From the moment I engaged this company I felt like I was paying a " BLACK TAX". As I stepped through the doors of this business in the historic Simi valley known for the infamous beating of Rodney King, I couldn't help but wonder what shenanigans were waiting for me when I got there. No sooner and I put my bag down on the desk to begin preparing for the class, was I pointed out by the white female instructor. Oh excuse me would you come out here in the hall with me she said as all of the white students looked at me, the only black woman in the class like I was an alien from outer space. I was pulled into the hallway by Renee and Shepherded over to Mark, the director of the program. In this moment, they chose to announce, my BLS certification which was set to expire at the end of the month would not be acceptable. Mind you, I have worked in my industry for 35 years and have never had my credentials denied. Mark, the owner of this business which he has operated for many years, came up with an interesting theory about my BLS card. He said since I did the RQI version of a BLS card which involves being certified for 2 years plus doing an additional set of courses every 3 months at the request of my previous employer, my credentials were not valid. He falsely claimed I should have continued doing classes every 3 months. This is not a prerequisite for this card. It was an extra request of the employer at the time. The card had a dual purpose. It's served as both a two-year certification for BLS and an option to do classes every 3 months at the request of the employer to further enrich and deepen the healthcare workers knowledge and practice with life support skills. Convenient part that he did was not contact me on an emergency basis once seeing my credentials so that I would not make the 40 mile round trip to the center for nothing. He had his secretary send an email. Who the hell is going to stop the morning they're going to a class and say hey let me check my emails to see if they're rejecting my credentials and canceling my course. In addition he threw in the black tax of charging me an extra $20 to do the course online, inconvenienced me for 2 days of my time from work to return another day for the in classroom portion of the course. I thought this was a total setup to discourage an African-American from achieving her goals. So classic. He tried to convince me that after all these years he's run this business that he didn't know that he should contact the number that was listed on the BLS card along with the website that was provided to prove validity of the card. Instead, he claimed that he called the American heart association for validation. I even went so far as to go on a conference call with the rqi and BLS verification line so that they could tell him personally he didn't know what he was talking about on the day he turned me away. He would not relent. After 2 days of running back and forth and paying an extra $20, he walked into the classroom and threw $20 on the desk. Grudgingly, he admitted that he was mistaken. If I were a business owner and put a person through that much garbage, I would have given them the entire refund, an apology and allow them to take the class. I was hoping for too much. The black tax never ends. Just know if you're not white, expect that they're going to make a problem for you if you try to patronize this business. I wonder how many others have stories that were never told. read more

I have been an EMT for 10 years and recently found this gem. I don't think any EMT will ever say they enjoy going through the 2 year cycle if re-certifying but this place makes it super easy. First, the amount of knowledge about the profession contained at this facility is astronomical. They have EMTs and paramedics on staff as well as Jules, the owner being a 3 decade tenure as a fire captain and Mark a paramedic. Secondly thier CE renewal sessions are great, especially the F5s. James is a wonderful instructor with tons of true life experiences that are injected in the course to draw relevance to the topic. Lastly for psychomotor skills, they offer all the toys, training and practice sessions as well as time for you to come into the office to work with an instructor in things you are struggling with. read more

I came here to re cert my BLS, it was such a great class and the people are so nice. They have a special buy one get one free. The class is really informative and the Trainer Brittany was so amazing a great teach and very great at what she teaches. She also gave us her personal stories of her being a paramedic. Overall Review: use another company I purchased a hybrid PALS course in 2020 and was informed by one of the employees that I would have "as much time as you need" to complete the online portion and once the online portion was complete, I would have 6 months to complete the skills portion. This turns out was not true and when I completed the online course in 2021, I was informed that the course had expired. After many back and forth emails, I was emailed by the owner (Jules Griggs). Visited because I needed a livescan. the process took a very long time as my prints were light. A man came in to help the "technician" with my prints. Im not confident that the SOC will accept them because he was getting impatient and stated that they were good enough. When I asked if the SOC does not accept them will I need to pay to retake them he said yes and literally said to me " we don't care if you have to pay again, they are only good for 30 days, so that's too bad". So to say to me Fuck you - we just want your money. Your problem, not ours. I would not go here if I were you. In addition, they were not forthcoming about the price. read more

They resell training from other companies and when you have an issue with your certificate they even don't want to spend the time to followup with it and just tell you we were the re-seller and you need to contact the main company!!!! Recently went to the thousand oaks location for BLS recertification. Parking was easy, the building was clean, equipment well maintained, and they had some pretty good coffee. The BLS instructor was easy to talk to and made the process as stress free as possible. All in all, I'd strongly recommend to family and coworkers. read more
