What a joke this place is now. Seems every single time go in there; every single employee is hiding somewhere. Went in last weekend and not only are the prices sky high now, I went to go to the checkout stands and there were ZERO checkers, AGAIN. I had to ask the self-checkout shoplifting guard if Safeway had laid all the checkers off or something, she then had the nerve to asked me "do you need a checker"? DUH. I used to go to Safeway every time I shop for groceries, but since this is the norm every singe time I go, I won't be going anymore. I imagine Safeway will go the way of the Do Do bird and Albertsons soon with their horrible non-existent customer service. If I am paying the enormously raised prices, I sure the hell do not want to have to check and bag my own groceries at all. Thats their job, yet they don't want to do it. When I do the self-checkout, why don't I/We get a discount for doing their job FOR THEM? Ridiculous way to attempt to do business. You piss off your customers, and we will find another place to shop. Safeway doesn't seem to care at all. The service is just getting worst every week. Safeway just do us the favor, and close since you don't want to be in business anymore. Hey, Remy The Rat here from Ratatouille! Have you ever thought to yourself, "I like to lift people up when they are down"? Well I have. Let me explain. This Safeway is currently at a two and a half star rating on Yelp. Do I fear my life when I shop for some mustard due to the painfully dim lighting and eerie sounds of faint screams? No. Are the shelves falling apart due to the rippling panic on Earth when there was a food shortage which started the post-apocalyptic world? Nope. Are there flying demons that roam the isles, searching for small children to snatch up and fly away to eat in the seafood department? No, I can promise you...there are not. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good bad rating writing session. Although, it seems as though that is all this Safeway receives. I have walked in and out of this Safeway more times than you can count to ten. And not ONCE have I left with a frown upon my rat face. Wow, the service keeps getting worse, the prices highest in town. Good luck check out, the store can be packed and you're lucky to have two checkers, and a long line at the self checkout. Been here 20 years and it just gets worse and worse. Sometimes 50% higher than other stores and all the employees hate it. They jack around hours in order to avoid paying benefits. This review Is for the Chinese Deli. Went in for lunch the other day; Friday. Ordered the two entrees w/ noodles. I forgot what I got (not a good sign), but one was fine, nice and spicy, the other was very bland, no taste. The noodles were dried out, not completely, but they were not very good. And, for $7.50, the portion size was pretty small. I'd say one serving size spoon for each entree, two for noodles. Definitely won't be eating there again. I'll go up the street to the Chinese Buffet, about $10.00 for all you can eat and soda. As a side note. I've gone to Safeway for their bagels, unfortunately (again), the consistency on them isn't very good. I get the jap/cheese and once in a while there is a nice portion of jap/cheese, but most of the time, it's pretty sparse especially on weekends. Thank you for your time. read more

My friend worked here for a couple months and was doing great. At the end of her shift, her manager in the deli pulled her aside and forced her to quit against her will. Really disgusting and negative environment for anyone to be working in. Wouldn't recommend letting your kids get their first jobs here. I've seen the manager a couple times myself as well, and she was rude every time I came into contact with her. There was once point I asked to have some ham off the bone cut super thin for my dinner that night, and she cut it about half an inch thick and then walked off after handing me the bag without saying another word to me. Def don't recommend going here for your meats. Walmart would even be better then this to be honest...really disappointed as I've been coming here for awhile, but I've just had enough sadly. read more

Awful service every visit. The last cashier to scan my groceries refused to wear a mask over her mouth/ nose and decided to tell everyone her political opinions. Came home to see that she didn't put half of the groceries added to the belt back in my basket so some poor courtesy person probably had to either put them away again or they rotted in a bag. read more

Home of the worst customer service of any Safeway I've ever shopped. Checkers are constantly bombarded with chitter chatter from other store employees. Today when I tried to interrupt an employee who was really distracting the checker, I was basically told that her subject matter was more important. I reminded her that the customer ahead of me and myself were what was important. I was double charged on a $15.99 item last week because the clerk was distracted. Nobody shops this store for the customer service, I get it. But I'm really not coming back again ever. You all need to see how other Safeway stores are managed. Customer service is usually of a pretty high standard everywhere else. read more

The curtesy clerk Austen does a great job and Daniel is a very Helpful Deli Clerk. The Checker clerk was fast and Efficient. Found my favorite products that id been missing. Large store, friendly staff.

It's conveniently located near the intersection of two main streets in town. The employees are friendly, but it seems they can't get enough considering there are usually only two or three registers open with a bit of a wait. They don't have the best prices in town but the selection is good and gas rewards are a plus. read more

We would normally give this Safeway a five star but on this day only, so far, on Friday, May 13, the store was in rare form. Until that Friday we have enjoyed coming and shopping there. We're hoping the problems we observed then were just a fluke. It started off by trying to get help at the meat counter. Three employees, 2 guys and a female, looked to be having a private party behind the counter and acted put-out to have to help my husband and me. They continued the party after helping us which included throwing a baseball size of ground meat at each other that landed outside the counter on the floor. My husband watched one of the guys pick it up and throw it back at the other guy inside the meat cutting area. At the Deli, the older woman employee gave me wrong price labels on EVERY product. And they were not prices that would change with the coupons at the register. I asked the guy employee to help and he correctly repriced what I had bought. The woman employee wouldn't investigate what she was doing wrong on the pricing and it was very frustrating. Never have had this incompetency at the Deli counter before. Also, there was nothing at 11:45 am in the hot case other than fried chicken. No hot Asian food or misc items to buy already made otherwise, that are usually there. Somebody was really dragging their feet-nothing out for lunch. In the bakery, I asked a bakery employee putting things in the cases if they had a flan cake with the fruit on top that I've bought there many times before and she answered, I don't know, I'm new here. Never offered to extend herself any further, like check with someone or ask about it. Also, many spaces in the bakery were empty without product, and we had never seen that there before. Also, at checkout, my husband asked the manager in his office about there not being a single bagger at checkout and also mentioned the meat throwing event. The manager reacted saying Oh, in a very unconcerned way, and never got up to see or check out anything. We left the store feeling very dissatisfied. We only grocery shop at this store and hope it will return to the well managed and clean store as it has always been previously. read more

This has to be the nicest grocery store in yown. I love their deli with good deals and fast service. Well stocked supermarket with a Starbucks inside. Be sure to use your discount card for savings. Safeway offers an app that can be quite helpful, especially when it comes to coupons you can put on your discount card for easy use. read more

Best place in Roseburg to get groceries. Awesome selection of some great food. Currently eating one of their Signature Cafe soups and it is remarkable for heat-and-eat. Clean grocery gets good reviews! read more

i use to shop here all the time made it a point to at least two times a month come here but no more its only if it happens to be convenient as in i am in the neighborhood which is 11 miles from where i am. For starters , as in other stores, they went from having the most selection of ocean spray cranberry juices to little of nothing same every other store in this county had and certain other things i usually come there for as they are the only ones that carry it they do not carry. but the worst is some of the cashiers. Like today, I shall now name names but this one cashier that was ringing up the lady in front of me her groceries out of the blue left her post at the cash register and wandered off we knew not where. she deserted her post for 10 minutes. A lady who looked like a manager by the way she was dressed walked by not even saying anything to us about why the cashier left just started at us in line and it was a long line. the cashier came back and was neither apologetic that we had to wait nor recognized any of us were there she ignored us basically going on waiting on the lady in front of us. we were about to walk out leaving our groceries on the counter. just this place gone from being the one and only place for items and service to having nothing we cant get at another store and the cashiers uncaring about who is standing in iine and leaving their without a word to anyone oh yeah and the manager looking at us like as if to say why you all standing in line and ignored us read more
