You stroll into some fancy chain for "ordinary things," and boom prices double like they're auditioning for a magic show. WinCo keeps it real. Sure, you've got to bag your own groceries, but honestly, that's just a small workout to justify the snacks you're about to buy. A little lift, a little laugh, and a whole lot of savings now that's my kind of cardio. Parking? Yeah, it's a circus out there. I don't even mess with the middle lanes those are for people braver than me. I slide to one end, swoop in like a grocery ninja, and grab all the good stuff before the crowd remembers what they forgot. It's close to my house, the products are solid, and the deals are the real deal. If you like your wallet thick and your pantry stocked, WinCo is the place no rhyme intended, but hey, the savings always do. read more

For a long time, we stayed away... it was so busy and the area didn't feel very safe or welcoming for my wife, but they've really addressed most of that and when we go early, between 6-8am, it's really quite reasonable! And the prices..., and yes, the quality too...! She now LOVES shopping here early! Look at this video. These prices... not every price is less than Fred Meyer, but most are and we walked out of there with a good haul, for about 30% less! 30% LESS!!! And the people that work here have been so nice to us. Even when you get to the registers and it might be packed, they are SO fast to open up new registers and unclog quickly! Notice the quality of the meats and veggies! Wow, better than Freddy's, IMHO and the prices... I mean... who sells London Broil for $4.99 / lb anymore. Wanna get an idea how much Kroger is making off you by not dropping prices after the pandemic allowed them to go up to automatic gouging level? When you see Powerade 32oz. bottles here for 89 cents, what they used to be before CoViD at FM, and are now between $1.49 and $1.99 now... dang... going to FM for everything is like throwing money down the drain... or like giving welfare to Kroger and their shareholders. After a few weeks of living here and shopping at Safeway like I am some kind of jet-setting tycoon, this place was great to find. Groceries aren't super expensive, they have pretty much everything I go to grocery stores for, and they have robots that clean the aisles. It has a nice bulk section where you can save even more money when you only need a half teaspoon of turmeric or something. It looks a like a self-bagging situation, but because they have two belts per checkout you won't hold anyone up if you suck at Tetris. read more

When I lived in the east side, this was the ONLY place I shopped. End of. First of all, 24/7 can't be beat. We don't all work bankers hours and I hate crowds. Prices are better than any other store. I had to move to Wilsonville ( lovely place) but closest Winco is in Tigard and it doesn't compare. Hurts my feelings to have to go to Safeway or Freddie's ( boy are THEY proud of their products!) and spend so much more for the same items. It's insulting, really. Especially with today's prices. Can't wait until I have to start taking out loans for groceries. Employees are generally very helpful and nice. I have noticed that fewer aisles have been open throughout the day, creating longer waits. That's frustrating. But I love the bulk area, produce never disappoints, I've never had issues with the meat and seafood dept ( no idea what others are talking about). What I love: best value produce in town by a long shot with few items in plastic bags or clam shells. huge bulk food section and you can bring your bags back to reduce plastic use. the value is in the produce and bulk. Other sections seem similar priced to Fred Meyer and Safeway. They only accept cash or bank cards- no credit cards. Service is average. read more

The store is pretty clean and well stocked. Especially when compared to Walmart. The parking lot sometimes has beggars and junkies but no more than anywhere else in Portland and surrounding areas. The staff have always been extremely helpful way more than any other store I've been to. I was looking at something and a staff member noticed and came to me to let me know there was more options in a specific aisle. I was shocked the staff were so helpful. Food prices here ARE better than Walmart. The produce here is better than Costco, Walmart, and even occasionally Trader Joe's. Overall a pretty good store. Of all the WinCo's on the Eastside, this is by far my favorite and I'm grateful that it is also the closest one to my residence. Some of the other ones are in sketchy locations, or unsafe around the clientele like the one on 102nd. I also know this isn't a WinCo policy but a City of Portland one, but I just like that this particular WinCo is in Happy Valley/Clackamas where plastic bags are an option. I don't like to be wasteful with my bags, but more often than not, the paper bags just rip prematurely, so I appreciate that this location has plastic bags. The parking lot has an ample amount of spaces due to it being shared with the strip mall. There is no wait for parking spots as there is sufficient spots to meet the demand at times I visit. I also like that it's large enough that customers can space out and not feel like you're going to get in a fender bender or your any door dings. The location is in a much better part of town than some of the others and I don't feel like I need to watch over my shoulder or be worried for whatever reason. The parking lot is well maintained and kept clean due to how diligent the staff are, and I like that they have one of those portable surveillance systems in the parking lot. read more

When i bought my groceries, and then I asked if I could use the bathroom, they told me I could leave my already- bought groceries outside of the bathroom. I got suspicious of their intentions, (did they leave their lunch at home and want a free lunch? Or did they not want to do any grocery shopping and rob me because they're lazy?) and cursed the loss prevention and manager out. They said leaving things out of the bathroom was their policy. I told them I'd rather piss on myself than deal with them. Then I left to the outside of the store and yelled for the customers not to shop there, and how I got treated worse than a criminal, the manager said I'm not allowed to come back or I'll be trespassing. Then said they feel sorry for my son. Why? Is it because I'm teaching him to be an honest person? And all their children are criminals? Not my fault. Let me see their policy, because i would tear it up and change it. Let honest people be honest, because treating honest people like criminals isn't going to get them customers. They'll close before anymore honest good customers walk into their store, then they'll end like Walmart did. Policy should state that all people pee and poop if they eat groceries, so treat all people with the same respect. Let the consequences land on those who are evil. Do not cause an honest person to suffer the consequences of an evil person. Be as kind and gentle as needed to everyone. If there is evil, fight the devil, not the person. read more

The winco on 82nd in Clackamas, OR. Needs to buy more carts or have them rounded up more often. Since the Walmart superstore closed on SE 82nd, all the people who used to shop for their groceries there now come to Winco. Winco is losing sales by not having carts available. I was just there and was going to buy a lot more than I did, but I couldn't carry any more than the 2 gallons of milk I bought. I also watched people come in, see no carts, and left. They are losing revenue by not paying attention to their clientelle's needs. I mean, they are losing A LOT of revenue. The staff don't seem to care either. Too bad for Winco! read more

This is a solid edition to the Winco family and a store that is sorely missed since moving away. Big, organized, lit well and being continuously stocked makes this a highly desirable shopping location and the crowds here prove that. The produce is fresh as is the deli, the variety in food is optimal - giving you many options to satisfy the discerning members of your brood and the cost to shop here is SUPER reasonable. I don't know how Theresa manages to pop out of nowhere at every interaction I have at the front register. It's like I'm being haunted by her even when I'm trying to avoid her by going to another register! I am so tired of her bad attitude every single time I go in. If I honestly had any choice other than this god forsaken store (as it's 24 hours and I can only shop at night) I would never go here again. The produce I need is half the time rotten and it's always hard to locate ingredients for recipes I'm making. I also don't know how I manage it but every time I go to this store I have to switch carts several times as most of them have a wheel that has decided to clock out for the day. Starving to death is starting to look like a good alternative to going here. read more

This is my favorite WinCo location for a few reasons: - It's the first WinCo I went to in Oregon - Location is nestled in the middle of Happy Valley where there's a Walmart and Costco nearby - There's a bakery section that usually don't run out of jalapeno cheddar bagels and fried onion bagels - The store seems bigger and there's more space between the aisles for shopping carts - The checkout lines are always open and I don't have to wait long - There's plenty of parking That is all. read more

One reason to recommend this store is the people & how they treat you. On Fourth of July, 2023, yesterday I was grabbing a few more things. I happily got into Teresa's checking line since I know how good her service is, how nice she is, and how fast she is! As I was approaching her line another man with an epic amount of seltzer water decided that he needed to speed walk/run in front of a nice person ( me ) with a full cart, grabbing a spot sooner in line ( it was kind of funny ) so I just slowed and -rolled around the corner, kept my distance, trying not to crowd him, and began to unload my things- interestingly enough I thought I'd let him know with smile that there was no hard feelings ( he may not have even seen me) and start small talk as his turn to be checked out was fast approaching. I let him know just how 'great this check stand lady is' and how ' she was just here yesterday, and again today and that's cool because she is so good' ( thinking how nice to it is to truly have good checkers in on holidays) and he responded back to me 'oh yah, I guess she works a lot' not seeming interested in whether she was nice or not so I then noticed he had this orange cream seltzer water that my son actually liked in his cart too so I said to him, ' my son loves that flavor! ' and he responded stating how he liked to mix whiskey in his and also liked it too. I responded ' cool, that's probably pretty good' not being a hard alcohol drinker and continued to unload my groceries onto the moving strip that was still. As I grabbed other items, I heard from this gentleman, an exclamation of, ' she left us!' I looked up at the register, item in hand quickly, did not see Teresa, looked at him quickly in the face and said oh well that happens, smiled and went back to my cart, grabbed one item putting it, too, on the strip. Now when I did this I looked to my right, and there was Teresa / she didn't leave, she walked over to our side of the counter, beeping his large amounts of seltzer that he didn't put on the counter for her to be beeped nor had he handed her one of the single boxes or 2liters to beep, letting her know the amount that he had so she hadn't needed to come around and beep each item. Teresa beeped the items as quickly as she could and she let him know, to reassure him that she had not left, that she needed to be beep the items and that she had not left him. I was not staring at this time, but could hear what was going on. I was now paying close attention since this man seemed to be upset over nothing. I heard the man start to pick on Teresa and how she spoke as a human being, demanding that she speak in a more 'pleasant' manner, appeasing to him since according to him she was not 'good enough at her job' and this was strange to overhear since she is a very friendly and very good as a checker for Winco Foods. I decided that I did not want to talk to this man anymore about seltzer water or his holiday which I may have asked next, wishing him a nice time- no way this man was singling out a good checker and making her feel small yet she was older and sweeter than he, probably on any given day. I heard Teresa say something again nice and reassuring and this man decided he was still just going to take his earlier day out on poor Teresa and I was about to witness it. Trying to look away but still listening in- this man said ' Hey!!' to me when he left. I felt forced to turn and raised my eyebrows to which he said, ' I had a great time talking to you and I'm so glad because this whore of a person was trying to ruin MY day!' and my jaw just dropped and I watched him scoff away - I could not believe he called this person on the clock, at a job a 'whore' I wished about 10 minutes later and still today that I would have said, 'hey! Knock it off! You have been rude and this women is always nice ' ( having lived here almost 7 years witnessing her service ) and still think I was in some kind of grotesque state of shock. Afterward this Teresa was so professional, and as a licensed legal professional working with attorneys and law enforcement, as a mom and person who it was so nice to see how she could push thru that kind of deeply disturbing insult and still smile at me - I wanted to say what a good shopping experience I had with Teresa on the 4th of July 2023! Their Jalapeno cheddar cheese bagels are the most delicious bagel I have ever tasted, WinCo bakes there's to perfection. The employees are all nice and helpful with knowledge of product I'm buying. Typical 3 star Winco, cheap prices, packed lines, etc. You can't expect much, some employees are nice and others aren't. It's a hit or miss every time! I come back for products that other stores don't seem to have and probably will keep returning when I'm in need. Nonetheless it's in a convenient area and I'm in and out in no time. UPDATE- Gave a 3 star review last time and now it's a one star. The guy at the cashier that was scanning my items was disgustingly rude. After he scanned all 20 of my items he decided to tell me they don't even take credit. It's all I had so I had to leave everything as it was. They have things from tapioca flour to cinnamon bears to pecans to cardamom. Really fresh produce and the best and least expensive avocados in town. Sliced deli meats and fast employees who help you. Unlike places like Walmart or Target, they carry a lot of healthy stuff; and their selection of vegetables is very good. Their prices are the best compared to the above-mentioned stores. We still support small, locally owned business, but its hard to find a local market that has this selection. After some recent trips to WinCo, I've had to rethink my fan status. When I first went here years ago, you wouldn't dream of seeing a security guard. Actually, I'm thankful for the presence of security at this point in time. Their low prices are in a holding pattern, but the drama is not - it's a little higher. They have a lot of selection at Winco in Clackamas and the prices are indeed very good ... or even great. However, there are many rude customers you have to jockey around, quite a few borderline rude employees, a parking lot that can be packed at times, even if HTB is now gone, and, in general, it's a place I don't like as much as, say, a garden variety Safeway or Fred Meyer. While not encountered anymore, or at least when I go, I've gotten some attitude in the deli for asking for things that are not denominated in half pound or quarter pound increments, as in, "How about .60 of a pound of this and .60 of a pound of that?" Did you not see this in a basic arithmetic course somewhere? Moreover, the machine's digital scale does all the work in getting at these numbers, the same way it does if ordering the more common increments of 1/2 of a pound or 3/4 of a pound. Seriously, notwithstanding this stupid fuss (on their part), if it wasn't for their deli, I don't think I'd shop here much, if at all. However, I like some of the sliced deli turkey and chicken that they sell, and the prices that go with that. This might almost mean I'd have to bring Tigard's WinCo down to 3 stars. However, since that location trumps this WinCo for its commodious parking lot, having in-house pizza, having customers who are more sedate, and having more courteous employees across the board, I'll leave that location at 4 stars. I only wish the Tigard WinCo was in closer proximity than is the Clackamas WinCo. read more

Oh Winco you are a tarnished gem. In the land of outer SE you provide affordable edibles to me & mine. Although your quality can be somewhat lacking, you make it up with sheer volume. The good: ~The bulk selection is quite good. It even contains some organic stuff (rolled oats n sugar). ~local stuff is here if you search hard enough (Toby's tofu pate, Nancy's yogurt, Surata tofu & tempeh, Dave's killer bread, Bob's red mill). ~oodles and oodles of produce, some organic stuff too. Be warned, you may have to dig through the mounds to find the best stuff. ~olive bar ~seafood station ~.03$/ bag discount if you bring your own. The bad: -hot damn this store is always busy! -parking lot=chaos -damaged freight is still full price -rotten & over ripe produce -small selection of organic & natural stuff The ugly: *screaming children & their guardians seem to flock to this store *the customers here often disregard common courtesies *sweat pants & pajamas seem to be a prerequisite to walk through the doors. As a single parent I have to get things done when I have a chance to do it. I have always shopped at this location as the hours make it convenient and they seem to have everything that I need at a reasonable price. Recently I had a long night and I was at work until midnight and had to be back to work at 8:30 in the morning. This gave me very little time to get the shopping done that I needed to do however it really just needed to be done. I parked away from the other cars in the parking lot in a well lit area as there were random people hanging out in the parking lot and screaming at each other which I wanted to stay away from. When I got outside my truck was gone! To sum things up I found some signs that had the name of a towing company and called them to find out that my truck had been impounded! I had receipts proving that I was a customer of Winco and the towing company did not want to hear it at all. In the interest of getting home and getting back to work I paid nearly $400 to get my truck back and moved on with my life however I will never be a customer of this location ever again. Needless to say I was very disappointed and wanted to warn others about this practice of stealing customers cars and holding them for ransom using another company called retriever towing which is well known for this practice! read more

AND my conscience is eased by seeing how they keep them low: 1) No credit cards 2) Minimal advertising 3) Bag your own groceries Other reviewers are right: organic and non-GMO options are limited, so I don't do 100% of my shopping here (I go to Costco/Fred Meyer as well, and Morrow Bros. for produce). But the bulk section is the BOMB - we get nuts, dried fruit, and spices - and I also like their fresh bagels and rolls. WinCo may not be for everyone, or every occasion. But for me - a thrifty shopper who doesn't mind paying with debit and bagging his own groceries - it's always a place I'm excited to go. read more
