After going here for years I won't be going back again. The manager is a condescending racist asshole. He makes comments on what you order and how you look. The staff has always made me very uncomfortable as they have recorded me and yelled inappropriate things at me when I've gone to pick up an online order. The portions are very small for what you pay and it's not like it's completely fresh fish on a coast. I never feel comfortable being here. I would much rather drive 2 hours for a plate of sushi than eat here for free. read more

My last couple of visits have made me sad knowing how downhill this restaurant has gone. Once my favorite but recently a lot of the food has been sloppy it really has been a hit or miss lately. This was a good choice for dinner. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere to it. A little warm temperature wise. The staff is pretty speedy and attentive. Drinks came to the table fast. I ordered the green dragon roll and the husker roll. Both had a quality presentation value and came out looking fresh. The taste was great as well, alot of flavor. I also ordered the octopus sashimi which I liked and the squid sashimi which I didn't like the texture of. I also got two glasses of plum wine which hinted flavors aiming towards a port style wine, and it was delicious. I would recommend this restaurant. read more

Norfolk is in between mine and my parents house and a great meeting place. We first met at Sakura in November 16 and have frequently talked about the amazing hibachi chef named Ping Ping. When we went again in August he was once again an amazing chef and entertainer. He learned the kids names and help them to interact in the cooking. He was friendly and funny and kind. Will stop every time we're in town! The hibachi was delicious and fresh. The sushi rolls (crunchy roll and Norfolk roll) were also quite good. Staff is friendly and helpful. well this was probably the worst service i have experienced in my life! I travel for work every week i am somewhere and i try out most of the restaurants of the area. i can't comment about the food cause i never made it to this point. what i can tell you is that staff is a bunch of unfriendly aggresive folks and thieves! after the rude attention we decided to leave before touching anything but my friend forgot his phone inside. once back gor the phone he didn't want to give it saying we had to pay for the order we never received. no wonder pmace is empty. I'm a frequent customer. After moving to Norfolk from SoCal, I was dying for a better place to eat and thank goodness Sakura opened! Their sushi is solid. The fish is some of the best I've ever eaten anywhere-- it's high quality, fresh and tasty. I love their salmon, which they apparently get from Sweden or something. The only downside is that they don't carry more exotic items like sea urchin, simply because there isn't enough demand for it in Norfolk. Speciality rolls are a little on the pricey side, but they are well done. When I'm there, I always get an assortment of sashimi, the spicy tuna roll and spider roll, and I'm never disappointed. Though, sashimi cuts are sometimes inconsistent, but that's alright. They also have great udon noodle soup. I've only done the hibachi grill thing once, and it was fun, but I mainly come here to quench my thirst for raw fish. I don't much care for their assortment of cocktails, which are a little too foo-foo and sweet. Their wine selection leaves something to be desired, but I don't need to eat sushi with alcohol. Decor and ambiance is unlike anything you will get in Norfolk. It's the nicest place to eat within a hundred mile radius. Perfect place for a special dinner date or get-together. The staff are always kind, and up for friendly conversation. I go there enough that they recognize me now. I highly recommend Sakura. If you're in the Norfolk area, this is a great place to try something new. read more

Opted for the booth side. Sushi was alright, didn't like that they didn't have sauces on them so they were a bit dry. Charged xtra for a small side of eel sauce which I thought was strange considering It was a very small amount. Clear soup was good. Overall we tried 3 sushi rolls and really wasn't impressed. Also got the fried rice which wasn't too flavorful, it needed salt for sure.. so a little soy sauce helped it. Had lots of veggies. We will be back to try the hibachi grill sometime. read more

The food is OK at best. They have a difficult time getting special requests right. What's most surprising is how the manager keeps his job with how he handles problems. So like I said, special requests are an issue. I brought it to his attention and his answer was "bring it back if you don't like it and don't order here again". OK. You got it Johnny Bravo. An overpriced restaurant in a small town with horrible management and mediocre food? If you guys stick around, it's because of lack of options. Unique, fun, and all around awesome. There's nothing like it in Norfolk or anywhere nearby. It's great, it's a hibachi, great sushi, dinner and a show! Our cook was funny, entertaining, let our 8 year old start the grill on fire (he loved it) and the food was fantastic. It's worth the trip and return trips! I've had sushi in Los Angeles, Austin, Denver, and several other big cities across this country and in this state. In Nebraska, the best sushi is in Omaha...and here at Sakura in Norfolk. In terms of quality of ingredients, flavor, texture, and plate presentation, this restaurant is comparable to the sushi I've had in the biggest cities around the country. Price-wise, it's comparable to what I've paid in other sushi restaurants in this state. Hands down, the sushi here is better than I've had anywhere else in the state outside of Omaha, and every bit as good as what I've gotten in Denver. The service was great: we never had an empty glass, they tended to our every want, and they didn't hover around when we didn't want them around. I look forward to eating here again, and I can't wait to try the hibachi grill. read more

Great hibachi. Delicious, entertaining, and fast. What else could you ask for? I ordered the hibachi filet mignon medium rare, and they cooked a great piece of beef to perfection. It is a hibachi grill only, so don't come in expecting to have a 10-oz filet ever sitting on your plate -- the meat will be sliced and diced to perfection before it lands on your plate. The requisite utensil flipping, fire show (including the onion volcano), and chopping skills were on display. The sake and beer selection could be a little more robust, but I can understand how that might be an expensive proposition for a business that just started. read more

Well it's Norfolk Nebraska so it was a shot in the dark and my hopes weren't high. I went in for a lunch service and it was ok. Staff looked bored. Friendly but for freshness of food it was 3.5 stars. I wasn't expecting fish caught that morning. But there is room for improvement that's for sure. The host, the waiter ... everyone was just so awkward ... and I know everyone's peresonalty is different but this is exactly why I interview people before hiring them. I just felt so awkward the entire time. The food arrived, I ordered a beef fried rice. .... BRO... When I tell u this thing was SALLLTTYYY... Wow. Sounds strange to eat fresh seafood almost 1,000 miles from the nearest body of salt water, but the sushi here is most adequate. The decorations are really showing their age, especially near the front entrance. HALLELUJAH !!!! Moved to Northeastern Nebraska a few months ago and wept for months, NOWHERE to get a good meal. I have since found 2 great restaurants within an hours drive from home. Firstly is Sakura Steakhouse in Norfolk. Honestly, it is the best combination hibachi ever. I have eaten at some fabulous Japanese restaurants in Denver and London. Sakura in Norfolk NE would not be embarrassed to compete there. I love that I can order online and go fetch it. I'm heading back there to have sushi. The other great restaurant is The Silk Road in Vermillion, South Dakota 1 small hour away in the other direction from me. read more

The sushi here is decent. The fish seems fairly fresh and flavorful. But I'm giving it only 3 stars mainly for two reasons. First, the serving sizes are pathetically small. Some of the tiniest nigiri and rolls I've ever had in any sushi restaurant. Second, the staff are clueless. I asked for low sodium soy in my to-go order and I was given packets of regular soy. It took a minute to get them to understand what I wanted. Also they only gave me a fork with my sushi. Who eats sushi with a fork??!! read more

This place is like a little hidden gem. We found it thru Yelp & we're not disappointed. I don't eat sushi but my family does & they all said it was good. I had hibachi shrimp & scallops & it was good. The scallops were cooked perfectly! The shrimp was a tad overdone but still good. Sakura offers a more upscale dinner option for Norfolk. I have been on both the dining side and the grill side. Both sides are nice and good service for the most part. The grill side is fun and the cook is always funny and keeps you entertained. The food is great and you can order sushi from the grill side. I usually go for the sushi and sneak food off my husband's plate. The only downside of ordering sushi from the grill side, is a few times I feel like they forgot about me. Everyone had been served their food and I was still waiting for my Sushi. The quickly got it for me once they realized what was going on, but I don't appreciate being forgotten about when everyone else is already eating. The dining side is nice, and you can order the Hibachi from that side as well. It usually doesn't take long at all to get your food and it is always excellent. The sushi is always great and picture perfect. I would recommend this for anyone looking for great sushi in the area, or a fun meal with the family. Yesterday my family and I enjoyed a hibachi dinner, and as usual it was outstanding- great and friendly waiter, entertaining and talented hibachi chef- it doesn't get much better. I still standby the "Sakura Supreme for 2" as the best value on the menu if you have an appetite. You get to try everything- including lobster, shrimp, scallops, steak, and chicken!
