I brought my car in for a windshield replacement and could not have had a better experience. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment and my car was taken back to be worked on immediately. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and helpful and I was in and out in just over an hour. The waiting room was spacious and clean and had a TV. They even offer complimentary bottles of water, coffee, and small snacks like chips and granola bars. While I hope my windshield does not crack again, I would be happy to bring my car back here if it did. read more

Has taken 5 trips to shop to get proper part ordered and installed. Communication with customer was poor and coordination between shop and corporate was also very poor. My inital appointment was rescheduled because 4 techs called out. I went to the shop 2 days later for an appointment because of rain. They told me at that appointment after taking my car into the shop that the wrong part was ordered. They orderd the new part and rescheduled for the follwoing wednesday. I return to the shop in Latham and was told once again the wrong part was ordered. They assurred me the correct part would be there the following Monday and scheduled me for Tuesday between 12 and 5 at my house. On Saturday before my appointment the corporate safelite office called me and asked for a picture of the window that needed to be replaced. They had the vehicle in there shop twice before this. Tuesday arrived and no call/ no show by the technician. I stopped in the shop on Wednesday and was told the part was ordered but had not come in. I asked if she could verify delivery date of the part. She called the local BMW dealer and found out corporate ordering has inquired about the part but did not order/pay for the part. She got corporate to order and pay for the part to be delivered the next day. The part was not delivered on Thursday, but it was delivered on Friday (today) 3+ weeks after initial claim put in. I arrived today at 10:20 AM for my appointment. At 11:30 I was told my car was done and keys were handed to me. I went to look at my car and noticed the there was tape residue from the charsh wrap they placed on the broken window. I went back in to ask about the tape residue and the tech said he tried to remove it but he could not get it off. A second tech came out took the car and removed the residue. Why if you have a customer who is obviously upset and been to the shop atleast 4 times would you not verify the quality of the work before sending back to the customer? The vehicle is fixed and appears rto be done correctly, I am waiting until the first rain or carwash to ensure there are no leaks. read more

I had two windshields replaced by Safelite the first one was in my Hummer and they broke a trim piece and told me they didn't do it. Last week I had given them another chance and let them replace the windshield in my Honda and they ruined and destroyed my rearview mirror. I'm going to ask them to replace it. On the 4th attempt no one showed up and they told me they installed the windshield (nothing was done) and after calling headquarters 4 times they can't even get in contact with this store. Scheduled an appointment for someone to come over to change out my windshield, they cancelled the night before saying I would need a garage for them to come over. Went into the store a week later, waited in the waiting room for nearly an hour, then said they didn't have a windshield for me. They said they would come to my house the following week to change the windshield. The morning of, tech called and said he couldn't come over because they didn't have the glue for my windshield. I called the store to reschedule and at least get my deposit back. They said they couldn't give back the $50 I put down but said they'd be over next week. What a backwards company! They ran my VIN number and told me what kind of windshield I had. Once the service tech showed up guess what he saw my car and had the wrong windshield. Fast forward to rescheduling they once again had the wrong windshield. I called them at 4pm, was asked if I wouldn't mind being on hold, I said "no I don't mind" and then was placed on a 1hr and 30 min. hold (they close at 5pm). They kept me on hold till after they closed so they wouldn't have to answer my questions about why they kept bringing the wrong windshield. I went to Safelite myself to get my windshield replaced cause they promised me this time it would be right. Guess what! Still the wrong windshield. I also heard the guy at the front desk call about 10 people and tell them that they couldn't fix their windshield that day all on speaker. They said they would call me back and never did. So the next available day of my appointment the guy comes and the small chip turns into a very very large crack straight through my windshield. I needed my windshield urgently repaired and made an appointment on Safelite's website. Well an hour before the end of the appointment window they called and said they weren't coming. They told me I could bring my car to them the following day, but I couldn't because I have to work. Then they told me the next time they could come was several days later. They wasted my time when I could have hired someone else, and now I'll have to drive with a damaged windshield. I have had a good experience with other Safelites so it must just be that Safelite Latham has no business etiquette and poor customer service. Absolutely horrible this is the second time I've tried to use this shop and absolutely unacceptable service once again. They broke the original glass they were to put in my windshield, called me 10 minutes before the shop closed on a Saturday, when they are closed Sundays. Had my car for 4 days no rental provided. When I finally got my car my low tire pressure was on. There was plastic pieces all over my dash. And as soon as I got on the highway my new windshield wasn't even secured to my vehicle properly. Monday - I scheduled an appointment online and used a coupon for $80 off Tuesday - I dropped off the car in the morning for repair. Safelite called late morning to say the window had not yet arrived but they should be able to fix it Wednesday. They had prepped the car and put plastic film over the opening. I opted to leave it there overnight. Wednesday - I called in the evening and a robot told me the car was scheduled for repair on Thursday. Thursday - I called at 4:30pm and was put on hold for 1/2 hour at which time I hung up. (They close at 5) Friday - Called and the operator tried to contact the local shop but there was no answer. She gave me a number to call which turned out to be the same touchtone menu I had tried to use before which got me nowhere. I stopped by the shop to ask about the progress. I was told the window should have arrived Thursday. I opted to leave the car overnight and asked that they please call to update me. Saturday - I stopped by the shop and waited 20 minutes for the employee to help me. I was told the window should be there Monday and could be repaired Tuesday. I didn't like leaving my car on their front lot with just plastic film on the missing window so I opted to take the car. They could not find the key. We checked in the car and then back in the office where it was eventually discovered. I asked that they call when the window arrived. Tuesday evening - I called and was told the window was in. I was given an appointment for Thursday. Thursday - Car was repaired at the shop. I am very satisfied with the quality of the work which was performed on the window. Friday - In looking over the bill I noticed The $80 off coupon had not been applied. I went back to the shop and was refunded $80 (but they would not refund the tax on the $80). All the employees were friendly and I understand there are sometimes supply problems. I was very disappointed they did not update me on the status of the repair unless I contacted them. It is hard to contact the shop as I couldn't find a number for the local shop. The shop didn't seem to know when the window would arrive. Very dishonest outfit. I had them repair a chip in my windshield. They billed my insurance company. There is supposed to be a lifetime warranty. Some time later the exact same chip reappeared. I went back to the same shop and they re-repaired the chip - no charge. They were very friendly. Now, again, the same chip has reappeared. Clearly the repair process is either not being done properly or the repair material is defective. I contacted customer service (now there's a joke!) and they said they cannot re-repair the same chip. I would need a complete full new windshield because re-repairing could ruin the windshield. I said well if what you are saying is the truth why did your shop already repair the same chip a second time? "CUSTOMER SERVICE" HUNG UP ON ME! I have changed insurance companies since the time of the 1st and 2nd repairs. So, I am left with seeking out a different brand repair shop and my new insurance company is going to get a bill for what my original insurance company already paid for! So, my original insurance company paid for and got ripped off for a faulty repair and my new insurance company is going to get a bill for something they should not have to be paying for! I have no choice since if I don't get the problem fixed it is likely that the chip will get worse and then I would indeed need a who new windshield. Unfortunately, now I will also have a claim on my record with the new insurance company which could impact my rate. I will tell everyone I possibly can to stay far away from Safelite!! read more

Our story is not a usual story, this location of Safelight really went above and beyond for us. We bought a brand new car and a rock hit it and we originally had the work done in another location which was not up to standard and caused a lot of noise issues and collaborator issues, let's not forget it was a sloppy job which made our brand new luxury car look like hot garbage. This location took on our car as a warranty claim and we had some hiccups due to the first replacement glass coming in after waiting on it for almost 2 months ( new car demand is low) the dealership shipped it and it was flawed with a big white steak inside of it and had to be tossed. Brian the manager worked on getting a 3rd windshield finally delivered and we just picked it up. What a difference first if the car is super quiet like it originally was and the job was so neat. By neat I mean no seeping glue or open margins anywhere and the windshield didn't whistle. We recommend this location because their techs are very good and professional. Although this business is not something that many will be lookingon Yelp for reviews - I just had to give it a rating based on my recent experience. It was flawless. I had a car windsheild chip turn into a very long crack and contacted Safelight through their online system. I had a phone call from a rep with 1 hour of submiting the info online . They scheduled to do a windsheild replacement the next day, coordinated with my insurance company and completed the job without me even having to go out to my car while it was parked at work. I have rarely had anything go smoother and had to give them one of my rare 5-star ratings. read more

I made an appointment to get my windshield replaced and decided to sit with my vehicle while it was getting replaced. After about 45 minutes I had one of the men come out and tell me they in fact did not have the correct windshield for my car and I would have to make yet another appointment a week later and get it fixed then. This new appointment time did not work with my work schedule so the technician assured me they had a 'key drop' where I could drop my car off the night before and slide my key through the key drop. When I went to drop off my car and key I peeked through the key drop to make sure it was in the right area. I saw puddles all throughout the warehouse floor. This led me to believe I had just dropped my key fob into a puddle to sit in over night. I was nervous about this, so I called in the morning to be sure. I stayed on the phone with the technician while he fished my key fob out of the puddle, but he assured me they were "cleaning it off". They seemed to think this wasn't a big deal. Realistically buying a new key fob and getting it programmed would cost anywhere between $200-$400. After speaking with assistant managers and managers they told me if my key short circuited, they would "look into it". I'm disappointed in the quality of customer service, especially from a company that seems to monopolize the windshield replacement industry. read more

My husband had a stone hit his windshield on his way to work. Due to very cold weather, it proceeded to crack all across bottom. We called the 800 # that our Insurance Co. gave us for Safelite. They were in another state and not familiar with our area. The girl who took the information seemed in a hurry, didn't want to wait while I got the manual in order to answer her many questions. This was a brand new car we had for 2 months and I was not sure of all the features she was asking about . Finally said she had all the info she needed off the VIN #. Then, she INSISTED I purchase new wiper blades for the car that we had for 2 months! Needless to say, when the repair technician came, it was the wrong windshield ! Well, this tech said he would go back to the shop and he would be sure that the correct one was ordered. He said to call as if we did not hear in a couple days. We had to call.. but were told the windshield was in and could be installed. A different tech came, but was here for only 15 minutes as he had a family emergency and not able to even start work. Then, a 3rd tech came later 2 days later. Well, no surprise , 1st tech never put in the corrected order !! Shawn was this tech and he truly sympathized with us. He ordered the correct windshield while at the house , in our presence, so we would know it was done . Now knowing that another NEW tech would be assigned to install (4th time!!), we called Safelite and told them to assign Shawn as he is now the only tech we will trust. He came on time, installed the CORRECT windshield properly and was efficient and courteous. So be careful. Making the claim through my insurance company was easy. Where my two star rating comes in is when I had to start dealing with Safelite themselves. I called to ask a question and got routed through a automated system 4 times before hanging up. I had a tiny crack from a rock that fell off of a truck smaller than a dime. My insurance allows for a total windshield replacement at no cost to me. When I went to pick my vehicle up not only was the crack still there but it was bigger. They told me they filled it with resin and they dont repair for cosmetic purposes they repair for structural. I asked if it would pass inspection and they told me yes and that I might have problems but to just show them my receipt for the repair... that's not really how NY works and that's not how I work. I told them I'm not comfortable and that I demanded a replacement. Some other rep that wasn't working with me chipped in asking what the deductible would be and I told him I don't have one that I pay a premium for glass replacement. The rep helping me said they even have the parts in stock but they'd have to recollaborate my camera. I am being extremely inconvenienced by having to dedicate a second morning to this issue. NOT TO MENTION they left my car unlocked on their lot unattended!!! I know this will probably fall on deaf ears but I am really disappointed by their business. I pay way too much to be disrespected with this shotty work. Kerey was my technician and he needs to use better judgement next time. If I wasn't more vocal like a lot of other people I would've just had to accept this crack in my windshield on my brand new car for ever?? Makes no sense to me. Do better. read more
