Safeway pharmacy is the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. They are extremely unsafe with their business practices and care of the vulnerable our community. There is no available phone service, only option for questions is to drive to the store, which for the poor and vulnerable, poses safely for use of prescription medications and regimens. I have been a nurse for more than 30 years , and I am beyond concerned for there rude behavior, and poor business practices. I will be filling a formal complaint with the state in hopes there will be a change in practice. read more

I've put up with their rudeness (Although Susan is always friendly and polite), but now a new, more serious situation has come up. Recently my provider sent in a prescription for 25mg pills of a medication and when I brought it home from this pharmacy, they had filled it with 50mg pills! (I see that Jo B had the same issue last summer!) When I called, of course no one answered over several days. I went in today and the very unfriendly tech/clerk (not Susan) told me that I needed to contact the manager when he came in this afternoon. When I asked if she could just check to see if my provider sent in the wrong size/dosage, she robotically repeated that I need to talk to the manager. After more questions she finally told me that he comes in about 3:30pm. It will be interesting to see if anyone answers the phone between 3:30 and closing. read more

First, I want to start off with that most of the employees are lovely, patient, and do their best. It isn't their fault that Safeway has a terrible system in place, and is wildly mismanaged. That said, this is one of the worst pharmacies I've ever been to. I have had the wrong prescriptions, dosages, and quantities filled. I have had to pay out of pocket for a medication that my insurance informed me could have been covered. I have been told that a prescription was never sent in, when in reality, I knew it was after confirming with my doctor. On multiple occasions. One of the staff members, an older man, will regularly make comments or ask personal questions about a medication that's being picked up, or ask about what the medication is for. Not only is that a potential HIPPAA violation, it is also unnecessary, especially when they are not the pharmacist. And unfortunately, if you aren't firm, and you do not stand up for yourself, some of the staff will try to insist that nothing wrong happened on their end or that they made a mistake. This has happened to me on several occasions, and I have seen it happen to others while waiting in line. I get that the healthcare industry is hurting right now, and working for a pharmacy is really tough, and mentally draining, but for those who need a higher level of care, and constantly need things adjusted, but don't have the luxury of paying out of pocket or waiting for things to get fixed... Please do better. And if you can, try to find a different pharmacy. read more

I stopped going here a little over a year and a half ago because they messed up my meds (gave me the incorrect dosage, despite the correct dosage being all over my prescription!!!) and I took it for 2 days without noticing. When I did notice, I was really upset because had I continued to take the incorrect dosage, I could have experienced serious medical issues. I went back to the pharmacy to talk to them about it and ask for my correct, accurate dosage and they were apologetic, but so incompetent it was upsetting. The conversation went something like this: Me: Hi, you gave me the 100mg, I am prescribed the 300mg, which is what the label and my Rx say, could I please have the 300mg? Pharmacy tech: Oh, I'm sorry about that, let me fix that for you. (they go into the back for a minute, talk to someone, come out) Pharmacy tech: Ok, here is your 200mg. Me: ... I asked for the 300mg. I am prescribed the 300mg. It says so on the prescription. You gave me the 100mg originally, I do not want the 200mg either, I need the 300mg. Do you not have the 300mg? Pharmacy tech: Oh, sorry. After about 10 minutes, they finally came out and gave me the correct dosage of my medication, apologizing as if they'd simply just messed up a coffee order and not a vital prescription medication. Needless to say, I switched all my medications to CVS after that. read more

I am sick and tired of being told that my meds will "be ready by tomorrow" only to show up when they tell me too and being told to wait another 30-45 minuets, and only leaving with 1 out of 4 of the prescriptions I'm suppose to be getting. "The world is understaffed, be patient to those that showed up" Safeway is a big boy. They spend billions each year in market research. They KNOW why they are understaffed, they KNOW what they need to do to not be understaffed. I prefer pharmacies that deliver results, not excuses. read more

Horrible policy change Jason the new pharmacy manager at the safeway in vacaville ca will not fill a prescription that should be filled on the previous fill date. The Safeway pharmacy in Chelan, Wa is disappointing. We were transferred there when Lake Chelan Pharmacy closed, and every re-fill at Safeway has been a struggle. Most recently, our re-fills were delayed without explanation for a week. One of the more critical prescriptions was delayed more than a week, and after seeing on the Safeway rx app that it was ready for pick-up, was told at the counter that only half of it was available. And, if we accepted the half-filled prescription, that would cancel the prescription. Was also told, without explanation, that Safeway couldn't get that prescription in the future. Absolutely ridiculous. We won't use a Safeway pharmacy again. read more

Safeway Pharmacy in Chehalis is doing everything possible to force customers to go elsewhere. The manager is rude, has ordered staff not to answer phones, will not update whether the prescriptions are filled or not (it really pisses you off when you drive 40 miles one way after giving the Chehalis Safeway Pharmacy several days to fill a prescript, and you find out that they have not filled it yet even though they have it.) The manager needs to be replaced and a manager hired that puts the customers first. read more

I noticed I was out of a critical medication. I called and they indicated that I had picked it up already. I only go once a month for all my meds except a supplement so this is not possible. Unfortunately I have this place a good review not two months ago. Corporate has instituted a new policy where 3 aisles worth of goods ie alcohol, medicine, bath goods, home care, etc. are segregated into a separate space that you cannot go into without checking your bag and making any and all purchases before leaving. This store's staff has implemented this so poorly it's crazy. They were only let one person check so they have 8-10 minute lines. Also people who could be checking people out are instead standing guard and making sure people can't go to self checkout instead of waiting. Last night Safeway closed early. I arrived before Midnight. Store security would not let me enter. When I protested, one officer threw me to the cement outside the store. The store manager shut and locked the door in my face. I am a 74 year-old woman who shops here on a daily basis. I am well known to the staff, including the director of Security for Safeway in Portland. I treat the staff with respect and pay my bills. I was stunned by the treatment I received and will report it. I expect store security to have common sense and a few more tools in their toolbox. Avoid this pharmacy at all costs. Seriously. Phone system will call or text you and tell you and tell you your prescription is ready. It won't be. You'll discover this after making a special trip to pick it up. You'll ask if they can get it ready while you do some shopping and you'll be told "no" because they're short staffed. The pharmacist will then tell you he doesn't run the phone system and cant tell you why it said your prescription is ready. He'll then passively aggressive aggressively talk down to you and tell you you'll have to come back tomorrow even though it's only mid-afternoon and the pharmacy is open until 9. I have been dealing with stuff like this on a regular basis at this pharmacy for years. I once got home to find I had been given someone else's prescription! With no apology or explanation when I took it back. I've also been given incorrect quantities of medication and been told I'll have to come back later to get the rest again, because they're too busy. This pharmacy is just broken from the top down. I used another pharmacy for years before I moved to Portland with virtually no issues, this one, there's always an issue. When I finally called my doctors office to switch pharmacies the nurse I was speaking to said she is constantly having issues with this pharmacy as well and we bonded over our shared disregard for the place. Not only is the safeway pharmacy app horrible, but no one can help you with it. You explain to the pharmacist or technician that one minutes the refill says it is being filled, then suddenly it disappears and no record of it exists, but the pharmacy technician tells you she doesn't know anything about the app. Well maybe get a clue and get trained on what your customers have to go through just to get information. read more

I called 4 times over the course of a month. They told me they didn't have my prescription. I finally found out that they definitely have it (doctor told me). I pressed them on it and they eventually "found" it. This is not the first time they haven't been able to find my script. I assume this pharmacy is the least organized pharmacy around. My prescription was sent in Wednesday for it to be filled today, Friday. I waited in line for 45 minutes for the Pharmacist to tell me that it is not ready and it won't be ready until after 2 PM, I got there at 11:50 AM and since she was the only one and everybody was on lunch break she couldn't fill it till after 2 pm because she hast to take lunch also.... Don't you think if you get a prescription sent a couple days in advanced you would have it filled snd ready to go the day of? Not wait until the day of for it to be filled. My doctor had to send in a prior authorization for my insurance and then once I had it, Safeway informed me they did not have enough of my medication!! Literally the worst pharmacy I have had to deal with. Dropped a prescription off on Thursday to be filled. I didn't need it immediately and didn't want to wait so I told them I would come back and pick it up. I waited until Monday morning a full 4 days. When I returned they told me they hadn't filled the prescription because the insurance needed a prior authorization. They hadn't contacted me, hadn't contacted my doctor. They just stopped doing anything. The medication without insurance only costed $24, if they had bothered to reach out to me at all I would have at least had time to contact the insurance, or I would have told them to just go ahead and fill it, which is what I did. When I came Monday I still had to wait 30 minutes for them to fill it now. read more

Terrible service. You have to hassle them to refill your prescriptions, and show up four or 5 times before they are ready.

A warning if you want to get a shingles shot at Safeway and you are on Medicare. They would not bill my Part D insurance, and wanted me to pony up $174 for my shot. I went to Walgreens where they do bill part D and the cost was 0. Otherwise the Safeway place is ok, they have a nice waiting room and they were polite. read more

Almost a complete turnover in staff has turned this pharmacy around as well. They are friendly, efficient, available and helpful. Do not go here. I recently moved to Portland and decided this place would be the closest place to pick up my prescription from. NEVER AGAIN. The employees have no idea what they're doing. Their system for finding your prescription is disorganized to the point that it's laughable. You have a prescription that comes in a box? Well you'll have to wait for the "pharmacist" to look through hundreds of pill bottles before they find yours. And then, after you wait through the 30 minute line surrounded by some sketchy people, and after you wait for the clueless employee to search for your item, odds are they won't have it, or they do, but it'll take about two hours for them to take the time to hand it to you. Don't think you can avoid this by calling it in. I tried, the machine told me it would be ready by 3, I got there at 4, and when I mentioned this to the pharmacist who had no idea what I was talking about, his response was "oh, those silly computers!" I have a feeling that when MOST of your customers leave empty-handed, it's not the computers' fault. Every time I have tried to pick up one simple (automatic refill) prescription has been a complete disaster. Oh, and looking to pick up some medicine to prevent you from getting sick? Don't even try, because the person at the register will sniffle and cough in her hand and transmit whatever she has to you! If I could give zero stars, I would. I moved to Portland a year ago & bought a condo just a block away from Safeway, so I thought it would be very convenient to have my monthly prescription filled there. 90% of the time, I am frustrated by my experience. I have been told my prescription would take 10 minutes to fill, then told it would be an hour (I could've just come back for it the following day). I have also gotten a condescending reply about how they have over 200 prescriptions to fill in front of me when I asked about how long it would take before I could pick up my prescription (how about you just tell me to come pick it up the following day?). I had a couple of months of lag between insurance for my old job & new job, & every time I refilled my prescription in the interim (I told them I was happy to pay full price until my new insurance took effect), the pharmacy tech stressed to me that they're making a SPECIAL EXCEPTION for me, but they NEED my new insurance information AS SOON AS I GET IT. I understand that this Safeway location is "Psycho Safeway," & it gets a large amount of indigent customers. & I'm sure the pharmacy techs deal with a number of troublesome customers who are not the smartest bunch. However, I am obviously not a junkie & also articulate, so how about you drop the condescension? Once I updated my insurance information, they continued to bill my HSA (I assumed incorrectly that my insurance covered only part of my prescription). 5 months later, it was discovered that my insurance had never been updated in their system. My husband gave them our insurance information again over the phone as I stood, waiting at the counter, & they couldn't enter the information correctly, so he had to walk down to the store to reiterate the information. It turns put, my insurance coveres 100%, but was only offered a quick "Sorry about that" for all the time. Today, I have hit my limit. I called to refill my new prescription from my new doctor, & the tech was not only condescending to me again (I believe his name is Doug), he informed me my prescription has expired. I told him that was the last straw & I would be finding another pharmacy & hung up. I will be calling the office to complain on Monday. Went to this pharmacy for my mother who is visiting from out of town. Mike was absolutely patronizing, condescending, and the nastiest pharmacist I've ever had the displeasure of communicating with. He has the audacity to call me a liar about having prescriptions filled there via kaiser before. It is amazing that he has a job ANYWHERE let alone in the medical field. All of the employees here have no communication skills (aside from the rude variety) and barely a brain cell to share. They took my mothers kaiser card and are currently holding it for no reason. Went to Safeway Pharmacy downtown to get my flu shot. They gave me a form to fill out, but when I went back to the counter to turn it in there was a long line. It wasn't really that long, but their service is so slow that I finally gave up, and decided to come back later. When I came back a couple of days later there was again a short line, but it took about 10 minutes to get to the counter. When I did, I was told that there was nobody available to give me the flu shot. This, and there are signs everywhere in the store saying "come get your flu shot here". My husband is a pharmacist with a different company, so I usually fill there. His pharmacy did not have my medication in stock, and it would have taken up to five days to get it, so I had to look for another place to fill. This Safeway was the only place that had it in stock. I received clear communication over the phone and in person, got very fast and friendly service from the whole staff, and the pharmacist was willing to do a partial fill on a medication they did not have enough of. Many pharmacies are not willing to do this because it's a huge pain, complicated by federal regulations. Thanks! read more

If I had an option of choose a rating of zero, trust me, I would. To say that this pharmacy on Coalton rd in Superior, CO sucks is to say NOTHING! Very rude and unprofessional staff: the 3 times I have been refilling my prescription there, all ended up with bad experience. Last time, they made a comment about my name being unpronounceable (in a very rude manner), this last time they had me wait for 40 mins for the prescription that should've been ready 3 hrs ago and even after 40 mins have passed, they told me that I'll have to come back because they're backed up with online order...
