They made sure and did excellent job with numbing gel and Novacane. They told me that if at any point whatsoever that I feel uncomfortable, they will be more than happy to take a brief time out and also do more numbing. I found that the people who do my cleaning where senior students who were getting closer to graduation. In my opinion, you could tell that they really cared a lot about doing a great job. If they don't do a great job, they don't get good grades or graduate. And they are closely monitored by Senior dentists with a ton of experience. And even though Senior dentist have a fantastic bedside manner, if you will. One of the senior students was Gretchen. I'm sure she'll be graduating soon and you may not be able to schedule her. However, I continually told Senior staff that she did a stellar job of keeping me calm, keeping me from a feeling any pain, and doing a superb job with the cleaning itself. I also had Dr Li do a root canal on one of my front teeth. It was a tricky problem. He tried twice from the bottom and it did not work. So, we had to go from the top (through the gums) into the tooth, doing a root canal that way. I was completely and utterly terrified that I would be in horrific pain. He and his assisting staff made me unmeasurably calm and relaxed, and I did not feel a single thing of pain the entire time. I can only tell you that I have had an absolutely fabulous experience from cleaning, to having surgery, their bedside manner, professionalism, and all things in between. Do NOTE: they do not have the nitrous oxide gas at the school. I'm not sure exactly why but you should know this. HOWEVER - you should also know that I almost did not go there because I have always required having gas with my severe PTSD. I am certainly glad that I did choose to go there, because they did an absolutely amazing job in helping me feel calm, and I was being professionally cared for buy a very positive and friendly staff. I took lessons with Paul 5 years ago. I was 30 years old. I had never driven and I was as scared as…read moreany new driver could be. Paul helped me from day 1 where we didn't even use the gas pedal, just coasting, to my driver's license exam. I did pass on my first try! He gave tips and tricks that would help for the exam as well as driving in real life. He was firm/assertive when needed but I also felt safe and comfortable as a terrified driver. He made me step outside of my comfort zone. He loaned me his sunglasses when I couldn't see. Because of Paul's help, I am able to work jobs that involve driving. I can now drive giant diesel trucks and haul trailers for work. Yesterday I drove 420 miles in one day. While I will never be a carefree driver, I attribute my driving success to Paul and First Pass Driving. I am eternally grateful for his help.

Ahhh this place makes me want to have kids JUST to be able to send them here!…read more Leonardo's Basement is a crazy amazing workspace with after school programs and summer classes for kids (mostly, some for adults too). It's pretty much a hands on learning space where children get to explore the extents of their creativity! Walking in you feel like you've stumbled into your crazy inventor uncle's basement: filled to the brim with contraptions the students and staff have built, the tools for building, and all the junk you'd need to build more contraptions. They have classes for every kind of interest, from building functioning robots to learning how to fix a bike, to making costumes, to cooking. They take things that children only dream of (like building a giant maze out of 30+ cardboard refrigerator boxes) and turn them into realities. They have such a variety of classes that you just have to check out the schedule to figure out the specifics. If I had to summarize it in one sentence it would be: This is a place that focuses on the joys of creating through building, experimenting, and learning how to take ideas out of your brain, put them on paper, and then make them physical objects. For the grown-ups they also offer some classes on making things, through the affiliated Studio Bricolage (linked on their website). We were told to check this place out by many members of the design/tinker community here and after seeing it for myself this afternoon I'm really happy to know a place like this exists.

I took a group class at Northern Clay center and it was amazing! We had 11 brand new students…read morelearning about throwing pottery for the first time (so we all needed individual attention) and the instructor was so friendly and able to help us all! I thought maybe we would each make one piece, but we each got to make 4 or 5 bowl-like objects (you got to pick) and to paint them. We also used the break room to order food, since pottery in the morning was hungry work. Northern Clay is giant inside- I had not idea looking at it from the street. There is a parking lot right by the building, so you don't have to worry about street parking. We had a great time, and will be back to pick up or art in 3 weeks! I definitely recommend the group classes or private parties, which came out to ~$50 per person.

The pottery is grouped by artist, which made it easy to limit my browsing to only the styles I liked. I will note that (at least on the day I visited) they very heavily feature artists whose style is natural and rustic, which isn't bad, but for the prices they charge I was looking for something more sophisticated. I know all pottery takes a lot of work, but I'm not going to spend $80 on a misshapen mug. The items do focus pretty heavily on dishes and cups/mugs, which made gift shopping a little difficult, since I wasn't about to buy a surprise dinnerware set for someone. The person manning the front desk was very helpful and brought out more pieces from the back room of artists I liked. She was also able to share with me which pieces were and were not dishwasher safe. I left with a good selection of gifts and would definitely come back again.

Another thing he is very unhygienic nails were dirty breath smells like cigarettes and his teeth were so dirty and I find that really disgusting. His whole appearance just says alot about his character. With private lessons from him I improved and passed the exam. The instructor specializes in teaching adults who have never driven before so I felt very safe with teaching methods. His road test preparation style was effective as he explained the way the points for the test were allocated, and worked on the necessary skills to pass the road test. He also used diagrams and visuals for easy learning. Before the exam too, he took me out to go over the skills which reduced my nervousness, and helped me relax before the test so that I can do well. He gives good advice about driving for the exam and real life driving. The individualized attention he gives helped me become confident driving. If I had went to him first, I would have likely passed the road test in one try. His classes are a bit strict, but it was good because it made the exam easy.
