For appetizers the spring rolls and calamari are delicious. I'd also recommend the warm jasmine milk tea, a menu item I don't generally come across. The parking is a bit limited but there are spaces at an adjacent parking lot. I'm a tough critic on Vietnamese food so this review is for the non-locals visiting. Everything is absurdly expensive in my opinion and I can't say the price justifies the quality of what you get. My friend got pho and it tasted bland. My bun thit Nương also needed a lot more flavor overall. I wanted to like this place but it just wasn't it. I have been craving bahn mi a lot lately and really enjoy Yummy Bahn Mi in Cedar Rapids but am on the hunt for something in the corridor/North Liberty area that is closer. Glad we have this option! They were on the smaller size for a sandwich and are more expensive than the other place mentioned - 10.95 vs 9.50. I got the Pho Specialty (Pho Dac Biet)⁣ and Special Baguette (Banh Mi Dac Biet)⁣ I got this as takeout and they did not skimp on meat, noodles, or broth, which made it worth it even more! Had enough for leftovers and they had everything I'd want including bean sprouts, onion, lime, and more. The Banh Mi had perfect bread that was chewy and be warned that it's spicy but in the best way ⁣was only in the place briefly to pick up but nice and open space. Out first visit. The shrimp spring rolls were fantastic. My wife was talking about the peanut sauce hours later. The Pho Special was good, especially with dipping the meatballs in the housin/red pepper mix. Service was great! The place is very family friendly. read more

Greeted immediately and given a seat. Staff was very helpful. Had them leave the cilantro and jalapeño off my Bahn mi. Sandwich was delicious with just enough kick, special baguette. Pho was huge!!! Delicious. Family added the plate of jalapeños, basil, and chili oil as he likes his hot! Again - huge. Biggest bowl of pho I have ever seen. Prices were appropriate for the size and freshness of ingredients. Love the decor. Person who brought the food was sweet. Water was delicious- had limes in it. Iowa pho is my go to pho spot in Iowa City. They offer clean and flavorful broth with high-quality meats and fresh veggies/ herbs. Their pho is comparable to the ones I had in Seattle, NYC, California, and Huston. The owner and main waiter Thomas are always super nice, always patiently accommodating my special requests, as I am very particular about my pho. Some have complained about their prices, but with inflations, it would be hard for any restaurants to survive without raising their prices. I think they consistently deliver the quality that worth the price. Support local and give them a try! read more

Ugh I really wanted to like this place . Was visiting Iowa and wanted to try this place so got it to go. I got vegetarian pho and the tofu spring rolls but the it was extremely disappointing. The broth is just meh and the rest of the pho and veggies were bland. No flavor i couldn't eat it:( the spring rolls were decent but nothing special. I agree with another reviewer--there is a typo in the restaurant name!! This is a shame, because it will hamper it being found and enjoyed. My spouse and I have not had an opportunity to lunch together on a weekday at home all year, and so when out schedules overlapped enough to eke out a lunch, so long as it was in Coralville, I wanted it to be great, and this did not disappoint. We had the Special Bahn Mi (which is really a traditional Bahn mi)--it was reason enough to return! The bread was perfect, a balance between soft and crunchy, and the filling was spot on as well. We had the chicken with cashews, which we enjoyed, along with a Vietnamese coffee and egg rolls, both of which were what you would expect. We will definitely return, and hope you decide to give it a whirl. Everyone else was having pho, and seemed to like that as well. read more

Got the Vietnamese iced coffee and specialty pho. It was delicious and really fed my craving. Nothing is better than mom's homemade pho, but man this was a very close to it. The service was friendly and fast too. I later went back for dinner to get a banh mi and try their egg rolls to go. Finally a place in Iowa City/Coralville with a banh mi on their menu that has ham and pork roll. It's my favorite sandwich and they didn't disappoint. The pate and homemade Mayo was amazing. The baguette itself isn't a traditional Vietnamese baguette, but still good. The egg rolls was also very good. Very authentic Vietnamese egg rolls. It came with a sweet chili dipping sauce. I even tried their oolong jasmine milk tea. I even asked for it to be 75% sweet and they were accommodating. I was able to get my order within 10-15 min during dinner service. It's so refreshing when a Vietnamese restaurant is authentic with flavorful food that reminds me of moms cooking. read more

This was the most overpriced bowl of pho I have had, both in Iowa and probably the Midwest at-large. That said, it wasn't bad, but for the price ($20 for what I would say is a pretty average-sized bowl of pho dac biet, but sans some of the usual meats like tripe) this is probably not going on my regular rotation. I get the options for pho in the Iowa City area are very limited and rent prices are ridiculous too, but charging $20 for pho seems unsustainable. There was a decent amount of meat for the ones that were in the bowl. The broth was a little sweeter than what I usually like, but still not bad. The flavor was otherwise deep and not too greasy. We were also each brought a very meager amount of bean sprouts and basil, but at least these also seemed very fresh, even compared to other pho restaurants in the area. While the service was friendly, it was also a bit disorganized. We went during one of the first few weeks of opening, it wasn't crowded, but there was a steady flow of traffic. Our orders were taken quickly and everything on our order was correct, but the wait staff didn't seem to know which order went to which table as the food was coming out. I can maybe chalk it up to being a new restaurant, but hopefully they've found a better management system. Overall, it wasn't bad, but nothing stood out enough to make me want to go back. If you're craving pho and you don't feel like driving out to Cedar Rapids, it might be worth checking this place out. Just be prepared for the sticker shock. read more

The service here was really lacking, and the manager even put something from a dirty table on my table so he could clean that table. Super disrespectful in my opinion. The service was slow. I ordered a Thai tea and egg rolls as an appetizer. The egg rolls were EXTREMELY COLD and they came out super fast. They came out faster than my Thai tea so I know the egg rolls had just been sitting there for a while. My pho came out and was cold. It is not worth the $20 and there are not a lot of options. The vibe in the restaurant is not cozy or a good vibe. I'm super disappointed in this new establishment in Iowa City. I will never be back again. read more

I've eaten Vietnamese food in Chinatown, NYC, in Chicago, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Toronto, Boston, and in other major cities, and in almost every Vietnamese restaurant in Iowa City and Des Moines, and I was extremely disappointed in what was the weakest Pho broth I ever had. The Banh Mi Sandwich was mediocre (though I liked the bread itself; the inside was forgettable). I think people unaccustomed to Vietnamese food may think they are eating authentic Vietnamese and praise this food as yummy and genuine, but I can say from eating in over a hundred Vietnamese restaurants in major cities in the U.S. that this is NOT authentic Vietnamese cuisine. It is very Americanized. However, the ambiance is nice, so if you just want to grab some beers and eat some food to coat your gut so you can avoid a belly ache and drink more booze, then it's okay. I may try it one more time just to see if perhaps they suffered from opening month mishaps, but based on the tremendously weak broth that lacked any depth (and tasted like water with MSG added for alleged flavor) and based on the shockingly watery and tasteless so-called peanut sauce that accompanied an equally unimpressive set of shrimp rolls that were gummy and had just a couple of tiny shrimp each inside and were ultra-thin, based on all of this, I'm not too sure if I would once more spend the high price charged for such mediocre Americanized Vietnamese food. Though other Vietnamese restaurants in town are not much better, we have experienced better-tasting Pho and paid less money for the same amount of food. read more

I love Vietnamese food and seek it out in my travels. I've eaten three meals at Iowa Pho. The Pho Dac Biet is fabulous pho. The broth tastes fresh and balanced. The meat ingredients are of the highest quality. Highly recommended. The grilled pork with egg roll and rice vermicelli is one of my "go to" dishes at a Vietnamese restaurant. The pork is very high quality and has a slight smoky grilled flavor. Very good. And the Ban Mi Dac Biet. It's been many years since we've had a good ban mi option in this area. I loved this one. My only complaint is that the baguette doesn't have a hard enough crust. If they found a source for a better baguette (maybe Valerie's French Cooking or The Local Crumb?) this would be the best ban mi. As it is, the quality and the taste of what's in the ban mi are terrific. Please try this restaurant and return often. I want it to be around for a long time! read more

Had an excellent lunch at Iowa Pho today, and am eager to go back. Our waiter was very friendly and welcoming, staff were attentive (making sure we had utensils & pho additions), space is bright, clean and welcoming. I got the specialty pho and husband got the tenderloin pho. The broth was superb---clear, not greasy at all, with a deep rich taste. As is often the case, it was easily 2 servings in each bowl, so we have a lovely leftover meal to look forward to. Price is a little high, but honestly, I'm happy to pay that for well-made broth and fresh veggies (I hate when the herbs and sprouts are wilted and old-ish---absolutely not the case here) and to sustain another Vietnamese place. We also had the shrimp spring rolls which were fresh, well-balance, and the sauce was great (neither too sweet, nor too much like just melted PB). Can't wait to go back and try the bahn mi and the noodle dishes. Will definitely be back. read more
