I was asked to pick up my prescription the next day at noon; when I showed up well after 2 pm it was not ready. That is a very slow service!

Fast forward .. all the reviews here are pre-2017!! This Safeway was re-built 3 years ago ( 2019 ) .. as part of a high-rise complex, there are underground parkade as well as a roof-top parking ( with gorgeous view of Surrey & Burnaby skylines!! All the isles are well stocked and very tidy, staffs are also very friendly as they would go out of their ways to help you find an item(s)! read more

I have never used this Safeway as it's not in my neighborhood, but just ordered flowers and I had the most enjoyable experience with the Assistant Florist Bhavan. Such a wonderful gentleman, very helpful, very efficient and just a joy to work with and all over the phone. Keep up the great work Bhavan. Your Amazing!! read more

I worked here for about 2 months, the manager is a really intimidating person and he thinks as if all the employees work for him and not the company. The day before i quit i asked him to let me go 1 hour early because I didn't feel ok with the amount of physical work that they are demanding and i was exhausted but he told me that because he had done what i do for 2 years in the past and 50 years old women can do it i should be able to stay and continue. The safeway employees have the right to refuse work if the demand is unsafe or basically too much. He could have given me some other task and ask for a more suitable person to take over but instead he forced me to stay on the same task. He kept asking if i had worked anywhere else before assuming that my request is wrong. clearly he does not know his role in the store and the right ways of dealing with the employees. read more

Absolute worst self checkout machines; simple scan package scans are interrupted by multiple prompts for assistance. Takes almost longer than to go through human checkout. Unfriendly / cranky helpers read more

I went there during the COVID-19 restrictions. Security guard asked me to go down the stairs but I ran into someone coming up! Meant I was unable to keep my physical distance. I politely asked a Safeway employee to please follow the arrows on the floor because she was going the wrong way - she acknowledged me but kept going and did not care that I felt physically unsafe. The store was doing a pretty good job trying to have directions on the floor etc. It's just that the staff might need some reminders? I called and left a message for the manager. Call NOT RETURNED so I won't be going back! read more

I shop here because it's convenient. Not the best selections available. I have found the majority of the staff friendly when interacting with them but they argue with or complain about other staff a lot in front of the customers. Not very professional. read more

If they didn't wrap everything in plastic they would get 5 star. It's a big chain food store. What can I say it's good. The self checkout could be tweaked so it would run a little sm. Remember it better to be btater. read more

very unprofessional staff poor customer service and one of the worst store and management, my wife and me both Doctors from India and immigrated to Canada Recently and recently we went over there for some grocery shopping. She saw a turban guy during our evening visit on one day and he was uttering bad words like "Bhenchod" similar to "Sisterfucker" in English to one of his colleague in one of the aisle working with one of the disable young guy ignoring her presence in the aisle which made my wife very uncomfortable at the time. During another recent during evening visit I was looking for some grocery item and unable to find it i was looking for some help, Also saw a Indian girl Cashier named MANINDER as came to know about her name from one of the store employee doing stocking in chips aisle and tried to get her help finding the item. but she was busy having her earbuds in her ears talking to some person over phone saying "I love you MR" and stuff like it.. instead of giving her help to the customer waiting for the same. I like shopping at Safeway, but when a friend and I went to shop at this location here (she's always shopping at this location) she got a lovely parking ticket from Diamond Parking Ltd. The ticket was for $57.00. How infuriating was that? And the store manager wouldn't and couldn't do a thing. Safeway hired this company but they can't get a ticket cancelled? OK. Scenario is: Park at Safeway, go to bank to get money (meant crossing the street), ( she doesn't use interac/bank machines). come back and shop at Safeway, find a ticket on car. What?? Unfortunately for this location they have noticed that alot of customers are upset because they're getting ticketed too! I understand that they're trying to stop people from using the lot to park and then shop at other locations, but what about the legitmate customers who shop here daily? Nothing against Safeway, but the manger of this location seems to either not care about losing his customers or he needs to communicate to the Diamond Parking LTD staff better about who gets ticketed and who doesn't. Maybe a solution is to have customers tell the parking lot attendant that they're going to the bank to get money before shopping at Safeway. If it were my car that got ticketed and I was a regular customer, I'd blog it, post it everywhere and not come back to this store and let all my friends know, which is what she's doing now. My suggestiong to those who do get ticketed here and do shop here. Send a copy of your receipt to Diamond Parking Ltd and inform them that you are a customer of this location to prove that you shopped there. It's a hassle, but hopefully they'll reverse the ticket. Other than the manger not being able to do anything at this store, the store is just fine. 4 stars for the store, but 0 stars for the parking lot frustration, hassle and inconvenience. read more

The only good part is the pharmacy. They really know their stuff there. Otherwise, it's a less than spectacular store with a somewhat limited selection. The store could use a makeover and some new staff. I am probably going to get some hate for this but they have an individual on cash, who really shouldn't be there. I don't know if he has hearing problems or language problems or perhaps something else. He is loud and tends to not listen to the customers at his till. Tonight, it didn't help that his supervisor was bothering him about breaks at the same time. read more

Horrible Safeway. Ancient design and seems dirty all the time. Selection is very bad compared to other locations. I only go here if I need something quick. Save-On up the hill (on North Rd) is way better. Too bad they don't take air miles. Normally a fan of Safeway - this location is just the worst I've seen. read more

This Safeway is....ok. It's handy when I need to pick up groceries in the evening. Perhaps the building is to be sold and replaced with (more) condos? This would explain the obvious lack of financial investment and resultant poor condition of the building. I find the staff there pretty nice. read more

Got to this store at appox. 10:30 this morning, went to bakery to buy some buns...a lot of the trays were empty. no one in bakery to make a request, bought some other things took my time, went back to bakery still no one there... waited and in they came carrying picnic chairs, coffee break??? Called management...no help there suggested that they straddle working hours so that coffee breaks and other breaks ( don't turn over into picnic breaks )does not leave other service areas unattended for customer requests...Was told that that break times were none of my business in so many words...understood...so much for SAFEWAY......I wonder if management reads any of these Reviews???????? read more

I'll be honest. This place scares me. Ok first off, it just feels dirty. You don't want to touch anything here let alone buy and eat it. The people who shop here are one of the main reasons I call this place scary. I've seen grown men nearly come to blows because one cut in front of the other in line. A woman backed into my husband and hissed at him. Yes, she hissed. Like a cat with rabies. At his face. We got out of there. The last time I was here the cashier recognized me from my workplace. Instead of being professional, she started telling me about the bad service that my company provided her with (she couldn't return a damaged product) and she spoke loudly enough that other people heard. The woman behind me in line began glaring at me and muttering about the "effing bit$$ in the white coat" (I was wearing a white jacket). This woman looked pretty mean and I wanted to just get out of there. I'll shop at other Safeways but this one just doesn't feel safe. Maybe they should call it Sketchway or something. read more

This Safeway was probably awesome when it was first built, which I assume was around the same time that all the apartments on the streets behind it were built too. Well, those apartments are all getting gutted and updated now but alas, this Safeway continues to be stuck in the late 80's. The lack of a bulk section and a poor selection of products leaves much to be desired here. They seem to be understaffed the majority of the time and even if they are properly staffed you'll still be waiting in line because the clientele here always seem to have something to argue with the cashiers about, whether it be a coupon or the price of a piece of fruit. I continue to shop here because it's the only grocery store located within walking distance from me but every time I walk up to those doors, I hope to see a "CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS" sign. Great Scott, can someone tell me what year it is? When I walk into this Safeway, I instantly hear "Mr Sandman" not unlike Marty McFly as he arrives in the days of yesteryear. I half expected Christopher Lloyd to pull up alongside me in the hovercraft DeLorean, tell me to quit messing around and hop in because my future children are in deep trouble. But no. No, no. This is all for real. Has this Safeway changed at all since it was first erected? Any renovations? It doesn't look like it. Everything appears to be pretty much untouched, as this is the most old-school grocery store I've seen in a while. No self checkout, no bulk foods. I turn on my heels and head for the exit. Where's a good wrecking ball when you need one? read more

This Safeway store needs some serious updating. It's a bit of a "dive" - esp. when you compare it to the one at Sunwood Square. It's an okay store to go to for the very basics - but there are definitely no frills or extras. read more

I live a block away and use this grocery store when I am somewhat desperate. It's too bad because the convenience of the location is perfect. I am aware of what to expect in this place as it is desperately in need of an upgraded. Last week I went into the store around 8pm (approx) I found the deli section to be closed. All the items where covered and the lights off in the food display as well in the back area. Very off putting, if I did want something I didn't dare ask. The employee that seems to be hovering around that area was very unhelpful. I over heard him telling a customer that he could not help her, that it was closed and to go and find the manager. I work customer service and I am appalled at the way the store is run. If the store is open till 12am then EVERYTHING should be open to 12am not when it is convenient. It is sad as the safeway has a perfect opportunity in the location that it is in to service all the surrounding apartments. I will instead take the extra 5 - 10 min to go to Save-on or super store. read more

This safeway is overpriced and i've have a horrible experience with one of the cashiers working there. An older lady with dark hair probably in her 50's wasn't friendly, barely smiled and gave me terrible attitude when i gave her the wrong number for my Safeway card with a large "SIGH" and a "K" But when the next customer came up, whom was an older lady, she was overly friendly. I just don't get it. It'd be nice if they fixed this place up and hired nicer staff. read more

Oh my god this place is a straight up dump. It's like the world around evolved but it was just left behind. There ain't no self-checkout or anything! Hardly any selection man. This place NEEDS to go. read more
