I lost my health insurance a week before my new patient appointment and was told by someone on the phone that self pay appts are $100 and 70% of if you pay the day of. I went in thinking it would cost me $30. I got there and they told me whoever told me that was wrong and that it's $500 something for self pay, and $165 with the 70% off discount if I pay the day of and the EKG is included. I went back into the appointment and was told the EKG was not included along with other tests they had to run and I was so frustrated I cried the entire appointment and was still charged $165 for NOTHING. I was so upset I was getting chest pains. They made me pay half the day of ($87) and are still sending me bills for the other half, but I refuse to pay. Every time I try to talk to billing about it they don't care and tell me I still have to pay even though the miscommunication was their fault. When I finally went in for tests a month later after getting insurance, I saw a nurse practitioner instead of the cardiologist and I was told I have a PVC and mild regurgitation but was not given treatment. They referred me to get a cardiac MRI but the place they referred me to- THEIR OWN HOSPITAL doesn't do them. I have messaged the nurse practitioner the multiple times on mychart and she hasn't responded. I was supposed to have a follow up appointment with her this week and I haven't even gotten the MRI yet and had to cancel it. THIS incompetent care and the horrible healthcare system in the US is why heart disease is the leading cause of death, along with this country's foul way of handling the COVID pandemic- a disease which has affected my heart. Additionally, last year when I got Covid i was seeing Samantha Reed and tried to call her for an appointment, and she randomly called me back. I thought this was just a common courtesy and then she charged the phone call as an appointment even though I was never told this was an "appointment." I now have over $100 in fees from them and they refuse to remove them although these charges are a result of their own incompetency. This hospital is completely incompetent and should be ashamed of how they treat patients. Hopefully I don't have a heart attack or can find somewhere else to go because this is absolutely ridiculous. read more

My husband reached out to his Orthopedic Surgeon today only to find out that his office has NOT received the Clearance letter from the Cardiologist yet. We hand delivered the paperwork to the desk at St Mary's Cardiologist's office on Nov 1st. Today he called and found out his Cardiologist has been on vacation since Nov.1st and will return Monday, Nov. 22nd. So, more waiting. This fact was not mentioned on Nov. 3rd when he called to set his next Cardiologist visit for late Feb. either. That's also when he was told that Dr Carrea was retiring in January so my husband had to set up a Feb visit with a different Cardiologist. At that time he asked about the Status of the request he'd dropped off to get Clearance to schedule knee surgery. All they told him is that it's on doctor's desk. Would have been a great time to tell him doc was out of the office until Nov 22nd. I know offices are stressed to the max with overworked and understaffed medical offices, however, accuracy in communications with patients costs nothing and saves return calls to determine status of requests or answer questions. Not to mention the added stress and anxiety created in the lives of patients and their families. The office staff, to their credit, remain courteous, however, providing complete information, like the absence of a doctor and that no one is covering his paperwork, would have been appreciated. Medical care in our country, the richest nation in the world, is akin to care in undeveloped countries with long wait times for appointments or someone to even answer the phone; lack of accurate and timely information; and overworked medical professionals. Awful! Hardly ever was able to see my doctor at all, was always pushed off to a PA. I had repeatedly asked to see my doctor and again was pushed off to a PA. I had to go all the way up to the administrator to find out what in the world was going on. My pharmacy was even concerned for my safety and had called them two times and they never called him back the same thing happened with my psychiatrist they never called him back either. Seriously? The front desk is horrible! I repeatedly again said I want to talk to my doctor not a nurse not a PA and guess what happens I get a nurse once again calling me back what is wrong with that picture? I am now finding a new cardiologist this is uncalled for and ridiculous read more

I recently attended an appointment in Cardiology for my symptoms palpitations (recurrence) and shortness of breathe. My established Dr did not have appointments less than 4 months out so I saw Dr Ahmadjee July 20th. I arrived 30 minutes prior to my 10 am appointment and was in the check in line nearly 30 minutes. There definitely seemed to be a staffing problem at the check-in and checkout desk, creating large lines in getting patients in and out. After finally being checked in I waited an additional 20 minutes to be called and I reviewed my current medication list with the MA for Dr. Ahmadjee. The MA was very efficient took my blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, and reviewed my current medication list. After the MA left the room, the doctor arrived promptly and we discussed what was currently happening with my health. I found that the doctor listened, ordered a echocardiogram of my heart, lipid blood panel, discussed my high cholesterol and my willingness to try, Rapatha, an injection drug to lower my cholesterol. Before leaving the room he informed me that I would be seeing someone new on my next follow up appointment, because he was leaving the St. Mary's group and moving back to Philadelphia closer to family. I noticed on my check out paperwork there was an error made by the Dr to stop a medication I take for allergies (Fexofenadine). I'm sure he meant my cholesterol medication called Fenofibrate, if I begin the Rapatha he prescribed. I am now waiting for a contact from radiology to schedule the echocardiogram, I got a notice from WALGREENS that the medication has not yet been approved by Medicare (Rapatha is $650 out of pocket for cash price). I'm finding that most new medication's on the pharmaceutical market are not being approved by Medicare, so my current belief is this will not be approved for me. Fortunately, I was able to get my follow up appointment with Dr. Kedia in November (4-6 month follow up). My biggest issue with St. Mary's Medical group is the large turnover of medical staff, and the long waits to get an appointment to see anyone outside your PCP (specialists). read more

Actually got through to Cardiology today after 3 days trying on & off. Was told Scheduling will call me back. She says there is 48-hour time frame within which they will call. Interesting. . . see reply I got from Mark yesterday with offer of customer service!! Called them, left a message, and never got any response. Correction: on my first review I say I was told somebody would call me about a future appointment. That was 6 months ago and never heard from anybody. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Kedia for years and I feel she is a great doctor, but the scheduling has changed in the last year and it has been terrible. I used to be able to schedule my six month appointment at the time of my visit. Now I can't schedule my appointment at the time of my visit as their months haven't opened up for scheduling that far in advance. I have called 4 times to get my appointment and still haven't scheduled. The first time I was on hold for 45 minutes and was told the month still hadn't opened up. The next two times were 10 and 15 minutes and still the month hadn't opened up. I just called today, on hold for 10 minutes, was hung up on, called back and on hold for another 10 minutes and was told they were booked out past the time I was supposed to come in by two months and that month is not open to schedule appointments. I am at a loss. read more

I bring My father to Dr. Bryan who is quite nice. The front office personnel (there's never more than 2 people) are never enough and they always act like we are "putting them out". Super unfriendly and not helpful at all. No greetings. No thank yous. I've watched them mistreat patients on a level that would have brought out the worst in me. Instead of finding ways to help, they find ways to put up road blocks. If you need a solution to a problem they are not going to help unless you just wont take no for an answer. There is always a line out the door waiting to get checked in. How about putting some chairs in the hall for my 90 year old father? Or is that just too inconvenient for your 20 something to handle? I don't know, maybe it's a fire hazard. Then they should get one of those number machines so people can take a number and have a seat. They do cater to the elderly so help us out! They are not real good with test results or medicine refills, so you really need to be an advocate for yourself and follow-up on test results and such so you know your getting the proper help. They really do let these kinds of things slide. Dr. Bryan is always very nice and seems to care about his patients. The assistants and rn's in the back are always very personable and nice. That really is the only reason we keep coming back. If I'm ever in need of a cardiologist, this would be the last choice for me. read more

Phone system, scheduling, follow up, etc is terrible. One of the worst I have ever encountered. I only put up with it because the cardiologist, Dr Bidart, is excellent. People with heart issues should not be putting up with the stress of this poorly run operation. You cannot even call for an appointment anymore. You have to go thru a call back system which is not really convenient. I am not always available for call backs. I need to be able to call up and get an appointment or they should add on-line scheduling. Really horrible! read more

I have seen both Eric Drummer and Richard Bryan at this office. Drummer is about the worst excuse of a cardiologist you can find. Bryan while slightly better than Drummer has also failed to meet my expectations. Neither one gave me time to explain why I was there. Drummer specifically never mentioned to me two events that I had while wearing a pocket ecg. He instead told me I was fine and dismissed me after barely spending 2 minutes in the room. Bryan put me on a medicine which is doing no good. I called their office well experiencing an episode of tachycardia where they told me get your stress test done then we will address your pulse rate. So I am waiting 5 more days to get a stress test done meanwhile my resting heart rate remains in the 120s and no one wants to help me. I would try any other cardiology office before you try this one. read more

We all have our experiences and thats okay. I have been with this group and Ram Challapalli for years. I came here for second opinion about an ablation procedure probably 10 years ago. It was decided to hold off on the procedure. I appreciated the conservative approach so I switched to this group. Being young fit and healthy my arrhythmia really did not limit me. Well fast forward ten years and I had the ablation procedure this Tuesday. I just got tired of the pounding when I tried to sleep. I was comfortable and understood everything going on because the doctor communicated clearly. The Saints staff was absolutely awesome. It has not yet been a week but it has been life changing already! If you need someone to call you back twice a day this is not the guy for you. He is very busy for a reason. If you want one of the best in the nation who is highly respected by his peers this is the guy for you!! Thank you Ram Challapalli!! read more
