To be honest this was a great Safeway. I'm not sure I get the bad reviews, it could be that since I'm not a local and only stopped in a few times over the course of a week I had a somewhat isolated experience, but I enjoyed coming here and had no issues. The first thing I loved is that I never found it to be too busy. I also noticed it was well stocked, and we were able to snag what we needed, and even found some local beers in stock which was a nice treat. This was the most convenient grocery store and pharmacy for us while on vacation this past spring and it really was great. The Pharmacist we talked to the phone was helpful, the store was clean, and it met all of our expectations. If you're travelling this store won't let you down. read more

Safeway used to be my favorite store! Despite following all of the "rules" concerning advertised digital coupons and discounts the price charged on several items is higher. You either hold up the line while the cashier verifies the price and corrects it, or you get home and realize you were overcharged and have to go back for a refund. I understand "once in a while" errors but the situation occurs every time I shop there. read more

The butcher is unbelievably rude. How did anyone decide to give him a position that requires customer service is a mystery. Safeway really needs to replace him or have him work in the back where he doesn't need to talk to anyone.Buying all of our meat at City Market from now on. read more

This is a great store! It's clean and always has everything we need! We stop here every time we come through woodland park on our way fishing. Just have one complaint about a manager named Stephanie. She's tall with short white hair. She is very rude to people and acts like shes mad at you and just has a terrible attitude ! I didn't appreciate the way she treats people! This isn't the 1st We have been in th8s store to notice her behavior! This time was was Friday Sept. 19, 2025. I'm very sure there are other people who feel the same! If this were my business I would most definitely want happy caring people to work for me not run people off! Just thought someone should know what's happening in their place of business! Let's all head over to WALMART where everyone pays the same price(much less) and poor people don't need smartphones to get discounts, no phone numbers needed and you can purchase just about everything from TV's, paint, clothes, and outdoor goods. Shoppers, check the expiration dates on EVERYTHING you are buying. This store has so much expired food on their shelves, it isn't funny. Obviously their stockers don't know how to stock the shelves properly. Very poor management here. Shop in the Springs for your groceries. read more

We visited Safeway on US 24 in Woodland Park twice during our 5 night stay in town. It was a convenient 5 minute walk from the place we were renting down the road, so for convenience, I'd give it a 5-star. BUT, on our last eve., we stopped after dinner to get a few things for the long drive home the next day. One thing I found that I wasn't even looking for, was my favorite decaf coffee: Peets ground in a 10.5 oz bag. I think the normal price was $12.99 but it was on sale for under $9.00. I bought a bag, along with the other stuff, returned to our rental to pack up for the following morning. SO ... at about 6:00am we're ready to hit the road, when I looked at the coffee and saw that the "best by" date was May, 2022. Well, I wasn't about to go to the store again at that early hour, so off we went on our 13 hr. drive to home. You guessed it, my "favorite" coffee tasted like swill the following morning. Threw the rest away. So, for my evaluation of this store, here are my ratings: Location (convenience) 5-star Cleanliness 5-star Friendliness of staff 5 star Rotation and purge of stock 1 star I have no way of validating this concern, but ... if this bag of coffee slipped through the cracks and sat on the shelf for likely well over a year, how many other items may also be "just sitting there." read more

I used to buy ALL my groceries at Safeway, until I witnessed a deli employee shove a huge wad of baloney into her mouth. As she took her hand back out of her mouth, licking each finger as she went... she put that same hand directly on a slab of turkey that she was supposed to slice for me. I told her I no longer wanted the turkey since she had essentially just spit all over it, so she put it right back on the shelf. (Go figure) On my way out of the store, (furious) I told the manager about it... but he acted completely disinterested. That, in itself, told me a lot. It wasn't the first bad experience I've had at that particular Safeway, but it's the one that put me over the edge, and prompted me to find a new place to buy food. Typically, it was impossible to find someone working in the deli who was motivated to assist you. Aside from that, their 'value prices' don't always ring up as advertised at the register, so watch out for price gouging. Some of the products they carry never get stocked, so you need to find an employee to retrieve certain items for you, and then wait... because they keep certain things in a back room somewhere, instead of on the shelves. (like Zola) The so-called "fresh" meat and seafood is actually frozen, then thawed. The other grocery store in Woodland Park is smaller, but they actually have a much more friendly staff. If I can't find something there, I'll make a special trip to Walmart... I'll never buy groceries at Safeway again. read more

Dropped by the Deli for several trays of sandwiches, cheeses, cookies and veggies. Gave the store notice the prior day and was there ready for pickup. Packed up the trays of food ($240+) and when I got home to place on serving trays, I noticed that the sandwiches had been cut randomly, thrown on the tray, dry, and not worthy of serving. My lawnmower could of done a better job. Cookies falling apart and broken. I was totally disappointed. Never again.. read more

If you must go to Safeway, this is the best one especially compared to the Colorado Springs locations. I quit going to Safeway on a regular basis because the produce went seriously downhill at all locations. Meanwhile in their bid to cater to the upper echelon, prices have gone up. read more

My family shopped here regularly... UNTIL this Safeway went "to the dogs"... literally. This is an ongoing problem in Colorado in general. FAKE SERVICE DOGS are everywhere. No one has a problem with a legitimate service animal for a person with a legitimate disability. I'ts annoying when the local hardware store allows pets in... but to allow pets in a GROCERY STORE should NEVER happen. The spineless management doesn't give a rip about the health and safety of their patrons. Those liars who bring fake "service animals" into places where food is sold are incredibly selfish and should be ashamed of themselves. If you can't get groceries without your dog you have serious problems. We have long decided to do our shopping at the local City Market which has a backbone and doesn't allow this crap. I hope that Safeway understands that someone with no kids and a dog is driving away the business of our family of SIX. read more

I'm not entirely sure what it was about this Safeway, but we loved it. Maybe the fact that it's so spacious--we're from NYC so we don't get that--and not too full of people? (Though we certainly did meet some CHARACTERS there.) Pretty decent selection of fresh herbs and organics. Not a whole lot of great cheese options, but the dearth actually led us to discover MouCo Cheese Company, a Fort Collins cheesery which makes a decent Camembert and an excellent, excellent one called ColoRouge. We didn't take advantage of this, but it was comforting that they had those movie rental boxes up front just in case, since we were up in the mountains and couldn't get our Netflix. ;) It's a great grocery. read more

I've always shopped at Safeway grocery stores! Moved to woodland park not too long ago and of course I decided to do my grocery shopping here. After getting home I had around 8 products that have expired a few weeks before. Had to return the products to get fresh! I thought that maybe I just came at a bad time. I gave Safeway like 6 more try's and shopped there again. Once again lots of expired foods. Now when I HAVE to go there I have to spend an extra hour there looking at dates on products.
