On this very special day, they were offering a two-hour class where we would be doing 108 sun salutations. I didn't know if I could do that many sun salutations in a row. I was a little bit anxious because I not only didn't know if I could do 108 sun salutations without injuring myself or fainting, but also, I had never been to Fire & Flow, so I didn't know the studio or anyone there. But yoga people are my people, so I went with it and trusted the universe. When I arrived, I was treated like a regular, and everyone was super friendly. I got a little tour of the studio and got to check out the amenities. It's a small but very clean and functional studio, and they offer coffee and tea complimentary, and juice and other drinks to purchase. There are water stations to fill up your water bottle, restrooms, cubbies and a community kitchen where you can hang out. Because this was a long and special class, there were a few different instructors leading, and each brought a different energy to the group. They played uplifting music during the sun salutations, which helped keep up the momentum. At the end of the class, we were brought cold towels that smelled like lavender to put over our eyes while we meditated, and it was honestly the best thing I've experienced all week. I loved my first class at Fire & Flow, and I want to come back to experience a more "regular" yoga class! This place is so welcoming and warm, and I can't wait to visit again.

Overall, I enjoyed the pace of the class, though I wish there had been just a few more stretches, or that some weren't held for so long. The space is nice, but I think for this class they could close the blinds, as it's pretty bright. I liked the instructor and would take her class again. I'll be returning soon for Reformer Pilates. Parking was easy and signage is pretty clear for where to go for which classes.

So, when I heard that Blossom Yoga + Pilates was opening a new studio in Westfield, I signed up for a class. They also have studios in Carmel and Zionsville. First, the space is beautiful! Lots of windows that let in natural light, with blond wooden floors, plants at the head of the room (including a lovely monstera), and all-gray props. It's not necessary that the blocks, straps and bolsters all color-coordinate, but I'm also not mad about it when they do. My yoga class was with Kristen, the owner of the studio. She was wonderful. I love when an instructor focuses on proper alignment, and gives tips for arranging your body, like "shift your pubic bone toward your belly." That's one of the ones I remembered, because she said it when we were in plank, and I felt like it really helped me stack everything properly. The class I took was flowy and gentle, for the most part. But there were a few times where my heart rate went up. Then, of course, there was a long savasana, which is my favorite part, always. One of my favorite yoga instructors, Gretchen, is teaching at Blossom in Westfield! So, if you're looking for an amazing yoga teacher, you should definitely take one of her classes. She has been transformative to my practice, and I look forward to taking one of her classes here in the future. Blossom Yoga + Pilates also offers pilates classes -- both mat pilates and reformer. Reformer classes are a separate fee, but if you purchase a yoga package, you get to take mat pilates, too. That's quite a deal!

The instructor, Beth, made me feel welcome and comfortable and she did a great job leading the class. The class itself (yin + deep relaxation) was so relaxing and exactly what I needed. I'll definitely be back for some other classes! For other first timers: Parking is available on the streets surrounding the studio and you can walk straight back to the studio space when you arrive (the front area is a retail space, not a check-in :)).

Such a sweet and personable lady with a passion for yoga. The studio is still under construction, so don't let the exterior turn away. Inside it's warm, inviting, and filled with light. The 1 hour Flow class with my instructor, Jacqueline, was a delight. She as such a soothing voice and really worked at a pace comfortable for the class. She was encouraging and her workout put a fire in my hips and other parts of my body that needed the kinks worked out. I'm so stoked to have another studio in Indy to call home. I was greeted for my Wednesday soul yoga session with a warm smile from Charlie (instructor / owner / magician / controller of energies ) lovely music and a peaceful sandalwood scent that took away all anxiety of trying yoga for the first time. I cannot wait to visit again and strengthen my mind and abilities to practice yoga. Oh but did I mention how great the music was... and smell and everything ... everything. Haven is a very inclusive space for those who may be uncertain of their welcome at most places. They also have a variety of events that are interesting and relevant for creating balance and control in ones life. Haven just may become my heaven of Indy.

Everyone wants hot yoga, apparently, but I just want to be present on my mat without thinking about the sweat running down my face and pooling in my sports bra. Union Yoga & Wellness offers non-heated vinyasa, which is why I visited. It was just what I needed after a long week. Yoga is a big part of my life. I practice every day! When I can, I love visiting new yoga studios to see what the vibe is elsewhere. This yoga studio is a bit of a drive from where I live, but I liked it a lot, and I could see myself visiting for an occasional class. They offer sound baths, too. I've recently discovered the restorative nature of sound baths, so I'll be back to check one out. The people who work here are so kind and welcoming. They explained how to check in, where to put my stuff and where the restroom and practice room is. (It's a small studio, so there's one main room to practice in.) It's a small studio, but it's extremely clean, has lots of natural light coming through the windows, and it smells heavenly in there. Orange blossoms, maybe? My instructor, Jessica, was great and led us through a beautiful flow. It was a good balance of restorative and challenging, and I left the class feeling amazing. I came for the non-heated vinyasa, but they also offer heated vinyasa flow classes, as well as gentle yoga, sculpt yoga and restorative yin yoga. They also have $10 community yoga classes (their regular drop-in price is $24). This is awesome and I'll definitely be back for one of these budget-friendly classes in the future.

The space is cozy, calming, and has such a warm community feel. I also really appreciate the variety of classes they offer -- especially the multiple evening options, which make it easy to fit yoga into my schedule. I'm so glad I found this studio and look forward to coming back regularly.
