Always had a pleasant experience, so I am dropping a line as clearly only disgruntled people write reviews of pharmacies. :) It's a pharmacy. Your doctor puts in the prescription, within hours you get a text that the prescription is ready. I get that on specific times of day the line is huge, but by and large they're readily available. They are a small shop so sometimes they don't answer the phone. That's about the only "issue," if you can call it that. Never had issue with getting vaccines there either. read more

The line is always very long why don't they have two people on the counter and when I get to the front they don't have my prescription ready or they say we didn't have the drug so they had to bring it in very frustrating and it waste my time not a good customer service. read more

I've been visiting this pharmacy for about five years and, while they've had a few employees who weren't the best, I've found them to be largely friendly, helpful, and pleasant to work with and I won't hesitate to continue purchasing my prescriptions here. People are much more inclined to write a review when they're angry than when they're satisfied with the service they received. That some reviewers find it necessary to write lengthy diatribes as if people were interested in the details (we're not) only underscores the get-even motivation of the few people who for whatever reason had a bad experience. Terrible on multiple fronts. They almost never answer the phone and you cannot leave a message. They won't fill a prescription without insurance approval but they don't notify you they are not filling it so I have had half a dozen occasions where I have had to go into the store to find out why a prescription has not been filled, even though I am paying for the prescription myself and then submitting the claim insurance. I would give Safeway Pharmacy zero stars if I could. They are the worst / slowest service pharmacy in the entire city of West Linn, and likely in the Portland metro area. At any moment in time they have at least 4-5 people working on filling prescriptions behind a desk, and they look really disoriented and incompetent. At the same time, there is just one person working both the prescription drop-off and pick-up. There are usually at least 3-4 people waiting in this hopeless line. Why hopeless, you ask? Because it takes that single person minimum 15- 20 minutes to process every customer... I literally sat there and measured it with my stopwatch. So with 4 person lined up before you, you're looking at spending about an hour. Consider yourself warned. My family used to go here and we switched to another local pharmacy years ago, and we never ever looked back! read more

Go somewhere else. I realize they are convenient but the level of incompetence and lack of communication is unbelievable. From antibiotics not being put into solution to multiple "lost" prescriptions from the doctor, the amount of time I've wasted just trying to get medicine here is ridiculous. Totally rude. I'm extremely sensitive to generic medications and fortunately, unfortunately, this Safeway has one that doesn't give me a slew of side effects. I'm not one to write bad reviews either; we all have bad days and I understand that job is hard, exhausting and people aren't the nicest when wanting their scripts: I mean it is peoples health, I get the frustration. On both sides. Anyways, particularly there is one employee who is extremely rude to me on the phone and in person. And is NOT transparent. I have had multiple scripts not received, been told so many times it's ready and then when I show up, nothing. And this last interaction blew me out of the water. I was told a medication was finally received, after two days of calling and script being sent five times. I Was told it would be ready in the next couple hours. Left work early (this was six hrs after I was told it'd be ready in a couple hours), so I could get it before I had to pickup my son, waited in a long line, and then was told, first, it's not ready, Then I was told it was too soon. But , I stated, my doctor okay'd it because of the sensitivities. Then I was told they were out of the medication anyways. Then I was told they had the medication. Then I was told but there's a list of people who need it before you. Then I was told the lady who helped me was a float, then I was given the absolute run around and could not get a straight answer. I understand there's miscommunication, but this pharmacy is/has been struggling with transparency for the last year. I have several family members who pick up here and it is getting worse by day. Patient care included. All I really wanted, was an I'm sorry for the miscommunication or this is what happened. Accountability would be nice. And honesty. And stop acting like I'm taking from your personal stash of medication. It doesn't belong to you, it belongs to the pharmacy and the patients who pay for it. This employee should not be handling customers or phone calls. I work in medical and it's not easy, but I can promise if you just handle patients with compassion and care, it makes your job a lot easier and everyone's experience better. And HONESTY/TRANSPARENCY. The disrespect and the way these people are talking to patients is absolutely not okay. Get out of the care field if you don't know how to handle patients with care. The one star is for the occasional nice person who answers the phone. Not the one employee, who is a male. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. So I get that they are understaffed. I tried calling all day (total of 18 times to check on 4 prescriptions since the messaging system never send me a message when they are done). I get there and wait in a line for 30 min. When I get up to the front they only have 2 of them done. And according to them, they needed more information from the doctor. This would be ok, except I had spoken to my doctor today and he had said nothing about information needed on these scripts that had been put in Monday. So I ask can you guys make sure I get a call or something when this goes through so that I know they are ready, since you guys aren't answering the phone and the lines are 30 min. Apparently this is too much to ask. I got told that I needed to tell my doctor what they needed on these prescription. (That doesn't help me know fulfillment status nor is that my job) that my doctor didn't know how to write a prescription. That I needed to figure it out. The sheer amount of attitude from the pharmacist was unreal. Basically everything was thrown back at me when it is their lack of staffing or interest in even noting the account. It is so unfortunate that zero or minus stars are not a selection, because this Safeway pharmacy is the worst I've ever been to! 1. They do not honor their coupons. 2. They have inaccurate prices. 3. They lie about their prices. 4. They do not follow-through on your requests to have a script transferred from competitors. 5. They do not look up your account accurately. 6. There are three other pharmacies within 1 mile. CVS, Riteaid, and Walgreens is right across the street. I will never use Safeway pharmacy on Boone Ferry ever again. The experience I had today was just horrible! I came in to pick-up a prescription for my dog: a very old, simple antibiotic for a UTI prophylaxis. the medication was ordered 3 days ago, but they had a question and called the vet. Then they had a call from my vet yesterday, so I gave them a whole day to figure it out. Would you believe me that the medicine was not ready today? Worse than that: they didn't know the name of the medication, they didn't know the dose, they did not have a message on the voice mail and the "temp pharmacist from an outside agency, who was working on my prescription yesterday", was not available today. They couldn't call him, they didn't know their name, but they offered a solution: They asked me to call my vet, then they asked me to go back to my vet's office tomorrow, bring them a hard copy of the medications, then they may fill it in tomorrow or some other day in a future. When I said I would like to have this medicine today, because we have just finished an antibiotic and would like to start the new one without interruption in therapy they just ignored me and asked to step aside and wait. I am also a healthcare worker. I am a Nurse Practitioner and I work in a major trauma center here in Oregon. If I would provide a care like this pharmacy does, half of my patients wouldn't survive. read more

My doctor had made a few changes in my psychiatric meds while trying to figure out how best to help. The pharmacist always ignores the doctors request to change refill dates and prescriptions. When did pharmacists no better about the mental help needs of people getting help from their doctors. The worst thing about this is they likely don't change the refill dates because they don't want to take the time to do so if they have to do so before the first date given by the doctor. I understand a lot of other people's pain. The line is long, it takes a long time to get your prescription filled. It's definitely not the employees fault. Safeway seems to not pay as much as other places. Also do you see how many drugs they are filling. They are all doing the best they can. I've been going to this pharmacy for 10 years. I get my prescription every 2 weeks stand in line 25% it's out of stock. Yes it's a little frustrating. Again I believe everyone is really helpful. The turn around of employment is head spinning. I learned the one of my favorite guys was headhunted by Kaiser mail order. He left due to big pay raise. This is the problem w/ this Safeway they don't keep the employees happy then those poor employees deal w/ fun Karin's. I would run too! Just be nice they are doing the best they can! Yet another incompetent Safeway pharmacy. I tried for 3 days to transfer a prescription from this pharmacy to a different one since I've moved and West Linn is a long drive for me now. Every time I call they act like they have never filled a prescription for me before and deny receiving any requests for a transfer. read more

I noticed that I was running out of one of my prescriptions. All are on autofill so I checked my account and saw that the one I needed was "In Progress". It was Sunday and I assumed it would be ready on Monday; I had enough pills and thought there would be time to have it mailed to me. Two days later it still wasn't ready so I started calling. I made 22 calls and never connected plus they refuse to let you leave a message. I was down to 3 pills so I called my doctor's office; they tried to call via the provider's line but no one answered them either. Out of desperation I finally called Safeway customer service and they kindly offered to take a message to the pharmacy ... no one ever contacted me. Finally the status changed to Ready, I was down to one pill so I could no longer have it delivered. I don't drive so I had to walk one mile round trip with my cane. There was no explanation and no apologies from staff when they handed me the prescription. read more

Pharmacy always, always, always abysmally slow. I don't understand how it takes days to fill a prescription.

I got a call from the pharmacy that my prescription was ready. So I went down there in the afternoon yesterday and was waiting while two other people were waiting. There were two employees behind the counter. The first customer left and one of the employees went to work on the computer. The other employee was assisting the other customer who must've had seven medication requests. I was standing and waiting for about 15 minutes without being helped by the other employee. So I said excuse me i'm just here for a pick up. The employee helping the other guy immediately pounced on me that I'm just gonna have to wait because they're busy. I said I just thought it would just take 30 seconds to give me my prescription. And couldn't the other guy assist me? He said the other guy is a doctor and he's doing important work. So I waited and when the other customer left they both became sarcastic and after giving me my meds one of them said "See? That took longer than 30 seconds." . I can see why this pharmacy consistently gets negative reviews. I have never had a problem with the women who work behind the pharmacy. I'm wondering if these guys talked to me like that because I'm a woman? This has been my first complaint about the store and I've been going there for six years now. They have no respect for customer service. Certainly the other guy who was on the computer could have walked around and given me my medication. The women who work there do that all the time. At the least, they should've apologized for the wait and said will be right there to help you. But to give an attitude harshly right at the start? I wasn't even being rude. I was being polite about it. And when they were finished giving me my medication they joked about the fact that they will probably get a negative review from me and joked to the other customer as he walked away "make sure you give us a review of 10." read more

I don't much appreciate the blasting Christian music. If it was subtle, maybe? Even then, this isn't an era to add to "minority" religious people's feeling of unwelcome. It doesn't hurt anyone to choose music with more general, I think, so it's hard not to read it as a statement. It's not my right to never feel uncomfortable, but it is my right to not go places that make me feel uncomfortable, and to inform the community of my concerns. Thank you. read more
