While it doesn't exactly taste like real meat, the texture sure comes close, and who cares if it doesn't taste like real meat anyway?

Customer service was good, restaurant was cozy, and food was out of this world. I came today and saw they were in a new location. Initially felt "cool" but immediately was greeted with a cold demeanor. Half of our table are Filipino born and raised, while my sister and I are born in the US. I asked for bottled water and they had one bottle left. My dad (born in the Philippines), watched the lady who initially sat us down who mocked me for asking for bottled water. I had my back to the restaurant the entire time, so I didn't see a lot of the interaction, but my dad saw and understood it all. We ordered the sisig - undercooked. The pancit hab hab - underwhelming. They had no soda, and we all (9) had to share 1 big bottle of water. Ok, fine, no troubles. Then, they ran out of plenty of entrees, so we were limited on what to order. My sister watched the staff spray the table while there were still items on it, while my dad watched and listened as the staff were gossiping about all the patrons (including us) in the restaurant. It was quite uncomfortable. Sorry not sorry, but this place is no longer it and the entire staff needs an entire overhaul of retraining if you want to salvage this place.

Yesterday, I'm not sure if they were understaffed because there was only 1 counter and the 2 ladies at the cashier were sort of distracted? They asked us what we wanted, and then they turned to another couple next to us to get their orders too, and ended up putting us on hold. When they got back to us they completely forgot what we asked for so we had to repeat ourselves. Anyway, on other occasions their customer service is better. Maybe yesterday was a fluke.

I also do think they've popularized tofu chips here! If you're vegan, do take note: A lot of vegans get really confused by their label "neo-vegan" because for those who aren't aware, they have some dishes with real fish (tuna) and real cheese (keso blanca). Other than those irksome issues, I love their food, and it's one of my favorite quiet spots to hang out at in Greenbelt to get some work done on my laptop and hang out with some birds flying around the cinema area (which I've ALSO tried to feed, to no avail. Haha.) The heartiest salad I've ever had locally is from Chimara. It's their Meatless Taco, topped with TVP, beans, and other colorful veggies. It's super fresh and filling. To make it vegan, ask them to remove the keso blanca. Other good vegan options are the Tofu Pesto Pita Romana, soy milkshake, and, if you're feeling adventurous, grab some wasabi popcorn for your movie. It's very addictive!

Because both those options are not possible, one of the things I choose to do is eat ice cream. Though sometimes, after eating ice cream, I guess because it's sweet, I feel even more thirtsy after. This is something I didn't get from eating Liq My Stick popsicles. This business, newly established by a couple who had also just moved to Manila, is just in time as more and more people are appreciating vegan and organic options for food. Liq My Stick proudly uses locally-sourced fruits and products, and are vegetarian. I'm no vegetarian, but I thoroughly enjoyed my two sticks one summer afternoon at the park. I tried the Spiced Apple Pie, which had stewed apples, caramelized sugar, coconut crème, Dutch spices, and a twisted dose of the highly acclaimed Don Papa rum. Talk about being proudly local! I found it good, with the bits of apple a delight, not overly sweet, and the rum wasn't overpowering. I liked it so much I had to try another flavor. I absolutely loved the Bloomin' British Tart, which had organic Benguet lemons and coconut crème. I loved everything about it! It was both creamy and zesty at the same time. The texture was wonderful, too!

Now that's impressive considering I've heard a lot about their healthy and delicious popsicles. I thought they've been in business for months or even a year. That says a lot about their product. Their attractive and yummy popsicles are so nutritious. Made with organic vegetables, local fruits and some with alcohol if anyone wants a kick in their mornings. If you can't drink in the morning, here's your loophole. You can eat alcohol in the morning, haha! I made the mistake of buying from them after we ate brunch (which is reasonable). BUT by the time we got there, a lot of their flavors were sold out! :( Only 2 flavors left. We got their new flavor called "Monkey's Stash" which has bananas, blueberries, cinnamon (yum!), date syrup, vanilla hemp rice protein and roasted almonds. We really liked it although if you have a major sweet tooth, it doesn't have that much sweetness. Still good though! Loved the blueberries and the roasted almonds at the bottom. They even have a photo contest (every month?). Post a great picture of your popsicle on instagram and tag them #liqmystick. If you win, they'll deliver 27 (if I remember correctly) popsicles to your house! It's like Christmas, haha. I took FIVEever trying to take good pictures of mine and I was SO surprised their popsicle didn't melt in the sweltering Sunday morning heat!! It wasn't even melting when I finally ate it. 10 points for Gryffin...I mean, Liq My Stick. XD

The food presentation was also on point. Everything looked aesthetic and thoughtfully prepared. For this visit, we ordered the Salmon Tuyo, Chicken Inasal, and Hummus. Overall, the food was okay, but nothing really stood out. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't the kind of meal that would make me excited to come back. The Chicken Inasal was a bit bland for my taste, and while the chicken oil was supposed to add more flavor, I found it too spicy. The other dishes were decent, but I kept wondering if we had simply ordered the wrong items. Maybe Wholesome Table shines more with its healthier signature offerings, and perhaps we'd have a better experience exploring that side of the menu next time. We spent around ₱1,800, and for that price, I expected something a little more memorable. The quality and presentation were there, but the flavors didn't quite justify the cost for me. I liked the ambiance and how photogenic everything was, but the food itself didn't have that "wow" factor. I'd still be open to giving it another try, but next time I'd probably order dishes that lean more into their healthy concept.
