I finally landed on a good Oral Surgeon with De Seider! I gave Sage of Plantation a 5 star review based on that, 7 months ago. Now, I'd give them a 1 star, as Dr. Seider turned out to be the only good thing about Sage. I PAID for a package to do extraction, Sinus lift, Implant, etc. at The Dental Group in Oakland Park BEFORE they became part of Sage. That Group's Oral Surgeon couldn't do a sinus lift due first to sinus infection, which I remedied with Surgery, and then months later due to "swelling". Turns out that Dr. Seider did NOT have to do a Sinus lift (which I'd paid for) and was able to perform the oral surgery with ease. HE is GREAT. Then flash forward to the part where I was going to get my implant. They did all the scanning, had the implant made, and when I went for appointment to get it, it didn't fit "properly", so the dentist wanted to get a new one. So they go and make the new one, and I go back to get implant, and the dentist did lots of grinding but finally got the implant to "fit". Now the fun part, after all this AND having to go back for second visit, they have the nerve to tell me that insurance didn't pay for the whole implant visit and I owed $160. It isn't the money that bothers me, but the fact that 1) I paid for the whole package PRIOR to my dentist becoming part of Sage, 2) my package included a sinus lift which never had to be performed, 3) SAGE SHOULD honor the package of any office they "acquire" and do all for the price I paid. They didn't, so I will NOT go back to Sage Plantation or Oakland Park, and would never recommend them. Unhappily...as one previous reviewer wrong, "...the corporate office and billing continues to be a pain. Refusal to provide statements of account is plain crazy as that has constantly led to over charges on my account. Did not even get to see the Dentist. Nyah at the front desk could not be more unwelcoming, rude or have a worse attitude. Loris P. made the appointment and had an attitude as well, all I did was ask a question and I got attitude, she said she was exhausted. What? I'm sorry I visit the dentist 1 or 2 times a year and I don't know everything. It is your job to assist clients so please don't get an attitude because I asked a question about payment and my HMO. Wait time is horrible. I told them I had to be in and out because of my work schedule and since I took my appointment during lunch. They said no problem. 90 mins later they had only taken X-rays and I spoke with the doctor but he didn't do anything in my mouth. It was my first appointment with them and then they told me to schedule a follow up for my cleaning. Not sure why they had me come in the first time since they told me my first appointment was for a regular cleaning. Next appointment, they had me in the office for 2.5 hours. An hour and a half of that was waiting in the lobby and in the patient chair. Only positive was that the doctor is a kind man. This unfortunate experience made me feel they don't respect my time at all. Doesn't surprise me others share similar experiences. read more

The worst service and professionalism ever. I was recently scheduled for a root canal. I left a deposit to cover part of the procedure and pay the rest after the service was performed.I was told that the cost covered the procedure plus the crown. When I arrived not only did the price change the guy, who was to do the crown wasn't there. I was then told that the procedure would only have a 60 to 70 percent rate of success. I then opted to have the tooth extracted. This infuriated them, for an extraction my insurance company would only pay 80$ but root canal 3,000 to the dentist and an additional out of pocket expense of 1,200. To make matters wore the decided to charge me an additional consultation fee as to not return my initial deposit. I chose to visit another dentist and pay out of pocket than to deal with people who have no integrity. please beware of Sage Dental Profit supercede patient needs and service. read more

Dr. Mario Laska is extremely skillful and considerate. The hygienist, Rada, has a standard of excellence. My overall oral health is improving by following his recommendations. Izi gave me suggestions concerning insurance and I was thinking, she was going beyond what is required to help a patient. When I called the insurance to make some changes, the agent was amazed that someone went to the effort of explaining something that will save me a great deal of money. I'm shocked reading these reviews because so many of the reviews are relatable. I have't had a dental maintenance in a while due to lack of coverage and I saw such positive reviews about the doctor I selected on ZocDoc so I decided to give it a try. When I walked into the establishment it was fairly empty so I anticipated a quick visit. Now, I'm not sure if the lady that did my x-ray was new in training but she just got straight to the point taking by x-rays no greetings, questions, or reassurance. The doctor that I chose nudged at maybe 2 teeth even though she was pleasant but no real concern or questions asked. Following my initial exam I was hit with almost $7,000 worth of services. One of them being clear correct which in my opinion I felt they pushed the most. I opted for two of the other services because it something I agreed I could benefit from. Before I even went in for my services I called and asked as many questions I need to, the day of I said I wanted to discuss my payment options for the clear correct but Instead of answering my concerns my credit card was charged a total of $1700 and I got the sense of annoyance from the office e manager after I expressed to her for the umtenth time that I just wanted to discuss my options. Keep in mind she never told me she was charging my card even pushed for a credit increase. When I asked her to refund my card I was made to feel that It wasn't an option and basically I would be stuck paying off $6000 I never asked for. She called her supervisor and walked away and I could hear her saying that "I wanted to get the clear correct and changed my mind." I was still having a service done that day Which I went into it feeling extremely uneasy do to the interaction that took place prior. They attempted to have me pay before which I was absolutely was not going to do. The hygienist was really good and pleasant. She made me feel relaxed and explained things to me, If I return I would 100% request to be with her. Overall, for my first time using this office they seemed to be more concerned with the cost and payment then they cared if I felt safe and cared for. I had a HORRIBLE experience at Sage, and I normally don't write reviews but in hopes of saving someone else from the same issue I am. I scheduled with Sage because i had my wisdom teeth pulled from them a few years prior, so I decided to schedule an exam/cleaning with them. I did have a cleaning a few months prior to coming here which made my experience 100xs worse. I came to my appointment 10-15 min early because I knew I'd have to fill out paperwork. No paperwork was given to me. I waited in the waiting room for about 30-40 min. And then an additional hour in the back leaving my appointment to 2 hours long. When I called to schedule they told me since I wouldn't be able to have my cleaning done same day I'd be out in an hour. So already was irritated. Then I get to the back I'm put to sit in the chair for my exam and I'm left there for 30ish minutes while all the assistants are just having a whole conversation in the middle of the office in the back. No one came to be for like 20 min. Then finally they come to take my x rays. Then the dr comes in not very welcoming at all proceeds to go over my x rays and tell me I have 3 cavities which was fine. But then tells me I'm in beginning stages of gum disease... needless to say she didn't even measure my gums this was off an x ray. I'm literally 30 years old and just had a cleaning a few months prior and now according to her I have gum disease . So she tells me I have to have a deep cleaning and come back more often for Cleanings. So I go to check out and they tell me my insurance doesn't fully cover a deep cleaning that it was gonna be around $300 for the deep cleaning. So I left without scheduling. I decided to go to another dentist for a second opinion. Turns out I DO NOT have gum disease, the dentist was completely shocked when I told her this as well as I had only ONE CAVITY NOT 3 and which i didn't even need to be numbed for it was so small. So not only did Sage lie to me about gum disease, they lied about my cavities so what exactly where you gonna fix in my mouth????? They only want your money and they will fake fix , or fix teeth that don't need to be fixed!!!! This office is such a scam. I hope no one goes here. They will false diagnose you just to get your money. STAY AWAY FROM HERE. You need to be shut down for malpractice!! read more

Summary: Ok for cleanings but don't expect great service. Also beware of the cancellation policy. Service: Below average. I called to get directions and was told my appointment was cancelled but I could should up to reschedule. I showed up at 3 for my 3pm appointment but was told my appointment was actually at 2:50 and it was cancelled because I did not confirm. They have a 24hr confirmation/cancellation policy meaning, if you don't confirm they will cancel. Since they sent 3 texts to confirm, I suggested they send a text with that warning "if you do not confirm we will cancel your appointment". Simple solution. Cleanings: Good. I was scheduled to see Jonathan. He did my cleaning my first and only time here and he was gentle and had good bedside manner. Dental work: Get a second opinion. On my first visit I was told I needed a root canal and I scheduled it. However I started using a sensitivity toothpaste and the pain went away so I cancelled that. My experience the last 3 years with ortho and with dr. kim stapelton was pure hell! She and her staff would laugh in my face whenever I voiced concerns about my treatment and told me everything was in my head and I was just overreacting. But then, Dr. Scott Spencer came along in the last 2 months and turned everything around! He listened to my concerns and it seems like the old circus for a staff that was there before was gone my last visit earlier today. Martine worked on redoing my attachments for my new sets of trays and told me some things dr. stapelton NEVER told me about how to properly care for my trays. (For example, the whole time I was using toothpaste to scrub my aligners 3 times a day and stapelton used to have the nerve to ask me if I clean them, as if I'm some sort of filthy human being. Martine told me today that I am supposed to use a little dish soap or white vinegar since toothpaste is abrasive and can scratch, which can create crevices for bacteria to fester). Martine is thorough and so knowlegeable! I also got an unexpected visit from Alexis who cracked me up when I was feeling anxious with her awesome sense of humor! These two women need to be permanently placed at this Plantation location because they and Dr. Spencer are fantastic! I actually walked out of the office smiling for the first time in the 3 years this has been dragging on and my bite also feels amazing! I can finally chew my food comfortably for the first time in 3 years! I have a new confidence in the remaining treatment and feel like this time I will get the results I waited for for so long! read more

Horrendous. Used their service to text to make an appointment. I said I just wanted a cleaning. I was offered 11am the following Tuesday. Since it was over text I responded an hour later and said okay. I was told 11am was full now but was offered 1pm. I said okay. I was then sent a half hour's worth of forms to fill out, more than I've ever seen in my life for a dental office. Set aside time for that no joke. And even once I completed them I got an email saying I completed them but then kept getting emails that I had forms to fill out! There's literally 30 emails from Sage Dental in my email the past week. And when I click to fill out the forms from any of these it says they're completed. Day of my appointment I get an email at 9am saying it's confirming my 11am appointment. The heck? I call. Receptionist doesn't believe that it was scheduled for 1pm. Just tells me that's their lunch break. So I say okay I'll do 11am. I also mention that I don't want X-rays, just the cleaning, since I know new dental offices always try to do that with new patients but I'm moving in a couple months and just had them done a few months ago at another dental office. The receptionist says okay. I rush to get there. Then -- and this is great -- I'm told that my appointment is for an exam only and that the notes on my appointment say that I was told that a same-day cleaning was preferred but not guaranteed. What in the holy heck?! That's literally the only thing I wanted - a cleaning. I'm going out of state in a few months and just wanted a cleaning before I moved, and no one making the appointment for me over text ever told me anything about this exam-only policy -- which by the way I've never had an issue getting a cleaning with a new dental office my first day as a patient. My teeth are great so I just come in for cleanings and any exam is a few seconds at the end as part of it. I left straight away. I'm not hanging around for an "exam" without a cleaning when the cleaning is all I wanted. I'm figuring out from looking at other reviews that this place makes money by "examining" new patients then telling them about all the expensive services they need. My BCBS federal employee plan listed this place as the only one nearby where I'm covered so I guess I'm going without a cleaning til I move out of state and switch insurers in a few months. I never write reviews but this place takes the cake. They aren't even apologetic for how badly their "call center" screws up making these appointments. Go elsewhere. read more

I moved to Florida recently and was recommended to try out Sage Dental of Plantation. I have a history of teeth issues and lots of cavities, so I was not surprised by a report of more issues when I visited Sage for the first time. I needed a ton of work done, and I was really stressed about getting everything done as I was in the middle preparing for my grad school boards and beginning my first job. The office staff worked with my schedule beautifully to fit in all of my necessary appointments so that I could get my teeth fixed up before beginning my new job. They saw me nearly everyday for 2 weeks, and I rarely had to wait longer than 5 minutes before being taken back. Additionally, they worked with me financially so that I could afford all the work I needed done. Money is stressful, and they helped me to find a solution that worked for my situation. I am now going through the process of Invisalign through Sage Dental of Plantation, and the office continues to work with my schedule as I have to go in every 6 weeks for checkups. Dr. Mario Laska is the absolute best--very personable and truly cares about his patients. Teeth work is never fun, but I'm grateful for an enjoyable experience in the office each time I visit (which is actually pretty often...). I definitely recommend! read more

They LOVE to sell deep cleanings and scaling! Overall I agree with other reviewers, it seems like they are going out of their way to perform procedures and charges that are unnecessary. They tell you about how your gums have deep pockets and need the deep cleaning and then you will have to be on a perio deep cleaning schedule every three months!!! I have always gone to the dentist regularly and have never been told that I need this more expensive, more frequent cleaning that insurance does not cover! And their is nothing deep or special about the cleaning! Then they charge you for some special rinse they claim you need. I went to this office July 2018 and at 19 years old was told that I was at high risk for gingivitis and needed a deep cleaning desperately and possible additional procedures.Which I found odd because I take very good care of my teeth. They refused to do a cleaning without an exam or x-rays. I feel very disrespected it should be my right to decline. If you're even considering going to Sage Dental of Plantation, please read my story. I usually do not bad mouth practices, but they are refusing to return my calls. On March 23, 2021, my daughter and I went there for our FREE checkup which included x-rays and we had won an electric toothbrush. My daughter had a simple cleaning. I got a check-up and a long list of over 3,000 dollars worth of things that needed to be done. I decided to go for a second opinion and sure enough they were lying to me. I didn't even need 1/4 of what they were telling me. I paid in full for their dental coverage for the year for both of us and have had no work done. Gentle Dental reminded me of Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery. I was lured in with enticing ads. Then they immediately said that every service that I was told would be performed at a reasonable rate would cost $2,300 more. They then tried to get me to immediately sign an agreement, stating that I'd spend $26,000 on services at their establishment. I went for a 2nd & 3rd opinion... Yes, I need dental work. Wow! I have read reviews for this new sage dental as I was looking for a new dentist. I thought it could be new owners? However, i had a similar experience with this office when it was gentle dental. Lots of scare tactics saying how my gums were bad for my age and needed lots of work. I didn't think they were so bad considering I floss daily and not even any bleeding. I felt propaganda to scare me so I got a second opinion. As I suspected, my gums were not as terrible as gentle dental claimed. I left them when they tried to tell me my 13 year old needed many deep cleanings because his mouth was "terrible". Different dentist said he was fine. Ugh! I see nothing has changed...important to mention i have not been to this office since the name change but I think I will pass! if I do find a dentist to recommend I will certainly post a review... good luck to all those on the hunt! read more

I concur with the rest of the complaints! This place sucks and is filled with liars and thieves! I got my wisdom teeth removed here and was given a FAKE quote in which I paid my half after insurance entirely and then when I went for a cleaning they said I still owed over $100, because THEY were wrong and didn't submit to my insurance before the procedure and didn't read my policy right. I told them to have the manager call me and never heard from them still. I have decided I want braces and the consolation was a JOKKEEE!! The "manager" was all sweaty and disgusting, barely capable of doing his job with out the doctor walking him through it first of all, very unprofessional! Then the work they suggested and the quote was totally insane! They have a crappy old system and wanna charge way to much and leave them on way too long, and probably lie about other bunch of fees again if I was dumb enough to fall for them again. Dentist was very pleasant & probably a good dentist BUT the time in between her leaving me & seeing other patients was ridiculous. I had 2 appointments to replace a bridge. Each appointment was 3 hours in which 1/2 the time she spent with her other patients and it wasn't like she was waiting for my novocaine to kick in. She must of seen at least 4-5 patients as I sat there for each appointment. Scheduling is awful. I told the office manager I wouldn't be back. read more

I don't normally write reviews but I went here based upon recommendations by a co-worker. I should have read reviews first and talked to other co-workers first.. here is my result. Went in for initial exam - They took Xrays - No issue here, but I did wait in the waiting room about 20 minutes after my appointment time. Was told I'd need a deep cleaning (Scaling, etc..) and that they'd work up a treatment plan. Also I told them about a tooth that was giving me an issue and they found fractures in the filling. Recommended that I replace it.. again a treatment plan would follow. 2nd visit to treat a tooth that was causing issues - Had to remind them to see a treatment plan, which did NOT have dentistry codes on it until AFTER I asked again before I left. Ended up needing a crown (no root canal) and I currently have a temp in place while the other is in the lab. I noticed that they overcharged me and did not follow the insurance fee schedule. When brought to their attention they are going to 'look into it'. (Still pending). 6 days after temp crown was put in, it fell out. Told to get some Polident or other denture adhesive and I can put it in myself until I return for my cleaning the next day. When I asked about my cleaning treatment plan, they gave me the codes over the phone.. all four quadrants would cost me $560 minimum, possibly more once they got in there!! I found the cause of the inflated price in two areas: 1) Code 4921 which they charge 25/quadrant, which is an optional irrigation of some medication. Optional.. and when I asked about it they said if I did the entire mouth at once they'd reduce the price by half. ($50 instead of $100). 2) Code 4381, aka Arestin. This is an injectable antibiotic. It is NOT covered under dental insurance, and the dentist charges $65 per tooth. (I contacted the suppliers of Arestin and they told me the cash price is $57 per dosage/tooth). They also said it WAS covered under medical insurance with the plan I have... however the dentist is NOT EQUIPPED to process medical insurance and so while it should only cost me $50 for my entire treatment, they want $65/tooth! I spoke to some co-workers who were also overcharged, and my own girlfriend had a treatment plan to redo all the work she had done 2 years ago, because they said "It looks suspicious on an Xray". When she asked to have her records transferred her so they could see the old work that was performed, they said it wouldn't matter, they want to tear out the crown and replace it anyway. To the tune of over $1400. Overall I agree with other reviewers, it seems like they are going out of their way to perform procedures and charges that are unnecessary. The only positive thing I can say was the dentist I was given the first time, Dr. Luis Guerrero was great. He didn't seem to inflate anything and the work he did so far seems fine, my tooth never felt better. (His new assistant put the temp crown in that fell out). Sadly the billing department and tactics by the front office will cause me to switch dentists as soon as I'm able. read more

I DO NOT RECCOMEND GOING HERE!. Dr. Darojat was great and this review is not about her or her quality of care. I came today for a consultation and repeat of xrays as a second opinion. I scheduled the appointment after speaking with a receptionist about the fact that I have very limited time ( I work full time and go to school full time) and my only true day off is sundays which no one is open on. So I took off work and had the appointment set for today. I have been to a dentist before and I know I have 3 fillings/caps that are old (from the 90s) and are cracked, therefore they need to be taken off/replaced with new crowns. The previous dentist had also mentioned I might need a root canal but that she couldnt see past the silver cap. She said that the dentist would do an exam and if she could remove or repair the cap/filling she would but if it is too extensive she would send me to the oral surgeon. The receptionist said that they have one that comes into their office but only on certain days. I again expressed my concern over my limited schedule so she recommended today that way if there was a chance I could possibly be seen today by the surgeon. So yesterday I downloaded all of the new patient forms, filled them out and emailed them along with my previous xrays to an email that was provided by the staff at the front desk, this email was a personal work email and not an office email. I had all the paperwork sent and ready before they opened this morning. I arrive to the office and follow the covid-19 procedures involved with check in. While waiting in my car I decided to ensure that my documents and previous xrays were uploaded so the doctor would be prepared for my visit. They told me they dont have anything, and that I need to fill out the new patient forms. I provided the email I was told to email it to and the lady put me on hold. After waiting a long time I hung up and decided to just go in and do this in person. When I got in they asked the receptionist to check her email and low and behold it was there. Then they told me it was only xrays, without looking up from the covid paper i was signing I told them to scroll down......agian there were my new patient forms all filled out. All they had to do was look and not man look (no offense to men its just a saying). This was flag 1! After getting into my appointment finally, I was asked why I was there. I again told them for an exam, xrays and second opinion. My xrays were performed, where mind you the bite wing xrays were painful as the plastic was cutting the area below my tounge, i was tasting blood the entire time (never happened before). The Doctor came after, she was great, very attentive, explained things well though its hard to remember as I have a lot of dental issues. She went over the xrays with me and answered all my questions, I thought I understood. She left me saying the front staff would come by and explain costs. I waited in the dental chair for a front staff to come. A Rolonda (I believe) came in and seemed confused as she was going over the estimate. I work in animal medicine and have to go over estimates all day and all night long, there is a selling aspect of going over estimates if the person presenting it doesnt understand it the customer is going to lose faith in the quality of the treatment. This girl seemed like she had never been in a dentist office before, she was stumbling over her words, didnt know which charge was for what and didnt know the process of how the procedures were done (timeline wise). Everything the doctor had told me completley got devalued when that estimate was presented. At the end of it I was so confused I asked for the total like (unrealistically) if I had done everything right then what would I be swiping by debit card for? She told me $11,000!!!!!!!!! I think I may have fainted at that number and dont remember it (sarcasm). I told her why my insurance gave me a booklet that had prices showing wayyyyyy lower than what she is giving me. She looked me dead in the eye and said you have insurance? I almost lost it right then and there. They found my new patient forms and didnt even look at them......my insurance info and group number was right on those forms!!!! She said oh well I will need to link your insurance and then I can email you a treatment plan. I said AGAIN, that i have scheduling issues and wanted to get as much done today as I can. She said she would go and link it now. RED FLAG 2 After waiting about 10 min in the chair, fuming at this point. I tore off my bib and walked to the front desk. She told me I needed to call my insurance and tell them I am seeing that dentist so they can get me the proper costs. ( I have had the same insurance for over a year and have never had to do that before) So I stepped outside still in view of the door and called. CROOKS AND THIEVES!!! Dr. Guerrero would not schedule my appointment unless I paid a $50 deposit. This was in August 2015. I called a few days later to cancel the appointment and requested a refund. They told me I had to wait until my insurance payment to clear before they could issue the refund. I called back 2 weeks later to see if the insurance had cleared, and I was told it had cleared and my balance on my account was -$50. I requested the refund, and I was told this came from the corporate office and should be received within 2 weeks time. I have been calling every 3 weeks since then, and I have still not received my refund. Update: I finally received my refund in November, more than 3 months after my initial request. read more
