With that said, "The Club" itself is very well run and well kept with a country club beachy feel to it.The highlight is the spectacular view of one of the most gorgeous beaches in America while you are sun bathing or lunching. They also have a beautiful tennis court and two pools. The staff are always super nice and happy to see you. I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be whether cooling off or al fresco dining than the Dune's. Beautiful beach, great food and awesome drinks always served with a smile. Love it here!!

The tennis club on the other hand is exceptionally great. The staff are helpful, highly knowledgable and skilled, they are not snobby and do not need enemas. They do a great job.

It really is amazing how the ocean can affect the weather for the course and yesterday was a prime example. 10 miles away it was sunny and 72 degrees. At the course it was 62 degrees and socked in with fog. Amazing. And that fog created dense air which resulted in a 1-2 club difference. Wow. Again, Don Ross showed how ahead of his time that he truly was. Incredibly well placed bunkers caught the well-hit, slightly errant tee ball. This course is just a joy to play.

The staff is always friendly, attentive, and eager to make sure you have a great day/experience. The pro shop is well stocked, and the course is always in excellent condition. It is a very challenging course, as flat lies are tough to come by, but fairways are open enough that most skill levels will find the course enjoyable.

The experience has almost always been flawless - beautiful food, well prepared and seasonally charged. The kitchen goes fresh, with simple preparations when possible, and photo-worthy plating. For proof, see my feeble attempts at foodie pics. The menu is diverse, but with their daily fresh catches and fierce focus on seafood, going under the sea is always a solid bet. For the casual, outdoor lunch menu, blacken the cod (or fresh local whitefish) sandwich and opt for the lemon vinaigrette. The quesadilla is a lovely, chunky, molten mess, and I'd strongly suggest a smoothie - any of their standards fill the void. For the restaurant, both the Seafood Salad or a seared catch of the day are winners. Stick with wine - their list is impressive, and cocktails are the only facet of our experience that feels like a crapshoot. Service excels, and they treat our kid like royalty; it's a member's club, after all.

This is an okay public course but so many golf websites have voted it 'best puic course ...' that…read moreperhaps my expectations overshot the actuality. The first impression is not great. Parking lot was crowded ... the bag drop station is utter chaos ... gravel roads ... and the clubhouse looks like a trailer. (I've heard about the new awesome club house being built for two years now.) The almost $200 is utterly ridiculous. This is not a $200 course. The nicest part was the cart with plush leather seats, accurate GPS (although we went off 'course' twice where our cart locked up and we had to drive 20 yatds in reverse, despite the cart ahead of us having no issue on the same path). The cooler in the cart stocked with ice and water was a nice touch. The greens here are the most difficult I have played anywhere. Even a 4 - 5 foot put, which I normally hit 80 - 90% of the time had about a 50/50 make rate. If you play this course often, you'll likely know where to hit the greens ... but for folks who don't play it regularly, prepare for a lot of 3 putts. The fescue grass lining the fairways is impossible. If your ball skips 3 feet off the fairway, it's gone. I had a lot of shots we saw land pretty clearly that ended up with a lost ball. I've never lost as many balls on a course before. I realize that this is part of the challenge of the course but I lost 9 Titleist Pro V balls during the round ... $35 worth! Normally I lose 1 or 2 balls per round. The course is so crowded that you don't have much time to look for balls in the high grass as the groups behind you are always on your ass. The fairways are immaculate here. They are literally as nice as some of the putting greens on other courses I've played. The course is in great shape and well cared for ... except we found each sand trap we encountered to be a significantly different softness than the others, making hitting out of them a challenge. Also, there was not one ocean view hole. Like the greens fees, the food is expensive. $22 for a buffalo chicken wrap. It was a damn good sandwich ... but overpriced. Also, a little too hot ... you'll certainly be feeling it the next day. Eating on the deck was weird ... it wasn't a very pleasant dining area ... kind of like that of a resort town mini-golf course. The whole restaurant/pro-shop feels like eating in a trailer park. The bathroom was utterly gross and smelly. Overall, I see no need to return here at these prices. From the sketchy net with holes in it hung from a tree vs. a driving range ... to the rushed pace of play, we didn't feel we got our money's worth here. True golf fans with deep pockets will find the course challenging and fun ... but those who prefer the creature comforts of a nice clubhouse and dining may be dissapointed. The best part of the course is the staff ... they are 5-star all around. Brusque but effective in the way you'd expect from a premiere course.

Second, the bread basket contained 8 rolls for a table set for 10. Meanwhile only one bar was open generating excessive lines and inability for many to get a drink before being instructed to sit for the event. The biggest failure came with the main course, that not only was served over 2 HOURS late, but was inedible. My dish, including pasta and chicken, was not only cold, but the pasta had been left out for hours and was starting to dry out providing for an unpleasant texture. Additionally the chicken was over cooked and did not resemble anything close to chicken piccata. At this point I left the event in disappointment as we were now approaching 9:30 pm with no desert in site. I hope a refund was considered by the club for this event.
