It's so refreshing to see smiles from the pulpit when a priest preaches or anyone who participates in the service! Many Epicopal churches do not deliver their services with delight. The exception and a truly wonderful one is St. Matthew's! Please visit and you will be told what a blessing you have given Father Chris by being present. He truly believes we are awesome and reminds you of that. Children are welcome and are lauded as the next generation of the church so bring your children, they have a nursery if that's your preference. The children's service during the main service is so precious! Each child receives a sticker and a high five afterwards. This will be my new church home. Among many other missions we are currently collecting fruit cups for sawyerville day camp and there is a Greek night fellowship and fundraiser next Saturday. This is an active church. So refreshing. On your first visit you receive the load of homemade bread (I added a photo of it). Also NOT pushy in any way and for those who enjoy a contemporary service, St. Matthew's has one at 5 PM on Sunday. There's a full band at that service and contemporary music. There is a Wednesday brews and blessings (that isn't the correct name - I lost that page of the bulletin) at a local Madison brewery for Christian discussion and a Brew or two. I think it's monthly around 6 or 7 PM. I wish I remmebered the name of the brewery. This gathering is primariky for young adults but I plan to bust all up in there and join in despite being over 39 :) All baptised individuals are welcome to take the Eucharist which is offered at all three services each Sunday. So come join us. We would love to have you. Father Chris and his sweet and lovely wife Ally moved here from the Gadsden area and I couldn't be more happy as they have brought a breath of fresh air to St. Matthew's! I like Good Shepherd!! Probably 30 years ago my brother attended this church regularly and played…read moreguitar there. I attended to support him on numerous occasions. Also, my former boss was (back then) and still is active at this church. He is in charge of the prison ministry where the church provides pastries and coffee for families waiting to see inmates at the Limestone Correctional Facility. Other missions of Good Shepherd are Homeless Ministry where they supply the homeless with food and needed items; they partner with other churches to build a house for Habitat for Humanity each spring; their campus is a storm shelter; they make blankets for children in need; provide meals to their parishioners who are undergoing sickness of a death in the family; accept medical equipment donations and used eye glasses donations; and the cook and distribute food to the homeless via the Salvation Army Mobile Food Truck. They even have a cafe on site! In person worship is at 9:00 and 10:30 with the 10:30 service livestreamed on FB and YouTube.
