Saigonz was our first meal after landing in Auckland because we needed something quick and close by. Plus, everything else was closed. Maybe we should have lowered our standards as a result, but the more honest review of Saigonz is that it's a simple, forgettable Vietnamese takeaway option for those who need food (as opposed to good food). Columbus Coffee Supa Centa Manukau is ok. Not my top pick for cafes in Manukau and if possible would give them 3.5 stars. It is a place I resort to when Kreem is closed. Staff are not overly friendly. There seems to be high staff turnover like you would have at McD's. Normally get the eggs on toast. Long Black is 3.50. Eggs on toast $10.00. Set in the Middle of the Supa Centa parking lot. Perfect example of urban environment that has been evolving in South Auckland. Not enough thought given to people and how they need to move and breathe. Not enough green space. Familiar ogre of commercialisation is everywhere to be found in South Auckland. Despite this, there is a humanity that weaves in and out of the concrete, tin, glass and steel of this environment. read more

I usually hit Saigonz on the way home from my weekly supermarket trip as it is on the way (okay so I go a little out of my way, but totally worth it!). This place produces proper scrumptious Vietnamese food that is healthy and light on the wallet. Unlike Chinese and other Asian delicacies, where the grease factor is pretty high, you can taste the freshness that comes through the dishes that are produced. While there are not that many differing options on the menu, there is still something to please everyone. I can't get enough of the delicate rice paper rolls,filled with chicken and lots of other yummy stuff and the lemongrass chicken curry is pretty damn delish too. read more

Saigonz is a great little Vietnamese restaurant located, if not slightly overshadowed by the GE building on Beach Road. Bright green it is hard to miss and for some reason it reminds me of grasshoppers. Vietnamese cuisine has not become mainstream like Indian, Chinese or even Thai in New Zealand but if you are wanting to experience the taste of Vietnam, Saigonz would be the place to do it. A small family owned business they have done both a good job of the menu and of the their little Vietnamese hut of a restaurant. The menu is fantastic for both meat and non meat eaters. The food here is incredibly fresh and full of flavour and you cannot fault the service, plus your order is ready in around 6 minutes. As a vegan I was impressed by the vegan menu options they had,in particular the rice paper spring rolls and tofu salads. Saigonz also provides a more healthy alternative to take out food, much better than the deep fried, coconut cream filled dishes from other regions of the world. read more

Vietnamese food is slowly making a mark in Auckland, as of recently you can see a few restaurants and cafes opening up around the city and suburbs which is fantastic. If you're into anything South East Asian you will know that the food from Vietnam is alive with flavor, and vitality. Saigonz is located very close to my old workplace, and so I would pop in from time to time, for a few of their signature dishes. The eatery is run and worked by a lovely Vietnamese family, and I love the sense of community that you feel with them, after a visit or two you will be remembered. The Pho soup is one of my ultimate must eats if you're trying them for the first time, it's a beautiful broth with spring onions and coriander and I always get rare beef. Another fave is the Lemongrass Chicken with Vermicelli, has all the tastes that you can imagine from a traditional plate of Vietnamese food. Quite a bit of seating if you're dining in or if it's a sunny warm day nice outdoor seats looking out at the busy city. Make sure you get some spring rolls to go, they are delicious! read more

So just check first before you order if this fast-casual restaurant can accommodate without curry if that's what you want. Prices are reasonable and there is outdoor seating. People often walk past this place and don't even know it's there or even how good the food is! If you're a fan of Vietnamese food then you MUST go here! I've had a lot of Vietnamese food over the years, but this place really does something amazing with their food. It's always so fresh and clean cut with flavours that just pop in your mouth. You can either eat in their funky restaurant or take out and back to the office you go! Situated right in the middle of town it's easily over-looked. It's amazing what this little space produces. What is also to love about this place is that it's a family owned business and they also have a food truck they take to events in Auckland. So look out for it and get in and try this piece of heaven in Auckland. read more

I occasionally go to Saigonz for a quick meal as it's located near my apartment. Their menu is very simple and essential. You can have warm noodle soup or cold spring rolls or stomach filling lemon grass chicken on rice. I found the food is reasonably good but is too simple and price is slightly higher than you would expect from a restaurant supplying plastic utensils for dine in customers. read more
