He's also attends Bridges after school and they've been great too. There has been an incident at school and after school but they've communicated with me. My son of course explains more from his perspective and all lines up. I'm a little bit laid back and not a new age mom so it really depends on your expectations. The point of my son going to this school is to be in the DI program and to grow up in a cultural diverse school. I've debated back and forth with him on going to a local ES and also a top tier school but the local elementary school has really low test grades and the top tier has no diversity. This was my in between. I travel 2-2.5 hrs a day between his school, work and home. To me its worth it. To each is their own.

A teacher at the school had told them it was ok to come the boy's graduation but he wouldn't be able to walk and this lady stopped them at the door, was rude, disrespectful, and made fun of the mom by saying she couldn't understand her English. The poor boy was crying I'm embarrassed and even though the Principal was told by another teacher that what she was saying was true, the principal said she had the final word. Very low principal Heidi Garden! My child also goes to this school and let me tell you, do your research.. This principle has a lot of complaints on her. Just glad my daughter will no longer be coming to this school!

I was really, really hopeful that this program would work for my children. I initiated contact…read morethrough the email provided on the website, and received a response from the admin. assistant a few days later. I had a variety of questions that the website did not answer for me, such as.... Is my child assessed for their current Spanish comprehension prior to being enrolled in one the programs they offer? How is that done? Formal assessment? Is the current class offerings full, or is there a certain enrollment period? For private lessons, do I pick a time, does the teacher pick the time? I find these questions to be simple enough, but sadly it took over a month of ME pursuing this business with phone calls and emails to get all questions answered. I think it odd that I had to go to so much work to try and give them my money. Eventually, 6 weeks later, I was paired up with a Tutor who I thought was going to assess my daughter and determine a class placement and provide me with more information (curriculum, assessments, contracts, commitments, etc.) While she was extremely nice to me, interactive with my daughter and cheerful.... she knew close-to-nothing about The Spanish Immersion Program. According to her, I would be paying Spanish immersion a lot of money to have her come over once a week for an hour and hang out with my daughter speaking conversational Spanish. I don't expect or need a textbook for my kid. But for it being a business that provides a professional service, I was expecting a little something more. To show that I was getting my money's worth. A Pre & Post evaluation that says, "look, we have goals and guidelines and your child is reaching them. See?" Maybe something that says the tutors are background checked, formally trained, and come with prior teaching/tutoring experience. something. anything. I made one last attempt to speak to the Director, who couldn't remember off the top of her head what the rates were for classes PLUS tutoring (because I really don't think the cost and time for one hour a week would be effective). She never followed up, so I ultimately took my business elsewhere.

It is her first language. She teaches AP French at a local private school and has taught college French. She even has a doctorate degree in bilingual education! Wow! She is such a gem. The class is complete immersion. The kids begin the class sitting in a circle and singing French songs and saying greetings. They do a physical activity after circle time. An example is to search the room for certain colors the teacher asks them to find, Ect. The next part includes a coloring activity. The teacher actually goes through every item they are coloring (a bear, a horse, a flower, a carrot, Ect) and questions them about it in French then has them color it with a certain color. The kids are learning while they color. She also has toy visuals of the items that she is having them color. After that, they take a 15 minute break. Later the teacher reads them a story. I sat in with my daughter one day and my daughter understood everything the teacher said. She answered the questions (in English) and even translated for me. This was the first time I realized that my daughter was really learning French. In the beginning My daughter told me it was too hard and she didn't understand. At this point it's a little too easy for her. Her teacher will be moving her to a more challenging class next month. :) Ps. we have no background in the French language. I still get hello and good bye mixed after 6 months. Yikes! Wish I had a young mind. I hope this review was useful
