Abe is one of my favorite restaurants in Metro Manila and I usually have a great experience with the food...I really appreciate the authentic flavors and the elevated quality. On a recent visit I had the Manyamang Beef Asado, which was a nice hearty slice of beef with excellent flavors, I also had the Baby Squid Rice, which complemented the beef dish with its more subtle flavors, although still very rich. The customer service was attentive and the ambiance felt polished, but still comfortable. This restaurant is a bit on the expensive side, but you are paying for the higher quality. I really enjoyed my meal here and on my next visit, I'm looking forward to trying other options from their large menu. read more

Found a fancy Filipino food restaurant in SM Megamall. It was very good but pricy. We came here for lunch so not as many people were there but once we were done, the place was crowded. Also, there were many business people here. The place is very modernly decorated. This place can accommodate big groups. This is what we ordered for our group: Appetizers: Sinuteng Baby squid - like adobo squid due to lots of garlic (my fave) Kinilaw na Tanigue - very good and fish belly was delish with spicy peppers Pickled mango - this was free but I could not enjoy it since this was so salty! Main dishes: Laing w/ Tinapa - very good Kare Kare - very good and tripe was very soft Green mango & Bagoong salad - good but too salty for me to just eat by itself Binukadkad na Pla Pla - very moist tilapia deep fried. Outside was salty but was ok balanced. Dessert: Dessert was recommended by our waiter and was not on the menu - this had macapuno ice cream with mango and suman inside - so so good! Drink: Mango shake - awesome of course Calamansi drink - super sweet and had to drink Fresh Buko juice - so much juice and lots of Biko meat to have! The advantage of being the early bird in your barkada Christmas get-together is that you get to choose which restaurant you make the reservations with, and what dishes are going to be served. No burgers, Mexican or Japanese food in my Christmas party. Abe is one of my favorite Filipino restaurants. Expect to spend a little more than your usual crispy-pata-and-karekare resto, but lunch here is guaranteed to be something special. For an intimate group of 2 to 4 diners, don't even bother looking at the menu! Look your server in the eye and request the Knockout Knuckles (i.e. crispy pata), Abe's Chicken Supreme, and pork sinigang sa ube. And unlimited rice all around (yes, even your skinny b**ch companion) and to make it snappy! If you want a larger spread, the lengua pastel is also really good. The meat was super tender, and you will forget your table manners when you start tearing at the pie crust and mopping the sauce up with it. The laing is also an excellent complement to the roast chicken and the deep fried trotters. Steer clear of the chicken adobado unless you feel like experimenting. read more

My cousin took us for lunch here when we were in town. We really enjoyed our meal! We ordered the Lamb Adobo, Bamboo rice, Baby Squid (the ran out so they used calamari instead) and Alabang sauce/dip, and paco salad with salted egg. The Lamb adobo was delicious. Very tender and flavorful. Nice big pieces of lamb and it was enough for 3 people to share. The bamboo rice was very unique. I like the way it was served. It tasted very good! I would def order this again. Unfortunately they ran out of baby squid so they replaced it with calamari. It was good, but was really hoping to try the baby squid. My fave dish out of all was the Paco/Fern salad! It was light, crispy, and refreshing! The salted egg and tomato complimented it perfectly and it wasn't too overpowering. Don't be intimidated by its interiors and its fancy waiters drawing you in from outside! You won't be paying a fortune trying to eat here but you MUST try it!!!! You will be paying a lot because you will be ordering a lot because the food here is ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. It's really great Filipino food for just the right price!!! This restaurant has a lot of kapampangan specialties so you better be up for some spice! We and my friends ordered Baby Squid in Olive Oil and herbs, Kaldereta, Kapampangan Sisig, Crispy Pata and Sugpo in Aligue sauce (Big shrimps in Crab Fat sauce - I know it sounds fucking wonderful). They also serve unlimited rice for just an extra 20 pesos per person vs 45php a cup so no worries there if you ever decide to hoard on rice! Some of us ended up eating with our hands because the food was THAT good! You won't be wasting your money here! I definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who's ever in Manila to try!! I read an article somewhere back then that Filipino good is really good and can be incredibly popular on a global scale but the problem was in the packaging. It's hard to elevate it to fine dining status because we never thought about plating and all that jazz. Consider a plate of sisig. I'm sure you can plate it degustation style so it looks fancy, but it loses its spirit along the way. Can you imagine eating just one spoonful of sisig? Hell no. This is why I feel that Abe is the best foot forward of Filipino food. It's upscale but still familiar. If you're entertaining a foreign visitor, especially those who are apprehensive of going against the norm, Abe is the place to visit. They have found the delicate balance of plating dishes so that they look well enough as well as preserving the spirit behind each dish. read more

My late grandmother used to own a carinderia in Caloocan City. It became pretty popular in the area because her cooking was something you cannot NOT fall in love with. Although it closed down when she passed away, it was a mark that she was a real master in the kitchen, especially when it comes to Filipino dishes. Since then, my family and I have been very particular when it comes to Pinoy cuisine and only very few restaurants have passed the test. One that surpassed the Zamesa taste test would be Abe, the Kapampangan-style fine dining restaurant found at SM Mega Food Hall. It was actually my brother-in-law who first learned about this place and when he discovered how good the food was, he treated the whole family to a lunch there on Sunday. The food is indeed impeccable. I loved their Kare-kare even though I'm not a big fan of that ulam to begin with. Their Sinuteng Baby Squid is also very delicious. I think I devoured one whole plate myself. Their Gising-Gising was also very good (love how the balance of flavors play out with this dish) and their Original Crispy Tadyang is to die for. But my most favorite out of their menu would be their popular dessert, Sikreto ni Maria. It's basically suman (sweet sticky rice cake), strips of yellow mango and vanilla ice cream. So addicting! If you want some authentic Filipino cooking, check this place out. It's good for a date night or big groups. Abe has become one of my favorite Filipino restaurants as of late last year. I like how their branches have this modern bahay kubo appeal to it. The staff is friendly and accommodating. We would usually order their Crispy Tadjang partnered with Laing or Sinigang na Baboy. I also like the fact that they can adjust the food ingredients according to the allergy of the customer since my friend was allergic to shrimp, they opt to remove the shrimp from the Laing. I like their Cripsy Tadjang that has enough crispiness to it without being to rubbery and still easy to chew. This place is also a rice fan haven since their serving of rice is unlimited. If its your first time to try this place, make sure to have a big appetite since most of their servings is good for two or more people. Have been to this restaurant about 4 times now since first introduced to me and my hubby in 2016. I have been to the one at SM Megamall and I believe also at UP Towncenter. Fancy and just a bit pricey but well worth the Filipino cuisine. My favorite here is their kare2. Hubby loves the Binukadkad na Plapla. And love their pickled manggo salad. Abe is the best Filipino restaurant for me. It does not come as a surprise that they also hail from Pampanga, a province that is well-known for coming up with some of the greatest dishes in the Philippines. One of the best things about Abe is that their food, even if they are served with some kind of twist, still feels homey. It does not ruin the original dish, instead, it enhances the flavors even more. My personal favorites would be their Fried Pla-Pla, Sinigang sa Bayabas and Baby Squid. They also have the special bamboo rice (note: they do a certain kind of ritual before serving it so expect some bamboo tapping action beforehand). For dessert, I have only ordered their Sikreto ni Maria, sticky rice with Mango topped with Macapuno Ice Cream. The best part about this dessert? The Ice Cream melts into this creamy goodness that it is even better to have it liquefied than frozen. I love dining at Abe and their service is always excellent too. read more

Abé interiors are well done, with each branch giving you a relaxed and homey space, making it better for you to enjoy your food. It just screams Filipino class, and I love it. This is the place I would go to to whet my appetite for some good Filipino food in SM Megamall. This place has its quirks, with a few items from the menu (filed under the snack time options) that are not present in other branches of Abe. The interior is similar to other branches of Abe, albeit minus the nice paintings that hang in their Serendra branch. There is a wide window that makes you appreciate your life and your current position with warm utterly good Filipino food on your table as you peer into the excruciating and stressful traffic jams of EDSA below you. The price would range around 1000 to 1500 depending on how hungry both of you are. Noteworthy items to order from the menu to make you contemplate about the goodness of life would be the Sinigang, Gising Gising, Bamboo Rice, and to finish it off, Leche Flan, Ube and/or Halo-halo. read more
