I have had nothing but the worst experience with this place. They either NEVER answer their phone or they are rude AF and fight you over the phone and are rude AF in person too. I just got off the phone with a young female front desk employee, I requested my medication be sent to a different pharmacy because the pharmacy that my medication was sent to yesterday notified me that they are out and won't know when they will be stocked again and I've already waited over a month for my medication, so I asked the girl if she could have it sent to another pharmacy and she said NO it's your responsibility to know if they have the medication or not LMMFAO are you F*cking kidding me? How the F*ck am I supposed to know what they have in stock you F*cking idiot. You should be terminated immediately. The way you talk to a patient/customer is unacceptable. I believe patients should be educated on medication and maybe advise they call around before hand to see who has what and or who doesn't have what. Don't just be rude AF and tell someone NO you won't call and put in a new script, instead simply explain it, don't be a BAMF. The doctor is amazing the front end staff is sh*t. Do better. Dr. Mata has messed up on my meds yet again. New patients: if your meds are critical and cause major issues when you have to go without them, I recommend going with another provider. Dr Mata has lots of availability so it is tempting to schedule with her, but you will see why that is after just a couple appointments. read more

Dr Bisla is amazing!!! Unfortunately no one will answer the phone. This seems to be a common tread across all reviews of Sahara Behavioral Health. I've called 6 times over the past few days. When you press 1 for appointments, it just rings for about 2 minutes then goes silent. What kind of customer oriented business does this??? This practice has been going on for over 2 years. I wish Dr Bisla would leave these clowns and go somewhere where the office treats the patients with dignity and respect. I had signed up for TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) with this clinic. This is for people who are incredibly depressed and no medication has worked for them. I was given a payment schedule that was adhered to for the first 5 weeks of my 8 week program. Every day I went in I was charged exactly what they told me. I believe I was on the first day of my sixth week and the rude girl behind the counter tell me I owe $81.06, the previous few weeks it was $33.34 and was supposed to continue to go down like it had been. I say "it's supposed to be $33.34 and she says I have a balance from yesterday. But yesterday I had paid in full so how could I have gotten a "balance due" overnight? I was very upset because they decided to change things and not have a conversation with me. Don't these ignorant people realize that they are dealing with incredibly depressed people? I mean Oh My God people get a freaking clue. Instead of the girl getting her boss, she tells me the amount again and since I had driven 25 minutes over there, I thought I would just stay. I paid the amount mentioned it to the lady performing my procedure and got nothing there either. No, lets go talk to the billing office and see what happened. We don't want to upset you. They just plain out did not give a s*it. I told them that was my last day and they could not have cared less. I am ridiculously upset over how this medical office has handled everything. Then I get a call last week telling me I owe another $47.71 because of yet another previous balance, (I feel like at this point they are just making s*it up). My god these people don't know their head from their *as. They don't seem to communicate with each other either. Now a few more weeks have gone by so I call them to see if they have anything to say about it and they just blame it on my insurance and that the pricing they provided me was "just an estimate." You folks need to get a clue because you are dealing with severely depressed people and are going to be in a lot of trouble if someone hurts themselves because you couldn't communicate correctly or at all. Next, but not least, day one I was given a form to sign stating that I had spoken with a doctor who has answered all my questions. I told the girl that I did NOT speak with any doctor. She basically made me sign the document, which was a lie because I didn't see or speak with any doctor. These guys should honestly be put out of business because of the type of care their supposed to be providing (mental health) but they don't provide much of that support. And lastly, when you call there, nobody ever answers the damn*d phone. AGAIN, your dealing with people who have mental health issues, get a freaking clue!! Wow Dr. McKinney is really something else. I jumped through hoops over and over never failed any of my UA she's ever had me taken done everything I can and all she did was purposely micromanage me down and make me sick and without 2 medications that I'm dependent on physically and mentally ... I've been on them for years upon years acts, like she keeps giving me chances when She brought down my dose from 3 8 mg doses a day to 1 so I have no extra in case something happens, like last week when the pharmacy the only one I had in the area( I was working down a half hour from the border) had none in stock. I had to wait five extra days till they had them! I couldn't hardly function. It's a miracle I didn't lose my job, I couldn't sleep I could barely eat. I've lost 25 pounds easily since I started seeing her for last few months! she bumped me down to barely enough for me to even function at all. I'm borderline ready to lose a six figure job because she wants to play games like a little child Messing with peoples lives. I just can't believe it. She acts more like a possessive and controlling girlfriend than any kind of medical doctor at all big red flags just a total total mind blow. Like she's purposely trying to destroy my life that I'm barely barely just getting back! I have all the evidence I need and I'm going to the medical board. I've been on my medication 8 to 10 years and she has no right at all to do this to me because I was working so much. I missed appointments and I tried to call minutes after I missed the appointment and it takes 1-3 hours minimum For her practice to answer or call me back and if they don't happen to answer, which is 50-50, you're not able to leave any voicemails at all I even went to the emergency line and since it wasn't life-threatening, he wouldn't even take a message to let her know. I called 15 minutes after my appointment, which is a video visit. She's never returned my call with in 24 hours! Clearly on purpose, messing with my head, purposely trying to get me to I guess fail in life when the whole point of her choice of career is to help people like me succeed in life like I'm doing I've never been more stressed out or had worse experience the main reason of this review is anybody else has had the same issue Please reach out to me text or voicemail and I will return your call, but I am really busy and now really really sick once again thanks to her. I would give a big,T fat 0 if I could. SBH has the worst and the most questionable billing process. The cost for medicine maintenance is different nearly every time I have an appointment. Sometimes they say I have a credit. Then I get charged a large amount for the next appointment. When SBH sent me a summary of my account, every charge was the same. No correspondence with my record of payments on my Health Savings Account and/or my bank account. For a long time I was able to pay for my appointments the day after. Now I have to prepay (understandable). However, they call the day before while I am working. They close at 4:30. I should be paying only 40% of the cost now that I met my deductible. They have charged me 50% or more. I unspeakably frustrated. Communication is terrible -- phone holds can be 20 min or more. Often after being on hold for some time the call simply cuts off. They say there are not enough lines but is VOIP these days, there is no excuse. I was in real trouble regarding meds refills but couldn't get through. I finally sent a text (and had to set up fax services on line for this purpose alone). It is a bunch of BS - assume that is muuuch worse language. I really like Dr. Bisla. Gentle, patient and knowledgeable about psych meds. But I will be leaving. SBH is not a trustworthy company. Not run well. Today, May 22, 2024, I had to call again to make my follow up appointment. After trying two times and not having the call go through, it finally did. And as you can see in the picture I posted, I was on hold for 26 minutes. Just to make an appointment. I can't imagine what happens to people who have to see their provider right away. They NEED to fix this. It's a very common complaint as you can see from the other reviews. Their billing department has gotten worse and is unreliable and unprofessional. I pay my copay before every appointment and twice now I have gotten a bill of close to $100 because they had 'undercharged' me. In March I got a bill over email of $74 dollars. I was on vacation for three days so I had not gotten the email until I got home. In three days they sent me four emails about the payment, with exclamation marks all over the place. Very unprofessional. I don't need to be 'yelled' at via email for a payment that was 3 days overdue for which you emailed me four times, again because they had 'undercharged' me. Truthfully, if I didn't love my provider I'd find some other place. I keep hoping she'll leave so I can go with her. If you're not attached to a provider yet, please go elsewhere. read more

My provider is great but the office staff is very uneducated and rude. They hang up on you if they don't like your response, luckily that I am not someone who was having a crisis. Woman who schedules is very rude and not empathetic when at a mental health office that is the one thing that should be a very high priority. I have severe PTSD, depression and anxiety due to my military service. The VA sent me to the Surprise office for medication management. I had been waiting for about 3 months to see a MH provider as my VA psychiatrist had retired. My MH has been progressively declining over the last few months as I had been patiently waiting for this appointment. The last week or so my PTSD and depression symptoms had gotten markedly worse so I was very anxious to get seen. The Nurse Practitioner kept talking down to me. She was also criticizing how I was taking my medications and what I was taking them for. (I take all of my medication as directed). She also got mad because I could not remember the exact milligrams of one of my pills. Empathy, compassion or concern for my wellbeing were not evident so I walked out. I really don't like being treated like I'm stupid. I'm actually very well educated with a graduate degree and 36 years experience as an RN. I was also an Air Force Officer. This clinic/NP is NOT the right fit for me and I would not recommend it to any of my fellow veterans. I want to apologize to the American Taxpayers who paid for this visit! read more

My doctor fired me. Well, actually, he is not a real doctor, as he claims. He went to ASU for two years to get a doctorate; he is not a real doctor or MD, but they make you think he is. He is dangerous. So Tanis is not a doctor--trust me on this; I did major research. When I told him he wasn't a doctor, he went crazy, fired me, and told me to "F off!" I am now taking my complaint to the next level and will not stop until this dangerous man is removed from this business. Trust me! Contact me for more info; I can't post here. He also put me on all kinds of crazy meds and refused to help me get off them. My primary had to help me, and he couldn't believe it as well. If you aren't already crazy, this place will drive you there. For context, I was referred to Sahara by my former clinic after my previous provider took an extended sick leave and the clinic was unable to accomodate me as a patient because their other providers were full. I was being treated for your run of the mill depression, anxiety and ADHD. The issues I experienced were primarily with the front office staff and not the provider. From the jump, things at Sahara started out rough. Making the initial appointment wasn't easy. Calls went unanswered/unreturned and when I did get someone on the line, they were incredible rude and unhelpful. My provider was 20 minutes late to my first telehealth appointment, so I called the office to see what was up and they hung up on me. Mind you I was really calm, and thought I was the one who had messed something up. I just wanted some reassurance that I didn't do something to miss the appointment. They were also really disorganized and there wasn't any communication amongst them, so they dropped the ball quite a bit. I was mistaken for other patients MULTIPLE times. Once is an accident. Twice is negligence. I'd call to reschedule and they'd tell me I didn't have an appointment to begin with, even though the provider and I scheduled it together on a telehealth session. I was also told I missed appointments I never had and owed them a missed visit fee. Again, this happened multiple times. They also don't follow up/through with requests, or in any way make an effort to communicate with you. FMLA paperwork, a medication issue with the pharmacy, fees that were not disclosed, inconsistent pricing, the list goes on. You will be chasing people down to get help and then when you do, they get nasty with you. It's just unprofessional behavior. My provider, David Tanis, was the only reason I stayed as long as I did. He was nice, easy to work with and made an effort to understand where I was coming from. There were a few times I felt misunderstood, particularly around my progress in therapy. Sometimes he seemed kind of baffled at the time it was taking me to work through things and often questioned me, but he was never rude or demeaning about it. My only criticism is that he is consistently late to telehealth appointments by 10-45 minutes. While I understand that sometimes things come up, such as patient in crisis needing to be seen immediately, or delays beyond his control, it became disruptive. I had school, work and other appointments that I was late to because of this. Ultimately, my decision to seek care elsewhere was due to the front office staff. I couldn't take the unprofessionalism anymore. If you need mental health services, medication management or what have you, do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more

The provider I have is helpful. The star is for her. There are few people to refer other forms of care to. That seems odd. The main purpose of this establishment is to care for the behavior and mental health of people who trust their providers for that. It isn't just a convenience to have calls answered in a timely manner. This isn't a cattle call, or a take out line. They need yet enough staff to have the calls answers in 1-2 minutes. Exceptionally friendly staff. I had a not so great experience with the first place I did spravato at, and this place was way better. I think spravato is one of those medications where the setting really sets the tone for the experience and the first place I went to was like a broom closet for the treatment room, this place was great, they have windows and you can dim/brighten the lights, a fan, and extremely comfortable massage chairs like you would get at the sharper image. This made all the difference. These people really care and i hope that anyone who needs help with mental health reaches out to them read more

I am giving this facility 1 star due to a one, Ms. RoseKamal McKinney, who displayed considerable rudeness during our brief 10-MINUTE meeting (it might've been 8 minutes--I can't remember because of how fast she escorted me out of her office). She failed to inquire about my personal background or address the reasons behind my referral to her practice. Instead, she appeared fixated on questioning the prescriptions provided by my previous healthcare provider, hindering any meaningful discussion. I would strongly discourage anyone from seeking her services. Despite the practice's purported specialization in mental health, Ms. McKinney's focus seemed misaligned, as she is identified as an "addiction specialist," which was not aligned with my needs. Ms. McKinney remained oblivious to the trauma I've endured since childhood, as our discussion revolved solely around my previous medical history. Such encounters only serve to exacerbate the apprehension associated with seeking new medical care. Navigating the healthcare system is already daunting, and encounters like these only amplify the challenges. I dread the prospect of having to repeat this process with multiple providers until finding one willing to offer genuine assistance. Started at Sahara behavioral health (thunderbird&67th) many years ago. I had a pretty good experience. Not as impressed since covid. Feels a bit like new management. The doctors seem different like they need to follow a script. The front office dosnt answer the phone. Almost all the counselors quit. WTF read more

This place highlights the incestuous relationship between drug companies and providers in a way that I have never personally experienced. Pill mill is the most positive term I can think of to describe Sahara behavioral health. I have been to a handful of psychiatrists in my lifetime and never have I felt that my personal safety was disregarded for a paycheck more I did here. The provider I was assigned to, Baraba Kayiira, diagnosed me within 30 minutes via telehealth with a disorder that I have not only never been diagnosed with before, but showed almost zero symptoms of. She then put me on medication that my insurance could not cover(she was aware of this, and even told me my insurance would most likely deny her claim). I work in a clinic myself, and I could not in good conscience prescribe a patient a medication that would cost them $1,900 per month - especially if that patient had expressed concerns regarding finances. EVEN IF this medication made any sense to prescribe to me, this would be a glaring red flag. Combined with the fact that this medication made absolutely no sense for me, I felt that this was purely based off of financial incentive for Barbara. Being desperate for help, I tried the medication anyway. I received no benefit and only side effects, unsurprisingly. When I brought up these concerns with Barbara, she responded by repeating the exact same cycle, but now with two medications: one for the disorder that only she diagnosed me with(which she told me again I would most likely be being paying out-of-pocket for), and a second medication that I had already tried in the past and only had side effects with no benefit. I had made Barbara aware that I had already tried and received no benefit from this medication during our first appointment. I had to ask about this multiple times and was met with a description of the drug, as if that was my misunderstanding. Eventually, when I said "would this drug not working for me last year be an indication that it might not be a good idea for me to try again?" And she finally relented, saying something along the lines of "hmm, okay." I should add that Barbara is frequently late, and quite defensive about it, too. You can only access this place via phone call(they will tell you to go to their website during your wait time, which will redirect you to their phone number). I'm not sure if its just one receptionist for every single provider, but you should expect a 10-35 minute wait before speaking to someone. Multiple times, I have waited for 20 minutes, only to be hung up on. I have received blatantly incorrect instructions on how to pay my bill, access a telehealth appointment, and check for new statements, and then when I would point out that the instructions I reviewed made no sense, I would receive new, now correct instructions, complete with a snarky attitude. I even asked "just making sure I'm not crazy here, but the first thing you told me to do wasn't actually possible, right? Or did I do something wrong, maybe clicked on the wrong thing?" And received a snarky non-answer. For example, the receptionist told me, over the phone, that I needed to pay for my appointment prior to the appointment, or it would be automatically cancelled. I asked how to pay, and was told to pay through the website/patient portal(which looks like it hasn't been updated since 1999, not a huge deal, but worth mentioning). I went onto the patient portal, and looked for a place to view statements and/or pay bills. I ended up clicking on every single clickable word in an attempt to find this page. Worried that my appointment would be canceled, I called back. I was then told to just pay over the phone. I had been waiting 15+ minutes for both of these calls, and had been hung up on while waiting for the first one, so I was a little panicked at this point. I told her "I'm just a little worried, since the last person I spoke to told me that my appointment would be automatically canceled if I didn't pay, and then the instructions to pay weren't-" when I was cut off and told "Yeah that last person was me." Which is when I asked about her first instructions, and was finally told something along the lines of "yeah well maybe it isn't up on our end yet". Which I guess was just up to me to find out, and call to amend. Just little experiences like this all adding up to being mis-diagnosed, mis-medicated, and downright disregarded have honestly turned me away from psychiatry as a whole. You will receive subpar "care", be spoken down to, and made to wait for this treatment. If you express frustration(like any normal human being would) you will be considered "anxious presenting". Kind of an interesting way to treat people. I have never in my life considered contacting the Better Business Bureau, but I feel that someone needs to check in on this place. I've been going here since February of 2021 and I honestly love my psychiatrist. I see so many bad reviews about the phone lines, and while I do agree with the wait times being unreasonable, I've never encountered them being rude or disrespectful. But I'm also never rude on the phones so maybe they give attitude to the people who are angry when they call in. I see Dr Sarbjit Singh and I've enjoyed how calm he is during each visit. He's very attentive and caring and I've already referred a few friends there- after warning them of the extreme wait times on the phone. I use their app for faster service so I always recommend that to those who I refer. I see him for ADHD management and once I was established on the medication we have a visit every 3 months to check in. read more

Awful, AWFUL experience. I tried to create an appointment after switching my insurance. The receptionist not only got my insurance wrong, they included the wrong home address (although I quite literally spelled it out for them), didn't provide onboarding paperwork, and booked the wrong appointment type. I was notified only minutes before my initial appointment that I would need to reschedule because of their errors, then I was finally given onboarding paperwork. I rescheduled for the next day, that same day I received a call from a receptionist saying that I had to pay an extra $100 on top of the $114 I already paid for my copay because they finally got the insurance correct after I completed my onboarding paperwork. I paid the additional copay amount at the time I was requested to submit it. I waited 30 minutes for Roya to call me but she never did. I eventually called in to get in touch with my doctor and was on hold for over 30 minutes and on the phone for an hour total, right before they were about to close. I also asked the receptionist if I could get a 7-day refill on non controlled and very mild antidepressants to hold me over but they refused to ask the doctor. Not only am I going unmedicated, but they've forced me to go through so many unexplained hoops before even receiving care. Worst patient experience of my life.
