This review is very different type for Yelp as it is for my vasectomy which I had yesterday with Dr…read moreJames Kashanian. The procedure was preceded by the state required 30-day separation after the consultation. This review addresses the procedure itself as I will leave the consultation for a update review (yes, in reverse order). I was familiar with finding the office on the large 9th floor of this very large facility which is perhaps the most stress. I was 18m late but thankfully the coordination in their team is very good so when I checked in they were already to go. Kudos to all the people who staff such a procedure including the scheduler who keeps track of time, the intake receptionist who signals the start, the first nurse who takes one's vitals, the surgical assistant who does most of the preparatory work, the doctor himself who studies and organizes the office, maintenance staff who make sure everything is stuck cared for and ready to go; and all the administrative staff who make it a yet easier time. I often say that the happier the staff at a business, the better the customer experience. The same applies even here for this unique type of business and review. I must note how very happy, relaxed, and genuinely caring so many of the aforementioned staff were. It is no small feat that Weill Cornell Medicine and doctor bosses keep them so happy. It is literally the type of place at which one would want to work and many friends have long said for decades that a hospital such as this is their preferred employer and indeed today work as such hospitals around the city. The procedure was very professional with all of the provided attention, care, staff, support, and good attitude that one would want for such a procedure. I knew that from my research that this procedures' difference here is their using a minimally invasive technique. Such makes all the difference for the patient's less post-operative pain recovery and higher chance of success. I'm living it right now and I can say cheers to you Dr. Kashanian and staff!

Didn't matter who they were, rich or poor, really, just wherever you came from or who you are, you get treated the same, with utmost respect and dignity. I know he is the real expert on Robotic Prostatectomy. Years passed, and then, my husband was diagnosed with Prostate Ca. Devastating. I told myself, I had other options in front of me . True, but they were not Dr. Samadi, so, wherever he was, I had to look for him and found him. By God's grace, Dr. Samadi saved my husband's life. He was so awesome, with open arms, he welcomed us in his office, treated us so well. From the first visit to his office in November of 2016 and throughout his surgery, hospitalization and recovery he has been there for us. Phone calls from his staff , follow ups, appointments text messages , everything was promptly returned and answered. From this day, ( and every 3 months previously), my husband's PSA level has been undetectable. Dr. Samadi and his staff has maintained their dedication to us and their patients. A model team. My loyalty to you will remain forever. I recommend you to any male, and any females who love their men and want them healthy again. Go to the expert, you will not be disappointed!!!

He is the only physician that has stood by me and listened, is always available by email and is willing to take treatments to the next level! He is encouraging and makes me feel like I am a priority! His manager Nancy always greets my by first name which I love, it shows that she remembers the patients and we are not just a number! He's the first physician I have taken the time to review because of his exemplary care! I had been suffering from sever IC pain for over a year and had seen multiple urologist with no relief until Dr. Kaufman. On my first visit with him I could feel his knowledge and empathy towards the pain I was experiencing. He took his time and listened to all of my complaints and made me feel as if for the first time I was being heard. I'm also able to email him when I am having a flare and he is quick to respond and treat the episode. Dr. Kaufman was the first urologist to make a plan detailed to my needs and I finally feel hope towards managing this horrible disease. His staff is also very friendly and accommodating. His medical assistant Is professional and knowledgeable and always makes sure I am smiling before I leave the office. I am recommending him to any person that needs a urologist!

Don't believe the high ratings you see on Zocdoc and HealthGrades: the Yelp ratings here are more…read moreindicative of the actual patient experience with Dr. Kaufman. The entire visit he was dismissive and rushed. He saw me for only 15 minutes and wasn't particularly interested in any of my questions. Old-school medicine mentality: "I'm the doctor, so I'm right". He conclusively decided I had a bacterial condition and prescribed me the "strongest antibiotic known to man", Levofloxacin. When I wrinkled my nose at the risk, he was dismissive, telling me "sometimes, you just need to trust your doctor" and that many of his patients took it and he never hears from them again, so it must work. When I got home and researched what he had prescribed, I found that Levofloxacin had a chance of serious nerve issues, had a black box warning from the FDA, and was not recommended unless a bacterial test had come back positive (which it didn't). I never took the antibiotics, and my pain ended up being a pelvic floor issue and resolved after seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist. The only saving grace is that the practice is inexpensive (With my United Healthcare rate, the visit was $135 including all lab tests).
