Saint Timothy's is a phenomenal school! We've been a part of this community for 11 years, and as our twins get ready to graduate 8th grade, we couldn't be more grateful. The teachers and staff are incredibly dedicated, and the faith-based curriculum has allowed our 8th, 6th, and 3rd graders to truly blossom. I went to St. Timothy's from 1990 - 1994. While I really enjoyed the religious aspect of the school (their religion classes were top notch) the educational portion of the school was questionable. I begged to be let into public school like my neighborhood friends the last three years of elementary school and even as a kid I was blown away by how much better the local public school was. You would think a private school would have more resources than a public school but this is not the case in Fairfax County where our education system is ballin. Many many many moons later, I had a friend who enrolled her kid in a private religious school and ended up moving him to public school a year later for the exact same reason I stated. The one thing that was awesome / appalling about St. Tim's was their utter disrespect for healthy school lunches in the 90's. They literally would cater our school lunches from McDonalds, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. Oh memories. read more

Saint Timothy Catholic School has been wonderful to our 2 daughters! They have been going to St. Tim's for 3 years now. We can see our children going here for years to come. The staff and teachers are super friendly and caring. Christ presence in the school is truly a reflection on this community. My children feel challenged academically and spiritually. I was really excited when St Timothy started a full day preschool program. I have a four year old son who's rather eager about learning, I was excited when the teacher at his current preschool approach me and advised me to look for a more challenging environment for him to further his learning. I'm the product of the catholic school system from preschool to 7th grade, college and all the way through graduate school (although my family is not of the catholic faith). I'm more than satisfied with the education I've received. When my son started at St Timothy in September of 2017, he was three years old and knew and recognized all of the letters of the alphabet. He knew and recognized the numbers up to 50 and knew the rest up to 100. He also knew how to write his first and last name without help. We have been working with him at home on spelling, math, and recently started reading. He's even attempting to read alone at times. I also noticed that there was no academic progression beyond what we were doing with him at home. He was basically repeating all of the steps he learned from his previous preschool. During the school tour I remember having a conversation with the director expressing my concerns and expectation, and why I chose St Timothy. We discussed the individualized learning process, meaning if my son was ready to move on to the next part of the lessons that he wouldn't have to wait to move on with the class as a whole. She reassured me that St Timothy could accommodate. Don't get me wrong I'm not expecting St Timothy to be the Harvard of preschool, nor am I looking for such status. I do expect the preschool teachers to incorporate some form of math, reading, and writing in preparation to the next step which is Kindergarten. After having a long conversation with the director of the preschool program recently, I was disappointed to learn that (in her exact words) it's not the job of the preschool school teachers at St Timothy to teach any reading or math and all of that will be initiated in Kindergarten. The main focus or main part of their kindergarten readiness is to focus on behavior/social aspect of the transition to the next step. She's was pleasant about it but informed me that if I wished to incorporate reading/math or anything beyond what St Timothy teaches, I'm more than happy to initiate that step at home (which I already am). She even informed me that the next pre-k class will be the same process, so not to expect anything more from the program. To summarize it, I am disappointed with the way things are progressing (or not progressing) academically with St Timothy. I've spoken to a couple of parents who feel the same way but they're willing to stick it out. I'm currently in the process of looking for another preschool for the next year, even if I have to get placed in a waiting list or sort. What's even more disappointing, the school's main focus is truly "to fill the seats" in achieving the goal of being "the biggest catholic school in Virginia" not student academic advancement (my personal assessment). Like right, the main focus is returning the re-registration forms so they can accommodate the 10 parents on the waiting list, not so much what can we do to help our current students advance to the next step (again, my personal assessment). My review is simply to fully inform parents who are thinking of applying to the St Timothy's preschool what to expect. Basically not to have high hopes or to lower their academic expectations, if they decide to go with St Timothy catholic school. There's a review on greatschools.com from a parent who stated "The academics are most definitely sub-par and do not come close to those of Fairfax County Schools for the same grade." I can attest to that, but unlike other parents it's still early for my child and not willing to "stick it out." read more

We couldn't be happier making the change to St. Tims. One of our boys was struggling in public school with his IEP needs not being met and now we are finally seeing progress. To see your kid volunteer to read (which due to his learning disability he cannot be asked to read in class) you see the joy and accomplishment they must feel to be able to do so. Our children have attended St. Timothy's for five years (one starting in kindergarten and the other starting in preschool). We have been extremely pleased and impressed with the school and the impact that it has had on our children. The teachers are dedicated educators who genuinely care about their students' educational progress as well as their progress in becoming well-rounded, kind members of their communities. The school administrators are forward-thinking and consistently look for new ways to improve the already fantastic school community. We are fortunate enough to live nearly next door to an excellent Fairfax County public school, which we are confident could provide our children a great education. But we are looking for more in our children's education-- an emphasis on being a good person who helps to make the world a better place. We feel fortunate to have found that at St. Tim's. read more

I am a product of Fairfax County Public School and I have always thought of my kids going to public school. My husband was the one who pushed for Catholic school for the sole purpose of faith formation. And we are very happy with St. Timothy to help us create that foundation for our children. Not only are they exposed to our Catholic Faith, they are also getting a good education with the wonderful teachers and staff. We are impressed with the sense of community that the families, teachers and staff create. Our 3 kids enjoy going to St. Tim's and look forward to being involved in the parish. read more

St. Tim's has a wonderful administration and dedicated teachers and staff. I have 2 kids- a 2nd grader and a preschooler- who love learning about our faith. Our two children have been students at St. Timothy School since kindergarten. Our daughter is now starting 2nd grade and our son starting 6th grade. We really could not be happier. St. Timothy is more than just a school, it is a vibrant active and safe community where parents, children, teachers and administrators work together to educate in science, technology, music, art, humanities and religion. The administrators and teachers actively seek feedback from and listen to parents and students in an effort continuously grow and improve. St. Timothy offers a wide range of extracurricular activities including sports like track, basketball, boxing and tennis; academics like math and science competitions and robotics, coding and chess clubs; and others like drama, cross stitch, choir and band. St. Tim's also offers affordable after school care for working parents where students have homework tutoring available as well as physical activity and arts and crafts.
