I really wish I'd read reviews like this one before I booked. Safe Ship picked up my furniture for an interstate move. About two weeks later -- the same day I signed my new lease -- I sent them my destination address and move-in date. And then... nothing. I called. I called again. I kept calling for over a week before anyone bothered to respond. Meanwhile I'm sitting in an empty apartment I'm paying rent on, with no idea where my stuff is or when it's coming. Delivery finally happened more than a month after pickup. And the cherry on top? The driver calls me the day before to say I owe hundreds of dollars extra because the truck they loaded my stuff onto is too big for the streets at my destination, so they have to transfer everything to a smaller one. I gave them this address weeks earlier. Weeks to look at a map. Instead they wait until I have literally no choice but to pay whatever they ask. And this is after they already jacked up the price right before my move date -- conveniently once it was too late for me to back out or find anyone else. I'm not someone who writes reviews. I'm writing this one because I spent over a month stressed out of my mind, sleeping in an apartment with no furniture, getting ignored, and then getting handed a bill for their mistake. That's the experience. If you're reading this trying to decide: they're a broker, not an actual moving company. They hand your stuff off to someone else and then stop answering the phone. It's been a while since our move from Texas to Colorado but I feel that I need to warn my fellow Americans of how awful these people were. It all began with a phone call. Now my husband made the initial call and arrangements with Safe Ship. They didn't come to the house, simply wanted an inventory over the phone. ADVICE: Use a company who will come into the house and do the inventory for you. This cost us greatly later. They After getting bids from three companies, my husband opted for Safe Ship. He also added on packing services. He had to leave and go out of town so I handled the follow up call. They verified the inventory over the phone. Moving Day arrives. I had packed up actually a fair bit of stuff and I am glad I did. They showed up very late. They looked around and said "you have more stuff than we thought". And demanded a cashier's check in the amount of $3000 or they turn around. We were dumbfounded. Seeing little option we went to the bank and got the check. They took it and went to work. The men were not very nice. The "packing" was abhorrent. My KitchenAid stand mixer was "padded" with my glass tumblers. My paintings were stuck face to face together (destroyed). So many things were broken. And they used this awful brown tape that, to this day, I still have to look at because I cannot take the residue off. The following day a new crew arrive. They are angry because the first crew didn't get as much done as needed (well, yeah, they were 6 hours late). Of course our items arrive super late (no surprise there). The unloaders were better, the main guy was an engineering student so he was on top of things and let us know that he fired the guy smoking in our bathroom. When my moving day came, I asked if the final bill would be additional. I was told "maybe". Only after my items were loaded I received a "bait and switch" bill for over 1400 from my estimate. For interstate moves this is illegal and also goes against the Safe Ship contract. My guaranteed delivery date came and went with little communication regarding a "broken down truck". They were 5 days late. the driver called me the evening prior to delivery and when I told him that I would not be paying the additional money for the guarentee date he informed me that he would "take my sh*t back". Upon delivery, 30% of my items were missing or damaged. When I escalated this with Safe Ship they simply didn't care. They are more interested in screwing their customers out of money then anything else. They take no accountability for their subcontractors. Please please do not use these movers. CON ARTISTS, UNBELIEVABLY HIGH PRESSURE, super RUDE and THREATENING when I followed their EXACT POLICY for cancellation. Booked a move for three weeks out. Forced to book (pay) immediately on that call to ensure they would do the job. Upon comparison, other companies follow the same DOT guidelines and are cheaper and far more professional. Upcharges for everything then they discount some to make customers feel they're getting some amazing deal. I believe in getting multiple (3) quotes prior to making decisions on which company to go with. They ensured me it would be an easy process within 3 days to be refunded if I chose to go with another company- even had that writing. I cancelled within 2 hours and was hassled, haggled, and threatened by THREE people. Cancellation was never completed. Had to go through our bank to cancel check. Agent would not stop sending me messages with a threatening tone even after I asked several times to not be contacted again. They say "veteran owned and no 1 in country, that they have 99% approval rating after over 60,000 to 80,000 moves" (different people gave different numbers). Check out their 2.2 YELP rating. Google reviews total less than 700- after 60-80k happy customers? Many complaints with BBB. Investigate this company before booking with them! I personally had a nightmare experience and was conned. They don't honor the cancellation policy. I sent a screenshot of the threatening texts to the GM- who turned out to also be unprofessional, dishonest, and never cancelled our move while going through their exact procedure and guarantee for refund. Other companies may charge a bit more, but surely wouldn't be as badgering and unprofessional as this company. No doubt other companies would not put a customer through the haggling, and still not honor their own policies, and sending threatening text messages. It's hard to believe a company who talked about being "owned by veterans" would be a company of dishonorable, unprofessional, threatening men. What a disservice to our veterans! They were wonderful through the booking process, but completely transformed when I cancelled exactly as their refund policy promises. Awful company, NOTHING went according to the contract I signed, all the employees here are unprofessional and rude especially Olivia one of the managers who argued with me for 45 minutes justifying why they should charge me $1k extra than quoted when my inventory was actually LESS than the agreed and signed price quote. This has become my standard place to come and ship items to my kids in different parts of the United States. I have shipped standard things like presents as well as odd things, including an electric piano keyboard and an antique baby bassinet. They have done a great job with all of their packing and shipping. All of my items arrive safe and sound and in good shape. I have also use them for converting our wedding VCR to a DVD. You probably could do easier online as they simply just send it to another company and it's not done in the house. I see all the reviews that are negative for a moving company, but this is actually a shipping company or UPS, Postal Service, FedEx... If you are inexperienced in googling for a business (as I am as an elderly woman), the initial search just shows Safe Ship as being Long Distance movers w/pix of men packing etc. On phone they state they are Veteran owned & operated. I fell for that and trusted the agent on the phone (brother killed in Vietnam and son currently in military). They do NOT TELL you why they are not coming to your home to do physical inventory (as they are NOT the movers). Initially quoted 4,570.18 to move from San Jose, CA to Rancho Cordova, CA. On move day, I was dealing with a totally different company, "Best Moving Van Lines, Santa Clara, CA" (very late at both pick-up and delivery, very rude, unprofessional, didn't speak English well and definitely NOT veterans). The price was upped by 1,455.83! This brought my total to $6,026.01. I had to go along with it - had to be out by 5! Safe Ship is obviously not very skilled with "estimates". My furniture was deliberately damaged because I wanted to pay AFTER my belongs were inside new home. The foreman was holding my belongings hostage in their truck unless i paid balance FIRST. I was 'forced" to go along with this second company (I had to be out by 5 pm!!) and I signed papers without reading fine print (in which you agree to 60 cents per pound on any claim (IF they recognize damage). Best Moving presently has a 1.4 Yelp rating (with 190 reviews). Why would Safe Ship turn me over to such a POOR PERFORMING company? Because they are deceitful, NON disclosing, nor ethical. Everything started out great. I received an estimate, two actually, the first estimate missed item. I paid half and waited for my move date. Karl called and we went through everything. His estimate had exceeded the original quote for square footage. I looked back and found some of the things I thought they said they added... they had not. Even so, I deleted a 6 burner outside grill, a side feed smoker, a stand-up air compressor, 40 medium boxes, and a 42 inch cut riding lawn mower. I found a 7'x7'x18" cabinet and a two person out side glider that I told them about, but missed on the inventory list... that's was my mistake think they were professional. I attended to bring this to their attention, but got nowhere. I'm retired Navy and thought this outfit would treat me honestly... they didn't in my opinion. Absolutely abysmal and atrocious customer service. On 12/05/25 I signed up for moving services with them through Michael Herrero. Over the next several days I received multiple phone calls to confirm my services. On 12/08 I received another phone call from Karl Williamson to "confirm" my moving and essentially attempted to double the price. As I was getting closer to the moving date, I was extremely stressed and anxious, and I attempted to cancel on this date. They intentionally took an excessive two days to respond to my cancellation request, therefore I "violated" the cancellation agreement of failing to cancel within 72 hours, even though I did. They fail to disclose that you need actually need to cancel your services with them the same day you sign up for them, due to their long turn-around time, in order to actually get your money back. This company very clearly practices unethical and predatory business practices, and does not fulfill a fiduciary duty to their clients. Their policies and agreements fail to accurately disclose information. They are dishonest, indirect, and will bombard you with numerous phone calls from multiple individuals. They quoted one price 3 days before they doubled it, they promised it was vet. Owned, the team that picked up will deliver, all of the above is a lie when the two guys came. One stayed in an unmarked truck k no name on the truck, they said this isn't on the list, this isn't on the list, bull he wrote up yet another list added a ironing board and it would take up 6 cuft bull again then this guy that was not a vet told us it would be passed off at least 3 times wanted another 9500. My move experience was not very good. My first quote I received (I believe) was intentionally quoted smaller to make it seem like a better deal than it was. Then, they call you the week before the move to 'double check' your moving items; my price jumped up 20% after already signing the contract. They really sold me on a 2-10 business day timeline for a 900 mile move, with a little wink wink towards the shorter end. On the 10th business day, I had to call customer service to find out what was going on and was told by a very helpful manager (Kyra) that this never happens and that Safe Ship takes this matter seriously (even though they TECHNICALLY could take up to 30 days legally to get you your stuff). The delivery guys again showed up late on the 12th business day past their day of delivery window. I thought the quality of the moving crews were great, careful, and all of my stuff was handled great. In a follow up call with another Supervisor (Francis) my overall experience with Safe Ship was downplayed with blame shifting to the carrier. I don't believe this company is trustworthy as they will sell you on a certain level of service, but then not own up to the level of service they ACTUALLY provide. Once they get your money and contract, they will not care about you as a customer and bad reviews are one of the only ways we as consumers can make our voice heard. read more

They started off good, then started adding unexpected fees that had to be paid in cash or else we would not get our furniture. It seems the furniture was transferred to at least 3 different trucks before it was delivered and it was damaged. They were also late, we waited 24 hours from the time they said it would be delivered with 3 updated delivery times and even then they were an hour later than they said. Safeship is company with zero accountability. I called when the company they hired showed up with a leaking truck. Yes, there was a hole in it. Instead of changing the truck or carrier or refunding me money for the inconvenience of having to stay home for two days, they fined the carrier $500. I saw none of that. The carrier even called me to ask me to ask Safeship to return the money to them. The only positive experience was with the initial salesperson. Funny how that works. When I had an issue, I would call and never receive a callback. They fraudulently said that Safeship employs veterans. The people who moved my items were barely of age and hadn't served a day in their life. As a veteran I went with them, but when all of my items showed up water damaged, did they help? Not a bit. All they said was that the carrier was responsible. Not just items that I can replace with extreme cost, but irreplaceable photos. Not only had the transport truck had a leak, but the semi truck had one as well. My stuff was transported in two inches of water. On calling Safeship, they refused even a small refund. They said verbatim "I wouldn't see one dollar." That's how they treat vets and customers. PLEASE, if you want to book a move, do not use them or a third party broker. Go direct and insure your items privately as moving insurance through the company makes it unaffordable. Shame on the people who work at SafeShip. I trusted you with my life's possessions. Pretty awful company! Worst communication ever! After I requested an estimate the dude called me TWELVE TIMES the next day to book! Very pushy, pretty aggressive, very unpleasant. The day of pick up, I found out he made my reservation wrong and they were planing on packing a studio apt, I had a 2 bed house..... Poor guys that had to pack my place. They were super nice but I know they were mad because they packed their trash in my boxes, empty rolls of tape and an empty water bottle. If I could leave negative stars I would. We had safe ship move my my mom's house 100 miles and we also used their car transport service. The house move was good. Movers were timely and got the job done however the car transport was a nightmare. I scheduled the house move and car transport for the same day to be a same day move for both. Car transport was to be an enclosed trailer for my deceased dad's remodeled 1930 Ford model A hot rod. The car is irreplaceable. When the day of the move came the car people never showed up and when I called the customer service lady called me a liar saying that they would have never booked a same day car transport. I requested an investigation into the recorded call and she said they would look into it. She then said she would try and find a driver to do my transport since the people I booked were not available this day. I had to call her back hours later and the cost had gone up and I now wasn't getting an enclosed transport. The price went up because "it was a last minute booking" when I had originally booked a month prior. The driver showed up 4 hours later and could not speak one word of English so we were unable to communicate with him. My husband followed him from one house to the other but they got separated and my husband got to the second house 100 miles away TWO AND A HALF HOURS before the driver. It took him over 4 hours and my husband 2 hours to go the same distance at the same time of day. The car did finally make it but safe ship didnt seem to care about our horrible experience and being called a liar. Do not use this company to ship your car!!! read more

Warning! Safe Ship is a scam. They are just brokers who take your booking order and then pass it on to moving companies that they select that are at best not professional -- at worst shady. The heartwarming story about this being a veteran, family owned company are the last good words you'll hear. They delivered on absolutely NOTHING they promised in booking our contract. Our belongings were supposed to be crated individually and NOT removed from the moving truck as it made its way cross country. This was a deal breaker and we paid extra. This did not happen and as a consequence we had a huge amount of breakage and 3-5 lost boxes including office computers. Part of our deal was extra packing for an antique desk. The movers had no idea. They did not do the extra wrapping and a leg was broken off. All Safe Ship does is book the moving contract promising ANYTHING and then they disappear and have NO liability for loss or breakage. It then goes to a moving company you never talked to before. We are a military family, and tried using safe ship moving services to get items from our storage unit to our home during our current PCS. From an apparently veteran owned company, you would think the awareness of us letting them know we are moving during a government shutdown would be present and understand the stress of the shut down as well as trying to find help. We called on a Monday to schedule a pickup for the following Wednesday, then cancelled and rescheduled for Thursday. they told us they would guarantee our items would be picked up Thursday once the documents they sent via email were signed by us. They called us at 3pm and sent an email saying our move was cancelled. we called MULTIPLE times asking when our estimated time frame was for our items to be picked up and they would transfer us until someone said "we will call back and let you know" and we never received an answer. For the price they were wanting to charge, the customer service and constant cancelling and rescheduling last minute was extremely unprofessional. We will never recommend safeship to anyone we know. read more

Every time I spoke with safe ship I was asked if a 26ft moving truck could fit on the street and in the driveway of the house I was moving from and the house I was moving to. Not once did anyone ever ask me if an 18 wheeler could get down the street, or to the house on either end. I was also told in every conversation that the delivery time was 5-14 days from the day of pickup, I was never told anything about a 30 day delivery window per DOT. The first time I was told there was a 30 day window was when I called safe ship after 15 days on Oct 9th and my stuff had not been delivered. At that time I was informed that it was 14 business days from my first available delivery date (Sept 29th) and not 14 days from my pickup date. So I called again on Oct 15th and was then told that my stuff hadn't even left CO due to a pickup fee not being paid, and that they actually had 30 days per DOT regulations (first time anyone had ever told me this after multiple conversations with safe ship) to deliver. Also no one ever contacted me or told me about any pickup fee that I hadn't paid. 3 guys in an enterprise rental truck showed up at my house to load the small amount of things I had to be moved when they were done they asked me to sign a piece of paper and told me that I did not owe anything else my deposit covered it all. The next person I heard from was someone from Southwest van lines telling me that I owed $6000 on Oct 16th. I immediately called Safe ship back to find out what was going on and why I was being told I owed the whole amount of the original move cost even though I had paid an almost $3000 deposit, and taken 90%+ of the stuff off the list from that estimate. They also told me that anything removed would be taken care of at pickup which is again why I thought my deposit covered everything. On Oct 17th I received a call from Sky with safe ship who gave me what she said was her direct line (561-717-7785) and that I could call her anytime to ask questions or to discuss issues (first time I tried to call I found out it was not her direct number). She also told me that she would look into me being charged for 918 cu ft when I had way less than that, and that she would get a copy of the bill of lading from southwest van lines since I didn't get a copy (I never got that from her, and didn't get a copy until today when my stuff was delivered). I was also told multiple times that for delivery I could use Zelle, Venmo, cashapp, or paypal, only to find out the day of delivery that I had to have cash or a postal money order, and that they were holding my stuff until I paid in full and amount that was never discussed with me. I was sent a text yesterday that my delivery would be Oct 22nd 4-7 pm so I took off work early to get home for delivery. At 5:56pm I got another text saying delivery would be 7:30-8:30pm, around 20 minutes after I get a phone call telling me my delivery will be 8-11am on Oct 23rd this morning. So I took more time off work to for my delivery. At 10:02 on Oct 23rd I get a text from the driver showing me a sign restricting 18 wheeler from coming into this neighborhood and asked me to meet him at 3820 Ross Clark Circle in Dothan Al. I go to meet him to be told that now I will be charged another $1 per cu ft for a delivery service to get my stuff to my house. I want to state here again that I was never asked if an 18 wheeler could get to this house all I was ever asked was if a 26ft moving truck could get up/down this street and into my driveway. At this point I am told I must pay them $2767 in fees to get my stuff delivered. They are still charging me for 918 cu ft of stuff when there was at the very most 600 cu ft ( I doubt there was even that much), even the delivery driver said 500 maybe 600 cu ft off stuff. I have video of how empty the 26ft moving truck was when they finally delivered my stuff. The delivery company was southwest van lines, and to pay them was like a drug deal. They took full advantage of the fact that I was looking to get a move done cheaply and quickly. They are unforgiving and will hide behind a garbage reimbursement policy unless you elect full valuation coverage and painstakingly elect all items that should be replaced. Why should I even pay a company that doesn't make my move more convenient than driving cross country myself? Several of my items are just straight up missing, others damaged. If you are simply dropping off... save yourself and drop off at Walgreen's or schedule a pick up from your home or office with FedEx. I just went here and as I was closing up my shipping box I was told to step away from the table. There are no signs and it is the only table to set your box on. The old ladies that work here seemed to think I was behind the table when in actuality I was on the side. I was only at the side because they have a chair and other junk in front of it. Since this was my third or fourth time dealing with poor customer service at this establishment, I decided to voice my frustration stating "it's always something with this place". Then, their bouncer, some sort of denim-clad Elvira-looking octogenarian decided to inform me that she finds the customer service excellent and comes there twice a day. ... She is in the minority after looking at the reviews online (2.8 on Google and 2.0 on Yelp). This place has many unhappy customers that have taken their business elsewhere. Add me to the list.
