The website was a bit confusing to me but stick with it- it's worth it, and once you start to text Gayle it's very smooth, she's very nice. Contrast that with Elvenstar where the ponies are always clean and ready to go and the instructors very rarely miss a lesson. Also, in contrast to our first barn, there are a ton of young girls at Elvenstar for my daughter to make friends with and to ride with. She's made a couple great friends there. I'm glad we found Elvenstar. We're on our third leased pony in ~3 years because KK's skills are improving quickly and she's growing! The skill increase is a direct result of time in the saddle and KK's willingness to listen to and learn from Elvenstar's professional team. Barns, like horses, have personalities so Elvenstar may not be right for everyone. But it's been right for us for about three years and I can absolutely see it being our barn for many years to come.

I have been riding and showing horses for most of my life. I've worked with many different trainers…read moreall over the country in a number of different disciplines, competing at the national level, and Diane is hands down the best trainer I have ever worked with. I initially found Diane when I wanted to learn to jump for the collegiate equestrian team. She teaches jumping from a dressage point of view, so the rider learns how to be secure in their seat and communication with the horse, as opposed to just going along for the ride. In two summers I went from never jumping in my life to being able to safely jump 4 ft. fences and be comfortable on almost any horse. I am now riding dressage with Diane and I have learned more in a few years riding with her than I have in over a decade with other trainers. Her teaching style is very straightforward and honest, and she knows when to push forward, when to change tactics, and when to step back, which is so rare in any type of instruction. Diane is truly a world class instructor and trainer, if you are looking for a place to ride don't hesitate to call her!

Today I can do not only that but also have confidence that I can control the horse with my seat and built a strong foundation of knowledge all around the sport. Diane is a fantastic teacher and take her time to explain the reasons behind everything that she teach. You get to groom the horse every class, which makes you connect to the animal on another level. All animals are kept is best shape and conditions. I always feel like home when I go to my classes. Highly recommend! I met some of their young students and was amazing by level of confidence that the kids build with Diane's help. She also works with kids that have disabilities and they all achieve amazing results!

You learn more there than just riding, grooming, etc. You learn horsemanship! The stable is located on Stokes Canyon in beautiful Malibu!! It's so incredible there, with trails, right out the gate or just taking lessons in the large arena with Robert ~ I love that there is round pen too if needed. Everything you need is there depending on your goals. Western or English & or brand new to horses! Again, Robert is so the patient, so great with kids too! He teaches, safety, patience & confidence!! Well, I thought it would go well at this place for my daughter but yet again, another riding school…read morelet down. Erika (the hired trainer) had my daughter do a private evaluation lesson. When it was over she said for my daughter to come again next week for another private evaluation lesson. She said the owner, Michelle, would be there and would watch my daughter and decide which class to put her in. We got there and Michelle was nowhere to be found and two other kids were in my daughters "private evaluation lesson." So, it was a waste of our time and money because there was no evaluation and it wasn't private. Even so, I was hoping this place would work out. Erika was busy when the lesson was over but I texted her right away to see which classes they have available for my daughter. All the text got was a thumbs up. I didn't want to bother her and figured she would text me with class days and times soon. Well, it took her 6 days to text me back. She said to come again for another evaluation lesson the next day. I don't know why a place needs 3 evaluation lessons. We have been to many ranches and one lesson has sufficed. I guess they wanted to make extra money for less time. Erika seems to think we have nothing to do but sit around and wait for her text. I didn't answer her text until the next day and told her she could have texted me sooner as my daughter has a life besides this place. I also asked if she was going to refund some of our money that we are entitled to because my daughter did not have a private evaluation lesson the week before. Erika accidently sent me the text that she was obviously planning to send to Michelle. It said and I quote, "Can I tell her to fuck off please" Wow, really nice. We did nothing wrong here. What a horrible way to do business. If they would have kept things they way they should have been they would have another customer and most likely a leaser or boarder. Instead, this trashy Erika wanted to tell me to fuck off. I honestly don't know what all the good reviews are about. Probably friends of Michelle and Erika's.
