We're surprised to be the first ones to review this historical place. It's right across the street from the Glanum ruins, so you'll be able to visit both together easily. Saint Paul de Mausole is a mental institution that Van Gogh checked himself into after a psychotic episode. There is no "real" art here, but they do have reproductions that he made during his stay and it is pretty amazing to see his paintings come to life, so to speak. The landscape is like a fairy-tale and it's easy to see how it inspired his art. There's a lovely entrance to walk down, a scenic courtyard, and reproductions of a kitchen and his bedroom. We read somewhere that the place still functions to help people with mental illnesses, so it's nice to know that your admission fee is going towards a good cause. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. read more
