Great day out sailing on the Alice E from SWH . We so enjoyed our time with Captain Chris and all the history of the friendship sloop. Sailing around the islands on MDI was amazing . We saw dolphins , a baby seal , and a loon. The wind for our afternoon sail was perfect . We highly recommend Sail Acadia, our second trip and was just as amazing and wonderful as our first sail . It's great because it only has a capacity for 6 passengers so it's a more personal and intimate day on the water . We also loved seeing the Bear Island Lighthouse . read more

Took a sunset tour on a lobster boat that was a ton of fun including seeing seals, ospreys, lobsters, crabs, eider ducks, guillemots, and generally enjoying the scenes and even the company. I honestly wasn't expecting that much, but the tour over-delivered in terms of having a guide with some expertise to answer questions, hearing about the local area, seeing lots of wildlife and generally having a great time. You can also bring your own beer and wine, which was a nice touch. read more

This nature cruise was fantastic! Our family of six absolutely loved it. Our guide was so knowledgeable, being a local lobster fisherman herself, and we learned so much about the trade. Everyone on the boat got to hold their own lobster as we learned about its anatomy and fun facts. Then we threw them back into the ocean after naming them. It was a blast. We saw harbor seals as well which was awesome! read more

We booked an excursion with Sail Acadia on the Friendship Sloop Linda for a 3 hour trip. We chose a morning sailing and had a family of six (the max) on the boat. We had someone who was prone to sea sickness with us and they had zero issues. Our Captain, Ben, was incredible. Kind, knowledgeable, curios (about our family), and attentive (to our anxious son). He was very easy to connect with and we felt instantly comfortable during our voyage. Our entire group agreed that this was the highlight of our week in Maine. Highly recommend booking a sailing if you have six or fewer in your group. read more

We had a wonderful experience on the sunset sail aboard the Alice E. Captain John was funny, kind, and very knowledgeable. We chose this specific trip because most other charters have 20+ people on them this sail had a max of 6 (5 on our specific trip). It was beautiful weather, calm water, and an incredibly relaxing and wonderful experience. Absolutely worth the price and would do this again with Sail Acadia anytime. read more

It was a beautiful day for sailing on a 127 year old schooner (technically a cutter) with Captain Chris. The boat and captain made for a great time. We was saw porpoise, bald eagles and a lot of beautiful boats. Three hours of really funny conversation even when it was serious. My husband and I went on a sunset cruise to celebrate our first anniversary and it was everything we could have hoped for, and more! At first, we weren't sure if we'd be able to sail due to predicted weather in the area. We took a morning sail on board the "Linda" out of Northeast Harbor. I cannot give any higher accolades to this group than "WOW!" For all the other headboats on MDI looking to make their season this group seems to be of a different mindset. The very idea of "Small groups and personalized experiences" is something that seems to get lost in our world today. We had Ben as our Captain and it is my opinion that if he wants to join you for any future season, DO IT! He is kind, knowledgable, experienced, good with people and kids and is the type of person you can be confident will represent your company in the best ways. The conditions we had were just about perfect. A steady SSW breeze just strong enough to make good way under sail only. Highly recommended! read more

We went to their sailboat tour and it was not fun. I guess it was not all their fault but at 6 people, that was totally cramped. 4 should be the max. I guess revenue is more important than passengers comfort. I would suggest to use Ambergris (fareharbor.com) which has also up to 6 passengers but much bigger boat. read more

We took The Elizabeth T to Little Cranberry Island after my youngest son exchanged vows with my new daughter in law in Acadia National Park! What a wonderful authentic Maine experience aboard their refurbished lobster boat! Joel, the captain and his crew showed us seals in the harbor and relayed the history and daily life of the harbor and coast! This is a great way to get out on the water and see this beautiful coastline. read more

We reserved the 2 hour lobster and seal tour. Having been on many many lobster tours. Dory was very very nice but it was her first season so she wasn't very knowledgable about Maine, lobsters or seals. If she was new to the industry the captain should have spoken up more. But the Captain (Teak) pretty much spent the whole trip training someone else. I honestly learned nothing during our trip. Dory tried but she just didn't know. The captain barely interacted with us. We weren't the only ones that felt the same. Giving two stars as the boat was clean and Dory really tried. read more

We sailed with Linda ("the boat"), Captain Ben and Matt on September 2020 along with 4 other passengers. The boat was smaller than I expected but i guess it was really just enough for an hour trip. We booked for a sunset sail but unfortunately it got cloudy that day and so there really was no sunset view at all lol but the sea was great. It was a good time to just be out, feel some fresh air and even to chitchat with different people. Our Captains were engaging and kept the boat as lively as possible. They shared stories, information, pointed out places/islands and threw in some good jokes. They let some of us set the sails and even steer. Overall people aboard were great too, friendly and were all polite. It was a mix of NY, NJ and Tx crew! We get to bring our own picnic which was a plus. Sail Acadia was just one of the many options you get to explore Bar Harbor and all its splendor! read more

We sailed with Captain Ben yesterday. It was my wife, two friends visiting from Indiana, who are amateur sailors. The wind didn't cooperate fully, but that was fine for me (a landlubber) but the weather was spectacular for this late in the season . Capt. Ben went out of his way to find wind and was such a pleasure to talk to about Maine, Bar Harbor and life on the water. Sail Acadia was super communicative. The MDI Marathon was ending at Southwest Harbor so they sent us a reminder and information on how to avoid the race and crowds on our way to our appointment. From our "experienced" sailors to me, a first-timer, thanks to Capt. Ben and all of Sail Acadia. We highly recommend. read more

I can't say enough about how happy I was with my choice to charter a boat with Sail Acadia with 5 other friends I was vacationing with over the 4th of July week. As soon as I suggested sailing to the group, everyone immediately said yes. We picked a time and really lucked out with the weather. Our forecast was for rain, but the day before that seemed to clear up, then the day of our charter, we had perfect sailing weather. It was most of our first times on a sail boat and the captain and deck hand (is that what her title is?) were happy to answer all of our questions -including, but not limited to where, exactly the poop deck was. We were worried about the expected mayhem of spending the 4th of July in Bar Harbor area and our deck hand suggested the perfect island for us to spend the day away from the crowds of tourists (which we were too). So not only was our sailing experience as good as we could have hoped, but we got to see the impressive Otter Cliffs from the water before we climbed them, and got the inside scoop on Acadia. I hope I'm able to come back to sail again next time I'm in Acadia. read more

We go out on the ET every year and always love the experience. There's really nothing better than seeing MDI from the water. Captain Karl's entire team is always knowledgable, hospitality driven, and adaptive to the ever changing nature of the water. This year our trip with Joel and Terese was fantastic and the sunset over Acadia was incredible. Don't mess up and go on a larger boat as the experience on the Sail Acadia boats is far, far superior. read more

Our first trip was postponed due to weather, and the Sail Acadia team provided us the best customer service to get it sorted out so we could still make it out on the boat while on our vacation. It started to rain heavily towards the end of our sail, and we still have the BEST time thanks to Captain Karl on the Alice! The front desk woman Yvonne had a superior attitude and let us know the captain wasn't back yet and wouldn't let us pull up to the boat to unload our heavy cooler, even though we booked a private charter. On the boat, the staff was quite nice and very informative. Learned a lot however on the charter and the scenery is incredible. How we the service was completely lacking. We tipped them $100 at the end and asked if they can help us carry stuff to our car since we had quite a few things and we were denied. read more

We had such a nice lobster boat ride with Michael and Jerica as our guides. We booked the private tour since we had a toddler and wanted to make sure he had room to roam. It worked out perfectly. We saw so much wildlife and learned a lot about the area and lobstering. I would love to ride again. read more

My family arrived on time and the captain and mate were waiting for us. Sail Acadia was great to deal with on the phone and in person. We booked a private charter due to Covid and my girls (ages 5, 11, 13, & 14) tend to be a bit shy and nervous in front of people they don't know so this gave it a bit more "personal" feel to the trip. Jericha and Matt were FANTASTIC! I had a lot of questions during the tour and between the two of them I think they were able to answer them all. We saw multiple species on the trip - from seals, to a giant sunfish, to porpoises, to some sort of duck thing that Matt told me the name of 100X and I still can't remember - killmot or something, lol. We asked when we called if we could take a bit of a detour and drop a couple of lines in the water which they obliged and I was able to catch a small Pollock (of course it will go down in the history books as a whopper). They pulled up lobster traps and explained the male vs. female anatomy differences, how to measure legal vs. non-legal, and one of the lobsters was even big enough to keep. One of the smaller ones was respectfully named "Antonio Banderas" because it was a male and they banded his claws so no one got pinched when we held him :-). His GF wasn't so lucky but Antonio managed to be returned to the big blue unscathed. It was a great time and the weather was perfect. You have a beautiful (and clean - my wife was impressed) boat, a fantastic crew, and a wonderful place to live. We will definitely do it again in the future and thank you and your crew for making our 2020 family adventure a welcomed respite from all of the negativity and solitude that has consumed the year thus far! read more
