I should have taken that as a hint to leave but I ordered grape leaves anyways. They weren't horrible but they definitely were the worst I've ever had. I asked the owner/waiter what the white sauce was and he said it's yogurt. I asked what kind of yogurt it was cuz it tasted weird to me. He said someone makes it fresh. I asked if he was sure it hadn't spoiled. He got offended stormed off to the kitchen and brought out a container of yogurt and said, "we make it fresh it's my family ancient recipe". I felt like crying. I couldn't enjoy my meal at all. It was one of my worst experiences ever. Now I know why in the 15 years I've lived here this run down restaurant has never blossomed into more than it is. Someone with such horrible customer service should not have a restaurant and deal with customers. Guess they are too cheap to hire a waiter who knows how to treat customers.

A new Turkish place in Playa Del Carmen!…read more I saw this place when someone posted it on FB, and I knew I had to try it. Turkish food is some of my favorite, if not my favorite, in the world. The place is cute with upstairs and downstairs seating. We met Dennis who was super nice and welcoming. I knew not to expect too much, as once you've eaten food in the country of origin, it's hard to be authentic in a different county, just because of the logistics of trying to get the same ingredients. We ordered the dip appetizer and the grilled sampler platter for two. The appetizer was really good. They serve it with garlic bread instead of pita bread, I'm sure because of the difficulty of obtaining the naan. The eggplant was my favorite and the hummus was good. The yogurt dip was good, but a little sweeter than I am used to. The grilled sampler for 2 people could feed 3 or 4! The first thing I tried was the lamb chop. It was to die for!!!!! Then I sampled the 3 other meats and 2 types of chicken. Everything was tasty, but oh that lamb chop. I was very impressed that the chicken was not dry at all and in fact, super moist. The rice and veggies were good too. Then of course they follow up the meal with a Turkish coffee or a tea. I saw someone order the Turkish breakfast, so I will be back to try that next. Don't expect the exact same flavors as Turkey; however, for being in Mexico, I was extremely happy with the food and the service.

We started with the hummus and pita bread and the beef carpaccio. The hummus was really good and easily the standout appetizer. The beef carpaccio was okay, but it was kind of bland and didn't have a lot going on. For our entrees, I ordered the Pollo al Vino Tinto, which was a red wine chicken served over mashed potatoes. The chicken was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. My girlfriend ordered the Andalusian-style beef roast with creamy rice, and that was excellent as well. Both entrees were easily the highlight of the meal. The desserts were a different story. The baklava tasted more like a really hard churro than traditional baklava. We also tried the rum fritters and another dessert that was basically a cream puff sitting in a thin sauce. None of the desserts were bad, but they were definitely disappointing compared to the main courses. We sat on the patio, which had a mild ocean view, although it was mostly a palm tree frond view from where we were seated. The bigger issue was the service. It wasn't very busy, but it felt like we were forgotten at times. I think we only saw our server about three times during the entire meal. Despite the inconsistent service and underwhelming desserts, the excellent entrees and really good hummus made this a solid dinner and a good way to start the trip. I would eat here again.

Every bite of the Eggs Benedict was decadent. The eggs were perfectly poached, and I appreciated that they weren't drowning in hollandaise. The French Toast caught me by surprise because I was expecting it to be somewhat crunchy when, in actuality, it had a super soft and squishy texture that instantly melted in my mouth. The views, food, and service were all amazing. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!!
