Sal e Brasa is a kinda famous Brazilian steakhouse in the Northeast of Brazil & in the Federal Capital. They are all churrascarias that serve rodizio (for those who've never been--it's all the meat you can eat plus a buffet of side dishes. "Rodizio" means "rotation" in English. The waiters come by your table with spits of meat and you can take a few slices or not. They'll keep coming as long as you want to eat.). They have about 13 restaurants in 10 different states in Brazil.
This new site is located in the largest shopping mall in the Capital of Paraiba. Obviously it'd be impossible to serve all-you-can-eat at a food court in a mall, but I was at least hoping for quality food or generous portions. This place fell on its face on both of these counts.
They actually bothered to ask me how I wanted my steak done ("rare" of course!). When they called our number, I really wanted to laugh, cuz the piece of meat reminded me of something you'd see in a Swanson's frozen dinner. It was so thin, the chef couldn't have possibly cooked this meat to my specification. It was about ¼ inch thick. I won't go so far as to say that it was processed meat, but it might as well have been.
I'm not suggesting that they should lose money on their portions, but they have a reputation to protect and this place does nothing to preserve their good name. Quite the opposite.
I highly recommend that you NEVER eat at this place. The only positive that I can mention is that when I pointed out that the "steak" was not "mal passada" or "underdone", the staff offered to re-cook the "steak", but I thanked them and told them not to try. read more
