Safe Ship is a broker. You re better off just hiring a moving company yourself and not supporting a middle-man. The Safe Ship sales rep had us do an inventory a month or two before the planned pickup. The quote was more than we expected as it was difficult for us to accurately determine our cubic foot needs. To help reduce cost we gave away a lot of pricey stuff to the VFW and other charitable organizations. We didn't have time to sell things. We were still living in our home and had items in closets and cabinets that required an increase of box count. Before the move, the rep reviewed the new inventory and it increased our cost to them as well to the movers that they hire. The cost should have gone down, not up. On move day, they showed up in a UHaul truck and couldn't get everything in it, requiring us to figure out how to get the rest of our stuff to our destination by ourselves. To be fair, after several phone conversations, they admitted the cubic foot error on their part (truck not big enough) and refunded a portion of the cost. Do yourself a favor and call a moving company who will come to your place and do their own cubic foot calculations and please stay away from brokers. They are just another layer that can cause avoidable problems. Brokers hire the actual movers so if there is a problem, you have to figure out if it was in the broker's wheelhouse or within the moving company. Total set up. I was originally quoted $9500 for my move after doing an itemized inventory with the sales rep. Then they do a confirmation of the inventory a few days before the pick up, after they have already collected a 1/3 deposit. We sold two couches, tables, chairs, etc to reduce our inventory but they raised the quote to $17,500. Almost double. It's a scam company and I would never recommend. read more

Been to this location many, many times. Always great service, especially from Reese! Also, as to the person in another review claiming Comcast told them they could take a modem here, that is false. Comcast has a contract with UPS Store franchise locations (I know because I worked at one), and that those are the ONLY locations that will accept Comcast equipment except for physical Comcast stores, unless you have a preprinted, prepaid UPS label that Comcast provided you ahead of time. Also from working at the UPS Store, I can say that we also shipped USPS packages, and they frequently were NOT scanned in when picked up. Shipping locations have absolutely no control when it comes to what happens after something is picked up, after that the responsibility falls on the shipping company. I had a package that was rerouted by UPS to this location and I was unable to pick it up on time. I called safe ship to have them hold it 3 more days till I was back from out of town. The lady pretended to not understand what saying and telling me they are not a ship site, all while telling my she's looking at my package. So frustrating. read more

I have used the SafeShip at Zion's Crossroads, VA several times. Recently there were two shipment quotes that were really problematic. For one of them, a large picture box, I was quoted $200. The Troy, VA Post Office sent it priority mail for $45. The other parcel was smaller. SafeShip quoted me $100. The Troy, VA Post Office sent it priority mail for $34. I cannot explain this huge price discrepancy. It is even more puzzling, because when I gave SafeShip a USPS large flat rate box, they charged me the same price as the USPS. Staff is nice, they do every kind of shipping from usps, fedex, ups, everything. Some people complain about prices but that is because it is set by the shipping company they are working with, nothing to do with them. That's why usps is cheaper than fedex and ups generally speaking. read more

NEVER use this company to ship. Shipped package there via USPS priority, Troy USPS never scanned the package, never picked up the package, and a week later USPS still only shows label created. I called the troy post office and they have no record of, anything. But every time i called this place they gave me false information on where they package is because USPS tracking never showed anything but label created, so i called this place for information, thinking there was a glitch with USPS, but this glitch is this place giving false information. But since i called the troy post office, all this place says is, "yes they did pick it up" but if they (USPS) did it would have been scanned in, but in 7 days it's never been scanned in anywhere, and the troy post office says it was never picked up by them, because it would have been scanned in. So in other words this company has stolen the package because it was never shipped. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE!! If you want to ship something, drive the extra to a real USPS so you guarantee your package will be shipped and won't be stolen. read more

Terrible service, actually it was NO service. I was told by Xfinity (Cox Cable) that I could return my DVR cable box to any UPS shipper and that they had an agreement with them to pack up and return. It has a bar code on back so that the shipper will know how/who to bill. I checked that the bar code was there and I was moving on a weekend so this was best option for me. took it to this place and the guy said NO they did not do it, that I needed a label. I even called Xfinity while there and they told him no we did not need label as the bar code label would suffice. He would not take it. Next place took it with no trouble, easy peasy. read more

I had to update my review due to what seem as new. Management or at least change in their crusty service. First , I've been using their service since the doors were opened. I was very excited to see a shipping location opening nearby with UPS, FedEx and USPS shipping options. But my last few visits has me making the drive to the Troy post office or the UPS location in Charlottesville. On my last visit a 2 inch piece of tape from the tap dispenser laying on the counter was used by myself to reseal a corner of the box that I was shipping. Again ONLY 2 INCHES OF TAPE!! After the clerk informed me of the shipping cost , he informed me of the $1.25 additional charge for the use of their tape dispenser and the 2 inches of tape!! Are you kidding me a customer that ships 2 to 3 times a week a since you opened your doors and uses only your shipping store for all their shipping needs. It's not the mere charge but the point of the matter. I'll never use or recommend this location again!! read more

I would give 0 stars if it was an option. I've spent hundreds of dollars on vape juice and different nicotine salt vapes over the last 3 months in this joke of a store. The juices are low quality and burn coils easily, the vapes are name brand but some have been faulty. I had one that broke completely, it had been a month that I had it so I didn't try to return it or complain. I bought another salt vape last week and after a few days it turned out to be defective. Their customer service is horrible! I hoped for a refund or exchange, and like many reviews that I am seeing: no luck. The lady in there even went so far as to insinuate that It broke because I didn't know how to use it...I've had the same model of vape for 4 months... This is the type of store that should just be a fed ex place but clearly the owner is a capitalist and so they seem to sell anything that they can make money on (vapes, jewlery, vape juice, bongs, pipes, and they even have casino machines in there) with 0 knowledge of what they are selling and no concept of retaining return customers. I very nicely spelled it out that I spend 50-200 a month there and wouldn't return if this wasn't solved. Didn't matter, she didn't care and I will never return and hope that they get the same results with others as well!!! Even if I legitimately needed to FedEx something I would rather drive somewhere out of my way than to put one more penny in their greedy pockets. I'm a firm believer in supporting local businesses even if they are more expensive (which they are!) but I also expect to be treated with the care that a local business should provide. I won two framed items from an auction house in Troy, and contacted Safe Ship for a quote. They got back to me right away with a quote, so I went ahead and had them pick up the artwork for me. Shortly after they called to let me know that they could ship in one package instead of two, and saved me over $50 in the process. They packed the items very securely, and very quickly. I would used Safe Ship again in a heartbeat. read more
