Dogs are forced to run through pee and poop all day and I In The winter they don't shovel runs so pee promises with snow. Your dog will sit in a dirty run at some point I'd never leave my dog there. (If something happens to the dog like an injury) the owner will make sure she's not at fault even if she is. This kennel has nothing but problems kennel cough runs rampant here. And Allie and Zion both have mentioned to me that they take dogs without proper vaccinations. Especially in an emergency. There's other kennels that care for for your dog. Not this one. Sorry folks. This place treats the dogs HORRIBLY. I havent sent my dog here for about 6 months but my dog would refuse to go in there. Keep in mind she's fully trained and never does that. The new place that we go to, she jumps for joy to go into and I know why, she's in an open space with staff who care and she's well taken care of and loves it. I guarantee that this place has a bunch of cages that they stay in with barely any time to go to the bathroom and they are stuck in there for ages. I know someone else who sent there dogs here and the same thing happened. I beg of you, don't send your dogs here or I will make sure that dog is taken away for abuse. read more

Very disappointed and frustrated. I had a phone and in person visit at Sage Valley to view their facility. I clearly explained my dogs special needs and was told that there was no problem and that they have many dogs that board with them with the same needs. My dog is deaf and has had like 2 seizures more than a year apart. So very unlikely that she would have one while in their care. I booked my dog for a week and was relieved that I could go on vacation without worry. Now with only 2 months until our trip I received a call saying that they could not accept her due to her being blind and deaf. She is not blind but has low vision after a seizure that is highly unlikely which was clearly communicated with staff. Their staff must lack communication as we were written in and booked. Now I am left very stressed to find alternative accommodations for my very special pet. Do better Sage Valley. read more

We were happy enough the first couple years using this kennel while vacationing. But this year the staff was rude when I picked up the dogs - She asked me from down the hall who I'm picking up, did not make eye contact at all while she rang me up, offered me no comments at all about the dogs or how their week went - just gave me a price, ran my credit card, and said I'll be right back. I could hear the dogs coughing roughly as they were brought up, the staff said they were coughing from pulling so hard against the leashes, again from down the hall. No eye contact, speaking to me when she's not in the room. No thank you, no come again, no we appreciate your business. The dogs coughed badly the rest of the day and when I called Sage before taking them to the vet no one answered. I left a message asking them to call me back about the cough - were other dogs effected? How many days had my dogs been coughing? I just want as much info as possible when I speak to the vet. It's been two days and they have not called me back. The Vet confirmed my dogs contracted Kennel Cough. (Yes they were vaccinated.) And Sage Valley is no longer a business I trust my dogs to. read more

Longtime patron for boarding at Sage Valley and all our previous and current Cocker's loved staying there. Currently our longtime groomer has retired and we had to find another so we gave Sage Valley a call, and had a wonderful experience. They were able to get us on the schedule and we were pleased. Now our second grooming visit was just as OUTSTANDING and Duffy our Cocker never looked so good. I highly Recommend them. read more

I have boarded at Sage Valley several times without any significant issues. This all changed this past Saturday. Going on vacation, I booked my two pups for a weeks stay six weeks prior. This past Thursday I called Sage Valley to confirm my Sunday drop off and specifically asked if all paperwork was in order. I was placed on a brief hold and when the girl returned she said everything was in order for the dogs to arrive on Sunday. Saturday late afternoon rolls around and I notice I have a voice mail on my phone. Mind you, it is 4:00 pm on a SATURDAY and we leave early the next morning for a week. The message from Sage Valley says my dog's bordetella expired a few days previous and they would not be allowed to stay. I immediately returned with call and spoke with Katie who identified herself as the manager. I told her about the call I made on Thursday and she couldn't have been any less rude or empathic about the situation. I advised her my vet had already closed for the day and our vacation was no in doubt. As I again explained, I had called and confirmed and it was too late for updated shots her response took on a mocking tone and she said "None of this is my problem." Yes it is Katie. Your staff advised the shots were up to date. Her rudeness and failure to help find a solution was absolutely appalling. In the end my partner and I decided we could never entrust our boys at Sage Valley after the way we were treated. We would not subject them to Katie. The kicker was when we finally found a sitter and got to our destination Sage Valley called us around 5:00 pm Sunday evening asking where we were. Katie the manager didn't even have the courtesy to cancel our reservation for her co workers. Definitely done with Sage Valley and won't be back. read more

I used to love Sage Valley. Every time I dropped off my one dog, she was happy and I was always pleased. However, ever since we got our second dog (and it seems like they hired a batch of new people or something), our dogs don't seem to be taken care of as well. One time, our puppy came back with bad pink eye in both eyes... not sure how that was overlooked. When we picked our dogs up the most recent time, they said that they didn't know where one of our dogs was... WHAT?! He was "running around in the kennels"... But our other dog was still in the kennel. Very confused about what was going on. We will not be bringing our dogs back here anytime soon.Too bad.. they used to be wonderful. ***EDIT*** The owner reached out to me after this review. He explained that one dog had "gotten out" when the person went to get our dogs, so she brought that dog out then got the other dog. When I asked my husband, who picked up the dogs, he said that was not what happened. I'm not sure what actually happened, and will unlikely ever know. Despite all this, we had to bring our dogs back because there were no openings elsewhere for our spring break trip. Our dogs did seem ok this time, but we were working with a lady who has been there since we started going here. She's FANTASTIC. We are still searching for a new boarding place, though. read more

I do not like posting negative reviews but felt in this case it was necessary. I recently used Sage Valley Pet Center for the first time on 54th Avenue in Golden and was extremely disappointed after my pets' stay. My husband and I both met with the owner Laura whom I really liked and felt comfortable with as well as liking the facilities themselves. I later met Katie (the kennel manager) when I dropped my dogs off. I gave explicit instructions that during their scheduled grooming to be very careful with my beagle who has extremely soft nails and she may not need them cut and to be careful of her quick which will bleed easily. She advised me she would tell the groomer. As I was coming back into town to pick up the dogs, it was right before the first spring snow storm so I contacted them to see if any way possible to pick the dogs up outside of the normal hours of closing which is 4 pm (hours are reduced due to COVID but I was told the owners were on site and I would be able to arrive before 6 PM which is their pre-covid hours). Now I live at almost 9,000 ft so the amount of snow we got in the storm was much more than in town (12"+) so that was the only reason I asked for an exception otherwise I would not have. I called and spoke to Katie and asked if possible, to pick them up and Katie said she would ask and let me know. After not receiving a call back, I called a second time right before I was about to board my flight. Katie was very short and rude with me. She seemed to lack any empathy or interpersonal skills (she is not the person I would put with clients..especially a new client!). And look, I get it...its outside the COVID reduced pick-up time but still I was left with a bad feeling after hanging up the phone. The next morning, I called early to see if I could pick up my two dogs. I was asked what time did I want to come and I had to explain they had been scheduled for a grooming that morning (I didn't want to cancel and cost the groomer lost income), so if possible, they could still the service as long as early enough that I could get them before the snow got worse (otherwise, I would just come get them immediately). Again, the conversation was with Katie and she was short but she did get back to me within 30 minutes and say they would be groomed early and I could pick them up. When I arrived, my dogs seemed very eager to leave..moreso then I have ever seen them before at any other boarding facility (literally pulling to get out the door). Katie was short again and I felt like I was being pushed out the door myself with no chance to ask any questions about how they did, etc. I drove straight home. As soon as we got inside, I noticed my beagle's nails had been clipped down to the quick and she was bleeding all over my floors for at least 30-45 minutes (I had to sit with pressure and corn starch to get it to quit). I called the facility immediately to let Katie know and she was again, unsympathetic and I felt like just wanted to get me off the telephone. All she said was pretty much "umm sorry I will tell the groomer". Later that same day, I noticed my beagle's tail was bent in the middle and appeared to have a break where it never has had a bend in it (perhaps she lifted by her tail? I don't know for sure). I didn't bother calling back to complain as I felt like it wouldn't make a difference and honestly, really didn't want to speak with Katie. Now for additional background...my beagle was a rescue and had been abused and it's taken us literally several years to get her to relax around people. For the next 10+ days, she acted scared and cowered down when I came near her. I am not sure what happened (and I do understand things can happen) but I believe it is the facility's responsibility to let me know and ask for feedback after a dog's first stay (especially if they want repeat customers during this time of COVID when everyone complains about the negative impact to their business). I felt I needed to let others know that I do not feel comfortable leaving my fur babies with this facility read more

We LOVE Sage Valley! One of our pups is very timid and isn't comfortable around people she doesn't know. She does so well with the staff at Sage Valley! Our pups come home after being boarded happy, clean, and TIRED (love the extra play time option)!!! We've recommended Sage Valley to a few of our friends. They too have had great experiences! The staff is amazing, the rates/prices are incredible, and the facility is well kept. We will never board our pups anywhere else!! read more

My friend recommended this place after a bad experience with Rover.com. Took a tour, everyone was super nice, everything is clean, I felt comfortable that my dog would be well taken care of. I have a dog-aggressive rescue mutt and it was nearly impossible to find a boarding option that doesn't mix all of the dogs for playtime. I was so embarrassed calling places to find out if they offered individual playtime and would keep dogs separate (felt like a bad mother...). Thankfully Sage Valley is close to my house and when I called the first time a couple of years ago, the owner was very friendly and understanding when I explained the situation. My husband and I have left our pup several times for up to 10 days and she's always happy and healthy when we pick her up. No boarding experience will be 100% stress free for an animal, but we have no complaints after almost 3 years. I grew up with dogs and my family was always bouncing among boarders (including well-known commercial operations) because one dog would come home sick or obviously stressed or something else would clearly be wrong. So I feel I know what to look for. My dog does get nervous when we drop her off but, as soon as she sees Katie, she's perks up and doesn't resist at all. Rates are very reasonable and I appreciate that each dog gets an indoor/outdoor run and that you can purchase additional, individual play times (which we do). I can't comment on grooming but I give them two thumbs up for boarding. read more

I am pretty picky with boarding my English Bulldog, but this place has been great. They have individual kennels (floor to ceiling rooms, with limited outdoor access) and offer one-on-one playtime for only $7 additional per day. My dog always comes back smelling good and exhausted (both good signs) - and she wags her tail excitedly every time we take her there. I have never had a problem with not being notified of needed vaccines; however, I would check with your vet prior to boarding with them to make sure everything is up to date. Will definitely return - and think this is the best value in boarding in the Denver area. read more

We've been bringing our special dog to Sage Valley Pet Center for about 2 years and we couldn't be happier. Our special dog doesn't always get along with other dogs and he nips people's feet which is why the individual indoor/outdoor kennels work so well. In addition to the well kept facility, the staff is spectacular. Katie always responds quickly when confirming email reservations and always has a smile on her face when we drop off or pick up. All other staff is kind and very gentle with our dog. Pricing is fair even with a few medications and twice daily play times. The location works well for us as we go up to the mountains a few times a year and only a slight detour to DIA. Our dog is always in great shape when we pick him up; wagging tail! We had our dog Lucky there for 10 days in April. When we picked him up the back of his tail was wrapped in some form of tape because they said he had "happy tail" and he injured it on something. We were told the wrap would come off by itself so we waited a week or so for it to fall off. After trying to unsuccessfully remove the wrap we took him to the vet who told us it looked like his tail had been crushed by a door or something, and the wrap was put on so tight it cut off circulation to his tail and would have to be amputated. Now our dog "lucky" has a 2 inch tail and when we spoke with the owner we were told they would do nothing and then hung up on us. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. read more

The staff is friendly and the tour was nice. The outdoor play areas are big and well kept. The dog kennels are however old and narrow. The narrow concrete walls and chain link setup doesn't seem ideal for bigger dogs. The boarding cost is by size. Interesting idea. read more

I have a Keeshond and his place is the first place I have found that does a great job grooming her. Kim is her name she only works weekend. Very reasonable rates for boarding. Brain and Kim were very professional and truly care for animals. Best place recommend to everyone that owns a dog. read more

I've brought my dog to the Sage Valley Pet Center on a handful of occasions. They are very friendly and accommodating - especially with late notice or on popular holidays. I am taking one start off because there have been a few instances of miscommunication where I was charged grooming fees that were not agreed upon. I have started paying when I drop my dog off and there haven't been any more unwanted charges. read more
