is drastically different than what they were before. They will increase the amount of space you will "need" and effectively double your moving cost. Oh, they will apologize for the missreprentation of your items on the first quote. If you don't want to read this I'll include the highlights here: I booked a reservation with safeship 11 months in advance and after confirming the appointment 5 days before the pick up they canceled the move in the last hour of the two day time window force refunded me and hung up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is after I was passed between customer service agents for 7 hours.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Absolutely do not trust this company with your money or your move there are so many better companies out there. To start with the relevant details, my partner and I decided to move from the second largest city in Montana to just outside of Orlando Florida. Both places have large population centers and developed logistics chains. In July 2025 I ordered a floating reservation with a Safeship agent who suggested the main benefit of doing so was to secure the rate even through their busiest season (the spring and summer). Under his instruction I did so which turned out to be massively beneficial with the increase in gas prices following the Iran conflict. We eventually settled on June 28-29 as our move out date, over the next 11 months I received multiple phone calls and emails requiring me to sign new BOLs (remember safeship is a broker not a carrier) which I did promptly with each one. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fast forwarding to a week before our big move I received a call from Alexander Popke, a QA Agent, responsible for getting the final count for our move. He informed me the appointment was booked, the requirements for all boxes and items at pick up and the procedure.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He informed me the carrier would provide a 2-4 hour time window 24-48 hours before the pick up. Remember my reservation was 2 days in total so a smaller time window is very beneficial when dealing with the matters of moving. Moving to the 28th, my partner and I are in the throughs of saying goodbyes to our friends and loved ones while moving all our boxes to the staging area in our house for safeship to pick them up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We still haven't heard anything from safeship which I find strange because they promised a 24-48 hour pre call.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We get all our stuff finalized by the end of the 28th and take our last nights sleep in our old home on the floor to ensure we are ready for the company the following morning. The following morning at 7 AM on the 29th, the second day of our window I call safeship directly since they have not provided a pre call, asking when the truck will arrive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After remaining on hold for 45 minutes and being passed between 3 agents, they told me there was an issue with the carrier and they will have to rebook another for later in the day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] At this point my partner and I are stressed but confident in the agents that assured us they will assign another carrier. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Over the next 12 hours I spent over 7 hours on hold or on the phone with multiple safeship agents being passed between departments and different agents.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Over the course of this experience I was hung up on 5 times and placed on 30+ minute holds multiple times.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] At this point I'm both frustrated and desperate because my lease expires on the following day and I've been depending on this company to move my stuff for a year. They were the fundamental part of the plan for our move. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After being assured they'd find a different truck by both Dylan and Dexter, the two agents that didn't hang up on me they transferred me up to their manager.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] At 6PM on the 29th, 23 hours before my lease expires, Joshua, the manager at the safeship call center told me he had force initiated a refund of my deposit I had placed 11 MONTHS AGO. Without my consent or permission, he told us they simply couldn't fulfill the job and now it was up to me to figure it out. All of my stuff staged in my living room to their specifications ready for a pick up I booked a year and advance and they told me the day of, a moved that was confirmed just a week before couldn't happen. They offered me no alternative, no assistance in finding another way to move my stuff simply force refunded my deposit said good luck and hung up. So I have this to say to safeship moving company. I depended on you for my move, I fulfilled every requirement you had, signed every bill of lating, answered all relevant phone calls related to the move. I was on call with one of your agents for the final count the Wednesday before our move where he assured me everything was okay for the pick up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Mike starts trying to close a deal, asking for my credit card information so we can book the move. I explain to him that I'm still in the planning process and am not ready to commit to anything and I repeat my request for a quote/estimate emailed to me as I consider all my options. Mike was not happy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]He starts badgering me asking why I would look somewhere else and who else I was considering since they can match quotes. I shared the name of another company I was considering and had received a quote from. He trash talks that company but in no way offers to match their price.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]At this point I was pretty irritated. The first person who helped me was so much kinder. It is unclear when you book your move that they are only brokers - they subcontract out and once your move starts they are entirely unhelpful in providing service or information and assistance when things go awry.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The person that was subcontracted out to pack and pick up our things arrived with no blankets, packed dishes and kitchenware with no paper, wrapped rigid furniture in plastic without protecting the corners and packed artworks by wrapping plastic across the surface of oil paintings with no boxing. They were late even though we paid for expedited. Do not use this company. I originally posted a review about how painless they made this experience. I was very WRONG!!! Here's our experience This company will lie to you to get your business. Then scam you by adding on additional fees before final delivery. They originally quoted us $3400 for our move to win the job. They knew we were bidding out other companies. They weren't the cheapest. But we decided to go with them because of the professionalism. Upon pick up, we had everything WRAPPED and PACKED in a storage unit. All they did was load it in a truck. Before departure, they then tried to charge us $8000. You can imagine the response. We had more than quoted but we were quoted 650 cubic feet. We had 800. So we were expecting to pay more, but not $8000 worth. They then reevaluated to $7200 final delivery price. Although still out of price range, we were at their mercy so we agreed and moved on. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They won't communicate with you well throughout the delivery process. Thankfully we threw an AirTag in our boxes so we could monitor the truck. If we didn't do that, we would have never had any updates. They don't communicate with you for delivery, we had to chase them down.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Today, we can see they are an hour outside of our house. We get a call that they won't deliver because the truck they loaded is too big. But they can deliver!! We just watched a 26' truck unload in the ally way days before. Now they are holding our stuff ransom and requesting $800 more so they can load into another truck they feel comfortable delivering in. Moving is already stressful and trying to stay on a budget is IMPOSSIBLE if you work with these people. We are now having to get a uhaul. Meet at a location they want to meet at to pick up our stuff. This is my 7th move, and I've never experienced unprofessionalism like this. $8K is a lot of money and I'd be happy to pay it if I was getting the service I was promised. I have moved several times in my life but this has to be the worst moving experience I ever had. I had sent pictures and detailed descriptions of how much was to be moved. All those movers did was complained about how much work was involved. They were very careless with our things. They offered and we accepted that our things go into storage for a few weeks until our closing. Getting our things back was very difficult. They had told us a couple of days notice. But then demanded a few weeks. The damage was incredible. Almost every piece of furniture was damaged in some way or another. They took some furniture like beds apart but lost the hardware to put it back together. Wooden furniture has large dents and scratches. Many pieces of China, crystal and pottery were broken beyond repair. Some of those pieces were antiques. We tried to put in a claim but were told we needed packing lists which we were never given. The movers were lazy and careless. Suddenly the price increased to 13k. Since it was so close to the move date we had no choice but to pay the extra money. Instead, they sub-contract the movers. They lie just to make the sale. They sold us a "white glove" service, however when the guys arrived with the load, they did not unpack the TV's and throw away the box and wrappings. They did not assemble the tables. They told me my move was going to take 5-6 days and it took 9. Also, make sure it's not raining, because if they can't bring down the furniture due to the rain, they charge you $650 per day for holding the furniture. I personally had a nightmare experience and was conned. They don't honor the cancellation policy. When my moving day came, I asked if the final bill would be additional. I was told "maybe". Only after my items were loaded I received a "bait and switch" bill for over 1400 from my estimate. For interstate moves this is illegal and also goes against the Safe Ship contract. My guaranteed delivery date came and went with little communication regarding a "broken down truck". They were 5 days late. This has become my standard place to come and ship items to my kids in different parts of the United States. I have shipped standard things like presents as well as odd things, including an electric piano keyboard and an antique baby bassinet. They have done a great job with all of their packing and shipping. All of my items arrive safe and sound and in good shape. I have also use them for converting our wedding VCR to a DVD. You probably could do easier online as they simply just send it to another company and it's not done in the house. I see all the reviews that are negative for a moving company, but this is actually a shipping company or UPS, Postal Service, FedEx... Beware. If you are inexperienced in googling for a business (as I am as an elderly woman), the initial search just shows Safe Ship as being Long Distance movers w/pix of men packing etc. On phone they state they are Veteran owned & operated. I fell for that and trusted the agent on the phone (brother killed in Vietnam and son currently in military). They do NOT TELL you why they are not coming to your home to do physical inventory (as they are NOT the movers). Initially quoted 4,570.18 to move from San Jose, CA to Rancho Cordova, CA. On move day, I was dealing with a totally different company, "Best Moving Van Lines, Santa Clara, CA" (very late at both pick-up and delivery, very rude, unprofessional, didn't speak English well and definitely NOT veterans). The price was upped by 1,455.83! This brought my total to $6,026.01. I had to go along with it - had to be out by 5! Safe Ship is obviously not very skilled with "estimates". My furniture was deliberately damaged because I wanted to pay AFTER my belongs were inside new home. The foreman was holding my belongings hostage in their truck unless i paid balance FIRST. I was 'forced" to go along with this second company (I had to be out by 5 pm!!) and I signed papers without reading fine print (in which you agree to 60 cents per pound on any claim (IF they recognize damage). Best Moving presently has a 1.4 Yelp rating (with 190 reviews). Why would Safe Ship turn me over to such a POOR PERFORMING company? Because they are deceitful, NON disclosing, nor ethical. They use the word "veteran" for company profit and is truly an insult. Don't let this happen to you. read more

Everything started out great. I received an estimate, two actually, the first estimate missed item. I paid half and waited for my move date. Karl called and we went through everything. His estimate had exceeded the original quote for square footage. I looked back and found some of the things I thought they said they added... they had not. Even so, I deleted a 6 burner outside grill, a side feed smoker, a stand-up air compressor, 40 medium boxes, and a 42 inch cut riding lawn mower. I found a 7'x7'x18" cabinet and a two person out side glider that I told them about, but missed on the inventory list... that's was my mistake think they were professional. I attended to bring this to their attention, but got nowhere. I'm retired Navy and thought this outfit would treat me honestly... they didn't in my opinion. Absolutely abysmal and atrocious customer service. On 12/05/25 I signed up for moving services with them through Michael Herrero. Over the next several days I received multiple phone calls to confirm my services. On 12/08 I received another phone call from Karl Williamson to "confirm" my moving and essentially attempted to double the price. As I was getting closer to the moving date, I was extremely stressed and anxious, and I attempted to cancel on this date. They intentionally took an excessive two days to respond to my cancellation request, therefore I "violated" the cancellation agreement of failing to cancel within 72 hours, even though I did. They fail to disclose that you need actually need to cancel your services with them the same day you sign up for them, due to their long turn-around time, in order to actually get your money back. This company very clearly practices unethical and predatory business practices, and does not fulfill a fiduciary duty to their clients. Their policies and agreements fail to accurately disclose information. They are dishonest, indirect, and will bombard you with numerous phone calls from multiple individuals. I will be filing a BBB complaint and most likely filing complaints through other avenues as well. Unfortunately there is not an option to give them negative 5 stars. read more

They sold my move-to-Move King which sent the moving company to our house. They went through our belongings we were not moving and stole over $2000 in personal goods. I did a compalint and have never heard a word back. Beware do not use this company. read more

They quoted one price 3 days before they doubled it, they promised it was vet. Owned, the team that picked up will deliver, all of the above is a lie when the two guys came. One stayed in an unmarked truck k no name on the truck, they said this isn't on the list, this isn't on the list, bull he wrote up yet another list added a ironing board and it would take up 6 cuft bull again then this guy that was not a vet told us it would be passed off at least 3 times wanted another 9500. Dollars so it went from 4k to 10k in 2 hrs, the guy kept added on items that were on the list. Dont use theses people they are a con artist. And if you refuse to pay the extra amt the girl on phone said they would then o my ship the fee items they had on the list rate them a neg 30 if we could. read more

My move experience was not very good. My first quote I received (I believe) was intentionally quoted smaller to make it seem like a better deal than it was. Then, they call you the week before the move to 'double check' your moving items; my price jumped up 20% after already signing the contract. They really sold me on a 2-10 business day timeline for a 900 mile move, with a little wink wink towards the shorter end. [[HIGHLIGHT]]On the 10th business day, I had to call customer service to find out what was going on and was told by a very helpful manager (Kyra) that this never happens and that Safe Ship takes this matter seriously[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (even though they TECHNICALLY could take up to 30 days legally to get you your stuff). The delivery guys again showed up late on the 12th business day past their day of delivery window. I thought the quality of the moving crews were great, careful, and all of my stuff was handled great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In a follow up call with another Supervisor (Francis) my overall experience with Safe Ship was downplayed with blame shifting to the carrier.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I don't believe this company is trustworthy as they will sell you on a certain level of service, but then not own up to the level of service they ACTUALLY provide. After about an hour we finally got through to someone and they told us the company backed out and we were never notified!! Pretty awful company! Worst communication ever! After I requested an estimate the dude called me TWELVE TIMES the next day to book! Very pushy, pretty aggressive, very unpleasant. The day of pick up, I found out he made my reservation wrong and they were planing on packing a studio apt, I had a 2 bed house..... Poor guys that had to pack my place. They were super nice but I know they were mad because they packed their trash in my boxes, empty rolls of tape and an empty water bottle. Also broke 3 or my picture frames of my dog who just passed Then had the decency to charged me an extra $1440 on day of delivery THAT NOONE TOLD ME ABOUT!! At first I refused to give the extra money so the driver locked himself in the truck held my stuff HOSTAGE! until I was forced to give the extra money. Then had an attitude the hole time! They started off good, then started adding unexpected fees that had to be paid in cash or else we would not get our furniture. It seems the furniture was transferred to at least 3 different trucks before it was delivered and it was damaged. They were also late, we waited 24 hours from the time they said it would be delivered with 3 updated delivery times and even then they were an hour later than they said. When they arrived, there was only one mover (the driver) to move our heavy furniture, no wonder some things were damaged. Would not recommend. read more

Safeship is company with zero accountability. I called when the company they hired showed up with a leaking truck. Yes, there was a hole in it. Instead of changing the truck or carrier or refunding me money for the inconvenience of having to stay home for two days, they fined the carrier $500. I saw none of that. The carrier even called me to ask me to ask Safeship to return the money to them. The only positive experience was with the initial salesperson. Funny how that works. When I had an issue, I would call and never receive a callback. They fraudulently said that Safeship employs veterans. The people who moved my items were barely of age and hadn't served a day in their life. As a veteran I went with them, but when all of my items showed up water damaged, did they help? Not a bit. All they said was that the carrier was responsible. Not just items that I can replace with extreme cost, but irreplaceable photos. Not only had the transport truck had a leak, but the semi truck had one as well. My stuff was transported in two inches of water. On calling Safeship, they refused even a small refund. They said verbatim "I wouldn't see one dollar." That's how they treat vets and customers. PLEASE, if you want to book a move, do not use them or a third party broker. Go direct and insure your items privately as moving insurance through the company makes it unaffordable. Shame on the people who work at SafeShip. I trusted you with my life's possessions. Not only were you complicit in destroying them, but made extra money from the carrier by fining them for unprofessionalism and faulty equipment. read more
