This Safeway is a much cozier version of the one I frequent more often in my hometown of Chico. I come to Corning on occasions throughout the year and stop by here when I can. It has a modest selection of food items. The bakery and deli areas are decent. I'm usually able to find what I need when passing through aisles, but as I said, this Safeway is cozier. And by "cozier", I mean "smaller" than other Safeways I've been to. It doesn't always have everything I'm looking for. But they sometimes have something I wouldn't find at other Safeways. For example, I found some really good donuts here before. I've never had a bad experience here. Ambiance is rather tranquil. Workers are ready to help you, and I can get in and out like that. Because of all these pleasant aspects, I'm giving 4 stars in spite of the store's shortcomings. read more

Enough is Enough!!!!!!!! Store 2295 600 Edith Street Corning CA,96021. DIR. Amanda Serrano. Quality of Food, and products offered in Meat, Bakery and Vegies. Excellent as is most of all Safeway Stores. The problem is, the check out experience and trying to make sure that you actually were charged what you were supposed to be charged is a maybe at best as to what your actually being charged. Hit or Miss Check out is what you should consider when shopping at Safeway Stores. In this instance the in store sale marking was Lays Chips normally $4.99 would be marked down to $1.99. Well, when the wife got home and actually had a moment to review the receipt, they were not marked down at all. So that means that Safeway was enriched $9.00 with misleading, false, deceptive advertising. I would like to say that this is a rare issue, however, those of us that shop at Safeway are quite aware it is almost a norm that digital coupons don't work correctly, items marked down, are not correctly done at the register. As I stated, this is not a single store issue, this is west coast wide. Call it what you want, it is nothing more than stealing! There are so many signs in the store describing markdowns, it is not practical nor time allowable, to expect someone to hold up the line 4 full carts deep to take the time required to see if the store is doing its job in programing all sales into the computer. This falls on the shoulders of the Store GM/Dir that should be insisting on sale verification as sales are offered. When we called in upon arriving home and realizing that this store was no different than the Graham WA store 10 days ago. There we were were credited $31.27. We were told by the customer service lead that we would have to come back in to have a refund processed. We are/were Safeway Card/App members. Everything is captured and a matter of record on the receipt. Our only option presented is that we return to the store, (23 miles away) to get our refund from the stealing adventure. If the store managers intent was for people to just say forget it, you have once again succeeded. The cost of time and money to receive our refund would cost more than I would receive. With todays technology, the simple answer would have been to say, I'm sorry for the inconvenience, could I add to your Safeway app as a credit when you shop next time? When requested, it was not allowed. That leaves you with the understanding my word of the Store Manager/Safeway corporates intent. To Steal money and not honor advertisement pricing, rather just simply don't fix it, it boosts profits. read more

I understand why this store has such bad reviews. The service was terrible at the deli. We had been waiting by the sandwich counter and when Andy finally came up he told us we would have to wait because door dash was on its way and he had to make their order first. We were right there in person and only wanted one sandwich and had been waiting and he made a door dash order of 5 and made us wait. We ended up leaving everything we were going to buy. We won't be back. Not to mention all of their ready to eat sandwiches were packed on 5/17 and 5/18 and most had wilted turning lettuce so those weren't an option we were willing to take a chance on 5 days after preparation. The floral department had a nice assortment and the rest of the staff were nice enough when we had a question of where to find the restroom, but Andy at the deli was really off putting and curt with us and made it quite clear he really didn't want to be making sandwiches or talking to us. read more

Covid-19 Trainwreck. Store is not enforcing covid-19 safety guidelines. Customers walking around the store without masks. When I ask someone if they sell coffee to go, they responded no, because of covid-19. Yet the store chooses not to enforce the state-mandated guidelines. read more

No customer service. Employees were busy leaning on brooms and chatting with friends. Also, no active cashiers. All lanes were closed except self checkout. Highest prices in town and it's now self service. read more

The deli people need better management. They're either talking among themselves about work place drama....short on hot case foods during lunch hour....or, especially in the instance of the young man working there today, lacking people skills and general incompetence. read more

Tried the breakfast burrito today after a few years and it was horrible. One egg torn in half, 3 dried up jo jo potatoes and 3 pieces of bacon ripped up, drenched in sauce and the cheese was ok cheese.I wanted to walk away while she was making it. Should of. For $8 Safeway do better. read more

When you put a sign by an item and your told oh no it's wrong you should still give the customer that price. You lost a customer yesterday. Customer service is zero at this store. Stopped by to get JUST A FEW items for dinner, ended up spending $90.00!!!!!! On about 10 damn items!!! Fuck you safeway for having the most EXPENSIVE PRICES IN THE STATE! today i went again to run into deli to get a 16 piece chicken dinner, something we like to do on occasions when things get hectic. i was hoping it would be better than the last time we got it, where it was so dried out and overcooked even kids didnt want it. But NO it was worse, even inside was so dry it almost made you choke. whoever is managing the deli needs to refresh help on how to do the chicken, how to dispose of it after its sat to long and drys out. read more

The baggers need training. I am so tired of the baggers not knowing how to do their job. They put cans with the vegetables or the bread. I just left the store and found that my nail polish remover was upside down with my fresh vegetables. Are you kidding me. Cleansers and scented products need to be put in a separate bag not with the fresh vegetables. I try to be polite and bag my own items then I get a dirty look. read more
