Wow... what great service I have received from my Safeway pharmacy in Rehoboth DE. I have been using other nationally named pharmacies over many years and was so very disappointed in their customer service. I recently switched over to the Safeway Pharmacy. I can't say enough about their accommodating staff to include Ayman (I don't know last name) and their pharmacy manager Wendy. They went out of their way to find/provide information regarding my medication and suggest solutions as needed. Thank you Ayman and Wendy. read more

After waiting a very long time while the pharmacist was having an obvious personal conversation with another customer, I asked for the pin needles needed for my medication. She told me they didn't have them (but had the medication so makes no sense). She then rudely asked if I got my prescription there and since I am not due for a refill I said no. I think she thought I was an IV drug addict or something. On the grocery side, I am so glad Harris Teeter opened here. They have a better selection, lower prices and don't charge 5 cents for paper bags. read more

Placed an order for delivery on 2/15/21. They sent me a text: Your delivery for 3PM-5PM on 2/15 will be processed soon. We'll let you know when your order is on the way. At 5:47 still no order. Called customer service. They called the store, and was told that department was gone for the day. I told her that I wanted to speak to her boss. She told me that someone would get back to me. No one ever did. Called customer service back 2/16 @ 11:51, talked to Sandy, she tried to help me. I told her that I wanted that order cancelled. I ordered from Fresh Market, and received my order in a timely matter. I will never go to Safeway again. The store manager could have called and apologized. I never received a call from them. Despite the lines always being too long and not enough employees, I keep going back here out of convenience. Today I ordered two drinks from the Starbucks...both size grande. Guess how surprised I was when I got home and my grande cappuccino was only large enough for me to have FOUR SIPS!! how is that okay?!?! It wasn't even the size of a Tall... $4 wasted. Store is pretty good. Pretty friendly staff. Better produce department than most. Best bakery of all the big markets. Prices are OK. Trouble is that their parent company has made Safeway just like Acme. Lousiest assortment of cat foods of any big market. Even the weekly paper ads are now identical to Acme for the most part. I do not care much for Acme and now Safeway is turning into another Acme. Shame, because i really liked the edge safeway had over Acme. Also their parent company is changing the rewards system from the spend $100 for a point to now spend $1000 for one point. Might start shopping here less now. If Giant, which is not so great, is offering the 1 point for every $100 I will get things there from now on. read more

The store itself is ok, but the employees and customer service are the absolute worst. There are never enough lines open and the checkout people will tell you to get out of their line and find another one. Ok, there aren't ever any other lines open besides self checkout or express. I'd understand if the issue was because they were short staffed, but there always seem to be a number of employees outside smoking cigarettes at all times every time I go. This could be a decent grocery store if they would get it together. read more

This is actually a surprisingly clean grocery store. This grocery store was polished, and the floor was spotless. The second I walked in, I knew I was going to like this store. The store is large and has a great number of aisles. They had everything I needed. However, just as soon as I was impressed, I got disappointed. I had some issues on the self-checkout with the cherries. It took a while for some of the staff to help me, even though to me they did not seem busy. Finally, a cashier was able to help me, but she could not fix with the problem with the cherries. And, neither did 3 other workers, which to me made is a little underwhelming. Having so much staff helping me, even though they did try. I felt like all the cashiers should have left, instead of working all together. The manager was finally able to fix the problem. I did actually like this store, though. It was one of the cleanest stores I've been to. read more

This store appears to either not monitor product expiration dates or is purposely placing expired items on its shelves. Again last night we inadvertently purchased expired items only to realize it as we went to cook. This is the 4th or 5th time this has happened to us in the last couple years. read more

Nice selection, including some organic items that can only be found near the beach at Safeway (e.g. Orange juice). The only grocery store in the area with a Starbucks in it. However, I have Never encountered a friendly cashier. What are they so grumpy about? It's no wonder they are always empty compared to the stores across the street. read more

Pharmacy is great, but many times items need 24 hours to stock. Gas rewards are great and gas prices very competitive. Store has lowest prices on the most used items, so we shop here often. Friendly staff, but some of the customers are not too friendly it seems. Bakery is the best. Good, fresh breads and nice selection. read more

Kind of strange to write a review of a grocery store, but there are several in the same couple of blocks (a Giant, a Food Lion, something called Super Fresh, and this one), and if like me you weren't sure which one to stop at, stop here. (I chose it only because I used to shop at Safeway regularly so I had a 5-year-old club card for the discount.)The produce, meat, and baked goods were great quality, but it's really the service that is a standout. I had a long list of things I was looking for because I was picking up supplies for a beach weekend for a group of 10 people, so I asked several questions of staff. They were all so nice and so knowledgeable and each of them went out of their way to do more than the bare minimum. Even the other customers are nice. After apologizing to the poor guy who got stuck behind me in line, I saw him in the parking lot and he offered to return my cart for me even though he had no need to go back inside the store. I wish every grocery shopping experience could be so pleasant! read more

It is a nice large store with plenty of space but the service is the worst of the worst , usually only 2 cashiers no one at the customer service desk. That store is so understaffed. The cooperate office needs to get involved with the issues in that store. Like no cashiers, dirty bathrooms , out of date products. No departments set up when you try to shop .Don,t shop early because bakery has nothing ready ,produce no products out. That store is a disaster it's a shame because it has a good location. read more

Nice store. However, the big problem is that they never have enough checkout lanes open. Long, painful waits are guaranteed. I've given up on this store. I'm sure this Safeway's sales are very low compared to neighboring grocery stores which are much busier, but more efficient in the checkout department. How about some self-checkout lanes? I moved to the ROHOBETH area two years ago and used SAFEWAY for my medical needs. Each time I've gone, I have to wait, which I guess is understandable. And it wasn't so bad because I would do my shopping. BUT THIS TIME, I went to pick up my prescription and was told to come back in a few days. TODAY I returned, and was waiting in line, when I was told I may or maynot be getting my prescription, there was only one person working, there were several ahead of me, and those who needed shots would be going first. One woman who recently had surgery had been waiting for over an hour, and when she finally spoke up, because she was in so much pain, the employee stated, you are next, but she continued to work on someone else's needs. DON't GET YOUR MEDICATIONS COMPLETED HERE. THERE IS A REASON WHY THERE ARE ONLY a TWO STAR RATING..... Cashier in the Rehoboth Safeway express lane was visiting with a friend and when I made a comment that I was in a hurry to get out, she and the friend started attacking me verbally, calling me a bitch and the cashier refused to scan my items by pretending she was counting out change to her friend. The friend was eating an apple and it was obvious that the casher was not charging her. I had to move to another lane. Complained to the manager but it was obvious, Safeway does not care. This was my regular, twice a week grocery store. Changing to Giant which is across the street. Used my last gas discount and being near the store was making me sick. Don't need this in my life.
