DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT ALONE. Bring a friend, a lover, or even your ex.
About over a year ago, Salang kicked out a massage parlor andnplace itself on the second floor. Recently, it kicked Manang's out and expanded to the ground floor. Business is probably good with a lot of buildings being built on Ortigas.
As I was cleaning up my store, I atopped at lunch time and tried to drop by there. Somehow the signs and posters attracted me to it. Salang serves mostly Korean woth some Japanese cuisine. They also serve a lot of oysters. I sat down and flipped the menu. I almost fainted by the price listed, most of them were p300-p800. It was beyond my imagination. Well, there were a few p100+ for rice meals and ramen.
I ordered Kimchi Fried Rice (Php180) and Fried Mandu (Php180). The fried rice is like your ordinary plain rice coated in kimchi with some meat and cabbage and topped with egg, and serves about 2-3. Nothing really special about the dish, its like my home take on egg fried rice with ketchup. The mandu was 8 pcs and nothing much of a filling, but I love the crunch and flavor of the wrapper. Appetizers were also served and you can get a refill twice. I got kimchi, fried sweet potato cubes, tofu slices, and sausage with sayote. Pretty decent taste.
Well, servings are good for sharing, but for me, it is still expensive. I know better and cheaper Korean restaurants. I wanted to try my usual staples like seafood pancake (Php600) or Budae Jigae (Php500), but I feel it will not be worth it.
It's good to try. Bring a friend since they don't have anything for single diners. read more
