Great food, friendly service and consistent Vietnamese food. The family is super nice and accomodating with great portion sizes!

I took a friend out for their birthday. We both love Vietnamese food, but had never been to this place before. I trusted the good Yelp! reviews. Kinda dead at 1:30 on a cold, Thursday afternoon. We had our pick of clean booths. We both ordered the same thing. Small wonton soup and #26a Saigon special: vermicelli bowl with pork, shrimp, meatballs and spring rolls. I drank jasmine tea. It certainly doesn't look like much on the outside. Little bit of a worn out look. But the restaurant inside is nice enough. Not a fine dining experience but quaint. The waitress serving us was very friendly, and quick to serve us. The menu has many options something for anyone. Soups, rice noodles, egg noodles, rice dishes, etc. Prices are still very good as compared to a lot of restaurants. Food was decent, but average. I would rate the experience as 3.5/5. I've had better but I've had a lot of worse experiences. That being said it could have been the selected dish I had, the black bean part of the sauce tasted a little blackened then I was expecting. Had green tea with the meal and then a Vietnamese iced coffee for dessert which was very nice. That all being said cause the price was fantastic I was going to rate this as 4. However the washroom has sticky floor, and leaky taps led me to then notice the carpets being quite dirty around the restaurant led me to a 3 again. read more

Just started a new job in Sherwood Park and the staff decided to order from here. Well I have been missing Doans lemongrass chicken and that caught my eye on the menu. Did not disappoint, large portion and fair price. So delicious, we had a colleague that had never eaten Vietnamese food, they enjoyed their meal immensely. Good sized spring rolls. Hoping we do an office order again soon. Might just have to come here sooner than later. read more

Really great, consistent Vietnamese food. The owners are friendly and prompt. The food is a good selection of typical dishes. This time we ordered quite a few things - spring rolls (good and crispy), pan fried lemon grass shrimp, green pepper & onions (my favourite dish there), beef with mushroom, onion & green pepper in Satay Sauce (good), chicken with onions, green pepper, carrot coconut milk and curry sauce (decent), pan fried mixed vegetables (excellent and fresh tasting), Singapore vermicelli stir fried with eggs, pork, shrimps & vegetables (great consistency of the noodles and very flavourful), pork chops with salty sweet sauce in hot pot (excellent flavour), with some rice and vermicelli noodles. Super great price for the amount and the quality you are getting. The dining room is really dated. It would be nice to see a remodel of the place and especially of the bathrooms. However don't let the décor set you off, try it. read more

I am a lover of good Saigon style food and this place is definitely the best in Edmonton. They offer a massive selection of dishes, and many can be made gluten free (which makes the dish CHEAPER!) and the portion sizes are definitely edequate for what you pay. They offer delivery through skip the dishes, so you can be ultimately lazy and get it delivered to your door, which I love for these cold nights. Make sure you try their tofu curry, even if you don't like tofu it will rock your world. read more

This review is based on the sate soup with chicken and nothing else. I ordered the sate soup with chicken and I knew we were in trouble as soon as I saw the smiley lady bring it to the table. It had that very bright shiny appearance of yellow chicken soup base. You know what I mean....cheap ingredients. Yuck I thought as it was plunked down on my table. It also had that glazed thickened look from uncooked cornstarch that had been used. You know what??? I'm not going to write any more. Not worth my time. It was horrible and let's just end this here. They should be embarrassed and ashamed as they put no effort into their cuisine. Garbage. read more

After reading the reviews I was expecting more. The place was empty at 6:00pm, not a good sign. The food was bland and plain. My soup had no broth even though it came with a spoon. The steak dish with rice was not worth the $15. The salad rolls were good though. Nice lady and she was very polite. But not enough to bring us back.. read more

We had the beef satay soup. I've never seen a beef satay soup like this before. The broth was thick and off coloured. Almost like they had used hot and sour soup and added rice noodles and added some Beef, green onion, bean sprouts 2 pieces of tomato. The soup was warm not hot at all. I read more

My wife, my parents and I traveled from Edmonton to Sherwood Park to eat a gluten-free meal of Chinese food. The restaurant is located off the main strip through town but is fairly easy to find. The decor was plain - tables and chairs in a fluorescent-lit room - a few pictures on the walls. The restaurant itself was clean but the washrooms leave a bit to be desired. As near as I could tell, only the two owners worked there. Hubby cooked and his wife served. Service was great. My wife ordered a beef pho, the rest of us ordered off the Chinese part of the menu. We had salad rolls, satay beef on rice noodles, pan fry shrimp, scallops in a black bean sauce and pan fried chicken with cashews. The salad rolls were slightly unusual, they were about 3/4 the size of other salad rolls that I have had and they were served with fish sauce, not peanut sauce. The order comes with 6 rolls though so, despite the smaller size, there is plenty on the plate. My wife's pho was fine. It came with all the expected ingredients (although my wife expected vegetables and there were none other than bean sprouts). With one exception, the food was very well cooked. The vegetables were crisp, the chicken and shrimp were cooked perfectly - neither overdone nor underdone. I was particularly impressed with the onions, they still had a pungency to them. I suspect all the vegetables are cooked fresh with each order. You should not expect much from their sauces, the Cuisine's strength is in the basic ingredients that make up each dish. For instance, the black been sauce was more of hint than a sauce. The only flaw were the rice noodles that came with the satay beef. They were soggy and greasy, I didn't find them appetizing at all. At the end of the meal they were the only thing left over. We had a $20 bottle of Kloster Liebfrauenberg with our meal. It was a good wine but only 10% alcohol. Probably why it was cheap. If you are a celiac the great thing about this restaurant is that it has a gluten-free menu. It is numbered just like the menu for the non-celiacs but it does not contain any items that have gluten. Most of the dishes turned out to be gluten-free so there is a wide selection to choose from. Saigon Cuisine is a wonderful family restaurant that does not aspire to be something it is not. And it's very celiac friendly. read more
